Vivian L. Hobson

Graveside services for Mrs. Vivian L. Hobson, 58, of Kosciusko were held July 31 at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hobson, a native of Attala County, died July 30. 2003 at the Neshoba County Hospital. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother, Loree Heath of Kosciusko; a son, Wayne Ornsby of Kosciusko; a brother, Billy Heath of Arkansas; three grandchildren.

Rev. Harvey Overstreet and Rev. Daniel McFall officiated.

Pallbearers were Johnny Barber, Wayland Philley, Prentiss Hobson, Jason Rideout, Josh Baumunk and Chris McMurray.

Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Todd, Lee Roland, Daniel McFall Jr., Justin Todd, Allen Burchfield, Andrew Gregory and Alex Gregory.

Culpepper Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Rosie Lee Joiner

Services for Mrs. Rosie Lee Joiner, 96, of Pasadena, Calif., were held July 31 at 11 a.m. at Palestine M.B. Church with burial in Bullock Cemetery.
Mrs. Joiner, a native of Attala County, died July 24, 2003 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. She was a member of Palestine M.B. Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Luvenia Chillers of Chicago, Hazel Simmons, Sandra Joiner of Las Vegas, Nev., Bernice Simmons of Pasadena; two sons, Joe Fred Joiner and Jerry Niles Joiner of Altadena, Calif.; a sister, Fannie Mylus of Altadena; 33 grandchildren 48 great-grandchildren and 45 great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Fred Beck officiated.

Winters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Billy Joe King

Services for Billy Joe King, 76, of Weir were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Old Lebanon Cemetery.
King, retired from B&W Corp. in West Point, died Aug. 2, 2003 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a native of Choctaw County and a member of Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis King of Weir; a brother, Allie Gene King of Weir; two nieces, Peggy and Lisa; three great nieces, Lewanda, Cynthia and Katie; one great nephew, Drake, and one great-great-niece, Emily.

Rev. Dave Elliott and Rev. Jerry Lawson officiated.

Annie Mae Dees Lane

Mrs. Annie Mae Dees Lane, 74 of Edinburg, died July 31, 2003 at Rush Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of MSG John B. Lane Jr. and daughter of the late John Wesley Dees and Ruth Hooks Dees of Maplesville, Ala.
A memorial service was to have been held Wednesday (Aug. 6) at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Kosciusko with family and friends invited to join the family in the parish hall following the service for a time of fellowship.

She is survived by five of her six children. They are John B. Lane III of Houston, Texas, Judy L. Jones of Sevierville, Tenn., Barbara J. Rosener of St. Louis, Mo., Paul B. Lane of Edinburg and Gale L. Smith of Naples, Italy. Henry C. Lane died during infancy.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her brothers and sisters are: the late Mildred L. Lane, the late John W. Dees Jr., the late Genevieve D. Sutton, the late Ruth N. Quattrini, Mary L. Paige, M. Katherine Cogar, Jerry L. Dees, the late Fred A. Dees, Thomas W. Dees, R. Crawford Dees, the late Esther M. Dees, R. Faye Anderson, M. Joseph Dees, Mitchell P. Dees, and Deborah A. Lenoir, and the late Jeannie Dees.

Memorials may be made to the Covenant House of New Orleans or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Mary Alene McDaniel

Services for Mrs. Mary Alene McDaniel, 81, of Kosciusko were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel, a retired retail clerk, died Aug. 1, 2003 at Hospice in His Hands at Madden. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by a son, Ricky McDaniel and a daughter, Diane Quick, both of Kosciusko; a brother, Robert Jacobs of Ulylee, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Howard of Uylee, Fla., and Nettie Wathen of Dubque, Iowa; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Jerry Guess officiated.

She was the widow of Clyde McDaniel.

Pallbearers were Bobby McDaniel, Allen Justice, Hank Gallaspy, Sydney Bishop, Charlie Hudson Jr. and Dennis Baird.

Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Hudson Sr., Clarence Terry McCrory, Robert Deason and Willie McDaniel.

Sophia Juanita Ables Proctor

Services for Mrs. Sophia Juanita Ables Proctor, 75, of Kosciusko were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Carson Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Proctor died July 31, 2003 at the Carthage Health Care Center. She was the widow of John E. Proctor and they were married 51 years.

She leaves a daughter, Vickie Sullivan of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a son, Truman Ables of Carthage; two sisters, Bettie Kennedy of Rockdale, Texas, and Evelyn Stewart of Alvin, Texas; a brother, Joe Ables also of Alvin; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. Bobby Oakes officiated.

Pallbearers were Douglas Graham, Kelly Black, Chris Miller, Calvin Smith, Dennis Black and Richard Kennedy.

Memorials may be made to the Carthage Health Care Center.

Ruth Margaret Fincher Reid

Services for Mrs. Ruth Margaret Fincher Reid, 87, of Lexington were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Reid, a native of Holmes County, died July 30, 2003 at the University Hospital in Lexington. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lexington.

She is survived by a son, Stephen Mills Reid of Alado, Texas; a daughter, Mary Lynell "Tita' Ratcliff of Madison; a sister, Mary Frances Slaughter of Jackson; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Skipper Maxwell and Rev. David McIntosh officiated.

Pallbearers were Stephen M. Reid II, Steve Smiley Ratcliff III, Gregory Wayne Winford, Tyler Wayne Winford, Murray Byron Fincher and William Byron Fincher.

Members of the Lexington Rotary Club served as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Building Fund, 5301 Old Canton Road, Jackson, Miss. 39211 or First United Methodist Church, 108 Tchula Street, Lexington, Miss. 39095.

Maggie Anders Skinner

Services for Mrs. Maggie Anders Skinner, 79, of Ackerman were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Ackerman Baptist Church with burial in Enon Cemetery.
Mrs. Skinner, a native of Oktibbeha County, died Aug. 3, 2003 at her residence. She was owner-operator of Skinner's Shoe Store in Ackerman. She was a member of he Ackerman Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph Skinner of Ackerman and Dan Skinner of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Danelle Saxton of Starkville and Shelia Lance of Ackerman; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Fred Palmer Terry

Services for Fred Palmer Terry, 51, of Theriot, La., were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home Chapel in Theriot. Services were also held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Terry, a native of Laurel, died July 29, 2003. He was a welder in the oil field industry.

He is survived by his mother, Patsy Terry Cotton and her husband Jerrell; brothers, Bruce Terry and Raleigh Darcey, adopted brother, both of Houma, La.; a niece and two nephews, Brian and Andrae Terry and Chris.

He was preceded in death by his father, Palmer Morris Terry.

Rev. Albert Clark officiated.
