John T.C. White
John Titus Charles White, an infant, of Brookhaven, died April 14, 2009, at River Oaks Hospital in Jackson.
Services were 1 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Burial was in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven was in charge of arrangements.
John was born April 14, 2009. He was the son of Howard LaRon “Peanut” White and Michelle Nicole Glidewell.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Hollis Howard White; great-aunt, Beverly Ann Riguad; one infant brother; grandfather, John Wesley Glidewell III; great-grandmother, Rutha Hellus; and an uncle, Jackie Wilson.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Ethan Garth Monroe White; grandparents, Howard and Rhonda White of Brookhaven, and Joanne Lisa Glidewell of Pearl; great-grandmother, Laura Louise White of Brookhaven; aunt and uncle, Danyelle and Glen Owens of Ruth; another aunt, Lydia Williams of Pearl; and a host of cousins.
Ricky Dillon
Ricky Dillon, 51, of New Orleans, died April 17, 2009, at University Hospital in New Orleans, after a sudden illness. Arrangements are incomplete with Craft Funeral Home in McComb in charge.
Carolyn Knox
Carolyn Knox, 54, of Chicago and formerly of Smithdale, died April 19, 2009, at a hospital in Chicago. Arrangements are incomplete with Craft Funeral Home in McComb in charge.
Ouida Thompson
Ouida Estella Moak Thompson, 97, of Smithfield, N.C., died there April 17, 2009, at Smithfield Manor.
Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield. Local visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, followed by graveside services in Hollywood Cemetery.
She was born March 4, 1912, in Pike County. She was the daughter of the late Rufus Levi and Courtney Herrington Moak.
She was the widow of Jewell Bickham Thompson, who died in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, James Bickham Thompson of Smithfield and Lee Moak Thompson of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, James E. Moak of Starkville and Robert Louie Moak of Bossier City, La.; a sister, Ester Lee Jackson of McComb; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to a church or charity of choice.

Maxine H. Cox
Maxine Hadwin Cox, 85, of Baton Rouge, died April 20, 2009, at her residence.
Arrangements are incomplete with Greenoaks Funeral Home of Baton Rouge.

Lela W. Banks
Lela Beatrice Wells Banks, 86, of McComb died April 16, 2009, at her residence.
Visitation is noon today at Walker’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in McComb until services there at 6 p.m. Pastor Gregory Partman will officiate, and burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood North Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home of McComb.
Mrs. Banks was born Sept. 20, 1922, in McComb. She was the fourth of seven children born to Williams Wells Sr. and Lotis Scott Wells and the last surviving child of the seven.
Her family said she was a devoted wife, loving mother and dear friend to many in her community and church. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Walker’s Chapel, where she was one of only two remaining members baptized by the organizer and first pastor, the late Rev. J.A. Walker.
Mrs. Banks was known for her generosity to others, her dedication to her family and her diligent work in the church until her health failed, according to the family. At Walker’s Chapel she was the last original member of the Gospel Chorus, which honored her in 2007 for 65 years as a member of the choir. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, junior choir sponsor and Easter program coordinator. She was faithful in attendance at her church and numerous other churches until her health failed.
Mrs. Banks married Prentiss Banks Sr. on April 13, 1946, after a three-month courtship. They had been married 51 years when he died. Ironically, she died on the 12th anniversary of his death, and her funeral will be on the 12th anniversary of his service.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Ella Beavers, Gladys Whyte and Frances Marie Martin; three brothers, William Wells Jr., Zebton Clarence “Z.T.” Wells and John Wesley “Disco” Wells; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and her father-in-law, Edward Banks.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Prentiss Jr. and Dessie of McComb; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorraine and Robert Gayden of Summit and Bobbie J. Banks of Calumet City, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Tarja Michelle Banks, Shawanda and Marcus Wilson, Robin and Willie Alexander, Prentiss Banks III, Tyronda Swearington and Roderick Swearington, all of McComb, Toni and Cortez Brown of Hazel Crest, Ill., Teré Magee of Chicago, Tammy Taylor of Liberty and Constance and Kaazon Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.; her mother-in-law, Rita Spurlock Banks of McComb; four sisters-in-law, Lillie Mae Wells, Thelma R. Banks, Ruby L. Bennett and Gracie R. Banks, all of McComb; a godson, Lee Edward Young of Farmington Hills, Mich.; 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, her church family, and special caregivers, Janice Howard, Serena Bates and Jonell Quinn, all of McComb, Tawanna Carson of Tylertown and Liz Nunnery of Magnolia.
Marilyn ‘Micky’ Cooper
Marilyn “Micky” Cooper, 70, a former longtime resident of McComb and wife of Jimmy Cooper, died April 23, 2009, at her residence in Woodland Park, Colo.

Kayla K’Ann Dawson
Kayla K’Ann Dawson, 18, of Liberty, died April 26, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, and 9 a.m. Tuesday until services there at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in New Hope Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery.
Miss Dawson was born Dec. 27, 1990. She was the daughter of Kristi Dawson and Ricky Zion and Kevin and Becky Dawson, all of Liberty.
Miss Dawson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roger and Flora Mae Dawson and Charles and Avis Zion, all of Gloster.
Survivors include her parents; three sisters, Kimberly Toler, Kelli Dawson and Robbie Dawn Shell, all of Liberty; her grandparents, George and Judy Zion of Centreville and Robert and Laura Prescott of Magnolia; a niece, Lauren Toler of Liberty; a nephew, Brody Toler of Liberty; and a host of uncles and aunts.
Pallbearers will be Justin Temple, Josh Terrell, Brandon Bateman, Jwayne Baxter, Brandon Jones, Rusty Knighton, Joel Wall and Cody Savoy.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Amite School Center 2009 Senior Class.
Deborah Fenn
Deborah Fenn, 51, a resident of Summit and the wife of Reggie Fenn, died April 26, 2009, at her residence.

George Decondris
George Dennis Decondris, 84, of McComb, died April 25, 2009, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and continue until services at 3:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, La.
Mr. Decondris was born Aug. 9, 1924, in New Orleans, to Dennis and Robertine Roberts Decondris.
He was a retired ship fitter and was a former resident of Chalmette, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine Switzer.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Godwin Decondris of McComb; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Decondris of McComb; a sister, Anita Burch of Metairie, La.; two grandchildren, Kristen Decondris of McComb and Josh Decondris and his wife Ashleigh of Patterson, La.; and two great-grandsons, James and Andrew Decondris of Patterson.

Marilyn Cooper
Marilyn “Mickie” Cooper, 70, a lifelong resident of McComb, died unexpectedly April 23, 2009, at her home in Woodland Park, Colo.
Visitation is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb until services there at 1 p.m. The Revs. J. Frank Smith and Woody Rimes will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper was born March 3, 1939, in Carthage to R.T. and Nancy Barnett.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, McComb, and a graduate of Magnolia High School, where she was an honor student, member of several clubs and a Bear Cat cheerleader, and where she met her lifelong friend, Treasure Smith.
Mrs. Cooper and her husband, Jimmy, had only recently moved to Colorado to enjoy their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
They were married June 14, 1957, in Vicksburg and shared a special and loving relationship for 52 years that only few are blessed to share. Mrs. Cooper’s family said, “They had a special love and way of expressing it, known only to them of 52½ years. Jimmy always loved Mickie in life and will in death. She was a devout Christian and was a loving friend to many and was also an extra special and extra specially loved MoMo.
“She was a very special and much loved lady who will be missed deeply by all whose life she touched. Mickie’s life was her family and she was a wonderful and dedicated homemaker.”
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Dunaway and Patty Barnett; and her parents-in-law, E.O. and Pearlie Cooper.
Survivors include her husband of 52 ½ years, Jimmy Cooper of Woodland Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mark Maluschka of Woodland Park; a granddaughter, Amber Maluschka of Woodland Park; a sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Bill Porter of Columbia; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Chisholm Jr.
William “Junior” Chisholm Jr., 76, of McComb, died April 28, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation continued at 1 p.m. today at Jones Family Funeral Services until services there at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Hugh Lambert and the Rev. Bill Mahan officiating. Burial is in Montgomery Cemetery in Lincoln County.
Mr. Chisholm was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Franklin County, to William and Aline Cook Chisholm.
He was a retired boilermaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. His family said he was a hard worker and passed that trait on to his children. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Chisholm was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Betty Sue Reid; and two brothers, Frank and Prentiss Chisholm.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Juanita Chisholm of McComb; a son, Billy Joe Chisholm of McComb; a daughter, Teresa Davidson and her husband Robert of Humble, Texas; two brothers, James Chisholm and his wife Irene of Magnolia and Clifton Chisholm and his wife Shirley of Denham Springs, La; a sister, Geraldine Freeman and her husband Donald of Marshall, Ark.; five grandchildren, Joseph Reid, Mallory Monier, Michael Reid, Philip Monier and Ashley Reid; and two great- grandchildren, Adam and Autumn Reid.
Pallbearers will be Duke Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, Jerry Freeman, Charles Wayne Freeman, Curtis Edmonds and Ronnie Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Freeman and Lester Smith.
