Ford

GUNNISON — Funeral services for Linda Ford, 51, of Chicago and formerly of Gunnison, will be Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Gospel Temple Church, Rosedale. She died July 12, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery, Gunnison, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

Her son, Robert L. "Ray" Ford died July 13, 2002, in Chicago.

Survivors include one daughter, Monique Ford of Chicago; nine brothers, Edward (Vera) Ford, Zebedee (Issabella) Ford, Aaron Ford, Emanuel (Latarya) Ford and Tannie (Glinda) Ford, all of Gunnison, Freddie Ford, Alfred Ford and Elvis (Beatrice) Ford, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Fred (Marie) Ford of Milwaukee; one sister, Olliestene (Alvin) Davenport of St. Louis, Mo.; a special companion, Levi Gipson Sr. of Chicago; one stepson, Levi Gipson Jr. of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Sanetta Gipson of Chicago; one stepgranddaughter, Brianna Gipson of Chicago; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home chapel, Shelby.

The Rev. Andrew Williams III will officiate.

Ford

GUNNISON — Funeral services for Robert L. "Ray" Ford, 32, of Chicago and formerly of Gunnison will be Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Gospel Temple Church, Rosedale. He died July 13, 2002, at his home. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery, Gunnison, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

His mother, Linda Ford, preceded him in death July 12, 2002, in Chicago.

Survivors include one sister, Monique Ford of Chicago; and two sons, Jonathan Ford of Decatur, Ill., and Ryan Ford of Memphis.

Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home chapel, Shelby.

The Rev. Andrew Williams III will officiate.

Franklin

CLEVELAND — Funeral services for Louise Holt Franklin, 63, of Cleveland will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mound Bayou. She died July 17, 2002, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Bright Star Cemetery, Merigold, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher C. Franklin of Tupelo and Leonardo R. Franklin of Seoul, Korea; two daughters, Donna Franklin Grenell of Auburn, Ala., and Carolyn Franklin Williams of Tupelo; four brothers, Carl Holt of Greenville, Johnathan Holt and Harry Holt, both of Mound Bayou, and Clinton Holt of Memphis; five sisters, Beulah McMillion and Earnestine Patterson, both of Chicago, Cathy Pegeus and Helen Holt, both of Mound Bayou, and Brenda H. Collier of Memphis; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m., with family hour from 6 to 8 p.m., at Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.

The Rev. Truville Black will officiate.

Green

VICKSBURG — Funeral services for Calvin Green, 43, of Vicksburg will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Herald MB Church, Rolling Fork. He died July 13, 2002, at River Regional Hospital, Vicksburg. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Rolling Fork, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.

Mr. Green was a welder with East Fabco of Vicksburg.

Survivors include his mother, Mattie Green of Jackson; five brothers, Johnnie Green, Willie T. Green and Gordon Green, all of Vicksburg, Larry Green of Rolling Fork and James Smith of Chicago.

Pallbearers will be David Clark, Laurance Armstrong, Willie T. Green, Eugene Gibbs Jr., Larry Green, Gordon Green, Ronnie Green and Glen Green.

Griffin

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Elise Griffin, 81, of Greenville, a retired sitter, will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter MB (South) Church, Greenville. She died July 12, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Metcalfe, under the direction of Watson-Edwards & Evans Funeral Home, Greenville.

The Rev. Lonnie Sanders will officiate.

Hutchinson

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Ruby Marble Hutchinson, 91, of Heber Springs, Ark., and formerly of Washington County, a homemaker, will be today at 11 a.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. She died of heart failure July 16, 2002, at Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Winona.

Mrs. Hutchinson was born in Vaiden, Miss., and lived in Washington County most of her life. She lived in Heber Springs the last two years.

Our precious Lord took Mrs. Ruby by her hand and lead her into heaven on July 16, 2002, at 8:20 p.m.

Survivors include two daughters, Lena Fonville of Ranger, Texas, and Dorothy Burney of Heber Springs, Ark.; three sons, Floyd Hutchinson of Lake Providence, La., Ralph Hutchinson of Kosciusko and Aubrey Hutchinson of Greenville; one sister, Ethel Hearon of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Barry King will officiate.

Ingram

PERTHSHIRE — Funeral services for Theodore Ingram Sr., 76, of Perthshire will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mercy Seat MB Church, Perthshire. He died July 16, 2002, at Bolivar Health and Rehab Center, Cleveland. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery, Gunnison, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Rosedale.

Johnson

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Magnolia Johnson, 54, of Greenville are pending at Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville. She died July 17, 2002, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson.

May

CHICAGO — Funeral services for Essie Lee May, 53, of Chicago and formerly of Leland, Miss., will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Vernon Park Church of God, 9011 S. Stony Island, Chicago. She died July 12, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville, Miss. Burial will be at the Lincoln Funeral Home, Chicago, under the direction of Seals Funeral Home, Chicago.

Essie Lee May was born Dec. 7, 1948, in Leland to Marie and Webb May. She was the second of five children. Both parents preceded her in death.

She moved to Chicago around 1966. Upon settling in Chicago, she became a member of Vernon Park Church of God, where she was a very devoted member until her death. She was employed in the Chicago school system, where she was a devoted school teacher for over 30 years. Essie was also a volunteer and leader in many different charity groups. She is loved and will be missed by many.

Essie leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Bessie Lee May of Chicago; three brothers, Webster May of Fort Worth, Texas, and Monroe (Alberta) May and Wade May, both of Chicago; one niece, Katina Alicia May Brewer of Brooksville, Miss., who was very special to her; a special friend, Thelma Jackson of Chicago; and a host of loving relatives and friends. She also leaves two aunts, Florence Payne of Los Angeles and Rosie Lee Payne of Greenville; and one uncle, Frank Thomas of Greenville.

Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the church.

The Rev. Jerald January Sr. will officiate.

McChriston

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Hustcern McChriston, 66, of Greenville are pending at Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville. She died July 18, 2002, at her home.

Roberts

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Funeral services for Edward D. Roberts, 67, of Germantown and formerly of Greenville, Miss., will be today at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis. He died July 17, 2002, at his home. Burial will be in Moorhead Cemetery, Moorhead, Miss.

Skinner

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Alinden Marion Skinner, 79, of Greenville are pending at Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville. He died July 1, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.

Spraggins-Walker

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Lauretta Spraggins-Walker, 75, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove (South) MB Church, Greenville. She died July 11, 2002, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

She was born July 5, 1927, the last of seven children from the union of Annie and Morris Caldwell of Pheba, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

At an early age, she accepted the call to Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Pheba. In 1946, she married Woodrow Spraggins Sr. This union was blessed with five children. They moved to Greenville in December 1962. In 1963, they joined Shady Grove MB Church under the pastorage of the late Clarence Johnson. Woodrow preceded her in death in 1972. Johnnie Walker Sr. and Lauretta were married in 1981. In 1991, they moved their membership to the Greater St. Mary MB Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L. Reed and the Rev. Thomas Gray. Johnnie preceded her in death in 1998. In March of 2002, she moved her membership back to Shady Grove MB Church under the pastorage of Charles E. Stewart. She remained here as a mother and active member until her death.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Mary (Henry) Miller of Detroit and Betty (Willie) Barksdale of Greenville; three sons, Woodrow (Angela) Spraggins Jr. of Columbus, Ga., Clifton (Sharon) Spraggins of Leland and Kenneth (Angie) Spraggins of Greenville; five stepsons; five stepdaughters; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be today from 1 to 5 p.m., with family hour from 5 to 6 p.m., at Redmon Funeral Home chapel. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Pastor Charles E. Stewart will officiate.

Thornton

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Loretta Thornton, 73, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel MB Church, Greenville. She died July 10, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Dillon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker for most of her life. Her declining years were spent as a resident of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Greenville.

She leaves to cherish her memories her guardians, Darnell and Helen Coleman of Greenville; one brother, Ned (Maxine) Allen of Clarksdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

The Rev. Morris McCaskill will officiate.
