Wanda Bradberry King

Funeral services for Wanda Bradberry King, 72, of Ackerman, were held on Sunday, October 1, 2000 at Ackerman Baptist Church.

Mrs. King died on September 29, 2000 of respiratory failure at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.

She was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church and was a retired secretary.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Marion King and a sister, Jamie McKinnon.

Survivors include a daughter, Marion McCulloch of Madison, son-in-law Mike McCulloch of Madison, a grandson, Michael Gifford McCulloch of Madison and a granddaughter, Jamie Elaine McCulloch of Madison.
Rev. Ron Harrison and Rev. Jerry Wise officiated at the service with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ackerman Baptist Church or French Camp Academy.

Nowell Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.

Ross McCool

Funeral services for Ross McCool, 86, of Noxapater were held on Wednesday, October 4, 2000.
Mr. McCool died of septic infection on October 1, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was a farmer and general merchandise merchant. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of D. A. V.

Survivors include his wife, Jean McCool of Noxapater; sons, Peyton McCool of Greenville, SC and Bob McCool of Nesbit; brother, Kenneth McCool of Louisville; sister, Loraine Banes of Huntsville, AL and three grandchildren.

Rev. Bobby Parish and Rev. Danny Perser officiated at the service with burial in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Village, P. O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.

Lila Nell Miller

October 1, 2000

Funeral services for Lila Nell Miller, 72, of Blue Eye, Missouri were held on Thursday, October 5 at the Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Branson, MO. Officiating was the Rev. Kevin Kueck of the Ozark Community Church with burial in the Blue Eye City Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died on October 1, 2000 at the Maranantha Manor Nursing Center in Springfield, MO.

Survivors include sons, Joe C. Miller of Klamath Falls, OR and James o. Miller of Fort Smith, Ar; daughters, Reba Hyldahl of Brandon, Fl and Lila Verbeten of springfield, MO; brothers, James McGee of Ackerman and Gerald McGee of Louisville and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oren C. Miller.

Eyvone Thompson Redd

Funeral services for Eyvone Thompson Redd, 78, of Ackerman were held on Thursday, October 5, 2000 at Nowell Funeral Services Chapel.

Mrs. Redd died of heart failure at Choctaw County Hospital on October 3, 2000.
She was a homemaker and a member of Chester Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Redd of Ackerman; daughters, Patricia McClure of Ackerman and Susan Vaughn of Eupora; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, French Camp.

Nowell Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Elaine Blount

Aug. 24, 2002

Funeral services for Andrew Vaughn Taylor, 87, were held on Aug. 18, 2002 at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Schwanebeck and Rev. Gayle Pope officiating. Interment followed at Bethsalem Cemetery.

Born on Sept. 24, 1914 in Weir, he was a retired machinist for Taylor Machine Works. He was a member of Bethsalem Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and Clerk of the Sessions. He died on Aug. 16, 2002 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Dale Taylor; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane Carter and Ted Carter of Louisville; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Taylor of Louisville and Linda Taylor; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bethsalem Cemetery Fund, 410 N. Court, Louisville, MS 39339.

Charles Richardson Burton, Sr.

August 15, 2002

Funeral services for Mary Emma Lampkin Price, 90, will be held at 11 a. m. on Aug. 31, 2002 at Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Hearn officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Born on May 25, 1912 in Sturgis, she was a retired homemaker and a member of Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church. She died on Aug. 23, 2002 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Price of Sturgis; two sons, Acker Lee Yarbrough of Sturgis and Roy Yarbrough of Chicago, Ill. ; four sisters, Elizabeth Yarbrough, Ruth Lowe and Gladys Weatherly, all of Ackerman, and Sue Dickerson of Columbus; a brother, Robert Lampkin of Sturgis; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Williams and Herring Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Cotton

Funeral services for Jimmy Cotton, 55, were held at Crystal Ridge Mennonite Church on August 23, 2002, with Rev. Eddie Johnson officiating. Internment followed at Crystal Ridge Mennonite Church. Born on January 16, 1947, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cotton. He is survived by three sons, Earl Lee Cotton, of Philadelphia; Randy Cotton and James William Cotton, both of Louisville; sisters, Elaine Isaac, Sarah Cotton, Ora Galvin, and Rosie Evans all of Louisville; brothers, Junior Cotton, James Cotton of Philadelphia and Willie Cotton and Cillo Cotton; one grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Milling Funeral Home of Sebastopol was in charge of arrangements.

Saul T Worthy

Oct. 17, 2002

Funeral services for Saul T Worthy, 75, were held Oct. 25 at Little Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C. L. Guyse officiating. Interment followed at the Little Calvary Baptist Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville.

Born Sept. 27, 1927 in Louisville, Worthy was a retired auto worker and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of Little Calvary Baptist Missionary Baptist Church. He died at his home on Oct. 17.

He is survived by his wife, Allie Carter Worthy of Louisville; three daughters, Linda Liggins of Saginaw, MI, Mary Kay Worthy of Omaha, NE, and Ann Swann of Fresno, TX; three sons, Curtis Worthy of McCool, Larry Worthy of Atlanta, GA, and Ricky Worthy of Saginaw, MI; three brothers, Booker T. Worthy and J. D. Worthy both of Milwaukee, WI and Jerry Worthy of Saginaw, MI; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Eddie Mae Hudson

Oct. 17, 2002

Funeral services for Eddie Mae Hudson, 81, were held Oct. 24 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Interment followed at the at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville.

Born April 7, 1921 in Louisville, Hudson was a homemaker and and member Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She died at her daughter's home in Davenport, IA on Oct. 17.

She is survived by one son, Bailey Gaitheright of Davenport, IA; 8 daughters, Virgie Lampkin and Emma Triplett both of Louisville; Quilma Burrage, Dorrothy Jones, Mildred Everett, Callie Parks, Olivia Jones and Sheila Smith of Davenport, IA; two sisters, Veonia Jones and Christine Walker both of Louisville; 31 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Geneva Jones Lovvorn

October 18, 2002

Services for Geneva Jones Lovvorn, 77, of Sturgis, were held October 21, 2002 at Friendship Baptist Church in Sturgis, MS with Rev. Halton Davis, Jr. & Rev. Russell Mord officiating and interment in McClelland Cemetery.

Mrs. Lovvorn died October 18, 2002 at Oktibbeha County Hospital. She was a Homemaker and a Member of Sturgis Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lovvorn is survived by Daughter, Sandra Sanders of Ackerman; Son, Louis Jones of Sturgis; Sister, Lottie M. Files of Sturgis; Three brothers, Frank Jones and Fletcher Jones both of Sturgis; Willie C. Jones of Portage, Ind. ; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund.

Clyde Austin Bishop, Sr.

Nov. 4, 2002

Funeral services were held November 14, 2002, for Clyde Austin Bishop, Sr. , 71, at Barham Chapel in Meridian. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery. He died November 11, 2002. Rev. Bob Wilkerson officiated.

Bishop was born in Birmingham, AL and lived most of his adult life in Louisville and Meridian. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He was the former pastor of the First Assembly of God Church of Louisville and the First Assembly of God Church of Kosciusko and the Church of God of Louisville. He was the former chaplain of Delco-Remy in Meridian and member of Trinity Assembly of God Church of Meridian. He was formerly employed with Spartas Corporation of Louisville, Starkville Tool and Die, American Bach of Columbus, and Lockheed of Marietta, GA.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mavis Cummings Bishop of Meridian; son and daughter-in-law, Austin Bishop and Barbara Bishop of Meridian; three sisters, Christine Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Addie Moore of Indianola, and Ethel Ferguson of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Melvin Bishop of Atlanta, GA; and mother-in-law Zelma Cummings of Glen Allen

Master Sergeant Jesse Davis Kerr

Nov. 11, 2002

Funeral services were held November 14, 2002, for Master Sergeant Jesse Davis Kerr, 67, at Porter Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Burial was at Hopewell Cemetery. He died November 11, 2002. Rev. James Yarbrough officiated.

Born Feb.  8, 1935 in Choctaw County, Kerr was retired from U. S. Air Force and served in Korea and Vietnam. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant while in the service.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith Kerr of McCool; his two daughters, Deborah Kerr of Slidell, LA, and Betty L. smith of Quanah, TX; one son, Marion Davis Kerr of Louisville; mother, Nora Jessie Kerr of McCool; two sisters, Becky Ray of Terry and Peggy Clinton of McCool; one brother, Henry Kerr of Vidalia, GA; and two grandchildren.

Porter Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

George M. "Mike" Hailey

Nov. 11, 2002

Funeral Services for George M. "Mike" Hailey were held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 2 p. m. from the chapel of McClain-Hayes Funeral Home. Rev. John Branning and Rev. Ricky Jones officiated. Burial followed in Hailey-Richey Cemetery in Preston.

Hailey, 52, died Monday, Nov. 11, at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian. He was a native of Winston County. He graduated from Philadelphia High School where he was an All-American basketball player. He also played high school basketball prior at Bruce and Callaway. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree in History and played college basketball. He received a master's degree in School Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He taught and coached at Bruce, Burnsville Nanih Waiya, and Hancock North Central where he also served as Athletic Director. He retired due to health reasons in 1996. He attended Coy United Methodist Church. He was dearly loved by family, friends, and students.

His is survived by his wife, Beth Hailey of Jackson; one son, Ben Hailey and his wife Beth Hailey of Jackson; his parents, George and Cecile Hailey of Louisville; and one brother, Marc Hailey of Louisville. Pallbearers included: Larry Davis, Paul Wayne Collins, Mike Kuykendall, Keith Bostick, Lamar Hailey, Phil Hamilton, Neil Metheny, and Albert Wolfe.
