Kenneth Donald Rolling

Services for Kenneth Donald Rolling, 60, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at White Plains M.B. Church at McCool with burial in the church cemetery.

Rolling, a truck driver, died July 25, 2004 in a motor vehicle accident at McCool. He was a native of Attala County and a member of White Plains M.B. Church.

He is survived by his mother Annie Lee Rolling; three daughters, Jennifer Royster and Priscilla Rolling, both of New York, Crystal Fontain of Georgia; a son, Dennis Sims of Chicago; seven sisters, Louthenia Nickerson, Josephine Rolling, Rosie Lee Moore, Glenda Ernul, Yolanda Austin, Darlene Rolling and Lori Winters; six brothers, Jay Winters, Norvelle Rolling, Andy Winters, Otha Rolling, Norris Rolling and Tony Prince Rolling; 16 grandchildren and host of other relatives.

Rev. Jessie Mallett officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Walter E. Sistrunk

Funeral services for Dr. Walter Everett Sistrunk, 84, of Starkville, father of Dr. David F. Sistrunk of Kosciusko, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Starkville.

Graveside services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Green Acres Cemetery in Vicksburg.

Dr. Sistrunk served as a professor of education at Mississippi State University from 1966 until his retirement in 1990. The Florida native served as a liaison pilot throughout World War II and served about 15 months in England.

He received a BAE degree with honors, and an M.Ed and Doctorate from the University of Florida. He was a member of Pi Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Pi, and Phi Delta Kappa honorary societies. He was past president of the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators and past chairman of the Southern Regional Council of Educational Administrators.

He served as host of the National Conference on Educational Administration in 1985. He was the author of numerous articles, research reports and books on education and genealogy. He was a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Family Research Association of Mississippi, the Augusta, Ga. Genealogical Society and other genealogical groups.

Dr. Sistrunk is listed in the "Who's Who in the South and Southwest", "Who's Who in Education", "Personalities of the South" and "The International Dictionary of Biography." He was a Mason and a member of the Starkville Rotary Club. He was currently serving on the School Board of the Okolona City School System.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Patricia Dornbusch Sistrunk; three sons, David F. Sistrunk of Kosciusko, Carlos L. Sistrunk of Starkville, Walter Eugene Sistrunk of Eupora; two daughters, Kathryn Rimer of Moss Point and Brenda Landry of Toronto, Canada; a stepson, O.E. Bradway III of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Patricia D. Bradway of Okolona and Susan C. Bradway of Silver City, N.M.; two sisters, Eugenia Rogers and Joanna Sistrunk, both of Jacksonville, Fla.,; one brother, Miner M. Sistrunk of Jacksonville; 16 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Shannon Sistrunk, David L. Sistrunk, Michael Sistrunk, Neill Sistrunk, Brady Sistrunk, Spencer Landry and John Bradway.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Gregory Ryne Talley

Gregory Ryne Talley, 17, of Tupelo died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident between Carthage and Philadelphia, along with his friends, driver Matthew Holdiness and passenger Casey Ellington of Kosciusko.

A native of Tupelo, he was about to begin his senior year at Tupelo High School. An active sportsman, he played for both the high school varsity football and baseball teams, and church basketball. He was a Christian and a member of The Orchard United Methodist Congregation of Tupelo, where he enjoyed fellowship and worship services. An avid Cubs baseball fan and car racing fan, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services were Friday at The Orchard United Methodist Congregation with Dr. Bryan Collier, Dr. Randy Von Kanel and Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park, with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Dana Dickerson, his father, Greg Talley, a sister, Payton Dickerson, and a brother, Hunter Talley, all of Tupelo; his grandparents, Bud and Dot Talley of Verona, and Bobby Gene Harrelson and Dot Harrelson of Tupelo and other extended family.

Pallbearers were Brandon Stacks, Jake Lee, Craig Langley, Luke Atkins, Matt Anderson, Chris Bennett, Drew Bennett and Seth Renick.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Tupelo High School football and baseball teams, and the Tupelo High School Class of 2005.

Frank E. Anderson

Frank E. Anderson, 71, of Kosciusko died Aug. 5, 2004 at the Attala County Nursing Center following an illness of several months.

He was a retired logger and was the son of the late Pearlean Summerall and Jesse Anderson.

He is survived by a son, Frank Anderson Jr.

Winters Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Effie Boyette Gregory Drummond

Graveside services for Mrs. Effie Marie Boyette Gregory Drummond, 88, of Durant were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mizpah Cemetery.

Mrs. Drummond, a native of Attala County, died Aug. 7, 2004 at her residence. She was a retired secretary with the U.S. Government. She was a Methodist.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth McAbee of Durant.

Rev. Billy Develin officiated with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Inell Davis McMillan

Services for Mrs. Inell Davis McMillan, 90, of Kosciusko were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. McMillan, retired cafeteria employee at Dublin High School in Coahoma County, died Aug. 6, 2004 at the Attala County Nursing Center. She was a member of McAdams Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Savannah Elizabeth Davis.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Jesse McMillan; daughters, Juanita Guntharp of Pontotoc, Janette Frazier of Kosciusko, Mildred Lester of Madison, Faye Tackett of Lyon and Vivian Ervin of Lynchburg, Tenn.; sons, Ed McMillan of Lambert, Roy McMillan of Nordheim, Texas; sisters, Frances Munn Blanton of Kosciusko and Vivian Branch of Bossier City, La.; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob McMillan, a son, Bobby Wayne McMillan and brothers Leonard Davis and Grover Davis.

Rev. James Burrell, Rev. Dan West and Rev. Jerry Meggs officiated.

Pallbearers were Ed McMillan Jr., Bobby Howell, Richard Frazier, Randy Guntharp, Rickey Guntharp, Dean Lester, Jeremy Edwards and Greg Tackett.

Morris Hilton Patterson

Services for Morris Hilton Patterson, 63, of Ackerman were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Patterson, a security guard and kiln tender, died Aug. 4, 2004 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Chester Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Patterson of Ackerman; two sons, Mike Patterson of Jackson and Johnny Patterson of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Gregory Ramage

Services for Gregory Ramage, 37, of Kosciusko were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in North Union Cemetery.

Ramage, a roofer, died Aug. 5, 2004 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Moudy Ramage; a daughter, Tiffany Ramage and a son, Marcus Ramage, both of Kosciusko; two brothers, Dean Ramage of Brandon and Kevin Ramage of Kosciusko.

Rev. Jason Moore officiated.

Pallbearers were David Williams, James Edwards, Justice Gibson, Wayne Wilkerson, Matt Tucker and Corvan Greer.

Dorothy Terry Smith

Services for Mrs. Dorothy Terry Smith of Kosciusko were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, retired machine operator at Garan Inc., died Aug. 8, 2004 at her residence. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Compton of Kosciusko; a son, Johnny Terry of Kosciusko; two stepdaughters, Jodi Boykin of Florence, and Rhonda McCrory of Kosciusko; a stepson, Tony Smith of Kosciusko; five sisters, Jean Baecher of Vardaman, Beatrice Caldwell, Francis Hobbs, both of Hernando, Corene Moreland of Calhoun City, Emmalane Pounds of Derma; a brother, Dale Bailey of Derma; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Frank Terry and David Leonard Smith; sisters, Audie Mosley and Lucille Burgess; mother, Florence Vanlandingham and father, Monroe Bailey.

Serving as pallbearers were Matt Compton, Jason Compton, Ronald Caldwell, Larry Nowell, Bernard Rachel and David Mosley.

Rev. Johnny Parks officiated.

Peggy Ann Spencer

A memorial service for Kosciusko native Mrs. Peggy Ann Spencer, 56, of Citra, Fla., were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at orange Lake Baptist Church.

Mrs. Spencer died July 28, 2004. She was owner/operator of Peggy's Beauty Shop in Ft. Pierce, Fla. She was a member of Orange Lake Baptist Church where she was song leader for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Verdalen Spencer of Citra; two sons, Carl Spencer and Ray Spencer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three daughters, Velma Spencer, Renne Hamblin of Vero Beach, Fla., Linda Garceau of Sebastian, Fla.; a brother, Tobie Grice of Pearl; a sister, Linda Joyce Holley of Kosciusko; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Orange Lake Baptist Church or Hospice of Marion County.

Lue Bates Wilson

Services for Mrs. Lue Bates Wilson, 89, of Nashville, Tenn., were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Holiness Church of Christ Deliverance.

Burial was in New Banyon Cemetery at Goodman directed by Winters Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilson died Aug. 3, 2004 at the Baptist Medical Center in Nashville. She was a memer of the Holiness Church of Christ Deliverance in Durant.

She is survived by three daughters, Meela Kyles, Lucille wise and Sadie McCarty; two sons, Eddie Wilson and Luther D. Wilson.

Rev. Charles Tyes officiated.
