Funeral services for Sophia Savior, 85, of Louisville, were held on July 15, 2000 at Springhill M. B. Church.
Mrs. Savior died on July 9, 2000 of cardiac arrest at University Medical Center in Jackson.

She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. Ruben Yarbrough officiated at the service with burial in the church cemetery.

Beck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Prentiss Seals

Funeral services for Prentiss Seals, 87, of Winston County, were held on July 13, 2000 at Mt. Sinai M. B. Church. Mr. Seals died on July 7, 2000 of heart failure at Merida South Point Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Dorothy Sullivan and Willie Robinson of Cleveland, Ohio; sons, Henry Seals, Dwight Seals and Tommie Seals of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. Charlie Moore officiated at the service with burial in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.

Beck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Elizabeth Ivy Smith

Funeral services for Agnes Elizabeth Ivy Smith, were held on July 22, 2000 at Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Smith died on July 20, 2000 of heart failure at Winston Medical Center.

She was a retired store clerk and a member of East Louisville Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Darwin Pete Smith of Grayson, LA, Johnny Frank Smith of Philadelphia and John Thomas Smith of Louisville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Ivy Baker of Tuscaloosa, AL and brother, Edgar Ivy, Jr. of Starkville.

Rev. Rob Faulk officiated at the service with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tilghman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas "Tommy" A. Tabor

Funeral services for Tommy Tabor, 58, of Louisville, were held on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at Nowell Funeral Services Chapel.

Mr. Tabor died on July 17, 2000 at his residence in Louisville of cancer.

He was the Winston County Civil Defense Director; an avid golfer, volunteer fireman, Fireman of the Year 1993, member of Lions Club, played football at East Miss. Community College for Bull Sullivan in the early 60's, coached summer league baseball.

Survivors include one son, Todd Tabor of Louisville; daughter, Robin Tabor Clark of Louisville; brothers, Douglas McAdory of Noxapater and Paul McAdory of St. Clair Shores, MI; sister, Susan Tabor Hicks of Jackson; three grandchildren, Jessica Clark, Jordan Clark and Dylan Tabor. Extended family included Brenda Hartness of Louisville, June Dempsey of Starkville, April Shaw of Columbus and Andy Hartness of Louisville.

Pallbearers were Bubba Gentry, Steve Sinclair, Cecil Childs, E. L. Vowell, John Mitchell, David Key, Bruce Goodin, and Artis Lee Davis. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Louisville Fire Department.

Rev. Phil Gerber officiated at the service with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nowell Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Virgie Flake White

Funeral services for Virgie Flake White, 85, of Louisville, were held on July 20, 2000 at Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. White died on July 17, 2000 at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian of leukemia.

She was a homemaker and a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church, a member of WMU and a Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Bell, Annabelle Glass of Louisville and Peggy White of Greenville; sons, Carvel White of Macon , Billy Max White of Vicksbrug, Hubert White of Aurora, CO and Danny White of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rev. Glenn Davis officiated at the service with burial in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tilghman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lilton "Bo" Barber

Graveside services for Lilton "Bo" Barber, 69, were held on July 26, 2000 at Churchill Cemetery.

Mr. Barber died on July 24, 2000 of heart failure at Webster Health Services in Eupora.

He was an orderly.

Rev. George Daniels officiated at the services with burial in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.

Ola Mae Bennoman

Funeral services for Ola Mae Bennoman were held on Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Bennoman died on July 20, 2000.
Rev. Percy Rankins officiated at the service . Pallbearers were relatives.

Jessie Christine Doss

Funeral services for Jessie Christine Doss, 76, of Louisville were held on July 22, 2000 at Mt. Pleasant #1 M. B. Church.

Mrs. Doss died on July 17, 2000 of cardiac arrest at North Ms. Medical Center.

She was a retired assembly line worker and a member of Mount Pleasant #1 Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters , Maxine Curtis and Elgia Ford of Louisville; Ruth Macon and Frankie Bell of Cleveland, Ohio; Maudie B. Eiland of East St. Louis, IL. , Hattie Eiland of Cleveland, Ohio; sons, Tommy Eiland of Louisville, KY; Rufus Eiland and Walter Eiland of Louisville; Roy Eiland of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Virginia Edwards of Saginaw, MI and Ruth Hughes of Louisville; brothers, Daniel Liddel of Louisville, Evaniel Liddel of Shuqualak, Clarence Liddell and Roosevelt Liddell of Saginaw, MI; 35 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rev. Cockrell officiated at the service with burial in Eiland Cemetery.

Johnny Lee Ivy, Jr.

Funeral services for Johnny Lee Ivy, Jr. , 27, of Eupora, were held on July 22, 2000 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Ivy died on July 17, 2000 at Webster County Hospital of cancer.

He was a member of Church of God in Christ and was an assembly line worker with Angelica Corp. of Ackerman.

Survivors include his wife, LaShanta Ivy of Eupora; father, Johnny Ivy, Sr. , of Ackerman; mother, Dorothy Ivy of Ackerman; daughters, Quanita Rochon Ivy of Eupora; son, Jaron LaShon Ivy of Eupora; sisters, Dorothy Johnson of East St. Louis, IL, Jonnie Mae Kirkwood, Sandy Ivy, Mary Mullins, Jo Ann Miller, Brenda Pratt and Belinda Triplett of Ackerman; maternal grandmother, Lillie Eiland of Louisville and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Wellie Daniels Luke

Funeral services for Wellie Daniels Luke, 91, were held Tuesday, July 25 at 11 a. m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Noxapater. Rev. Herb Nettleton, Rev. Mike Brister and
Rev. Danny Purser officiated. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mrs. Luke died Sunday, July 23, at her home in Noxapater. She was a loving parent, grandparent and homemaker. Born and reared in Neshoba County, she had made her home in Winston County, Liberty Community, since 1943. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Noxapater. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Gressett of Meridian and Dwight Sloan of Louisville; five sons, James Luke of Noxapater, Benny Luke of Louisville, Virgie Luke of Pearl, Glenn Luke of Flowood and Larry Luke of Madison; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two sisters, Mary Luke of Noxapater and Margaret Savell of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tilman Luke, son, Cecil Luke and daughter, Martha Carter. Pallbearers were grandsons.

Estella McMullen

Funeral services for Estella McMullen, 66, of Choctaw County, were held on July 29, 2000 at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church.

Mrs. McMullen died on July 20, 2000 of a heart attack at North Mississippi Medical Center.

She was a dietary worker and a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Helen McMullen of Memphis, TN and Jennifer K. McMullen of Indiana, PA; sons, Bobby Frank McMullen of Eupora, Kenneth B. McMullen of Holly Springs; Jeffery K. McMullen of Memphis, Tn; sisters, Irene Farmer of Eupora, Carrie Mae Stevenson of Manchasset, NY, Minnie B. Snow of Milwaukee, WI, Hattie B. McMullen of Ackerman and Willie Mae Beard of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Dinnon McMullen Sr. of Ackerman, George McMullen and Shannon McMullen of Ackerman; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rev. Jerry Lee officiated at the service with burial in Churchill Cemetery.

James J. "Jim" Nicewonger

Funeral services for James J. "Jim" Nicewonger, 69, of Weir, were held on Monday, July 24, 2000 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Mr. Nicewonger died on July 21, 2000 of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, a Baptist and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara B. Nicewonger of Weir; sons, James Leroy Nicewonger of Akron, OH; Carol A. Nicewonger of Akron, OH; Keith Nicewonger of Fayette, AL and James R. Nicewonger of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Charlotte Perfetto of Akron, OH; Barbara Nicewonger; Pinky Ann Nicewonger of Jasper, Al and Terri Nicewonger of Ogallala, NE; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; step-son, James S. Ballock of Jasper, AL and Todd Nicewonger of Nebraska City, NE

Rev. James Richardson and Brad Herrod officiated at the service with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of The American Heart Association.

Eugene Barnett Penick, Sr.

Funeral services for Eugene Barnett Penick, Sr. , 92, of Macon, on July 28, 2000 at First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Penick died on July 25, 2000 of heart failure at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle.

He was a fieldman/manager and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Erman Lou Sumrall Penick of Macon; sons, Eugene Barnett Penick, Jr. and Marlon Rayborn Penick of Macon; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Lindley of Starkville.

Bro. Bill Poole and Dr. John Abernathy Smith officiated at the services with burial in OddFellows Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or donor's favorite charity.
