HAYES

Rose Beryl "Bea" Hayes, 84,  Jefferson City, died April 21, 2001, at Hospice of  Jefferson City.

She was born June 7, 1916, in Mokane, a daughter of Curtis and Gertrude Serby Corley. She was married Jan. 19, 1938, in St. Louis, to Henry Gordon Hayes, who died Jan. 1, 1960.

A 1933 graduate of Mokane High School, she attended St. John's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Christian Church, Cole County Senior Council and did volunteer work with the Nutrition Center. She co-owned, developed and opened Midland Memorial Gardens, Union, in 1959. She also bought and developed cemeteries in St. Charles, and Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. She sold her business interests in 1968, moved to Osage Beach and worked for several resorts.

She retired in 1985 and returned to  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: one son, Curtis Hayes, Dallas; one daughter, Penny Biller,  Jefferson City; one sister, Blanche Mae Ismay,  Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Christopher Geil will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of  Jefferson City.

IMHOFF

William "Mark" Imhoff, 37, California, died April 19, 2001, near Cole Camp.

He was born Sept. 1, 1963, in  Jefferson City, a son of Kenneth and Linda Langkop Imhoff. His parents survive in California. He was married May 11, 1985, in California, to Jeannie Irey, who survives at the home.

He worked for Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Tipton, for 13 years and was a line foreman on a construction truck. He received a certificate as a journeymen lineman in 1992.

He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, California, and was currently serving on the parish council. He was a member of the Sportsman Club, California Recreation Program, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2 and the California Country Club, where he served as past president.

He was a 1981 graduate of California High School and attended Central Missouri State University.

Other survivors include: one son, Tyler Imhoff, of the home; one daughter, Kristen Imhoff, of the home; one brother, Terry Imhoff, California; and two sisters, Diane Temple, West Chester, Pa., and Jennifer Vermillion, Kansas City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schutty and the Rev. Bill Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the church with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the College Fund for Tyler and Kristen Imhoff, c/o Commerce Bank 232 South Osage Drive, Tipton, Mo. 65081 or Commerce Bank, 209 E. Main Street, California, Mo. 65018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

KUEHN

Bernice T. Kuehn, 85, Hartsburg, died April 19, 2001, at St. Joseph for the Aged.

She was born in St. Louis, a daughter of Aloysius and Theresa Schuette. She was married to John Kuehn, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, John Kuehn, Hartsburg; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Affton.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Kutis Affton Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Masses.

LANDIS

Rose Landis, 94, Holts Summit, died April 20, 2001, at Capital Health Care.

She was born Feb. 11, 1907, in Yarro, a daughter of Elijah Marion Florence Hopper Munn. She was married in Huntsville to Albert Landis, who died in 1981.

She worked for the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital for 21 years and retired as a supervisor. She was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, Kirksville.

Survivors include: one daughter, Juanita June Steen, Holts Summit; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Yarro Cemetery, Yarro.

Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. today at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home,  Jefferson City.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

LANDRY

Alma Anna Landry, 87, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Argyle, died April 17, 2001, at Odyssey Hospice House, Mesa.

She was born Feb. 4, 1914, a daughter of Joseph and Gertrude Brunnert Wulff. She was married Sept. 23, 1945 to Charles Sylvester Landry, who died Oct. 6, 1993.

She moved to Argyle in 1990 and, after the death of her husband, moved to Mesa in 1994.

She had been a sales clerk with Katz Drug Store, Kirkwood and Maplewood, for 20 years. She was a child care provider and a homemaker.

She was a member of a quilting club.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Landry, Toledo, Ohio, and Hank Landry, Columbia; one daughter, Frances Michaelree, Mesa; two brothers, Ben Wulff, Columbia, and Joe Wulff Jr., Florissant; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes' Vienna Chapel. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today.

NEWKIRK

Nemo Newkirk, 83, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of California, died April 9, 2001, at his home.

He was born June 28, 1917, in California, a son of Roy L. and Fairy Marie Martin Newkirk. He was married in 1955 to Cecile Wood, who died Oct. 16, 1964. He was married to Roseanna Blythe Dean. He was married in 1967 to Irene Newkirk, who survives in Leavenworth, Kan.

He worked for the Woolen Mill, California, and later ran tests on oil and gasoline products at the Kansas City Refinery. He worked at the U.S. Post Office, Kansas City, until retirement.

He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1935. He joined the National Guard in 1940. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve until retiring in 1977.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Michaelene "Micki" Williams, Tonganoxie, Kan.; one stepson, Allen Norman; one brother, Lester Newkirk, Los Altos, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Flag Spring Cemetery, southwest of California. The Rev. Frank Whitney will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 2222 S. Dobson Road, Ste. 401, attn. Jane Murdock, Mesa, Ariz. 85202.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

SEARS

Frankie I. Sears, 81,  Jefferson City, died April 21, 2001, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

She was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Persia, Tenn., a daughter of James B. and Mary B. Ball Shropshire. She was married Nov. 2, 1947, in San Carlos, Calif., to Ed R. Sears, who died Oct. 5, 1977.

She was a 1938 graduate of Lindsay High School, Lindsay, Calif., and attended Porterville Junior College. She worked for Coachlight Flowers as a clerk and also worked at Duff's Cafeteria as a cashier. She was a member of St. Joseph's Cathedral and Women's Association.

Survivors include: two sons, Ray Sears,  Jefferson City, and Joe Sears, San Diego; two daughters, Phyllis Ball and Edie Maddox, both of  Jefferson City; two sisters, Opal Weeks, Fresno, Calif., and Juanita Ford, Visalia, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Melinda L. Oberhelman, died in 1990.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Cathedral. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Melinda L. Oberhelman Scholarship Fund.
