Joyce Marie Jackson, 53, of McComb, died April 22, 2009, in Jackson.

Services are incomplete at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb.

Mary B. Martin

Mary Marie Bradley Martin, 43, of Gloster, died Aug. 7, 2009, at her residence.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion C.M.E. Church. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Maxine Price, pastor, and the Rev. Willie R. Jones Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery, with Peoples Undertaking Co. in McComb in charge.

Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 7, 1966, in Amite County, to Sammy and Azilee Beverly Bradley.

She was employed by the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in the maintenance department. She was assistant director of the youth ministry and a choir member at Mount Zion C.M.E. Church. She was a member of the Big Dog Riding Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bettie Lovett; and a brother-in-law, Waymond Lovett.

Survivors include two daughters, Raven Bradley of Killeen, Texas, and Jazmine Martin of Gloster; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Hurriah Brown of Southfield, Mich., and Pollie and Leroy Sims of Gloster; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Sammie and Jacqueline Bradley of Gloster, Clarence and Deloise Bradley of Detroit and Wilmon and Vergia Bradley of Liberty; a special niece and friend, Sapphira Brown of Detroit; two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers, church family and friends.

L.S. Martin, 65, of McComb, died Aug. 13, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center

Arrangements are incomplete at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb.

Howard G. Williams

Howard G. Williams, 73, of Albuquerque, N.M., and formerly of the Enon community, died Aug. 25, 2009, at Princeton Place & Rehab Center in Albuquerque.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 tonight at McComb Gospel Assembly Church on Highway 44 East of McComb and noon Saturday until services there at 2 p.m. Bro. Bobby Boyd, Bro. VonQue Boyd, Bro. Keith Boyd and Bro. Ricky Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Murray, Ky., and was raised in Detroit. He was the son of the late Walter Williams and the late Mabrey Cook Williams Monroe.

He was a member of McComb Gospel Assembly, and in his last days attended the Church of Albuquerque. Mr. Williams went across the country evangelizing to anyone who would hear his testimony of how God had saved him.

He was a truck driver and loved the open road. He loved his family and many friends. Nothing gave him more joy than to spend time with them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Voncille Boyd-Williams of Enon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Marie Williams of Detroit and Perry and Cynthia Williams of Hattiesburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin Ann Williams of Belleville, Mich., and Christi Lynn and Bryan Williams of Albuquerque; a sister, Barbara Ann Kent of Grand Rapids, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Christine Burns and Roderick Williams II, both of Belleville, Jacob, Victoria and Veronica Williams, all of Detroit, Chloe, Allyson and Emily Williams, all of Albuquerque, and Joshua Williams of Detroit; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends all over the country.

Pallbearers will be Rocky Boyd Sr., Rocky Boyd Jr., Shannon Cothern, Patrick Reid, Brad Dunaway, Roger Boyd, Billy Boyd, DeWayne Alexander, John Boutwell, Gene Fleming and Zachary Boyd.

Mildred L. Nettles

Mildred L. Nettles, 87, of Reelsville, Ind., and formerly of McComb, died Aug. 25, 2009, at the Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle, Ind.

Visitation is 10 a.m. Monday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb until services there at noon, with the Rev. Frank Shields officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Nettles was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Pike Count, to John L. and Winnie McDaniel Matthews.She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 369 in Cloverdale, Ind.

Mrs. Nettles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilton William Nettles who died April 22, 2008; a sister, Pauline Preston; and two brothers, Menton J. Matthews and Dewey L. Matthews.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ron Schrock of Reelsville; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Penny Nettles of Maine; a sister, Jeanene Allred of Hattiesburg; her brother, Charles G. Matthews of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Greg Nettles, Jeff Nettles, Michelle Root, Julie Beatty and Yvonne Lyon; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lionel Seaberry

Lionel Seaberry, 65, of Summit, died Aug. 24, 2009, at his residence.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Webb Chapel, until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Hilton Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Seaberry was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Amite County, to Tyler and Ethel Seaberry.

He joined Brown Chapel Free Will Baptist Church at an early age, and later joined Cypress Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Kenner, La.

Mr. Seaberry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean Martin Seaberry; a daughter, Yvette Seaberry; two sisters, Bernice Wells and Lindell Cole; and a brother, Curtis Seaberry.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Seaberry Edelen of Atlanta; a son, Lionel Seaberry Jr. of McComb; a stepdaughter, La Tanya Macnight; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Eva Martin of McComb, Dorothy and Robert Addison of Liberty, Bertha Lloyd of Summit, Dianne and A.C. Cowart of Magnolia and Ella and Jerry Morgan of New Orleans; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Harry Howard Sr. of Magnolia, Tyler and Lucinda Seaberry of Kenner, La., Charlie Lee Seaberry of Liberty, Otis and Laverne Seaberry of Gretna, La., Eddie and Londa Seaberry of Avondale, La., and Ronnie and Sheila Seaberry of Alexandria, La.; his mother-in-law, Lydia Martin of McComb; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Kathleen G. Johnston

Kathleen E. Green Johnston, 87, died peacefully Aug. 25, 2009, at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 tonight at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. Visitation will resume at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church, Summit, until services there at 1 p.m. Dr. Kevin Hand and the Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Johnston was born March 29, 1922, in Summit, to James Henry and Molly Martin Green. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church and a dedicated, faithful mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 56 years, Hollis L. Johnston, whom she worked with in their automotive repair business.

Survivors include two children, Connie Fanara and husband Anthony, and Ricky L. Johnston and wife Debbie; five grandchildren, Melissa Sinning, Marcia Fanara, Mona Sublett, Erick Johnston and Kimberly Johnston; and three great-grandchildren, Kaden and Bella Johnston, and Christopher Sublett.

Dorothy E. Stanley

Dorothy E. Stanley, 80, of McComb, died Aug. 27, 2009, at McComb Nursing and Rehab, after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Craft Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Casey C. Coghlan

Casey Cheyenne Coghlan, 2-day-old son of Eric Cheyenne Coghlan and Dehna Martin Coghlan of Ruth, died Aug. 26, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson. Arrangements are incomplete at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb.

Carolyn J. Varnado

Carolyn Jean Jones Varnado, 65, of Summit, died Aug. 25, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in Summit and continue until services there at 11 a.m. Elder Rufus Rawls will officiate, and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Summit.

Mrs. Varnado was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Summit. She was the daughter of Sarah Jones of Summit and the late Albert Jones.

She dedicated her life to ministering, motivating and lending a helping hand to others. She based her daily walk with Christ on, “Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptation, knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James 1-2 ).

Survivors include her husband, Otis Varnado Jr. of Summit; one daughter, Jacqueline Varnado of Riverdale, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and Valerie Varnado of Summit; her mother, Sarah; two sisters, Thelma Jackson of Summit and Shirley Redick and her husband Darrel of Los Angeles; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harry Jones of College Park, Ga., and Lester and Allie Jones of Summit; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Varnado Swington of Summit; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend and cousin, Amelia Nash; other special friends, including Claudette Robinson and Deborah McNulty, both of Summit, Mrs. Oral Rawls of Jackson and Mrs. Chillora Stokes of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Mary Butler Morris

Mary Butler Morris, 89, of McComb, died Aug. 23, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church until services there at 2 p.m. Bishop Robert Thompson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, with Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morris was born May 15, 1920, in Amite County, to Alexis and Hattie Butler.

She was a member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir until her health failed. She was previously a member of Brown Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she was baptized at an early age.

She was affectionately called “Aunt Muchie” and was known for her loving smile.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Morris; two sons, David Lee and Johnny Ray Morris; one grandson, Johnny Ray; one granddaughter, Marilyn Morris; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sisters, Eunice Givens of McComb and Frankie Kinzy of Houston, Texas; one devoted brother, Tommy Butler and his wife Ollie of Summit; six devoted grandsons; two granddaughters-in-law, Patsy Morris and Latrica Morris, both of McComb; 14 great-grandchild of McComb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
