Carolyn Sue Evans

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Evans, 60, of French Camp will be held Friday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona.

Ministers Dan Beardain and Nathan Wright will officiate.

Mrs. Evans died of breast cancer at her residence near French Camp on Feb. 3, 2008.

She was born in French Camp to the late Marvin Emery Jenkins and Jessie Lois Jefcoat Jenkins.

She was an employee of Ivey’s Mechanical in Kosciusko and a member of Huntsville Church of Christ near French Camp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, June Wills; brother, Jim Jenkins; son-in-law, Mike Bright.

Survivors include her two daughters, Rene Blake of Austin, Texas, and Beth Bright of Ackerman; two grandchildren, Rob and Ryan Blake of Austin, Texas; two brothers, William Jenkins and wife Christine of Nesbit, and James Jenkins and wife Margaret of Collinsville; a special friend, Jack Sykes of Duck Hill.

Pallbearers are Paul D. Hopkins, Oakley Tharp, Marvis Braswell, Randy Wills, Paul Black, and Glen Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are William Jenkins, James Jenkins, Bert Wills, and Clyde Jenkins.

Visitation is Feb. 7, 5-8 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.

Myrtle Autry Self

Myrtle Autry Self, 89, of West died Feb. 19, 2008 at the Holmes County Hospital in Lexington.

Visitation will be Feb. 21 5-8 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Durant and 12:30-1 p.m. Friday at the West Baptist Church.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at West Baptist Church with burial in West City Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 1, 1919 in Holmes County, daughter of Clarence Stephen Autry and Sallye Gelston.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John M. Self.

She is survived by sons, Douglas Self (Donna) of Durant, Wayne Self (Sandra) of North Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Marjorie Angulo of Ridgeland; eight grandchildren, Doug Self Jr. of Atlanta, David Self (Dee) of Madison, Chris Self (Ann) of Gluckstadt, Scott Self (Deana) of Dyersburg, Tenn., Todd Self (Darla) of Benton, Ark., Hope Angulo of Jackson, Faith Smith (Jesse) of Georgetown, Texas, Kristian Angulo (Kelly) of Brandon; 11 great-grandchildren, John, Coleman, Jake, Walton, Elizabeth, Will, Grant, Chloe, Madeline, Carter, and Cade; two sisters, Ann Browning of Jackson and Bobbie Byrd of Bartlett, Tenn.; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the West Baptist Church where her special ministry was sending cards to the sick, the shut-ins and the bereaved.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Rev. James Burrell, Rev. Jerry Tate and Rev. Ed McDaniel will officiate.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Downer, the staff of Lexington Manor and Holmes County Hospital for their care, concern, and support provided our Mother and family.

Stanley Blair Mistilis
Lisa Michelle Lord Mistilis

Stanley Blair Mistilis, 45, and Lisa Michelle Lord Mistilis, 46, of Decatur, Ala., died Feb. 17, 2008 in a traffic accident near Van Buren, Ark.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until service time.

The Mistilises were devoted Christians and members of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Decatur.

Born in Oxford, Stanley is survived by his moher, Lewese Ahrens and her husband Jon of Mt. Ida, Ark.; his father, Steve Mistilis and his wife Katherine of Memphis; a brother, Steven Mistilis, of Horn Lake, his fiance Karen and her son Taylor of Horn Lake; a sister, Lisa Mistilis Brooks and a nephew, Jonathan Daniel Brooks, both of Mobile, Ala.
Born in Memphis, Lisa is survived by her parents, Verna and Don Lord of Olive Branch; two sisters, Donna Lord of Olive Branch and Diane Samuelsen of Westfield, Mass., and nephews Aubrey and Kirk of Westfield, Mass., and a niece Sonia Ericson and her husband Miles of Granville, Mass., an aunt, Lovie Gray of Olive Branch; an uncle, Frank Lord of Raymond.

Memorials may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God or to the charity of the donors choice.

Velma (Tiny) Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Velma (Tiny) Brown, 75, of Kosciusko will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Christian Liberty M.B. Church with burial in the Kosciusko City Cemetery.

She died Jan. 13, 2008 in Choctaw County.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Paul E. White Jr.

Funeral services for Paul E. White Jr., 52, of Kosciusko will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

White, a poultry consultant/PAACO Certified Animal Auditor with Techno-Catch, died Feb. 25, 2008 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of the Huntington Street Church of Christ.

He attended Auburn University majoring in exercise physiology and received a B.S. Agri-Business degree from Arkansas Tech.

He was a graduate of Russellville High School in Russellville, Ark. where he was a member of the Russellville High School Hall of Fame.

He was also named to the Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Cochran White; sons, Paul White III, Joe White, Jake White, Matt Murff (son in life though not by birth); daughter, Ally White; sisters, Lucy White, Sue Arnet, Debi Barnes; brother, Phil White; step mother, Shirley White.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul White Sr. and Mary D. White.

Minister Les Ferguson will officiate.

Pallbearers are Ben White, Phil White, Ottie Talkington, Steve Handley, Jimmy Cochran, Coleman Sanders, Matt Murff and Hollis Cheek.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Hattie Mae Riley Winters

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Mae Riley Winters, 88, of Kosciusko will be held March 1 at 11 a.m. at Christian Liberty M.B. Church with burial in the Kosciusko Cemetery.

Mrs. Winters, a retired teacher, died Feb. 25, 2008.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Christopher T. Lewis

Funeral services for Christopher T. Lewis, 34, of Memphis will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Lewis, a factory worker, died Feb. 23, 2008 in Memphis.

Margaret Sue Carroll Ray

Services for Mrs. Margaret Carroll Ray, 90, of Horn Lake will be held Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Durant with burial in Mizpah Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray died March 19, 2007 at Land Mark of DeSoto.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Verna Wade Cook

Mrs. Verna Wade Cook, 96, of Williamsville, a retired nurse, died March 24, 2007 at the Attala County Nursing Center in Kosciusko.

Visitation is Monday, March 26, 6-7 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was born Feb. 12, 1911 in McCool.

She was a nurse at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church.

Her hobbies included sewing, especially quilting, and flower gardening.

She also loved and cared for her many pets.

She is survived by a son, Boyd Wade Cook (Joyce) of Olatha, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arthur M. "Jo" Cook of Kosciusko; grandchildren, Leondra Cook Burson (Chris) of Midlothian, Texas, Wade Nichols Cook (Tracey) of Olathe, Kan., Joyce Cook Olsen (Jeff) of Olathe, Kan., Arthur Leon Cook (Jennie) of Koscisuko and Michael Olyn Cook of Greenwood; six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Leon Cook, an infant daughter, brother, Boyd Wade, and her son, Arthur M. Cook.

Rev. Jim Garner will officiate.

Memorials may be sent to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, Miss. 39999-745.

Terry Glenn Otts

Services for Terry Glenn Otts, 34, of Kosciusko will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Ethel.

Otts, a barge engineer with Rowen Inc., died March 24, 2007 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Otts of Kosciusko; a son, Tristen Otts of Carthage; a brother, Kelly Otts of Lawrenceville, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Kelly Otts Sr.

Rev. Walter Hines and Rev. Johnny Parks will officiate.

James Allen Horton

James Allen Horton, 56, of Jackson, a sales associate with Lyle Machinery in Richland, died March 26, 2007 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is Wednesday, March 28, 4-6 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Horton was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Colucci.

Survivors are his son, Andy Horton and his wife, Lori Hughes Horton of Clinton; mother, Camille Horton Colucci of Greenville; brother, Eddie Horton and his wife, Suzanne of Greenville; nieces, Heather Horton and Leigh Horton of Greenville.

Pallbearers are Chris Allen, Corey Bonds, Justin Clay, Todd Alford, Warner Rice, Bo Bilbo, Doyle Warrington and Britt Layman.

William R. Jones Jr.

William R. Jones Jr., retired Sears executive, age 77, died March 27, 2007 at 7:50 p.m. in Jackson. Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko is handling arrangements.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. A memorial service will follow at Fondren Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

Harry Tramine Anderson

Services for Harry Tramine Anderson, 22, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Durant Baptist M.B. Church with burial in Damascus Cemetery.

Anderson, a student, died April 27, 2008, at the University Hospital in Lexington following an automobile accident.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles E. Jones

Funeral services for Charles E. (Charlie Brown) Jones, 73, of Kosciusko will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Kosciusko City Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Jones, a native of Leake County, died April 28, 2008 at his residence.

He was a retired supervisor for Burke Shade Inc.

He was a member of Shiloh Methodist Protestant Church.

He is survived by a special niece, Brenda Zamudio and her children Brittney and Catherine of Kosciusko; an aunt, Katherine Odom; brothers-in-law Henry Shapen and Jerry Dunaway; brothers, David Jones and wife Kathy of Baton Rouge, La., John Jones and wife Sally, William Jones and wife Beth of Zachary, La., Mickey Jones and wife Darlene of Baker, La.; sisters, Lela Hamilton and Pete of Magnolia, Faye Lizann and Larry of Gulfporrt, Wanda Martin and Danny of Slidel, La., Angie Newman and Marcus of Texas.

Ministers John Ballard and Jim Garner will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ester Verenia Jones, and sisters, Beth Ruth Jones, Joann Shapen and Dot Dunaway.

Joe E. Marshall Sr.

Funeral services for Joe E. Marshall Sr., 82, of French Camp will be held Saturday at Bethsaida Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Marshall, a retired Trailways Bus operator, died April 30, 2008.

Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Joe E. Marshall Sr.

Funeral services for Joe E. Marshall Sr., 82, of French Camp will be held Saturday at Bethsaida Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Marshall, a retired Trailways Bus operator, died April 30, 2008.
