Brenda J. Halderman
Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Jones Halderman, 48, of McCool were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Halderman, a beautician, died April 7, 2002 at her residence. She was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by a daughter, Hollie Steele of Kosciusko; a son, Benjamin Frank Halderman II of McCool; her mother, Lola Woods Jones of McCool; a sister, Tene J. McQuirter of Kosciusko; two brothers, Robert A. "Bob" Jones of McCool and Travis Jones of Collierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edsel Ray Jones.
Officiating ministers were the Rev. Tony Black, the Rev. Jimmy Threadgill and the Rev. John Armstrong.
Pallbearers were Dwight Brantley, Charles Thomas Pender Jr., Roy Goss, Arlis "Bubba" Steen, Elvis Brantley, Bobby McKnight, Charles Kelly Black, Mark Bradberry, Larry Black, Mike Hutchinson, Pop Lawrence and Larry Milner.
Honorary pallbearers were personnel of the Attala County Sheriff's Department.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
Burin Kimbrough
Services for Burin Kimbrough, 84, of McCool were held April 3 at 2 p.m. at Abraham Chapel M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Kimbrough, a retired farmer, died March 27, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Attala County and a member of Abraham Chapel M.B. Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Gerthia G. Kimbrough; a daughter, Mary Helen Thompson of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, LaVance Kimbrough of New Orleans, La. and LaVoris Kimbrough of Newport, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. C.R. Stewart officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Tafton Miller, Jason Miller, Johnathan Johnson, Michael Brown, Cedric Whitfield and Guadamus Miller.
Winters Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Flossie Pearl Lucas
Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Pearl Lucas, 91, of Weir were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weir Baptist Church with burial in the Weir Cemetery.
Mrs. Lucas, a lifelong resident of Weir, was a member of the Weir Baptist Church. She died April 11, 2002 at the Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman.
The Rev. Curtis Guess and the Rev. Mark Mayo officiated with Nowell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Lewis Lucas of Weir; granddaughter, Paula Ann Satterfield of Madison, Ala., grandson, Jerry Wayne Lucas of Hope Hill, Kan.; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Harold Lucas and Earl Lucas, both of Weir.
She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Wayne Lucas.
Memorials may be made to Weir Baptist church.
Singleton Nolley
Funeral services for Singleton Nolley, 91, of Kosciusko were held April 10 at 11 a.m. at Center Hill Cemetery.
Nolley, a retired farmer, died April 7, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Leake County and a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Rev. William Hawthorne officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Horace C. Phillips
Funeral Services for Horace C. Phillips, 78, of Kosciusko were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Culpepper-Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Phillips, a native of Attala County, died April 14, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. He retired from International Paper Co. following 40 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He is survived by his wife, Dot Phillips of Kosciusko; two sons, Kim Phillips of Florence and Kit Phillips of Mendenhall; three daughters, Patricia and Randy Dew, Doreen Phillips of Kosciusko, Cheryl and Jimmy Jones of Jackson; a sister, Frances Brewer, of Jackson; three grandchildren.
The Rev. Barry Corbett officiated.
Pallbearers were Arthur Phillips, Johnny Phillips Jr., Thomas Phillips, Charles Phillips, Randy Dew and Jerry Phillips.
Ollie Pearl Phillips
Services for Mrs. Ollie Pearl Phillips, 88, of Winston County were held Saturday at 3 p. m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips, a native of Attala County, died April 10, 2002 at Louisville Health Care Center following an illness of several months. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ella Fulton of Kosciusko and Ms. Annie K. Phillips of Jackson; two sons, Willie Jack Phillips and William E. Phillips of Kosciusko; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Willie Young officiated with Winters Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Olivia B. Simpson
Services for Mrs. Olivia Burnley Simpson, 81, of Durant were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Durant Church of Christ with burial in the Sallis Cemetery.
Mrs. Simpson, a native of Attala County, died April 13, 2002 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of the Durant Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, John E. Simpson of Marietta, Ga. and Charles B. Simpson Jr. of Sallis; two daughters, Nancy Umphers of Durant and Shirley Burroff of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
Minister Paul Sparks officiated.
Pallbearers were Jason Burroff, Bailey Simpson, Buddy Simpson, Johnny Simpson, Shane Tucker and David Earl Hudgins.
Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence A. Cook
Funeral services for Clarence A. Cook, 98, of Kosciusko, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper-Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Providence Cemetery.
Cook, a native of Attala County, died June 8, 2002 at the Attala County Nursing Center. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by a son, Donald Cook of Vaiden; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Billy Little officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Ed McDonald, Stewart McDonald, Johnny Cook, Clark Cook, Anthony Cook and Patrick Cook.
Stephanie Jobe
Services for Mrs. Stephanie Jobe, 35, of Satartia, were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Jobe, a clinical technician, died June 5, 2002 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Robert Jobe Jr. of Satartia; her mother, Johnnie Carolyn Dallas of Satartia; three brothers, Bryce Dallas of Jackson, Phillip Dallas of Satartia, and Terence Dallas of Milton, Fla.; a grandson, Clayton Dallas Jobe.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Pierce Dallas.
The Rev. Larry Harvey and the Rev. Harvey Overstreet officiated.
Pallbearers were David Montgomery, Ken Mangrum, Jeffrey Mangrum, Mark Curtis, Duaine Evans and Jarvis Poche.
