Joe Wayne Davis

Joe Wayne Davis, 60, of Centreville, died there May 5, 2009, at Field Memorial Community Hospital.

Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Newman Funeral Home in Centreville and will continue at 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Methodist Church in Centreville until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Warren Whitaker and Dr. Dennis Johnsey will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery in Centreville.

Mr. Davis was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Woodville, to Joe Vernon Davis and Mary Anita Davis.

He was a truck driver for McDaniel Logging and had attended Pioneer Baptist Church for many years. He was an avid hunter and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Wayne Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Davis of Centreville; one son, Adam Clayton Davis and his fianceé Cindy Carter of Hattiesburg; one sister, Ann McGraw and her husband Harrison of Centreville; a brother-in-law, Charles Goolsby of American Canyon, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Billie Ruth Goolsby of Centreville; two sisters-in-law, Alicia Stringer and Sue Ellen Goolsby, both of Summit; and a nephew, Brice Bankston.

Pallbearers will be Adam Davis, Brian Smith, Dustin Bankston, Ron Bankston, Josh Stringer and Aaron Goolsby.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harrison McGraw, Boyce Davis, Jerry Enis Jr., Donald Enis, Charles Goolsby, Chris Sterling, Wesley Sterling Jr. and Dennis McDaniel.

Franklin B. Moak

Franklin Burton “Britt” Moak, 73, of Magnolia, died May 6, 2009, at his home after a long illness.

Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, then 9 a.m. Saturday until services at 11. The Rev. Ron Boysel will officiate. Burial will be in Moak’s Creek Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Mr. Moak was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Lincoln County, to John A. and Odessa Hux Moak.

He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, a graduate of Johnston Station School, and a Mason with Sincerity Lodge No. 214 and Silver Springs Lodge No. 410. He was past Master of both lodges and member of the Scottish Rite Masons. He was a member of Gussie Evans Chapter No. 243 and was Past Patron.

Mr. Moak’s family said he thoroughly enjoyed his work. He was an umpire and a member of the Rotary Association. He retired from Kellwood Co., where he worked for 42 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Phyllis Lofton; three sisters, Julia Moak, Katherine Crews and Mary Smith; two sisters in- laws, Rita Moak and Margarit Moak; and three brothers, Fred C. Moak Sr., Walter William “Bill” Moak and Everette Lamar Moak.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Ethel H. Moak; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald W. Moak of Brooklyn, Walter A. Moak of Biloxi, Wayne and Wanda Musselwhite of West Monroe, La., and Robert and Debbie Musselwhite of Sherman, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Victoria M. Deere of McComb and Susan and Darren Pigott of Summit; grandchildren, Julia L. Deere, Joni Smith Lambert and Jimmy Lambert, Tish and J.R. Everette, Codi Musselwhite and Jolee Musselwhite, all of McComb, Gordon Smith of Lucedale, Bobby and Audrey Smith of Summit, Daniel Musselwhite of West Monroe, and Brandi and Sal Rayborn, and Kary G. Duncan and Layla Duncan, all of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Lee Rayborn, Alyssa Rayborn, Brooklyn Rayborn, Darren Rayborn, Katherine Rayborn, Emily Lambert, Jeremy Lambert and Anna Everett; two sisters, Rhoda Jean Westbrook and her husband, William “Bill” and Helen Boyd and husband Oliver; a brother, John Lee and wife Frances; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jan A. Quin, Marcus Wayne Honea, Joe Lane Pigott, Carol Fortenberry, Claude Mullins and James Bryant. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Joe Smith, Tommy Myers, members of Sincerity Lodge No. 214 and members of Silver Springs Lodge No. 410.

John W. King

John W. King, 68, of Ruth, died May 9, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Ruth Baptist Church. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ruth Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. King was born April 24, 1941, in Ruth. He was the son of Homer King and Bonnie Alexander Knight.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Ruth Baptist Church.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James, Ed, Walter and Henry King; and three sisters, Nell Maxwell, Marie Nations and Charlene McCullough.

Survivors include his wife, Jannilla D. King of Ruth; two sons, Willie Ray King of Ruth and Gary Wayne King of Amite, La.; three daughters, Rita Faye Miller of Iota, La., Teresa Lynn Givins of Ruth and Angela Darlene Busby of Brookhaven; two brothers, John David King of Pelahatchie and Boyd Calvin King of Columbus; one sister, Mary June Dunaway of McComb; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Richard Campbell

Richard O. Campbell, 70, of McComb, died May 10, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Visitation is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, until memorial services there at 1 p.m.

Rita Joyce Rhodes

Rita Joyce Rhodes, 63, of McComb, died May 7, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 tonight at Peoples Undertaking Co. in McComb. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove East McComb Baptist Church, with the Rev. Hilton Harrell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pike Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Rhodes was born April 21, 1946. She was the daughter of Earnest and Ruby Lee Robinson Johns.

She was an independent tax accountant for 30 years.

Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joyce Johns.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Rhodes of McComb; one son, Curtis Rhodes Jr. of McComb; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Alton Johns of Baldwin Hill, Calif., Baltimore Johns and Lawanna of Inglewood, Calif., Cornelius Bell and Donna of Lawrence, Kan., and Earnest Johns Jr. and Kathy of Newton, Kan.; three sisters, Barbara Lee and her husband Larry, and Gloria and Sheron Johns, all of Newton, Kan.; four grandchildren, all of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hubert Reid

Hubert Reid, 64, of Hernando, died May 9, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Memphis Funeral Home, Germantown Parkway Chapel in Bartlett, Tenn. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Larry McCullum will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Hill Gardens in Bartlett.

Mr. Reid was born April 19, 1945, in Tylertown. He was the son of the late Tyson T. Reid and the late Earline Wallace Reid.

He was a sheet metal mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Reid; three daughters, Glenda Schmidt, Angie Salazar and Amie Salazar; one son, Shane Sowell; one sister, Patsy Reid; two brothers, Wayne and Larry Reid; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wesley L. Marbury

Wesley L. Marbury, 87, of Fernwood, died May 11, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Arrangements are incomplete with Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb in charge.

Richard Campbell

Richard O. Campbell, 70, of McComb, died May 10, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Visitation is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb until memorial services there at 1 p.m., with Dr. David Millican officiating.

Mr. Campbell was born April 12, 1939, in Jackson. He was the son of the late Frank Howze and Thelma Chambers Campbell.

He was a retired security guard for Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. He was a graduate of McComb High School and was a member of the Irving, Texas, Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his son, Ricky Campbell of Irving; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank Campbell Sr. and Glenda of McComb; one sister, Carolyn Ann Campbell of McComb; and one nephew, Frank Campbell Jr.

Ernest Nobles

Ernest “Bo-Bo” Nobles, 61, of McComb, died May 11, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete with Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb in charge.

Joseph S. Reeves

Joseph S. “Joe” Reeves, 67, of Baton Rouge, died May 10, 2009, at his home surrounded by his children after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. Visitation will resume at Broadmoor Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday until services at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jarrett Banks, Dr. John Goodwin and Dr. George Haille. A graveside service will held at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb,

Mr. Reeves was born Nov. 1, 1941, in McComb to Joseph Sauls Reeves and Shirley Elizabeth Barrett Reeves.

His family said he was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Joe was a charter member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and was a member for 52 years. He was an avid hunter and was blessed to have hunted all over the world, including Africa, where he felt the happiest and most peaceful. He was a lifetime member of Safari Club International, National Rifle Association, Rifle Associations Golden Eagles and The Hunters Run Gun Club.

His career in heavy equipment sales spanned more than 47 years. He was very successful in his career and was truly one of a kind. At the time of his death, he was employed with Doggett Machinery Services.

He loved history, animals and hunting and had tremendous knowledge in these areas. He was a strong man who had a great love for his family and friends.

Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dura Reeves.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Todd Griffin of Baton Rouge, and Amy and Andrew Mohr of Denham Springs, La.; one son, Joseph “Scott” Reeves of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Jessica Lane Griffin, Mason Reeves Griffin, Alexandra Elizabeth Mohr and Aubrey Summer Mohr; two sisters and brothers-in-law, June Barrett Reeves and Frank Cacamisse, and Susan Beth White and King White; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Branham; and two step-grandchildren, Lance Lemoine III and Brennan Lemoine.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bahlinger, Fred Caddell, Ed Cotton, Dr. Carl Helouin, Louis Ikerd, Rannie Kean, Gary Patureau and Wayne Thornhill.

Mennie Varnado

Mennie Varnado, 89, of Magnolia, died May 11, 2009, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty.

Arrangements are incomplete with Peoples Undertaking Co. in McComb in charge.
