Milton J. Andrews, 77, died May 11, 2009, at Regency Hospital in Covington, La.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, until services there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Wilma ‘Billie’ Brock

Wilma Louise “Billie” Andrews Brock, 84, died May 6, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, with the Rev. Elizabeth Gabbard and Pastor Charles Ray officiating. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brock was born March 12, 1925, in Magnolia, in the family home at 135 W. Myrtle St., with all three of the physicians in Magnolia in attendance. She was the daughter of Fred Clifton Andrews of Magnolia and Pauline Louise Overcash Andrews of China Grove, in Rowan County, N.C.

She was educated in the public schools of Magnolia, Belhaven College and the University of Alabama, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

She married Dr. Ralph Lucius Brock of McComb on June 14, 1947, in the Magnolia Presbyterian Church, and they became the parents of four daughters.

In 1949, “Billie” and Dr. Brock moved to McComb, where she was actively involved in many church and civic activities. She was a lifetime member of the Magnolia Presbyterian and J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian churches and held many offices in the Women of the Church.

She was a lifetime member of the McComb Junior Auxiliary and was selected as queen of the JA Azalea Ball in 1977. She was a 50-year member of the Crescite Club. She and Ralph served as co-presidents of the Pike County Arts Council in 1980.

She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the McComb Garden and Flower Lovers clubs. She also served as president of the Hughes Elementary School PTA.

Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by two infant daughters; her parents; her paternal grandparents, William Pinckney Andrews and Celissa Ophelia Simmons of Pike County; and maternal grandparents, Hinton Raleigh Overcash and Leah Louisa Anzanetta Kimball of Rowan County, N.C.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Ralph Brock of McComb; two daughters, Brenda Leah Brock McIntyre and husband Jim of Jackson, and Nancy Louise Brock of Brazoria, Texas; two grandsons, Andrew Brock McIntyre and Nolan Fife McIntyre of Jackson; a step-granddaughter, Hannah J. McIntyre of Austin, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hinton and Jane Andrews of Miramar Beach, Fla., Thad and Alice Andrews of Greenwood, and Paul and Janice Andrews of Huntsville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Feldman, Chip Gibbes, Bill Mitchell, Tommy Ratcliff, Whitney Rawlings and Noggin Wild. Honorary pallbearers will be Hinton Andrews, Paul Andrews, Thad Andrews, Jep Brock, Jim Brock, Newton H. James, Dr. W.M. Kennedy, David Kimble and Ron Yates.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund at J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church, P.O. Willie P. Daniels

Willie P. Daniels, 77, of Baker, La., and formerly of Magnolia, died May 7, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Arrangements are incomplete with Craft Funeral Home in McComb in charge of services.

Ernest E. Carter

Ernest E. “Bulldog” Carter, 63, of Osyka, died May 1, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, after a long illness.

Visitation is 9 a.m. Saturday at Tangipahoa M.B. Church, until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Peoples Undertaking Co. in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carter was born March 7, 1946, in Osyka to Joseph and Rachel Carter.

He was an offshore worker years ago until his health begin to fail. He was a member of Tangipahoa M.B. Church and attended Osyka public schools.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Earl and Jervis Carter; and a grandson, McKenzie Corey Hughes Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa A. Robinson Carter of Osyka; three daughters, Tywanna, Shwanna and Lakeitha Carter, all of Osyka; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Carrie Carter and Leo and Geraldine Carter of Morristown, N.J.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice Arnita and Ronnie Williams of Morristown, N.J., and Senterita Carter of Osyka; two aunts, Cloteal Conn of New Orleans and Ida Bell Stevenson of LaPlace, La.; two sisters-in-law, Jennifer Hart and husband Lamont of Kentwood, La., and Selina Cooper of Beaumont, Texas; a brother-in-law, Gregory Robinson and wife Antra of Jackson; a special friend, James Robert; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Robinson, James Robert, Larry Walton, Robert Bells Rocharles Roberts and Lamont Shephard.

Georgia L. Williams

Georgia Lea Leonard Williams, 83, of McComb, died May 6, 2009, at McComb Extended Care, where she had lived and been entrusted for about two years and had been in the care of hospice about one day.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, and 2 p.m. Sunday until services there at 3 p.m., with Dr. David Millican officiating. Entombment will be in Hollywood Mausoleum.

Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Sartinville, to Warren and Nanny Leonard.

She was a graduate of Bogue Chitto High School and was a longtime member of North McComb Baptist Church. She was in business in McComb until retirement.

Mrs. Williams can be remembered by many in McComb as the director of the Courtyard, where many teens of the 1960s visited and knew her as Mrs. Wilson and were able to take their dates to dances she and members of local Beta Sigma Phi hosted.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ernest L. Wilson, who died in 1975; her second husband, Bill Pickens; and her third husband, Sam Williams, to whom she was married for 11 years.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommy Wilson of McComb and Donny and Doris Wilson of Blountsville, Ala.; two granddaughters, Candace Rice of Birmingham, Ala., and Brittany Wilson of Blountsville; four grandsons, Christian Wilson of Summit, and Jay Wilson, Phillip Wilson and Rusty Wilson, all of McComb; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Era Jane T. Grubbs

Era Jane Toney Grubbs, 95, of Tylertown, died May 7, 2009, at her residence.

Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown and noon Saturday at Union Baptist Church until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Millard Moak and the Rev. Mark Wicker will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Grubbs was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Walthall County, to Oscar and Lottie Toney.

She was a homemaker and member of Union Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Grubbs; an infant son; her stepmother, Velma Toney; two sisters, Mae Jones and Alyne Boyd; and two brothers, Dan Toney and Albert Toney.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Homer Bennett of Tylertown, and Frances and Earl Ayers of Euless, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Sue Grubbs of Tylertown; a sister, Georgine Magee of Tylertown; a brother, Ottis Toney of Grenada; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, a host of friends; and her caretakers, Ellen Bridges, Elmesa Quinn, Essie Nicks, Everline Jackson and Dianie Bridges.

Pallbearers are Johnny Wayne Bennett, Mike Holmes, Jerry McElveen, Don McCallum, Junior Rushing, Marion McKenzie and Michael Grubbs.

Wesley L. Marbury

Wesley L. Marbury, 87, of Fernwood, died May 11, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, and 9 a.m. Thursday until services there at 10 a.m., with Dr. Emon White and the Rev. Wayne Hall officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hollywood cemetery.

Mr. Marbury was born March 17, 1922, in Jayess. He was the son of Johnnie V. and Rosa Reid Marbury.
He was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the 35th Infantry Division. During his time in the service, he served in the European Theater Operations and received two Bronze Stars. After serving in the war, he returned to Pike County and worked for Fernwood Industries as a treatment engineer. Sixty-three years after his service to his country, Mr. Marbury received the “Thank-You America Certificate” from the Embassy of France.

Mr. Marbury was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Dewey Marbury and Buford Marbury and triplet infant brothers.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Maxine McCormick Marbury of Fernwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Melva and James Hucabee of Magnolia; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Bessie Marbury of McComb; one sister, Vondell Cothern of Enon; two sisters-in-law, Louise Marbury of McComb and June Poole of Meridian; three grandchildren and their spouses, Dori and John Rushing of New Orleans, Dawn and Clark Brady of McComb and Malcolm and Jennifer Hucabee of Liberty; five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Conner Brady, Brennan and Quade Rushing and Wyatt Hucabee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Malcolm Hucabee, John Rushing, Clark Brady, Randy Marbury, Rusty Marbury and Danny Marbury. Honorary pallbearers are David Marbury and Butch Cothern.

Milton J. Andrews Sr.

Milton J. Andrews Sr., 77, of Pearl River, La., died May 11, 2009, at Regency Hospital in Covington, La.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, until services there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Morris officiating.Mr. Andrews was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Mississippi to Cyril W. Andrews and Cassie Prescott Andrews.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rae Andrews; and a son, Daniel Winston Andrews.

He had a great fondness for hunting, fishing and tending to his large garden whenever he was able.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Milton John Andrews Jr. and Rhonda of Pearl River; two grandchildren, Katelyn Andrews and Danyelle Andrews of Pearl River; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Eric Tarver, John Andrews, Randy Adam, Jason Garrettson, Scott Mitchell and Joe Anglade.

Tammy L. Stafford

Tammy Lynn Stafford, 34, of McComb, died May 8, 2009, at her residence.

Services were 10 a.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Burial was in Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stafford was born Feb. 11, 1975. She was the daughter of Patricia Anne McDavitt McClelland and the late George Ronald McClelland.

She was a homemaker. She was certified and had a nurses aid degree and a pharmacy technician degree. She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Mrs. Stafford was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Beverly Ann Riguad; and one great-nephew, John Titus Charles White.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Lee Stafford; one son, James Benjamen Allen; two daughters, Hayley Tate Allen and Kristal Nicole Galloway; one sister, Rhonda Sue White; a brother-in-law, Howard Bernard White; grandparents, Belle and Douglas LaFrance; and a great-aunt, Katherine Jones.
