Mrs. Ruth Weeks Hannah

September 5, 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Weeks Hannah, 91, were held at 11am Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Mrs. Hannah died September 5, 2010 in Ocean Springs, MS. Survivors include children Edna H. Shaw, Charlene H. Fausak, Thomas J. Hannah, Joene H. Nickerson, sister Elizabeth W. Whatley, twelve grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made out to the Longview Baptist Church or to one’s favorite charity. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hattie W. Jones

August 26, 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie W. Jones were held at 11 am, August 31, 2010 at Beck Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, MS. Minister Tom Robinson officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was also a member of Holy Sister Helping Hands Holy Church, Louisville. Mrs. Jones died August 26, 2010 at Winston County Nursing Home.

Survivors include daughters Victoria Jones, Margaret Hoskins, Latoya Jackson, Mary and Sudie Jones, sons Jerome Warren, Timothy Jones, Samuel Jones, and Willie Carl Jones, sisters Willie Mae Shell, Addie Parker, Mary Shell, Geraldine Harrison, Ruth Hoskins, Delois Hickman, Adaline Hickman, and Gerald Patty, brother J. Larry Warren, 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Beck Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jane Sharon Miller

August 25, 2010

Funeral services for Jane Sharon Miller were held at 1pm August 30, 2010 at Agape Baptist Church. Reverend Robert Brownlee officiated. Burial followed at Union Chapel Cemetery.

Jane Miller was a homemaker. She died August 25, 2010 at Americare Nursing Home in Memphis, TN.

Survivors include mother Remonia Miller, son Kendrick Miller, sisters Latoshia Foster, Carrie R. Miller, Jachandra Wilson, and Keltia Nash, three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Beck Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gary Keith Neal

September 3, 2010

Memorial services for Mr. Gary Keith Neal, 54, were held at 11 am Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Freeny UMC in Carthage, MS. Pastor Kelly Pope, Brother Richard Rankin, brother Stan Lobin, and Brother Johnny Presley officiated.

Mr. Neal was a member of Freeny UMC, Carthage Lions Club, DRGHS, Leake County Republican Executive Committee, ECCC Alumni Association and Memphis BBQ Network Judges. He was a former Louisville resident.

Mr. Neal died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Hospice in His Hands in Madden, MS.

Survivors include wife Lurline McKee Neal, daughter Adrienne Alecia Monk, sisters Ann Freeny and Betty Vowell, brother H. V. Neal, Jr. , and one grandchild. Honorary pallbearers were Neal’s nephews and members of the Carthage Lion’s Club.

Mrs. Roxanne Nickerson

Funeral Services for Mrs. Roxanne Nickerson, 39, will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness at 10 A. M. Thursday, September 16, 2010, with burial following at Donald Rest Cemetery at Philadelphia, MS. Bro Leonard Baker and Bro Eddie Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Nickerson passed away at her home in Philadelphia, She was a 1989 graduate of Neshoba Central High School. She attended East Central Community College. She worked as an Independent Vending Contractor. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her husband Bro. Bernard Nickerson of Philadelphia, her father and mother Theodis Clemons and Lena McWilliams Clemons of Philadelphia, MS; two sisters Nicole Patrick and Amber Moore of Philadelphia, three brothers; Bryan Clemons of Philadelphia MS. ; Gregory Clemons of Bryam, MS. ; Nathanael Moore of Philadelphia, MS and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Hugh Miller, 44, were held at Mars Hill Baptist Church at 2 P. M. Saturday, September 11, 2010, with burial following in church cemetery at Edinburg, MS. Rev. David Dewease officiating.

Mr. Miller passed away at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS, on Tuesday September 7, 2010. He was a graduate of Edinburg High School. He attended Hinds Junior College. He enjoyed spending time with his children. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters Samantha Pearl Miller and Destini Laschae Miller of Carthage, MS; three sons, Zackery Carmen Miller and Matthew Lyle Miller of Collinsville, MS. Christopher Huff of Carthage, MS; one sister, Penny Miller of Carthage, MS and one nephew.

Ms. Clark passed away in Neshoba County on Sunday, September 5, 2010. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was a security guard at East MS State Hospital in Meridian, MS.

She is survived by her father Ben Clark of De Kalb and mother Laura Clark of Philadelphia, MS. ; two sisters, Vickie Walls of Dallas TX and Renora Rencher of De Kalb, MS; two brothers, Willie Clark of Meridian, MS and Andy Clark of Syracuse, NY.

Mrs. Colter passed away at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, on Tuesday September 7, 2010. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Mrs. Colter was a homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters D. Jean Payne of Nashville, TN. Maxine Hoskins of Kankakee IL. , Mary Ann Colter of Columbus OH. , Velma Colter of Louisville, MS; two sons, Willie Colter of Tacoma WA. , and Milton Colter of Columbus OH; one brother, Benjamin F. Thompson of Ann Maine AL. , 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends

Mr. William W. “Bill” Johnson

Mr. William W. “Bill” Johnson, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A. M. Tuesday, Sept. 14th, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment was in Betheden Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was born January 26, 1924 in St. Joseph, LA. He was a retired machinist for Southern Natural Gas Co. , a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bess Boswell and Arthur Whitfield Johnson; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Whitney.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Weeks Johnson of Louisville, MS; a daughter, Billie Joy Harrell of Louisville, MS; a son, Jimmy Johnson of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Claire Crowell of Louisville, MS; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Wayne Tucker, Kenny Bourland, Larry Alexander, Tom Gregory, Tom Blalock, and Kenny Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers were the retirees of Southern Natural Gas Co.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 523, Louisville, MS, 39339.

Mrs. Cora Lee Palmer

Mrs. Cora Lee Palmer, 68, passed away August 21, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Visitation was Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5 to 8 p. m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, Louisville, MS. Funeral service was held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 a. m. at Harmony Baptist Church, Louisville MS. Rev. Jerry Lundy and Rev. Tommy Jones officiated.

Mrs. Palmer was a retired cafeteria worker from Nanih Waiya School. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Ada Elizabeth Monty Hamilton and son, Roy Wayne Palmer.

Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Palmer, Sr. , Louisville, MS; 3 sons, Joe W. Palmer, Jr. and Dana, Mobile, AL, Jerry P. Palmer and Sue, Pisgah, MS, Johnny L. Palmer an Allison, Philadelphia, MS; step-daughter, Rita Herman, Louisville, MS; 2 sisters, Maria Ann Underwood, Louisville, MS, Bea Price and George, Riverside, MI; 3 grandchildren, Jason Palmer, Nashville, TN, Arin Palmer, Mobile, AL, Posey Leigh Palmer, Philadelphia, MS; 3 step-grandchildren, Dustin Herman, Megan Herman and Melanie Waldrop; 2 great- grandchildren, Hayden Patrick, Katelyn Noel.

Pallbearers were Victor Underwood, Dave Underwood, Jason Palmer, Arin Palmer, Dustin Herman, and Paul Reed.

Mrs. Virginia Cartledge Calloway

Mrs. Virginia Cartledge Calloway, 85, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Bedford Care Center in Marion, MS. Graveside services were held at 1:00 P. M. Saturday, September 11th, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Calloway was born November 20, 1924, in Winona, MS. She attended Wood Jr. College, and graduated with a B. A. from Mississippi College. She taught elementary school in Sidon, Drew, and Fernwood, MS, and in Birmingham and Decatur, AL. She taught high school English in Merigold, MS. She also taught homebound children in for hospice ministries in Birmingham, AL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vera Powell and Reginald D. Cartledge, Sr. , sisters, Louise Leber, Nan Henry, and Marion Hall; brothers, Reginald Cartledge, Jr. , and Robert Sydney Cartledge, Sr. , a niece, Jennifer Henry, and nephews, Liston E. Cartledge, Jr. , and Robert Daniel Henry.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Calloway of Meridian, MS; a brother, Liston E. “Bo” Cartledge, Sr. of Mobile, AL; her brother-in-law, Dr. J. E. (Edwina) Calloway of Louisville, MS; nieces, Rebecca Taylor of Wiggins, MS, Susan Henry Low of Vienna, VA, Nancy Henry Yegge of San Antonio, TX, Kim Cartledge Munoz of Alachua, FL, Mary Cartledge Caddell of Mobile, AL, Holly Virginia Cartledge of Mobile, AL, and Amy Hall Irvin of Starkville, MS; nephews Rev. Hal Hall of Madison, MS, Robert Sydney Cartledge, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, and David Small Cartledge of Homewood, AL; and several grand nieces and grand- nephews.

Doris Elaine Triplett Boydstun

Doris Elaine Triplett Boydstun, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at her home in Louisville.

Funeral services were held at 4 p. m. , Monday, Sept. 6, at First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.

Mrs. Boydstun was born October 27, 1925, in Brooksville, MS, the daughter of Doris Harper and Howard Hastings Triplett, Sr. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Osborn Boydstun; her son, Philip Marshall Boydstun; son-in- law, Cavett Taff; and brother, Howard Hastings “Buddy” Triplett, Jr.

Mrs. Boydstun leaves her daughter, Carol Taff of Jackson; son, Tommy Boydstun and his wife Leah of Louisville; a sister, Barbara Triplett Reid of Dallas, TX; and seven grandchildren, Emily, Philip, Lila and Ryder Taff and Caroline, Marshall and Anna Grace Boydstun.

Mr. Patrick Dorsitt Holmes

August 12, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Patrick Dorsitt Holmes, 33, were held at 1 pm Friday, August 20, 2010 at Friendship M. B. C. Reverend Antonio M. Smith officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Garden.

Mr. Holmes was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church Male Choir. Mr. Holmes died August 12, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Survivors include father Larry Holmes, mother Francis Holmes, brothers Eric Holmes and Christopher Holmes, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Williams, Herring & Hampton F. H. was in charge of arrangements.
