Brown Palmertree

Services for Brown Palmertree, 90, of Vaiden were held Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Palmertree, a native of Montgomery County, died Nov. 1, 2004 at the Vaiden Community Center. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Herb Palmertree of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Sybil Ellis of West; one grandchild, Tyler Palmertree.

Rev. Phillip Palmertree officiated.

Pallbearers were Tyler Palmertree, Tommy Ellis, Stanley Ellis, James Mayfield, Rick Williams and Hiram Palmertree.

Maggie Tolleson

Services for Mrs. Maggie Tolleson, 85, of Carthage were held Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Rocky Point Baptist Church in Leake County with burial in the Rocky Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Tolleson died Nov. 1, 2004 at the Attala County Nursing Center.

She is survived by a son, Edwin Tolleson of Frisco, Texas; two sisters, Billie Jean Burkes of Carthage and Mary McKnight of Memphis; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rev. Marshall Lum officiated with Jordan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Rocky Point Cemetery Fund.

Pearl Henderson Dean

Services for Mrs. Pearl Henderson Dean, 97, of Kosciusko were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Brooks-Dean Cemetery.

Mrs. Dean, a member of Williamsville Baptist Church, died Nov. 2, 2004 at Forrest Hill Nursing Center in Jackson.

She is survived by two sisters, Arlene Boozer of Carthage and Gladys Coleman of Yazoo City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fenwich Dean.

Memorials may be made to Magnolia Speech School or Williamsville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Lavelle Duncan

Services for Mrs. Lillian Lavelle Duncan, 91, of Kosciusko were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Duncan died Dec. 4, 2004 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Snyder Homemakers Club, RSVP Volunteer, an avid quilter and gardener.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary McCool of Kosciusko, Sarah Newsom of Ocean Springs and Cheryl Grubbs of Brandon; three sons, Wayne Duncan of Florence, Edward Duncan and Dennis Duncan of Kosciusko; a sister, Robbie Fivehouse of Denver, Col.; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Duncan; sons, Frank Duncan, Lamar Duncan and Robert Duncan, and a daughter, Bobbye Brentz.

Rev. Johnny Watkins and Rev. Hendrix Brentz officiated.

Pallbearers were Carlton Miller, Jason Newsom, Bill Duncan, Gerald Miller, Fred Miller and James Hall.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Methodist Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 13827, Jackson, MS 39236 or the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, 16 Northtown Dr., Jackson, MS 39211.

Avae Nell Tyler Nations

Services for Mrs. Avae Nell Tyler Nations, 75, of Forest were held Sunday at Forest Baptist Church with graveside services at 4 p.m. at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.

Mrs. Nations, a native of Attala County, died Dec. 2, 2004 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was a member of Forest Baptist Church, Forest Garden Club and La Petite Club. She spent most of her life in Gulfport where she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gulfport Garden Club, Woman's Club of Gulfport and active in the Little Theater.

She was a former Girl Scout leader and PTA president and City Council president.

She is survived by her husband, James Cecil Nations of Forest; a daughter, Diane Cecile Nations Smith of Forest; three grandsons; her mother, Mrs. L.L. (Nina) Tyler of Kosciusko.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Luther Tyler in 1978 and granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Smith in 1988.

Pallbearers were Ennis Ray Price, Jerry Lane Price, Marty Price, Bobby Payne, Wayne Miller, Don Goss and Earl Price Jr.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest handled arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39056; French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS, 39745 or the Building Fund of Forest Baptist Church, 439 E. First Street, Forest, MS 39074.

Odessa Carter

Services for Mrs. Odessa Carter, 81, of French Camp were held Nov. 27 at Shady Grove M.B. Church in French Camp. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Carter died Nov. 22, 2004 at her residence.

Clara Cooksey Andrews

Services for Mrs. Clara Cooksey Andrews, 83, of Kosciusko were held Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rural Hill Cemetery in Winston County.

Mrs. Andrews, a native of Winston County, died Jan. 25, 2005 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Rural Hill Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Andrews of Kosciusko; four sons, Frank Cooksey, Johnny Cooksey, both of Brandon, Robert Cooksey of Kosciusko, and Marvin Cooksey of Bay St. Louis; a daughter, Mary Miller-McNutt of White House, Tenn.; two brothers, Billy Miller of Ackerman and Don Miller of Flora; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rev. Shannon Pennington officiated.

Pallbearers were Buster Hunt, Harold Armstrong, William Josey, Jamie Black, Logan Cumming, Gfrain Becerra, Ricky Richardson and Jimmy Norwood.

Memorials may be made to Rural Hill Methodist Church.

Maggie Flint Butler

Services for Mrs. Maggie Flint Butler, 75, of Brundidge, Ala., were held Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at Stonewall Chapel near Ethel with burial in the family cemetery in Stonewall Cemetery.

Mrs. Butler died Jan. 25, 2005 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles P. Butler Jr. and children, Paul Butler, Mark Butler and Patricie B. Craig; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers and sisters, W.C. Flint Jr., Bryan Flint, Matt Flint, Marie Barrett, Dorothy Murphy, and Flora Breazeale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Flint Sr. of Ethel and a brother, Sherrell Flint.

Pallbearers were Rod Murphy, Justin Loftin, Kent Breazeale, Leo Hughes, Kim Jurgens and Matthew Jurgens.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Barrett, John Curry, Bill Flint, Mike Breazeale, Keith Breazeale, David Flint, Bryan Flint Jr., Barry Loftin, Jimmy Roby, Bill Myers, Ramon Jackson, William Roby and Billy Powell.

Arvis Blaine

Graveside services for Arvis Blaine, 68, of West were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at New Salem Cemetery.

Blaine, a retired billet maker, died Jan. 31, 2005 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Howard Blaine; two daughters, Amy Sanders of Ridgeland and Stella Woods of Grants Lick, Ky.; three sons, Sam Blaine, Jesse Blaine of Kosciusko and Anthony Blaine of Newport, Ky.; three brothers, Jimmy Blaine, John Blaine of Crittenden, Ky. and Pete Blaine of West; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Bernice Woods; a son, Anthony Vernon Blaine; and a brother, Hubert Blaine.

Rev. Mark Mayo officiated with Jordan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tommy Leonard, Vinie Sanders, Lee Howard Jr., Sam Blaine Sr., Donald Self, Jeffery Mayo.

Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Steen, Percy Greenlee and Ray Morgan.

Jo Ann Maxwell Brett

Services for Mrs. Jo Ann Maxwell Brett, 67, of Kosciusko were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. A committal service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at New Zion Cemetery near Monticello in Lawrence County.

Mrs. Brett died Jan. 30, 2005 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Williamsville Independent Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Ramage of Kosciusko; a step daughter, Brenda Haines of Tyler, Texas; two sons, Robert Lambert of Monticello, Bill Lambert of LaVergne, Tenn.; a step son, Charles Brett of Tupelo; a sister, Peggy Sue Palmertree of Poplar Creek; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of John H. Brett.

Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Jason Moore officiated.
