Zelma Inez O'Briant
Funeral services for Mrs. Zelma Inez O’Briant, 85, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. O’Briant died April 30, 2008 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a Jehovah Witness.
She is survived by her sons, Freddie O’Briant and Larry O’Briant and his wife Debbie all of Ethel; daughters, Peggy Horne and her husband, Van of Kosciusko, Patsy O’Briant of Ethel, and Beverly Newlin and her husband Tommy of Weir; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred O’Briant; parents, Patrick Henry and Mary Jane O’Neal; sister, Velma Armstrong; brothers, Pete, Wayne and Bob O’Neal.
Myres Lucas
Funeral services for Myres Lucas, 65, of Jeanette, Ark., will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Jeanette City Cemetery.
Lucas, a disabled truck driver, died May 1, 2008 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Solomon C. Wallace
Services for Solomon C. Wallace, 60, of Milwaukee, Wis., will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Center Church of God with burial in Patterson Cemetery.
Wallace died April 30, 2008 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Peggy P. Lepard
Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy P. Lepard, 50, of Ethel will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Lepard died May 4, 2008 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served as secretary and pianist.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Lepard; son, Jonathan Lepard; daughters, Karen Barrett and her husband, Steve, and Michelle Dees, and her husband, Chris, all of Ethel; grandchildren, Hannah Claire Barrett, Brandon Barrett and Bradley Barrett; father, J.D. Phillips of Kosciusko; Larry Phillips; sisters, Shirley Allen and Nan Daniels, all of Kosciusko.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research.
Joe Willie Rockett
Funeral services for Joe Willie Rockett, 96, will be held Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. at Durant M.B. Church with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.
Rockett, a retired farmer, died May 1, 2008 at the Attala Nursing Center.

Wesley Gene "Wes" Rasberry
Wesley Gene “Wes” Rasberry, 56, of Kosciusko died quietly at home home May 4, 2008 following a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, 5-8 p.m.
Rasberry, born Sept. 7, 1951 in Durant, was a sergeant in the Air Force. He was a contractor for 30 years before becoming a regional leader and finanacial consultant with Primerica Financial Services until his health prevented him for working.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca; five sons, Wesley Alexander Rasberry and wife, Kasey of Boise, Idaho, Christopher Allen Rasberry, Justin Wayne Rasberry and wife, Alice, Steven Garrett Walden, all of Orlando, Fla., Jonathan Lee Walden and wife, Jessica of Alaska; his mother, Dorothy Jean Williamson; brother, James S. Rasberry and wife Cindy; sisters, Linda Rasberry Kerben and husband, Kenny all of Kosciusko, and Jennifer Rasberry Dykman and husband Stan of Brandon; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, Tiffani and Christina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Mark Parnell will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Alice Mae Hood
Services for Mrs. Alice Mae Hood, 82, of Carthage will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in North Union Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 5-8 p.m.
Mrs. Hood, a native of Alabama, died May 6, 2008 at her residence. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
She is survived by sons, Henry E. Hood of Kilmichael, Marshall Hood of Morris, Ala., Joe Hood of Carmack, Eli Hood of Slidell, La.; daughters, Sharon Vowell of Carthage, Bessie Hughes, Virginia Odom of Kosciusko, Glenda Brunt of McCool, Rixie Cook of Carmack; brothers, Eddie Jackson of McCool, Lewis Partin of Arizona, David Jackson of Carmack; a sister, Dorothy Hughes of McCool; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hood; a son, Joseph O. Hood; daughter, Anna P. Hood; two grandsons, Lewis Cook and David Moore, three sisters and one brother.
Rev. Bobby Oakes will officiate.
Pallbearers are Chris Hood, Christopher Hood, Henry Hood, Joseph Hood, Tony Hood and Robert Hughes.

Funeral services for Jessie Malett, 84, of Kosciusko, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Galilee M.B. Church with burial in Steven Cemetery.
Winters, a retired hospital orderly, died May 12, 2007.

Willie Wingard
Services for Willie Wingard, 96, of Kosciusko will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove M.B. Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Wingard, a retired farmer, died June 5, 2007 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

Nancy Black McQuirter
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Black McQuirter, 74, of Kosciusko will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Coleman Cemetery at McAdams.
Mrs. McQuirter, a retired assistant teacher in the Kosciusko schools, died June 14, 2007 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Walter V. Davis Sunday School Class and the Nomads. She was a master gardener.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry McQuirter of Kosciusko; two sons, Jerry Lee McQuirter of Sallis and Dan McQuirter of Madison; two daughters, Christy McKinnon and Melissa Kahl, both of Kosciusko; a sister, Janie Harvey of Ackerman; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Rev. James Salter will officiate.
Visitation is Friday, 6-8 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Sudie Pearl Richardson
Services for Mrs. Sudie Pearl Richardson, 91, of Kosciusko were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with burial in Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko.
Mrs. Richardson, a retired dietitian, died June 16, 2006 at the Attala County Nursing Center. She was a native of Leake County and a member of Williamsville Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sudie Clydine Pickle of Kosciusko; brothers, Grady Plunkett and Marvin Plunkett, both of Kosciusko; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rev. Jack Manor, Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Garland McKee officiated.
Pallbearers were Brian Carr, Phillip Pickle, Hogan Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, William Sandridge and Stephen Sandridge.
Lurlene Shearer
Mrs. Lurlene Lowe Stallings DuBard Shearer, 88, died June 26, 2007 at River Region Hospital in Vicksburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Shearer, a former resident of Kosciusko, was an avid writer who wrote and published her own two-volume family history book as well as being published in several state, regional and national magazines. Her greatest achievement was to realize her dream of publishing her first novel, "A Virgin Grows Up," last year at the age of 87.
She was a member of Bowman Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Prough of Jackson, Tenn., Joy Lott of Portland, Ore., and Beverly White of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchioldren; three step sons, Don Shearer of Santee, Calif., Kenneth Shearer of Jackson, and Robert Shearer of Purvis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bowmar Baptist Church in Vicksburg or the First Baptist Church, 210 N. Huntington St., Kosciusko.
Robert James Greer
Services for Robert James Greer, 55, of Kosciusko will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Center Ridge M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Greer, a construction worker, died June 17, 2007 at the Central Mississippi Medical Center.

Eva Dorris Ray
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Dorris "Dot" Ray, 81, of Zama, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray, a retired secretary for the Social Security Administration, died June 27, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Oxford. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynda Taylor and her husband Ronnie of Leland, and Kay Hightower and her husband Roy of Oxford; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sammy Ray, and a daughter, Dianne Ray.
Rev. Larry Harvey and Rev. Bobby Waggoner will officiate.
