James M. Bridges of Summit died Sept. 28, 2000, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in New Orleans.

Arrangements are incomplete with Young’s Funeral Home of Summit in charge.

M.C. Carroll

M.C. Carroll died Sept. 19, 2000, in Louisville, Ky.

Arrangements are incomplete with Peoples Undertaking Co. of McComb in charge.

John Burton

John Burton, 78, of McComb, died Sept. 29, 2000, at his residence.

Visitation will be today at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, La., from 10 a.m. until services there at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Killian Chapel Cemetery in Hillsdale, La.

He was born in Neshoba County, Jan 1, 1922. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Burton.

Mr. Burton was an insurance adjuster for GMAC. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sue Walker; a son, Bobby Burton; a stepson, Dennis McAllister; and a brother, Leon Burton.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Montalbano Burton of McComb; a grandson, Shawn Walker of Brandon; a sister, Annie Ruth McMullen of River Ridge, La.; two stepdaughters, Vicki Mason of Summit, JoAnn Hose of Amite, La.; three step-grandchildren, Tommy Ballard, Tany Taylor and Lindsey Taylor.

Charlie Foster

Charlie Foster, 61, of McCall Creek, died of cancer Sept. 29, 2000, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven.

Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Pentecostal Lighthouse in Meadville with the Rev. Ron Bohde, the Rev. Sam Howard and the Rev. Alan B. Lehmann officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at McCall Creek.

Mr. Foster was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Franklin County. He was the son of Horace and Jennie Bell Ellington Foster.

He was an automobile rebuilder and owner of Ranger City in Meadville. He attended Pentecostal Lighthouse in Meadville.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Foster of McCall Creek; two sons, Lane and Pat Foster of McCall Creek; two daughters, Teresa Stokes of Liberty and Angela Foster of McCall Creek; six brothers, Edward Foster of McCall Creek, Freddie and Donald Foster, both of Jackson, Calvin Foster of Bude, and Darius and Mickey Foster of Meadville; one sister, Aline Chisholm of Bude and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Edward, Freddie, Donald, Calvin, Darius and Mickey Foster. Honorary pallbearer is Charles “Moon” Froust.

Ceola W. Baker

Ceola W. Baker, 90, of Magnolia, died Sept. 25, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, with the Rev. James C. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Baker was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Amite County. She was the daughter of George and Annie Hampton Weatherspoon.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Baker is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buford Baker; seven brothers and eight sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Hattie Bernice B. Crudup of Norfolk, Va.; one son, Rene’ Baker of Magnolia; one son-in-law, William E. Crudup Jr. of Norfolk; two brothers, John and Joe “Audrey” Weatherspoon, both of Magnolia; one sister, Mary W. Mitchell of Magnolia; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Jane P. Busby

Jane P. Busby, 79, of Jayess, died Sept. 27, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale with the Rev. Harold Gartman and the Rev. G.W. Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Busby was born June 30, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa. Her mother was the late Mae Little Paterson.

She was retired from McComb Extended Care Nursing Home, where she was employed as a nurse. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pricedale. She held many teaching positions through the years. She was a member of the choir, which brought her great joy, and was very active in the WMU.

Mrs. Busby was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Frank D. Busby Sr.; and a sister, Helen P. Grady.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, F. David Busby Jr. and Martha of McComb, George H. and Sharon Busby of Clinton, John R. and Ellie Busby of Ruth and Joe R. and Melanie Busby of Hayes, Kans.; one daughter, Letha B. Greer and her husband Legette of Jayess; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three nephews.

Pallbearers were Jon Thomas Greer, Jeremy Greer, Gregory Greer, Christopher Busby, Nathan Busby and Steven Bowling. Honorary pallbearers are Grant, Paul, Lance, Ross and Barry Busby.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Children’s Village or The American Heart Association.

Thelma I. McEwen

Thelma Inez McEwen, 88, of Magnolia, died Sept. 30, 2000, at Walthall County General Hospital in Tylertown.

Arrangements are incomplete with People’s Funeral Home in charge.

Mildred A. Locke

Mildred Estelle Allison Locke, 89, of Fountain Hill, Ark., died Sept. 30, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center in Hamburg, Ark.

Services were 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg Inc., with the Rev. Clyde Mitchell Jr. officiating. Burial was in Flat Creek Cemetery of Fountain Hill.

Mrs. Locke was born Oct. 4, 1910, in Fountain Hill. She was the daughter of John William Allison and Tempie Jones Allison.

She was a homemaker and worked during World War II at the defense plant in Jacksonville, Ark. She was a member of Hollis Chapel Baptist Church. She had also lived in California and Smackover, Ark.

Mrs. Locke was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theron Locke; three brothers, Herbert, Noel and Quentin Allison; and two sisters, Inez McGilton and Barbara High.

Survivors include two brothers, James Allison and Bobby Allison, both of Fountain Hill; three sisters, Lois Ford of Hamburg, Doris Scott of Ringgold, La., and Olive McNiece of McComb; and a host of nieces and nephews.

W.B. Young

Wiley Britton Young, 81, of McComb, died Oct. 1, 2000, at Bea-cham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, and continues there at 10 a.m. Wednesday until services at 2 p.m. in Catchings chapel. Dr. David Millican and the Rev. A.D. Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery of McComb.

Mae Lee

Mae Lee, 98, of Tylertown, died there Oct. 2, 2000, at Walthall County General Hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete with Capps Funeral Home of Tylertown in charge.

W.B. Young

Wiley Britton Young, 81, of McComb, died Oct. 1, 2000, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.

Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, continuing at 10 a.m. Wednesday until services there at 2 p.m. Dr. David Millican and the Rev. A.D. Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

He was born June 1, 1919, in McComb. He was the son of Webb Young and Lela Belle Smith.

He was retired from Kellwood Co. in McComb, where he worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the Baptist faith, and a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Edna Simmons Young who died in July 1989; three brothers, John Frank Young, Wilbur A. King and Donald Young; one sister, Maggie Brister; and a grandson, Ron Young.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Paula Young of Pearl, James and Rhonda Young of McComb and David and Delores G. Young of McComb; five daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Gilbert “Bud” Stoddard of Erie, Pa., Judy and Douglas Wilson of Kentwood, La., Frances and Wilson Brister of Summit, Shirley and Larry Don Seale of McComb and Glenda and Gene Sharkey of McComb; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Gladys Young of League City, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Kevin Young, Don Seale, Jamie Young, Ricky Brister, Tommy Brister and Casey Bowlin. Honorary pallbearers will be C.T Richardson, James Callender and Willie J. Dillon.

Agnes T. Whittington Lee

Agnes Mae Thornhill Whittington Lee, 98, of Tylertown, died Oct. 2, 2000, at Walthall County General Hospital.

Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Douglas Lee officiating. Burial will be in Thornhill Cemetery of Walthall County.

Mrs. Lee was born Dec. 23, 1901, in old Pike County. She was the daughter of Webster Thornhill and Betty Simmons Thornhill.

She was a retired nurse and worked for many years at Tylertown Hospital, which has been closed for some time. A lifelong resident of Walthall County, she was a member of Union Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Oliver Q. Whittington Sr. and John H. Lee Sr.; three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Oliver Q. Whittington Jr. and Betty Cupid Whittington of Raceland, La., and John H. Lee Jr. and Nancye McDavid Lee of Magnolia; one daughter, Betty Whittington Walker of Arlington, Texas; one stepson and his wife, Ray Gordon Lee and Marie Mulkey Lee of Sandy Hook; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Josh Newman, Jake Newman, Justin McDaniel, John Michael Walker, Jeff Harvey and Brad Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Ricky Lee, Raymond Lee, Bret Barcroft and Bart Barcroft.
