Brown
GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Rosetta Brown, 75, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater St. Peter MB Church, Greenville. She died June 3, 2003, at her home. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Pearlie Williams of Greenville; one sister, Dora Baites of Greenville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Easter Summerville, Annie (Brady) Summerville and Jessie Williams, all of Leland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Greater St. Peter church family.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Pastor Jesse King will officiate.
Cole
BLAINE — Funeral services for Rosie Cole, 87, of Blaine will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Hope MB Church, Blaine. She died June 8, 2003, at her home. Burial will be in New Hope Church Cemetery under the direction of Dillon Funeral Home, Indianola.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessie Ingram of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters, Lucinda West of Ruleville, Nancy Neal and Pearl Cole, both of Memphis, and Clara Pernell of Chicago.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Dillon Funeral Home chapel. The body will repose at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Ferguson
GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Patrick Delaine Ferguson Sr., 35, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Greenville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. He died June 5, 2003, at Gardiner House Hospice, Phoenix. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Patrick Delaine Ferguson Sr. was born Aug. 30, 1967, in Greenville, Miss., to the loving parents of Bessie Prymer Ferguson and Perry Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alice Mae and Grant Prymer and Pearlie and Willie Ferguson Sr.; aunts Hattie Mae Ousley and Mattie Stone; and uncles Buddy Prymer and Jerry Bingham.
Patrick's family moved to Santa Ana, Calif., in 1972. He was a 1986 graduate of Valley High School, Santa Ana, in 1972. He did further studies at American Medical School where he met Julianne Ventress in 1988, and they were united in holy matrimony in 1991. Patrick was baptized in 1981. In 1993, Patrick and family converted to Islam. In 1998, they relocated to Phoenix, Ariz., where he worked for Quaker Oats until his calling on June 5, 2003.
He leaves to cherish his life his devoted wife, Julianne Ferguson of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sons, Davion Ferguson, Tyree Ferguson, Patrick Ferguson Jr. and Jaylind Ferguson, all of Phoenix; his loving parents, Bessie and Perry Ferguson of Biloxi; one sister, Yolanda Ferguson of Norwalk, Calif.; three brothers, Ivory (Theresa) Griffin of Great Lakes, Ill., Perry Ferguson Jr. of Jackson and Terry Brown of Chicago; a grandfather, Albert Bingham of Greenville; a great-grandmother, Ozzie Mae Moore of Greenville; his loving mother-in-law, Bonnie Gray of Phoenix; one brother-in-law, James Ventress of Phoenix; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Eric) Barton and Brandy Ventress, both of Phoenix; 10 uncles; 16 aunts; and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.
Gear
GREENVILLE — Funeral services for George M. Gear, 56, of Greenville will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill South MB Church, Greenville. He died June 6, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Watson-Edwards & Evans Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Gear was a retired employee of the City of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Savannah and Robert Smith Sr.; a sister, Savannah Gear; a grandfather, William Gear; and one aunt, Virginia McKinny.
His memories will be cherished by his family including six sisters, Ruby Smith, Luticia Brown, Brenda Smith, Gloria Redmon and Doris (Arthur) Lee, all of Greenville, and Yolanda White of Sacramento, Calif.; six brothers, Robert (Ella) Smith, Ruben Smith, Charles Smith, Wilson Smith and Timmy (Katrina) Smith, all of Greenville, and Melvin (Clemmotine) Smith of Jackson; two very close aunts, Lucille Smith and Nellie Brown, both of Greenville; and a number of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Watson-Edwards & Evans Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

Hamblet
MOORHEAD — Funeral services for Almeter Hamblet, 81, of Moorhead will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Ararat MB Church, Moorhead. She died June 4, 2003, at The King's Daughters Hospital, Greenville. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Moorhead, under the direction of Dillon Funeral Home, Indianola.
She is survived by her son, Ellery (Josephine) Johnson of Moorhead; two brothers, John. W. Johnson of Moorhead and Joe Johnson of Chicago; two sisters, Mary Ella Moore and Alice Williams, both of Chicago; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Dillon Funeral Home chapel, Indianola.

Jackson
HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Everlean Johnson Jackson, 53, of Hollandale will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at New Hope MB Church, Hollandale. She died June 4, 2003, at her home. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Hollandale, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Hollandale.
Everlean Johnson Jackson was born Aug. 2, 1949, to Eldonia Randle Johnson and Ben Johnson in Louise, Miss. Everlean accepted Christ as her lord and savior in 1957 at Shady Grove MB Church in Louise, under the leadership of the Rev. Elmo Olliphant. After moving to Hollandale, Miss., in 1960, she joined Pleasant Green MB Church under the leadership of the late Rev. B.T. Washington and presently the Rev. R.C. Addison. She has held many positions in her church, such as choir director, choir secretary, Sunday school teacher and many more. Everlean attended Simmons High School from which she graduated in 1968 with great honor, dignity and respect. On July 4, 1980, Everlean married the late Cornelius Jackson. Everlean was employed with Redmon Funeral Home for 24 years, under the direction of Mr. Otis C. Redmon Sr. Everlean worked faithfully in her community throughout Washington, Sharkey, Issaquena and Humphreys counties as a burial insurance agent for many years. She worked diligently in the church under the leadership of the Rev. R.C. Addison until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and three sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son, the Rev. John (Linda) Jackson of Yazoo City; one sister, Earlean (William) Allen of St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, William L. Johnson of Hollandale and Carthell (Jennie) Johnson of Greenville; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Cedric, Michael and Jay, all of Yazoo City; a very special nieces, Deloris, and other nieces, Amber and Londo Woodhouse of St. Paul, Minn.; one aunt, Geneva Randle of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Hollandale. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Jackson
GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Lavita Machelle Hill Jackson, 37, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, Greenville. She died June 7, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.
Lavita Machelle Hill Jackson was born Sept. 17, 1967, in Greenville, Miss., to Mr. Leroy Hill and Mrs. Barbara Seaton Hill Stewart. Lavita was the granddaughter of Mr. George Seaton, whom she affectionately referred to as "Daddy," and the late Mrs. Mary Ann Rhodes Seaton.
Lavita grew up in a Christian environment and confessed her faith in Jesus Christ on April 26, 1977, under the leadership of the late Rev. E.E. Evans at Zion Baptist Church in Greenville, Miss. She was a faithful and devoted member of this church and served as secretary of the Sunday school and the junior choir, and actively participated in other church auxiliaries.
Lavita was educated in the Greenville public system and was a 1985 graduate of T.L. Weston High School. She furthered her education at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Miss. After college, thus being determined to be successful in all positive endeavors, she was a loyal and faithful employee for both The Day's Inn and McRae's Department Store of Greenville.
Celebrating her life and cherishing her memories are her two children, D'Andre Jamar Hill and Shenika Danielle Hill, both of Greenville; her loving mother, Barbara Jean Seaton Stewart of Greenville; her grandfather, George Seaton of Greenville; one brother, Calvin Bernard (La-Chanda) Stewart of Greenville; one uncle, Tommy (Dorothy) Seaton of Greenville; one nephew, Corbin Bernard Stewart of Greenville; one aunt, Addie (Jesse) Hymes of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a host of great-aunts and uncles, cousins, Christian family members, co-workers and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. The body will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Johnson
GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Edkie Lee Johnson, 69, of Greenville and formerly of Stringtown will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. He died June 9, 2003, at The King's Daughters Hospital, Greenville. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Edkie Lee Johnson was born in Symonds, Miss., the fifth child of Allen C. and Georgia Johnson. At an early age, he and his family moved to Stringtown, Miss., where he grew up loving to play baseball. He was known to many as the "Hot Corner Man." He attended grade school at Stringtown. As a young man, he worked briefly in Syracuse, N.Y. He returned to his hometown and some years later moved to Greenville to live with his brother and family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Allen and Georgia Johnson; his oldest brother, Allen C. Johnson Jr.; his oldest sister, Edna J. White; and his youngest sister, Georgia Lee Johnson.
He is survived by three sisters, Rudell Gilbert and family and Frances Williams and family, all of Syracuse, N.Y., and Bernice Thornton and family of Detroit; five brothers, William (Minnie) Johnson and family, Ralpha (Inez) Johnson and family and Leroy (Patricia) Johnson and family, all of Syracuse, N.Y., Johnny (Bernice) Johnson and family of Arlington, Texas, and Vernice (Ida) Johnson and family of Greenville; one uncle, Major Anthony and family of Clarksdale; a sister-in-law, Lillie Johnson and family of Chicago; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and the family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., at Redmon Funeral Home chapel.

Moore
SHAW — Funeral services for John A. Moore, 62, of Shaw will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McEvans Elementary School, Shaw. He died June 6, 2003, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Ga. Burial will be in Sanders Cemetery, Shaw, under the direction of T.L. Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Moore-Young (Frederick) of Ellenwood, Ga., and Jewanda Parker of Greenville; four sisters, Inetta Watts of Milwaukee, Doris (Charles) Crook of Anaheim, Ga., and Sarah Cooks and Mildred (Jimmy) Ware, both of Cleveland; three brothers, Richard (Lucy Seaberry) Moore and Dr. Nate (Marshell) Brown, both of Cleveland, and Ronnie (Pearlie) Brown of Shaw; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m., at T.L. Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Shockley
INDIANOLA — Funeral services for Jacob "Jake" Shockley, 80, of Indianola, a retired mechanic, will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola. He died June 9, 2003, at University Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery.
Mr. Shockley was a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lura Gordon Shockley.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Shockley of Vislia, Calif., Jim Shockley of Bakersfield, Calif., and Herman Harkins of Indianola; two sisters, Ruby Barkham of Fresno, Calif., and Mary Ratliff of Yakima, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
