Dorothy Jean Haynes

Dorothy Jean Haynes, 74, of Ellisville, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, at Mt. Aide Baptist Church in Ellisville, with burial in Ellisville Cemetery. The Rev. Lamar McGilberry will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Roy and Vera Goins; husband, Robert Haynes; and a son, Demetrius Willis.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Sachular Thompson of Hattiesburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Felicia and Michael Clark of Ellisville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew; and a great-neice and great-nephew.

Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mt. Aide Baptist Church.

Henry Marion Bridges

Henry Marion Bridges, 80, of Laurel, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with burial in McGill Cemetery in Jones County. Revs. Kenneth Harrison and Lavon Holifield will officiate.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a retired oilfield worker and a member of Sandersville Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George F. Bridges and two sisters, Juanita Bridges and Pauline Holifield.

He is survived by his wife, Christine S. Bridges of Laurel; a daughter, Diane Bridges Roohani and her husband, Saeed of Lincoln, R.I.; two brothers, Talmadge Bridges and Cecil P. Bridges, both of Heidelberg; two sisters, Wilma Fall of Sandersville and Mary Alice Boone of Moss; an uncle, Curtis Bridges; one granddaughter, Keyana N. Roohani, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be George A. Bridges, Delbert Bridges, Johnny Ray Holifield, Chris Hodge, John Barton and Steve Barton. Honorary pallbearers will be Troyce Smith and Cameron Smith.

Visitation is Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at Memory Chapel Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Lee McKinley

Dorothy Lee McKinley, 77, of Bay Springs, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at Jasper General Hospital.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with burial in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Bay Springs.

She was a member of New Home Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, John McKinley; three sons, Barney Bounds of Lake, Billy Bounds of Hillsboro and Terry McKinley of Ellisville; four daughters, Diane Bounds of Ellisville, Sharon Thompson of Moselle and Sandra Gray and Martha Downs, both of Bay Springs; four brothers, Alton Hall of Collins, Frank Hall and Willie Hall, both of Jackson, and Johnny Hall of Homewood; two sisters, Lee Comans of Lake and Mary Davis of Carthage; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-granchildren.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Marshall “Billy” Brown

James Marshall “Billy” Brown, 78, of Batesville, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at his residence.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at National Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Revs. Joe Brown and David Koon will officiate.

He was a retired owner of Clarksdale Refrigeration and a member of Rena Lara Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Daisy Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Taylor Brown of Batesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Bonnie Brown of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Joy and Marshall Jenkins of Oxford; sister, June Strider of Rena Lara; brothers, Carthell “Chicken” Brown and John Charles Brown, both of Rena Lara; five grandchildren, Joey Sumrall of Soso, Kelly Ross of Olive Branch, Matthew Waymer, Amanda Waymer and Sarah Jenkins, all of Oxford; and five great-grandchildren, Tripp Sumrall, Jake Sumrall, Katie Beth Sumrall, all of Soso, Kiersten Ross and Julia Ross, both of Olive Branch.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at National Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Bertie E. Graham

Bertie E. Graham, 86, of Collins, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at County Line Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Welch-Graham Cemetery in Ellisville. Elders Everett Broome, James Broome and Billy Mack Lowery will officiate.

She was homemaker and a member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Viola Thrash Thompson; her husband, John Wiley Graham; a son, John David Graham; a sister, Iva Lee Smith; brothers, Ray Thompson and Claudell Thompson; and a great-granddaughter, Brandi Graham.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Terry Bryant and Margaret and Perry “Oop” Herrington of Ellisville; daughter-in-law, Connie Graham Hill of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Anthony Graham, Michael Graham, Paul Graham, John Herrington, JoLynn Williamson, Terri Sue Stroud, James Wiley Bryant; special nephew and wife, Wayne and Missy Smith; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Graham, Michael Graham, Paul Graham, John Herrington, James Wiley Bryant, Tory Williamson and Steven Stroud. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Joe Thompson, Jody Thompson, Warren Graham, Wayne Graham, Matthew Pickering, Charles Keyes, Douglas Crosby, Johnathan Ford, Glen Graham, Dale Maskew and Wilford Tisdale.

David Palmer Holifield

David Palmer Holifield, 23, of Ellisville, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Oakland Grove Cemetery in Jones County. The Revs. Ross Patterson and Lamar Davis will officiate.

He was employed with Sanderson Farms and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Leanne Holifield of Ellisville; two sons, Alex Thomas Holifield and Blain Allen Holifield, both of Ellisville; parents, Thomas L. Holifield Jr. and Dennise Holifield of Laurel; two sisters, Tabatha Freeman of Seminary and Kristine Wood of Laurel; paternal grandmother, Judy Lowery Carney of Hattiesburg; maternal grandmother, Rosa A. Rose of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; and a host of other family members and friends.

Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Colby Anderson

Colby Anderson, 16, of Richton, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, on Highway 42 West in Richton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, at Richton First Assembly of God Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, at Richton First Assembly of God Church.

Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton is in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin Franklin Barlow

Benjamin Franklin Barlow, 96, of Louin, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Newton Regional Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Bay Springs Funeral Home in Bay Springs, with burial in Shelby Cemetery in Louin. The Rev. Cecil J. Ashford will officiate.

A native of Louin, he attended Community Center Baptist Church in Louin. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Fellon Barlow and Janie Barlow.

He is survived by two brothers, Rosha Barlow of Louin and George Barlow of California; two sisters, Mary Myers and Bessie Irene Anthony, both of Louin; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Bay Springs Funeral Home in Bay Springs, which is in charge of arrangements.

Essie Corine Cooley

Essie Corine Cooley, 84, of Vossburg, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at First Enterprise Baptist Convention Center in Heidelberg, with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Walker will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kate and Dee Newell and Frank Rhodes; a son, Jerry Cooley; a daughter, Mary Alice White; four sisters, Jimmie Newell Porter, Dicie McSwain, Charlene Jones and Lelia Ruth Hall; and six brothers, Edd Rhodes, Huey Rhodes, Frank Rhodes, Raymond Douglas Rhodes, Perry Lewis Rhodes and Walter Rhodes.

She is survived by seven sons and five daughters-in-law, Willie Cooley of Heidelberg, Earnest and Mildred Cooley of Chicago, Ill., George and Charlene Cooley of Quitman, James Douglas and Yvonne Cooley of Detroit, Mich., Moses and Mary Cooley and Sherman Gene and Lottie Cooley, all of Vossburg, and Reginald Cooley of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Katie and Amos Porter and Vickie Cooley, all of Heidelberg, and Sylvia and Nadil McDonald of Laurel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Martha Rhodes of Detroit, Mich., and J.D. and Johnnie Rhodes of Hartfield, Conn.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Annie Ruth and Henry Nelson of Chicago, Edna Austin of Detroit and Rosie Hodgies of San Antonio, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, at First Enterprise Baptist Convention Center in Heidelberg.

Christine Harmon

Christine Harmon, 78, of Laurel, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church in Laurel, with burial in Oak Hill #2 Cemetery. The Rev. Vernon Graves will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Heddie Harmon; a brother; and six sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Patricia Virgess of Laurel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Willie Jones of Heidelberg and Patricia and Robert Carter of Delaware; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,; nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church in Laurel.
