Ottie Sue Griffin

Ottie Sue Griffin, 91, of Kosciusko died Dec. 15, 2007 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Jerusalem Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Parks officiated.

Mrs, Griffin was a dedicated school teacher for more than 30 years. She retired in 1978. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church for 54 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Griffin Sr.

Survivors include son, Donald Griffin Jr. and his wife, Evelyn of Kosciusko; daughter, Alice Griffin Regan of Pearl River, La.; brother, Herbert Adams of Pascagoula; sister, Grace Boler of Philadelphia; grandsons, Timothy B. Regan and his wife Jennifer of Metairie, La., and Donald Glenn Griffin and his wife, Kim of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Luke Regan and Dani Griffin.

Pallbearers were Donald Glenn Griffin, Timothy B. Regan, Terry Pettit, Terry Beckham,, Harry Beckham, and Lamar Townsend.

Edward "Ed" Alderman

Graveside services for Edward "Ed" Alderman, 76, of Carthage will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Attala Memory Gardens with Culpepper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Wednesday, 5-8 p.m.

Alderman, retired from the sawmill business, died Dec. 12, 2006 at Hospice in His Hands in Madden. He was a native of Attala County and a Baptist.

He is survived by a son, Paul Alderman of Kosciusko; a brother, Everett "Mutt" Alderman of Carthage; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Rev. Johnny Parks will officiate.

Evelyn D. Miller

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn D. Miller, 62, will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Abraham Baptist Church, McCool with burial in the Abraham Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died Dec. 8, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Otto Mangrum

Charles Otto Mangrum, 78, of Kosciusko died Dec. 6, 2007 at his home. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Jordan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Mark Parnell will officiate.

Mangrum, a machinist, was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Mangrum; daughters, Debbie Veazey, Becky Culpepper and Angie Mangrum, all of Kosciusko; brothers, Ellis Mangrum of Livonia, Mich., Jim Mangrum of Mobile, J.D. Mangrum of Kosciusko; sisters, Martha Irving of Mobile, Mary Baker of Detroit; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alice W. Fondren

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice W. Fondren, 88, will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at Plantation M.B. Church with burial in the Plantation Cemetery at Ethel.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 4, 1-5 p.m. at Dotson Funeral Home in Kosciusko.

Mrs. Fondren died Nov. 26, 2009.

Beth Hines Cade

Beth Hines Cade, beautiful mother and wonderful friend, went to spend eternity with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, after a brief illness.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 17, 5-8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kosciusko.

Beth was born on June 16, 1951 in Kosciusko and was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Hines Jr. and Marjorie Neely Hines. A lifelong resident of Kosciusko, she was a graduate of Kosciusko High School and Mississippi State University.

For several years, Beth was a part of the Merchants & Farmers Bank family specializing in IRA. Beth’s faith was strong and she worshipped at both the First Baptist Church of Kosciusko and First Presbyterian Church of Kosciusko. Beth enjoyed her cats, her friends, and gave her all to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Cade; daughters, Emily Cade and Marjorie Cade of Atlanta; son, Shaun Cade of Hattiesburg; sister, Holly Hines Dukes, nieces Kelly Dukes and Anna Dukes of Madison; brother-in-law, Terry Cade; sister-in-law, Jonann Alston Cade; nephew, Ryan Cade of Olive Branch; father-in-law, E.L. “Sonny” Cade of Possumneck, and various family and friends.

Awaiting her arrival were her parents, Harry and Marjorie Hines; her mother-in-law, Dora “Puzz” Cade, and brother-in-law, Jeff Dukes.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or French Camp Academy.

Spring Taylor Sims

Spring Taylor Sims, 40, of Kosciusko died Aug. 12, 2008 at her residence. Visitation is Friday, Aug. 15, 6-9 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamsville Baptist Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Junior Davis will officiate.

Mrs. Sims was born in Greer, S.C. She was a member of Williamsville Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Sims; sons, Taylor Sims and Jacob Sims all of Kosciusko; parents, James H. and Nancy Strong Taylor, and brother, James H. Taylor III all of Welford, S.C.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Johnny Saxon and Frances Smyer Strong and paternal grandparents, James H. and Elizabeth Taylor Sr.

Emma K. Winters

Services for Ms. Emma K. Winters, 60, of Kosciusko will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Church with burial in the church cemetery.

She died Aug. 6, 2008 at Hospice in His Hands in Madden.

Douglas W. Dendy

Graveside services for Douglas W. Dendy, 64, of Kosciusko will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Dendy died July 23, 2008 at the Attala County Nursing Center. He was a retired machine operator for Dendy Lumber Company and also worked for Dendy Sawmill. He was a member of the Kosciusko Church of Christ. Les Ferguson will officiate.

He is survived by his sister, Audrey Watts and husband, Raymond of Florence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Dendy; parents, Clayton V. and Willie Mae Thrailkill Dendy.

Earnest Patterson

Services for Earnest Patterson, 51, of Chicago, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Patterson, an automobile worker, died July 18, 2008 at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Chicago.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Robert Cain

John Robert Cain, 75, died September 17, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be Saturday, September 19, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Kosciusko with burial following at Parkway Cemetery. Bro. Barry Corbett will officiate the services.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Culpepper Funeral Home.

Culpepper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cain was born September 22, 1933, to Paul Carnes Cain and Rosie Lee Ellington in Vivian, La. He was a retired manager for Building Material Supply and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Kosciusko High School and a 1954 graduate of Holmes Community College. He was a Deacon of FBC since 1975, Sunday School Teacher, Church Training Leader, Choir member, and Brotherhood member.

Awaiting him in heaven is his great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Claire Edwards.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Beth Bruner Cain; sons, John Robert Cain Jr. of Winona, Mark Steven Cain of Kosciusko and Ronald Jeffrey Cain of Hattiesburg; daughter, Melanie Beth Cain Edwards of Kosciusko; sister, Katherine Marie Gould of Fannin; brothers, Jimmie Dan Cain of Starkville, Paul Gene Cain of Kosciusko and David Carnes Cain of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Rob Cain, Joey Cain, Richard Cain, Kyle Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Lauren Edwards, Kelley Cain, Emmalee Cain, and Caitlin Cain; great-granddaughter, Cassidy Beth Edwards.

Pallbearers will be Robert Alexander, Paul Powers, Berlie Tindoll, Jack Holmes, Bill Walker and Ray Rutledge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Abb Henry, George Dorrill, John Shaw, George Stewart, Mike Duran and Barry Meek.

Earnest R. Dees

Earnest Ray Dees, 73, of Kosciusko, a rig manager with Rowan Companies, Inc. for 34 years, died May 27, 2008 at his residence.

Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 6-8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 31, at 1 p.m. in the Attala Memory Gardens.

He was a lifelong resident of Attala County. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-1956.

He is survived by two sons, Ray Dees of Oxford, and Marcus Dees of Vicksburg; two sisters, Joyce Leone and her husband Frank of Kosciusko, Floyce Brock and her husband Clinton of Carthage; three brothers, Jim Dees and his wife Betty of Hesterville, Dave J. Dees Jr. of Kosciusko, and Marion Dees Sr. of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Abbie Larin Dees, Camryn Bailie Dees, and Nathaniel Ray Dees; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marce Dees, and his father and mother, David and Robbie Otto Self Dees.

Thelma Bunch Burden

Services for Mrs. Thelma Louise Bunch Burden, 91, of Goodman were held May 29 at 11 a.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with burial in Seneasha Cemetery.

Mrs. Burden died May 27, 2008 at Holmes County Long Term Care.

Connie Richardson

Funeral services for Mrs. Connie Richardson, 93, of Kosciusko will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Richardson died May 28, 2008 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Williamsville Baptist Church and attended Jerusalem Baptist Church in recent years.

Rev. Johnny Parks and Elder J.T. Shields will officiate.

She is survived by her sons, Billy E. Richardson of St. Augustine, Fla., and Charles E. Richardson of Kosciusko; sister, Nell Evans of Kosciusko; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Richardson, and her parents, Eugene and Pearl Heffner Blocker.

Mary Sue Green

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Green, 64, of Kosciusko were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry East officiating.

Ms. Green died May 24, 2008 at her residence. She was a retired registered nurse with Sta-Home Hospice. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Green; two sons, John Reynolds and Dustin Burns all of Kosciusko; six daughters, Ann Manning of Kosciusko, Dana Everett of Pensacola, Fla., Glenda Dickerson of Kosciusko, Billie Sue Bright of Winona, Linda Kay Cummins, Ann Massey, both of French Camp; three sisters, Barbara Williamson , Sandra Lett of Columbus, Jeannie Blassingame of Alabama; 14 grandchildren.
