PARIS - Patricia G. Murphy, 68, of Evanston, Ill., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris. The Rev. Wesley Hammond will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris.

Visitation will be from noon until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Murphy was born Dec. 16, 1933, at Terra Haute, Ind., to Robert and Hazel Huffman Gilkison.

She was married to Stanley H. Murphy for 35 years. He survives.

Other survivors include three children, Patrick Murphy of Columbus, Ind., Richard Harden of Champaign, Ill., and Pamela Harden of Evanston; and four grandchildren.

She received a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 1955. She worked for the Chicago American Tribune and Sun Times. She later worked in public relations for the Portland Cement Association.

Emma J. Bunton

Burlington, Iowa
June 2, 1901 - June 6, 2002

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Emma June Bunton, 101, of Burlington, died at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in Burlington.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the First Baptist Church in Burlington. The Rev. Tyrone Henderson will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.

Mrs. Bunton was born June 2, 1901, in New Canton, Ill., to William and Bertha Hagen Jeffries.

She was married to Herbert P. Bunton on May 22, 1937, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Russell of Burlington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Kenneth Jeffries of Fort Madison, Iowa; and two sisters, Bertha Glascock of Hannibal and Mildred Ransdell of the state of Florida.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Jacob B. Scoggin

 Louisiana - Jacob Boyde Scoggin, 7 months, of  Louisiana, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

Viola M. Bainter

HANNIBAL - Viola M. Bainter, 97, of New London, died at 2:11 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Keith Meyer

PALMYRA - Keith Meyer, 52, of Geneseo, Ill., and formerly of Palmyra, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was injured in a motorcycle accident Friday, Oct. 11, in Geneseo.

Funeral services are pending at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Marilyn Louise Reynolds

Carroll, Iowa
Feb. 27, 1952 - Oct. 14, 2002

HANNIBAL - Marilyn Louise Reynolds, 50, of Carroll, Iowa and formerly of New London, died at 4:42 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.

The family will gather to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reynolds was born Feb. 27, 1952, in Chicago, Ill., to J.C. Crisp and Elsie R. Shannon.

She was married to Steve Reynolds of New London. He survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Guy H. Benning of rural Hannibal and Christopher R. Reynolds of Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Jewell E. Friedline of Quincy; his mother and stepfather, Elsie R. Schwab and husband, Fred, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his father, J.C. Crisp of Humboldt, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Timothy Ames and Sebastian Ames, both of Quincy, and Abigail Benning of rural Hannibal; three brothers, Alan Ray Crisp of Madison, Ala., Timothy J.C. Crisp of Hannibal and David T. Crisp of Dothan, Ala.; four sisters, Mary Ann Grier of McCalla, Ala., Ilene R. Portwood of Caruthersville, Margaret E. Harvey of New London and Becky Belmonte of Bourbon, Ind.; and a special friend, Robert Regan of Carroll.

Marshall Loy Fox

Winfield
Dec. 8, 1954 - Oct. 13, 2002

WINFIELD - Marshall Loy Fox, 47, of Winfield, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. The Rev. Joel Aurand will officiate. Burial will be at Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.

Mr. Fox was born Dec. 8, 1954, in Tulsa, Okla., to Lee and Janice Lovekamp Fox.

He was married to Janice Lea Grubbs on July 4, 1986, in Virginia, Ill. She survives.

Other survivors include three children, Joseph Fox, Dixie Fox and Debi Fox, all of the home; his parents of Virginia, Ill.; one sister, Michelle Fox of Glenview, Ill.; his maternal grandmother, Hester Lovekamp of Beardstown, Ill.; his parents-in-law, Robert and Mariel Grubbs of St. Ann; one brother-in-law, the Rev. Lari Grubbs of Crystal City; several aunts and uncles; one niece; one nephew; and other relatives and friends.

Lois P. Lechliter

Paris
July 16, 1908 - Oct. 14, 2002

PARIS - Lois Pearl (Pearlie) Lechliter, 94, of Paris, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Agnew Funeral Home. The Rev. John Grimmett will officiate. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lechliter was born July 16, 1908, east of Paris to John Ellis and Anna Gertrude Foreman Murphy.

She was married to A.E. (Tub) Lechliter on June 8, 1928, in Shelbyville. He preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1969.

Survivors include four children, Bonnie Wheeler, Annie Herron, Bob Lechliter and Eddie Joe Lechliter; eight grandchildren, Don Wheeler, Donna Neale, Joy Ridgeway, Karla Harrison, Gay Walsh, Betty Jo Houton, Keith Herron and Bonnie Jean Dougherty; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by four sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter.

Samuel E. Funk

Edina
Feb. 25, 1923 - Oct. 14, 2002

EDINA - Samuel Eugene (Gene) Funk, 79, of Edina, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

At his request his body was cremated and a memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. The Rev. Robert Shobe will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Mr. Funk was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Quincy, Ill., to Samuel Gale and Beulah Baker Funk.

He was married to Mary Ann Pottoroff on March 26, 1962, in Lancaster. She preceded him in death Oct. 29, 2001.

Survivors include one son, Samuel Wayne Funk; two daughters, Marsha Shrake and Janice Funk; one stepson, Billy Jack Webb; one brother, Raymond Funk; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two wives; one brother; and one sister.

Hiram William Watkins Jr.

St. Louis
Sept. 21, 1928 - Oct. 12, 2002

ST. LOUIS - Hiram William Watkins Jr. died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002.

A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Roch Catholic Church in St. Louis.

Mr. Watkins was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Statesville, N.C., to Hiram W. Sr. and Wilma L. Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Paradise Watkins; four sons, Hiram W. Watkins III of Columbia, James E. Watkins of Boston, Mass., Peter L. Watkins of St. Paul, Minn., and Andrew T. Watkins of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one son, Paul D. Watkins.

Mr. Watkins graduated from Hannibal High School in 1946 and married Mary Paradise, class of 1947. He served in the 82nd Airborne and in the occupation forces in Japan at the end of World War II. He was a graduate of Washington University with a bachelor's degree in business and graduate degree in law. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He practiced law in St. Louis and Clayton. He was a member of the Missouri Bar, the American Arbitration Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and served as a faculty member of the Trial Practice Institute. He was involved with one of the first St. Louis Riverfront redevelopments with the Mansion House Center.

Mr. Watkins was an active member of St. Roch Catholic Church in St. Louis and an avid outdoorsman. He was a Parkview Association trustee and was active with Boy Scout Troop 98.

Memorials may be made to St. Roch's Scholarship Fund.
