Aubrey F. Williams

Aubrey F. Williams, 86, of Magnolia, died of heart failure Oct. 4, 2000, at Beacham Memorial Hospital.

Visitation is 9 a.m. Thursday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Justin Howell and the Rev. Crockett Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery in Pike County.

Mr. Williams was born May 6, 1914, in Pike County. He was the son of Alva Felder Williams and Mary Sandifer Williams.

He was a sawmill owner and a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Nolan, Bill and Joel Williams; and two sisters, Era Grimes and Jewell Lee.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anita Simmons Williams of Magnolia; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Kay Williams of Magnolia and Terry Williams of Athens, Ga.; three sisters, Alma Richmond of Tylertown, Lucille Crowder of Long Beach and Marie Smith of Brandon; two grandchildren, Shelly Williams of Magnolia and Scotty Williams of Laurel; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Florida M. Cook

Florida May Cook, 89, of Tylertown, died Sept. 29, 2000, at Walthall County General Hospital.

Visitation starts noon Friday at Washington Funeral Home in Tylertown and continues through wake services there from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Tylertown, with the Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was born July 10, 1911, in Tylertown. She was the daughter of Bert and Rachel May.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie Roe Cook Sr.; and one son, Jessie Roe Cook Jr.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, J.W. and Emma Jean Cook of Tylertown and Eugene and Coreane Cook of Magnolia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and C.J. Byrd and Lucille and B.J. Byrd, all of Tylertown, and Ollie Jean and Landry C. Handy Sr. of New Orleans; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maxine C. Twiner

Maxine Cloy Twiner, 83, of Meadville, died of cancer Oct. 2, 2000, at her residence.

Visitation continued until services today at 2 p.m. at Bunkley Baptist Church in Franklin County. The Rev. Mike Morris and the Rev. Kenny Wilson officiate. Burial is in the church cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home of Meadville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Twiner was born July 7, 1917, in Franklin County. She was the daughter of Thomas Cloy and Elizabeth Murray Cloy.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bunkley Baptist Church.

Mrs. Twiner was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, A.J. Twiner of Meadville; one son, Charles Twiner of Meadville; five daughters, Betty Joe Bedford, Charlotte Chance and Gail Arnold, all of Meadville, Jannette Dykes of Smithdale and Patricia Griffin of Jackson; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jerry Chance, Andy Dykes, Brad Mullins, Kevin King, Rob Morgan, Darren Twiner, Wade Jackson, Tommy Walker and Ed Young.

Charles W. Crosby Sr.

Charles William “Charlie” Crosby Sr., 71, of Natchez, died Oct. 1, 2000, at his residence.

Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Community Chapel Church of God in Natchez, with the Rev. Steve Pearson officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, with Laird Funeral Home of Natchez in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Crosby was born Feb. 22, 1929, in McComb. He was the son of Audie Johnson Crosby and Rose Mary Deppiesse Crosby.

He retired from Entergy Corp. in March 1991 where he worked for 43 years, and was a member of Entergy Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Community Chapel Church of God.

Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nettie Beatrice “Bea” Crosby.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tiffany Crosby of Natchez; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jan Hilburn, Ginny and Rudy Avara and Terry and Scott Russ, all of Natchez, and Sauncee and Larry Huff of Ocean Springs; 11 grandchildren, Brittany and Shan Hilbun, Bubba Humphrey, Alexis Avara, Audie and Haden Crosby, Kacy and Krissy Russ and Sara, Neil and Austin Huff; and one sister and brother-in-law, Lavern and Harold Cowart of Smithdale.

Pallbearers were Carol Pearson, Frank Causey, Mike Myers, Greg Smith, Travis Warren and James Huff. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Jack Rodriquez, Bud Parish, Julian Delaughter and Churchmen of Community Chapel Church of God.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Chapel Church of God building fund, youth fund or a charity of choice.

Faye C. Booty

Faye Cutrer Booty, 91, of Kentwood, La., died Oct. 3, 2000, at her residence.

Visitation is 6-10 tonight at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, and from 8 a.m. Thursday until services there at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Kentwood.

Mrs. Booty was born March 12, 1909, in Spring Creek, La. She was the daughter of Guy Cutrer and America Pierce Cutrer.

She was a homemaker and a member of Kentwood Church of God, which is now New Covenant Church of God, for 75 years. She also attended Kentwood First Baptist Church with her family.

Mrs. Booty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer J. Booty; one brother, Herman Cutrer; and one grandson, Ricky D. Booty.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Verlin and Mary Booty of Satsuma, La., Alton and Dolly Booty of San Antonio, Texas, Dennis and Juanita Booty of Walker, La., and Lindsey and Jo Ann Booty of Kentwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris B. and Clarence “Tut” Young and Betty B. and Bobby R. Simpson, all of Kentwood; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Edith M. Spang

Edith Morris Spang, 96, of LaBelle, Fla., and formerly of McComb, died Sept. 11, 2000, at Sun City Retirement Residence in Sun City Center, Fla.

Her ashes are interred in the Morris family plot in Atlanta, with the National Cremation Society of Fort Myers, Fla., in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Spang was born Nov. 3, 1903, in Atlanta. She was the daughter of Charles Morris and Alice Berta Morris of Atlanta.

She was a homemaker and an an active member of Episcopal Church of the Mediator until her husband’s retirement to LaBelle in 1968. She moved to McComb from New Orleans in 1941, and was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary and the Flower Lovers Club, both of McComb.

Mrs. Spang was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Spang Sr., formerly of McComb; and two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Rhoda Spang of LaBelle; four grandchildren, Dorothy Anderson of Minneapolis, Henry Spang III of Vancouver, Wash., Elizabeth Still of Fort Myers, Fla., and Edith Spang of Los Angeles; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local hospice care.

Josephine Guidry

Josephine Guidry of McComb died Oct. 3, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete with Catchings Funeral Home of McComb in charge.

Mildred A. Locke

Mildred Estelle Allison Locke, 89, of Fountain Hill, Ark., died Sept. 30, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg, Ark.

Services were 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg Inc., with the Rev. Clyde Mitchell Jr. officiating. Burial was in Flat Creek Cemetery of Fountain Hill.

Mrs. Locke was born Oct. 4, 1910, in Fountain Hill. She was the daughter of John William Allison and Tempie Jones Allison.

She was a homemaker and worked during World War II at the defense plant in Jacksonville, Ark. She was a member of Hollis Chapel Baptist Church. She had also lived in California and Smackover, Ark.

Mrs. Locke was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theron Locke; three brothers, Herbert, Noel and Quentin Allison; and two sisters, Inez McGilton and Barbara High.

Survivors include two brothers, James Allison and Bobby Allison, both of Fountain Hill; three sisters, Lois Ford of Hamburg, Doris Scott of Ringgold, La., and Olive McNiece of McComb; and a host of nieces and nephews.

W.B. Young

Wiley Britton Young, 81, of McComb, died Oct. 1, 2000, at Bea-cham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, and continues there at 10 a.m. Wednesday until services at 2 p.m. in Catchings chapel. Dr. David Millican and the Rev. A.D. Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery of McComb.

Additional information was unavailable today.

Mae Lee

Mae Lee, 98, of Tylertown, died there Oct. 2, 2000, at Walthall County General Hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete with Capps Funeral Home of Tylertown in charge.

Ford R. McCray

Ford Rush McCray, 94, of McComb, died Nov. 2, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Visitation is 5-7 tonight at Young’s Funeral Home in Summit. Services are noon Wednesday at Rose Bower Baptist Church in Amite County, with the Rev. Mannie Isaac officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. McCray was born April 16, 1906, in Pike County. He was the son of Sam McCray and Maggie McCray.

He was a laborer.

Survivors include one daughter, Lexie B. Lacking of Magnolia; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McCray of Magnolia and Elnor Morgan of McComb; a special friend, Gaylon Varnado of McComb; 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 47 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

J. B. Welch

Joseph Baron “J.B.” Welch, 84, of Osyka, died of respiratory failure Nov. 6, 2000, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.

Visitation is 6-9 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Osyka Baptist Church until services at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Milton Kliesch officiating. Burial will be in Osyka Cemetery.

Mr. Welch was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Osyka. He was the son of William W. Welch and Mary Elizabeth Williams Welch.

He was a retired carpenter and a member of Local Union No. 1098 in Baton Rouge, La. He was a member of Osyka Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 50 years and taught Sunday school. His family said he was committed to his family and organizations.

He was a Mason and a member of Rising Glory Mason Lodge No. 215 in Osyka for 50 years, Mayflower Chapter No. 148 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Osyka, Shriners Wabahi Temple in Jackson and a lifetime member of Southwest Mississippi Shrine Club.

His family said he was a hard worker, never met a stranger, and was loved by and loved everyone.

Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his parents and eight half brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eudean Prescott Welch of Osyka; one son and daughter-in-law, Warren Joseph Welch and Betty Welch of Osyka; two daughters and one son-in-law, Vivian and Patrick McKinney of Chatawa and Vesta Welch Hathaway of Osyka; seven grandchildren, Deborah Dormody of Chatawa, Allen McKinney of Camden, Tenn., Pam Scariano and Douglas McKinney, both of Chatawa, Wendell Joseph Welch and Randall Hathaway, both of Osyka of Osyka, and Baron Hathaway of Brandon; two stepgrandchildren, Marsha Parnell of Roseland, La., and Gregory Chapman of Kentwood, La.; nine great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Allen Mc-Kinney, Douglas McKinney, Wendell Welch, Baron Hathaway, Randall Hathaway and Paul Scariano. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Osyka Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Osyka Baptist Church Building and Grounds Fund, P.O. Box 152, Osyka, MS 39657.
