Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita F. "Nita" Busby, 68, were held at 1 p. m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. The Rev. Danny Bryant and the Rev. Lane Stephenson officiated. Burial followed in Antioch Methodist Cemetery.

A native of Charleston and resident of Ackerman, Mrs. Busby was a cosmetologist and barber. She was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman. Mrs. Busby died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam King of Ackerman and Marsha Ellington of Choctaw, Okla. ; two brothers, Irby Ford of Hernando and Kenneth Ford of Ackerman; two sisters, Katherine Wood of Ackerman and Lois Rayford of Olive Branch; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Katie Cockrell Dempsey

Tuesday, July 27, 2004

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Cockrell Dempsey, 94, were held at 11 a. m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Mrs. Joyce Murphy, Bro. Jimmy Wyatt, Bro. Bo Mills and Mrs. Cindy Gerber officiated. Burial followed in Whitehall United Methodist Church Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Dempsey was a homemaker. She was a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dempsey died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Brown of Louisville; one son, Noble Dempsey of Louisville; one sister, Mary Maude Taylor of Louisville; one brother, Willie Cockrell of Louisville; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Dempsey, John Dempsey, Jason Dempsey, Dwight Dempsey, Lee Brown and Billy Bethany. Honorary pallbearers were Tripp Brown, Matthew Dempsey, Michael Dempsey, Magen Dempsey, Amy Dempsey, Dalton Dempsey, Dylan Dempsey, Daniel Moore and Zachary Owens.

Memorials may be made to the Whitehall United Methodist Church Youth Program.

Mrs. Ella Rebecca Boyd

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Rebecca Boyd, 89, were held at 2 p. m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. The Rev. Chris Young and the Rev. Phil Gerber officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and the Homemakers Club. Mrs. Boyd died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances Childress of Louisville; two sons, Eddie Boyd and Lamar Boyd, both of Starkville; 16 grandchildren; numerous grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Andy Childress, Wayne Childress, Mike Childress, Robbie Childress, Steve Boyd and Stacy Boyd. Honorary pallbearers were Butch Cornelius, James Rutland and Chris Quayle.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Edna Edwards Oliver

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Edwards Oliver, 67, were held at 11 a. m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. The Rev. Keith Dendy officiated. Burial followed in Whitehead Cemetery.

A native of Louisville and resident of Orlando, Fla. , Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker. Mrs. Oliver died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at her home in Orlando, Fla.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Oliver of Orlando, Fla. ; one son, Samuel Oliver of Tavares, Fla. ; two sisters, Pauline Chiles and Bobbie Lee Whitehead, both of Louisville, and one brother, Billy Morris Edwards of Louisville.

Porter Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Elva Cullens Suber

Wednesday, July 28, 2004

Funeral services for Mrs. Elva Cullens Suber, 95, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. Dr. Don Boone officiated. Burial followed in Masonic Cemetery.

A native of New Albany and resident of Louisville, Mrs. Suber was a retired bookkeeper for East Mississippi Electric Power Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Louisville. Mrs. Suber attended Miss Wylie's Business School in Memphis, Tenn. , and moved to Louisville in 1932. She taught Sunday school and was active in the WMU and was a member of the Wednesday Culture Club, Pilot Club, Coffee Club, Little Theater and Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Suber died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Barry Suber and wife Nancianne of Natchez; one sister, Elizabeth Hall of Louisville and one grandson, Robert Suber and wife Margaret of Beauford, S. C.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 547, Louisville, MS 39339.

Mrs. Bobby Nell Gregory Marsh

Funeral services for Mrs. Bobby Nell Gregory Marsh, 74, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. The Rev. Rob Faulk and the Rev. Keith Dendy officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Marsh was a home care worker. She was a member of East Louisville Baptist Church. Mrs. Marsh died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at her home in Louisville.

Survivors include two daughters, Faye Sanders of Louisville and Linda Buchanan of Pascagoula; one son, Gary Easterwood of Lewisburg, Tenn. ; three sisters, Rebecca Ann Schoolar of Mandeville, La. , Martha Slawson of Haughton, La. , and Betty Stevens of Sallis; two brothers, Boyde Gregory and Benny Gregory, both of Mobile, Ala. ; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jamie Culpepper, Todd Easterwood, Daniel Garner, Heath Garrett, Paul Shumaker and Eddie Steven. Honorary pallbearer was Andy Cochran.

Mrs. Athalia Jones Prisock

Saturday, July 31, 2004

Funeral services for Mrs. Athalia Jone Prisock, 100, were held at 11 a. m. Monday, August 2, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Dr. Bob Schwanebeck and the Rev. Jim Lundrum officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Mozelle and resident of Louisville, Mrs. Prisock was a retired high school home economics teacher. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Louisville. Mrs. Prisock was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. She received her master's degree from Mississippi State University. Mrs. Prisock died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at O'Brian East Personal Care Home in Starkville.

Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Maxwell Spartanburg, S. C. ; one son, Edward C. Prisock of Louisville; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children, P. O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703 or to First Presbyterian Church of Louisville.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Fulton Williams Parker

Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Fulton Williams Parker, 77, were held at 11 a. m. , Friday, May 18, 2007 at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia. Rev. Jack Kern and Rev. Dennis Coats officiated. Burial followed in North Bend United Methodist Church cemetery.

A resident of Meridian, Mrs. Parker was a central supplier with Rush Hospital. She was also a member of North Bend United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Parker died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her family residence.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Eugene Parker of Meridian; two daughters, Gleda (James) Chariton of Vaiden and Debbie (Jackie) Penny of Meridian; one son, Terry Williams of Meridian; five sisters, Lucille Williams, Margrett Kittrell, Dorothy Bozeman, Joy Littrell, and Joann Pilgrim all of Philadelphia; one brother, Prentis Fulton of Philadelphia; twelve grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Timothy Williams, Randal Williams, Wes Williams, Jeff Charlton, Johnny Williams, and Ralin Williams.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Home of Philadelphia was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Alvin J. Anderson

October 10, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Alvin J. Anderson, 91, were held at 1 pm October 12, 2010 at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia, MS. Reverend Richard Burks and Reverend Jimmy Townsend officiated. Burial followed in Bloomfield Cemetery in Philadelphia.

Mr. Anderson was a retired farmer, logger and construction worker. He was also a member of Pentecostal Apostolic Church. Mr. Anderson died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Neshoba County General Hospital in Philadelphia.

Survivors include daughter Ima Jean Johnson, sons Jimmy Dale Anderson, Prentice Ray Anderson, Tommy Wayne Anderson, Robert Anderson, Larry Glen Anderson, and Lee Allen Anderson, brothers Marvin Anderson, Hickman Anderson, and Otis Anderson, nineteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Justin Anderson, Chad Anderson, Kyle Nowell, Billy Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Bruce Anderson, and Cody Burton. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna Earl Rosamond

Services for Edna Earl Rosamond were held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 2 PM from McClain-Hays Funeral Home

Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Pool and Rev. Norman Sanders officiating. Burial followed in Goodin Cemetery in Preston.

Mrs. Rosamond, 81, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.

She was a native of Winston County and a long time resident of the Nanih Waiya and Preston communities. She was retired from Nemanco in Philadelphia as an inspector. Mrs. Rosamond was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include daughters, Dot Robertson of Preston, Ruth Luke of Preston, Glenda Shelton of Millbrook, AL, and Brenda Agent of Preston; sons, Joe Rosamond of Millbrook, AL and Johnny Rosamond of Shuqualak; 17 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Overstreet of Vancleave, Kitty Ruth Overstreet of Vancleave, Willow Dean Warren of Preston, and Imogene Sullivan of Preston; brother, Rejune “Son” Green of Vancleave; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Grandson and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mr. Willie “Redd” Henley

October 6, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Willie “Redd” Henley were held at 1:00 pm October 11, 2010 at Unity M. B. Church. Reverend Benjamin Pittman officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Garden.

Mr. Henley was retired. He was also a member of Mount Moriah of Louisville and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Henley died October 6, 2010 at Singing River Hospital in Pascaugulo, MS.

Survivors include wife Ms Annie K. Beasley Henley, father Walter Henley, mother Tiller Henley, daughters Jamila Henley and Matilda Kordonski, sons Willie Henley and Gabriel Henley, sisters Beatrice Hamilton, Pearlie Bates, Ethel Love, Emma Hannah, and Carolyn Matthews, brothers Jimmy C. Henley, Howard Henley, Jessie Henley, and Eddie Henley, seven grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Williams, Herring & Hampton was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kent Gordon Hunt

Mr. Kent Gordon Hunt, 52 of Starkville, MS, passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 17, 2010.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized at the age of 10. He was also the owner of Hunt’s Jewelry and an avid sportsman. Kent coached SBA Little League Baseball for many years.

He is survived by his wife Beverly; sons, Gordon and Garrett; parents, Jerry and Audie Hunt; brother, Mark Hunt and their son Davis all of Starkville, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20 at First Baptist Church at 10 a. m. conducted by Rev. Clifton Curtis. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Park.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Outreach Center or the Youth program, 106 E. Lampkin St. , Starkville, MS 39759.

Mr. Charles Preston “Junnie” McMinn

Charles Preston “Junnie” McMinn, 83, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 17, 2010, at 3:00 P. M. at Ackeman Baptist Church with Burial following in Antioch Methodist Cemetery Reform, MS. Officiating ministries were Jerry Lawson and Danny Irvin.

Mr. McMinn was a resident of Ackerman for many years a retired Maintenance Supervisor at Choctaw County Schools, and a member of Ackerman Baptist Church.

He was born in Sunflower County on May 29, 1927.

He is survived by his wife Ola Faye McMinn of Ackerman; two son Charles McMinn of Ackerman and Ralph McMinn of Plymouth MA. one daughter Anita Jenkins of Ackerman, MS. ; three brothers William McMinn of Ackerman, MS, Harold McMinn of Tupelo, MS and Joe McMinn of San Antonio TX. , three sisters, Peggy Ming of Ackerman MS. ; Allie Busby of Ackerman, MS. And Dean Coker of San Antonio TX. four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Family suggest memorial to Ackerman Baptist Church Family Life Center or Antioch Methodist Cemetery Funds.
