Wilma White Long
Graveside services for Mrs. Wilma Lucille White Long, 84, of Clarksdale, mother of Clyde R. Long of Kosciusko, were held Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at Longview Cemetery in Carroll County.
Mrs. Long died Nov. 17, 2003 at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
She is survived by two daughters, Nora Hodges of Cullman, Ala., Geraldine McClain of Breemen, Ga.; three sons, Clyde R. Long of Kosciusko, Richard Long and Joe Long, both of Clarksdale; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Rev. Gene McCraw officiated.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Humphries, Carl Ray Hodges, David Hodges, Curtis Long, Ricky Long, and Forest Long.

Jason Scott Lawrence
Services for Jason Scott Lawrence, 23, of Philadelphia were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Smallwood Pentecostal Church in the Four Corners Community.
Lawrence, a native of Attala County, died Nov. 21, 2003 at the Neshoba County Nursing Home. He was a member of Zama Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Henry C. Lawrence Jr. of Edinburg and Sara Lawrence of Kosciusko; two brothers, Richard Lawrence of Kosciusko and James Munn of Philadelphia; grandparents, Coyt and Dorcy Lawrence of Kosciusko, Katherine Deason of Edinburg.
Rev. Mike Sullivan and Rev. Jerome Fedrick officiated.
Burial was in the Zama-Kelly Cemetery with Culpepper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Lacey Sloss Martin
Mrs. Margaret Lacey Sloss Martin, 57, died Nov. 18, 2003 at Northlake Regional Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., after a brief illness.
Memorial services were held Nov. 21 at Levitt Funeral Home in Atlanta. Private graveside services were held Nov. 22 at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.
Mrs. Martin was born Dec. 21, 1945 in Kosciusko. She was the daughter of the late Edward Baxter Sloss and the late Frances Lacey Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Martin of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Richard LeCates; sisters, Sally Sloss Wasson and Ann Sloss Carter of Kosciusko; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby A. Stack
Services for Mrs. Ruby A. Stack, 90, of Lake were held Nov. 19 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial in Pine Ridge Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Stack was a native of Choctaw County where she lived until 1959 when she moved to Lake. She died Nov. 17, 2003 at Lackey Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stack in 1969 and by five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Harris of Lake, Alice Harmon of Pearl; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. Red Bowen and Rev. Ken McLemore officiated.
Pallbearers were Kevin Harris, Mike Harris, Shaun Harmon and Ladell Wicker.
James Truett Smith
Graveside services for James Truett Smith, 89, of Jackson were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brister Cemetery near Kosciusko.
Smith, a former business owner, died Nov. 20, 2003 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was a native of Attala County and had lived in Jackson since 1945. His early work was in heavy equipment construction and later he was self employed at Smith Appliance Service in service and sales.
Smith was recognized by Who's Who of Mississippi as a distinguished citizen in Mississippi. He was a Colonel on the staffs of Governors J.P. Coleman and Cliff Finch. He was a member of Colonial Hights Baptist Church and was a former member and deacon of Crestwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Madeira Fleming Smith of Jackson; three children, Hugh Truett Smith of Spanish Fort, Ala., Martha Hughes of Pensacola, Fla., and Lester Smith of Jackson; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church of Jackson.
Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Ridgeland was in charge of arrangements, and Culpepper Funeral Home of Kosciusko handled local arrangements.
Arthur (Bird) Turner
Services for Arthur (Bird) Turner, 64, were held Friday at 11 a.m. at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Turner, a truck driver, died Nov. 14, 2003 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Choctaw County and a member of Penderville Methodist Church at Weir.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda LeGail Turner of Detroit, Mich., and Barbara Ann Carter of French Camp; three sisters, Eddie Delores Hull of Kosciusko, Eula Cooper of St. Louis, Mo., and Ida Kennedy of Flint, Mich.; six brothers, Henry Turner, Horace Turner, Frank Turner, James Turner, Charles Turner and Henry Turner; three grandchildren.
Rev. Willie Young officiated.
Pallbearers were Ron Thornton, Frank Turner Jr., Roy M. Hicks, Charles Hull Jr., Milton Burt, Willie L. Campbell and Ted Cooper.
Mark Glen Veal
Services for Mark Glen Veal, 39, of Natchez were to be held Wednesday (Nov. 26) at 10 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel in Natchez with Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial and graveside services were to be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church cemetery near McCool.
Veal, a former resident of Atlanta, Ga., died Nov. 24, 2003 at his residence. He was the son of Doyle and Anniece Parkerson Veal. He was a member of Morgantown Baptist Church, an alumni of Mississippi College where he was a member of the Hall of Fame and as a senior received the Founder's Award.
He also earned his MBA and juris doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Veal; grandparents Ben Hill and Cynthia Frances Veal, Laura and Coleman Braswell.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Anniece and L.C. Smith of Natchez; a sister, Ellen Yeates of Ridgeland; step brothers, Charlie Smith of Natchez and David Smith of New Orleans; step sisters, Lynn Emfinger, Kay Cook, Lee Ann Smith all of Natchez.
Memorials may be made to Morgantown Baptist Church.
Ellen Leota Winstead
Services for Mrs. Ellen Leota Winstead, 86, of Lexington were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Tranquill Cemetery in Yazoo County.
Mrs. Winstead, a native of Leake County, died Nov. 21, 2003 at University Hospital of Holmes County. She was a member of Tchula Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Adene Brett, Sandra Carr of Goodman and Shirley Johnson of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Luther Lindsey officiated.
Pallbearers were Everett Kuykendall, Scott Carr, Danny Silvey, Wayne Brett, Paul Hager and Patrick Horne.
