GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Magnolia Johnson, 54, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship MB Church, Greenville. She died July 17, 2002, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Ms. Johnson was born Feb. 28, 1948, in New Orleans, La., to the late Sam Johnson Sr. and Catherine Johnson. She was raised in Glen Allan, Miss., and she eventually made Greenville her home. She attended O'Bannon High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers James Davis, Melvin Johnson, Elijah Johnson; a sister, Shirley Johnson; and her grandmother, Magnolia Young.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra Johnson and Goldia Johnson, both of Greenville, and Virginia Johnson of Irving, Texas; three sons, Leon (Kela) Johnson of Alabaster, Ala., and Issac (Regenia) Johnson and Robert (Lakesha) Johnson, both of Greenville; four sisters, Ida Bea Polland of Greenwood, Sadie Johnson of Chicago, Irene Parish of Greenville and Marie Barnes of Grace; nine brothers, Daniel Johnson, Larry Johnson, Ralph Johnson and Charles Johnson, all of Grace, McArthur Davis and Alonzo Johnson, both of Glen Allan, Arthur Johnson of Delaware, Charlie Johnson of New Orleans and Sam Johnson Jr. of Greenville; three grandchildren, William Johnson, Xavier Johnson and Ebony Fults; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m., at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

Pastor Frank Hall will officiate.

McChriston

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Hustcern McChriston, 66, of Greenville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Lake Vista Masonic Lodge, Greenville. She died July 18, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include three daughters, Laura McChriston of Memphis, and Linda (Demon) Gearing and Lola McChriston, both of Greenville; two sons, Maurice (Mae Lee) McChriston of Las Vegas and Ronnie McChriston of Memphis; six sisters, Alice (David) Ross, Easter Ross, Johnnie Ray, Mentola Taylor and Lola Burns, all of Chicago, and Barbara Stampley of Memphis; five brothers, Robert (Betty) Haywood of Queens, N.Y., Nick Haywood of Kansas City, Mo., James (Alma) Haywood of Chicago, and Theodore (Willie Mae) Haywood and the Rev. Earnest Haywood, both of Greenville; one aunt, Willie Jackson of Dallas; two special cousins, Walter Jackson of Lamont and Daisy Cotton of Metcalfe; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

The Rev. Earnest Haywood will officiate.

McNeil

PACE — Funeral services for Mary McNeil, 59, of Pace will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Riverside United Baptist Church, Rosedale. She died July 18, 2002, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood. Burial will be in Mt. Olive MB Church Cemetery, Pace, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Rosedale.

Survivors include her husband, Sammie McNeil of Pace; two daughters, Denise (Timothy) Wright of Greenville and Norma (Aubrey) Evans of Rosedale; two sons, Darnell (Patricia) McNeil of Pace and Dennis (Valisa) McNeil of Greenville; nine sisters, Earnestine Meeks of Memphis, Doris Lee Vail of West Memphis, Ark., Mary Alice Liddell and Mary Ella (Eric) Lucas, both of St. Louis, Mo., Queen (Leonard) Brown of Chicago, Ora Lee Wilson of Hammond, Ind., Georgia (Bobby) Williams of Rosedale, Odessia (Clayton) Rice of Austin, Texas, and Olivia Phillips of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four brothers, Tom (Irene) Meeks Jr., Henry (Loretta) Phillips Jr. and Andrew James Phillips, all of Cleveland, and Willie Earl Phillips of Albany, Ga.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven stepchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m., at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Rosedale. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

The Rev. Eddie C. Williams will officiate.

Nelson

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Willie Mae Nelson, 68, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove MB Church, Greenville. She died July 22, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Strong and Sandra (Daniel) Nelson, both of Greenville; three sons, James (Angela) Brady of Leland, and Terry Lee Brady and Jackie Wayne Brady, both of Dallas; two sisters, Annie Mae Nelson and Carrie Nelson, both of Chicago; one brother, Robert Nelson of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren, Cassandra T. Nelson and Twaski M. Nelson, both of Flint, Mich., Torian Perkins and Shawn Norman, both of Greenville, Jamien Smith and Terrance Brady, both of Dallas, Dewan Prince of Hollandale, Tomeka Brady of Columbus, Ga., and Tiffany Hart of Florida; two special friends, Katie B. Moore of Greenville and Sherry Lindsey of Flint, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

The Rev. Charles Stewart will officiate.

Thomas

HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Maggie L. Thomas, 64, of Hollandale will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Simmons High School Auditorium, Hollandale. She died July 20, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in New Foundation MB Church Cemetery, Hollandale, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Hollandale.

Maggie "Shug" Thomas was born Aug. 28, 1937, to the late Herman and Maggie Thomas. She confessed Christ in 1952, and late moved to Vickland, Miss., where she became a member of Pleasant Valley MB Church. A few years went by, and she moved to Hollandale, Miss., where she became a member of New Foundation MB Church. She was a faithful member until her death.

One son, R.L. Thomas, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two daughters, Debra (Willie) Hayes of Chicago and Emma (McKinley) McNeil of Greenville; four sons, Solomon Thomas and Jerry Thomas, both of Chicago, and Andrew (Lisa) Thomas and Michael (Tonya) Thomas, both of Atlanta, Ga.; six sisters, Beatrice Bryant of Milwaukee, Rosie Ford and Pearline (John Henry) Williams, both of Panther Burn, Bertha Mae (A.C.) Gibson of Delta City, Dorothy (O.D.) Addison of Hollandale and Barbara Nell (Bob) Holt of Chicago; eight brothers, Lewis T. Thomas of Panther Burn, Herman (Bernice) Thomas of Greenville, Buck Thomas of Belglade, Fla., Johnnie (Dorothy) Thomas, Frank (Dorothy) Thomas and Ruben Thomas, all of Chicago, and Roosevelt Thomas and Jessie Thomas, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; 17 grandchildren, one of whom she raised, Derrick Thomas; three great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Hollandale. The remains will lie in state at the school Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The Rev. Banard Thomas will officiate.

Townsend

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Julia Marie "Baby Doll" Hall Townsend, 70, of Greenville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Vessels of Mercy Church, Greenville. She died July 20, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor MB Church Cemetery, Winterville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Julia Marie "Baby Doll" Hall Townsend was born June 26, 1932, in Stoneville, Miss., to the late Leander Hall and Victoria Hall. In 1957, she confessed a hope in Christ under the leadership of the Rev. Slater at Walnut Grove Church, Swiftwater. Later she moved her membership to Shady Grove North Church under Pastor Willie J. Hall.

She leaves to cherish her memories a very special friend, Clarence Wigfall of Greenville; one daughter, Lavern (Robert) Banks of Greenville; four sons, Edward (Rita) Townsend of Holland, Mich., and Ricky Townsend, Larry Townsend and Cedric Townsend, all of Greenville; four brothers, Leander (Angeline) Hall, John (Mary) Hall and Robert Hall, all of Greenville, and Essix (Ann) Hall of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Victoria Scott of Greenville; a sister-in-law, evangelist Rosie Hall of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church member and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

Pastor Willie J. Hall will officiate.

Turk

LELAND — Memorial services for George Nelson Turk, 50, of Colorado Springs, Colo., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Leland Presbyterian Church, Leland. He died July 19, 2002, in Colorado Springs from diabetic complications.

Washington

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Nancy "Mrs. T" Washington, 86, of Greenville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at New Hope First Baptist Church, Greenville. She died July 22, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

"Mrs. T" was born Oct. 9, 1915, to the late Harrison and Carrie Brooks. She was a clerk at Brown's Pastry Shop for over 30 years. She was a resident of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ethel (Herman) Ganison of Greenville; one goddaughter, Irene Walker of Metcalfe; four granddaughters, Trinia Ganison Roberts and Tyira Ganison, both of Dallas, Valerie (Greg) Tidewell of Dunkinville, Texas, and Stephine Ceasar of Jackson, Miss.; two grandsons, Eric (Amy) Ganison of Richardson, Texas, and Herman (Bridgette) Ganison of Greenville; four great-granddaughters, Queenice, Tyrichia, DeAndria and Kiara; four great-grandsons, DeKendrick, Devante, Devron and Herman III; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Blandy Brooks of Greenville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Pastor Robert E. Kimble will officiate.

Worbington

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Mary Louise Worbington, 66, of Greenville are pending at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. She died July 24, 2002, in Tupelo.

Dantzler

INDIANOLA — Graveside services for Julia Dantzler, 66, a secretary of Indianola, will be today at 1 p.m. at Indianola City Cemetery. She died Dec. 8, 2002, at The King's Daughters Hospital, Greenville. Burial will be under the direction of Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

She was secretary for Delta Floor and Decorating.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Michelle Dantzler of Hornbeck, La.; three sisters, Allene Spillman of Greenville and Ollie Robinette and Myron Beach, both of McComb; and one brother, Marvin Beach of Smithville, Mo.

Visitation will be today from noon to 12:45 p.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

Hunter

INVERNESS — Funeral services for Lillian Gunnels Hunter, 86, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and formerly of Inverness, a retired school teacher, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Inverness. She died of heart failure Dec. 7, 2002, at Life Care Center, Hilton Head Island. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Inverness, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Indianola.

She was born in Linn, Miss. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Inverness, where she served as children's choir director.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Hunter.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine H. Montgomery of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; three grandchildren, Calvin W. Montgomery and W.A. Hunter Montgomery, both of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and John M. Montgomery II of Washington, D.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Thomas Montgomery.

The Rev. Danny Prater will officiate.

Kent

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Daniel Larry Kent, 58, of Greenville will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville. He died of heart failure Dec. 9, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville.

He was a native of Leland, and graduated from Leland High School. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College. He was an outstanding baseball pitcher at Leland High School and Mississippi Delta Community College until his injury at Mississippi Delta. He served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve. At the time of his death, he was maintenance manager at Days Inn. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gentry Kent of Greenville; one sister, Becky Kent Breckenridge of Amarillo, Texas; and two brothers, Hardy Dean Kent of Jeanerette, La., and Franklin Dale Kent of Jonesboro, Ga.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mayes

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Jake Mayes Jr., 53, of Greenville and formerly of Choctaw are pending at T.L. Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland. He died Dec. 8, 2002, at his home.
