Funeral services for Edith Marian Drewery, 57, of Louisville, were held on Friday, July 7, 2000 at Nowell Funeral Services.

Mrs. Drewery died on July 4, 2000 of heart failure at Central Medical Center.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons: Steve Boykin, Matthew Boykin, Stan Boykin and Anthony Drewery of Louisville; daughters, Culetta Killens, Phyllis White Pamela Quinn of Louisvilleand Beverly McClatchy; sisters, Margie Grice, Martha Wood, Margaret Kringlen of Louisville and Marilyn Thomas of Noxapater; brother, Marvin Chambers of North Carolina; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bro. Yarbrough officiated at the service with burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Nowell Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Velma Lee Holman Embry

Funeral services for Velma Lee Holman Embry, 91, of Webster County, were held on July 8, 2000 at Liberty United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Embry died on July 3, 2000 of heart failure at Winston Medical Center.

She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and a housewife.

Survivors include daughters Jerlene Moore of Louisville and Betty Ann Thompson of Jackson and sons, Charles W. Embry of Eupora and Paul H. Embry of Buffalo, NY; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren; 12 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Rev. D. A. Moore officiated at the service with burial in Church Hill Cemetery.

Williams & Herring Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mattie Kate Jernigan

Funeral services for Mattie Kate Jernigan, 76, of Louisville, were held on Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at Nowell Funeral Services of Louisville.

Mrs. Jenigan died on July 2, 2000 of heart failure at her residence in Louisville.

She was a retired waitress.

Survivors include brothers, Elgyn J. Smith of Cleveland and T. J. Smith of Meridian; sisters, Hilda E. Carter of Harrell, AK and Rogenia Swindell of Hernando; a host of nieces of nephews .

Burial was in Poplar Flat Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nowell Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Keys

Funeral services for Thomas Keys, 57, of Jones County, were held on July 9, 2000 at Boyd Chapel U. M. Church.

Mr. Keys died on July 3, 2000 of kidney failure at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

He was a member of Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church and a teacher.

Survivors include wife, Betty Keys of Sturgis; mother, Ardella Keys of Laurel; daughter, Belynda A. Keys of Sturgis; sons, Thomas Keys of Olive Branch, Marcus Keys of Starkville and Timothy Keys of Sturgis; sisters, Ethel Mae Miller, Flora Mae Keys, Brenda Campbell and Josephine McCann of Laurel; Helen Benet of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Nelson Keys, Jr. , Shelton Keys, and James Keys of Laurel and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rev. Mary Hearn officiated at the service with burial in the church cemetery.

Annie Bell Miller

Funeral services for Annie Bell Miller, 101, were held on July 8, 2000 at New Zion M. B. Church.

Ms Miller died on July 3, 2000 at her home in the New Zion Community of heart failure.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. W. L. Hightower officiated at the service with burial in the church cemetery.

Mae Moon

Funeral services for Mae Moon, 84, of Burnet, Texas, were held on July 6, 2000 at First Baptist Church of Noxapater.

Ms. Moon died on July 2, 2000 of heart failure at Kingsland Hill Care Center in Burnet, Texas.

She was a retired nurse.

Survivors include two brothers, Neil Givan of Columbia, TN and Milber Givan of Yarmouth Court, MA; sister, Zula Caperton of Burnet, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. Wayne Sanders officiated at the service with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Bernice Ray

Funeral services for Bernice Ray, 78, of Ackerman were held on Saturday, July 8, 2000 at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ray died on July 5, 2000 of heart failure at Choctaw County Nursing Home.

She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Ackerman and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Billy Ray of Ackerman; daughters, Gay Stacy and Patsy Ray of Ackerman; brother, Laymon Alexander of Steens; sisters, Margaret Fondren of New Orleans, LA and Jean Weir of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rev. Jimmy Flake officiated at the service with burial in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Epilepsy Foundation.

Bessie Mae Anderson

Funeral services for Bessie Mae Anderson, 88, were held on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Mt. Moriah M. B. Church. .

Mrs. Anderson died on July 4, 2000.

Rev. Benjamin Pittman officiated at the service with burial in Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Gerald Carr, Robert Finch, Willie Joe Coleman and Jessie Hughes.

Mary Clifton

Funeral services for Mary Clifton, 67, of Weir were held on Friday, July 14, 2000 at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Clifton died on July 9, 2000 of a heart attack at Choctaw County Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Clifton of Evanston, IL; daughters Johnnie Mae Goss of Louisville, Fannie Bett Arterberry of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Jean Crowther of Columbia, Nellie Hazel Clifton of McCool and Annie Bell Watson of McCool; 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Reed officiated at the service with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Claudie Clark Davis

Funeral services for Claudie Clark Davis, 92, of Louisville were held on July 14, 2000 at Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Davis died on July 12, 2000 of a stroke at Winston Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Davis York of Meridian; sons, Jim Calvin Davis of Columbus and Wyatt J. Davis, Jr. of Laurel; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bess McMillin Frazier

Funeral services for Bess McMillin Frazier, 89, were held on July 11, 2000 at Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Frazier died of heart failure on July 9, 2000 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton, LA.

She was a retired sales lady who had worked at Lucille's in Louisville for many years and was a member of Louisville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Rev. Percy Mac Frazier of Franklinton, LA; daughter, Hallie Jean Blalock of Tuscaloosa, AL; brother, Arnell McMillin of Chattanooga, Tn; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Rev. Chris Keipe officiated at the service with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tilghman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roy Chalmas Gregory

Funeral services for Roy Chalmas Gregory, 80, of Louisville were held on Thursday, July 13, 2000 at Nowell Funeral Services in Louisville.

Mr. Gregory died of heart failure on July 10, 2000 at Winston Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Mitch Haden of Hattiesburg and one grandchild, Leigh Haden of Mobile, AL.

He was a retired barber and a Mason.

Rev. Tommy Jones officiated at the service with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Johnny Frank Hudson, Jr.

Funeral services for Johnny Frank Hudson, Jr. , 27, on July 10, 2000 at Oak Grove #2 M. B. Church.

Mr. Hudson died on July 6, 2000.

Rev. L. L. Logan and rev. George Love officiated at the service.

Active Pallbearers were Billy Beeman, Davell Cistrunk, Bernard Estes, Purvis Holmes, Jr. , Cedrick Hudson, Patrick Hudson, Faser Johnson, Marcus Miller, Frank Rush, Jr. and Hebert Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers were the Class of 1992.
