She was a homemaker and a member of Greensboro C. M. E. Church.
Survivors include son, Manuel B. Cooper of Jackson; sisters, Glendia Cooper of Jacksonville, FL, Bettye Cooper, Sandra Miller and Dorothy Cistrunk of Louisville; brother, Howard Cooper of Vicksburg and a special friend, Booker T. Washington of Jackson, MS.
Rev. Eddie B. Robinson officiated at the service with burial in Union Chapel Church.

Houston L. Oswalt
Funeral services for Houston L. Oswalt, 89, of Weir, were held on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Mr. Oswalt died on May 4, 2000 at Kilmichael Hospital of heart failure.
He was a retired farmer, a lifelong resident of Weir and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, H. L. Oswalt of Jena, LA and Billy Joe Oswalt of Weir; daughters, Rose hunt of Ackerman, Barbra Nicewonger of Weir and Sandra Bates of Weir; brothers, Grover Oswalt of Ackerman, Larkin Oswalt of Weir and Paul Oswalt of Weir; sisters, Bonnie Sue Sledge of Weir , Ella Ruth Gazaway of Bradley, Mary Higgins of Weir and Wilma Black of Ackerman; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Burial was in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Funeral services for Zeb Rash, Jr. , 70, of Winston County were held on May 12, 2000 at Mt. Talley M. B. Church.
Mr. Rash died on May 7, 2000 of cancer at Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian.
He was a member of Mt. Talley M. B. Church and was a construction worker.

Matthews of Detroit, MI and Irene Rankins of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Harvey Rash of Pittsburgh, PA.

Eliza Thigpen
Funeral services for Eliza Thigpen, 95, of Meridian, were held on May 6, 2000 at Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thigpen died on May 2, 2000 of cardiac arrest at Riley Memorial Hospital of Meridian.
She was a member of Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress.
Survivors include four step-daughters, Winnie B. Gavin of Rose Hill, Lou Eva Turner of New Orleans, LA, Aserlean Hambrick of Laurel and Nancy A. Ellison of Flint, MI; step-sons, Easie Thigpen, Webb Thigpen, Rev. Earl Thigpen of Rose Hill, Lemuel Thigpen of Laurel and Willie Thigpen of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Rev. Darryl Rush officiated at the service with burial in Anderson Jackson Cemetery.

He was a farmer/machinist and a member of Masonic Lodge/Member of Eastern Star and a member of East Louisville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Carr of Louisville; daughter, Geraldine Carr Hindman of Louisville; son, Don Carr of Arlington Heights, IL; sisters, Maggie Lee Crowell of Meridian, Mildred McCloud, Mable Herrington, Maxine Hurt, Miron Hill and Margaret Rogers of Louisville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-grandson.
