Mrs. Annie “Lois” McBrayer

Mrs. Annie "Lois" McBrayer, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, October 25, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William "Bill" E. McBrayer. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Katherine (Landrum) Stokes of Louisville; Gene (Landrum) Gregory of Noxapater, Mississippi; and Bernice (Landrum) Puska of Houston, Texas.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Bambi McBrayer Bagwell; son-in-law, Corey Bagwell; grandson, William Bagwell of Starkville, Mississippi. She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law: Royce and Opal McBrayer of Louisville, Mississippi; Sarah and the late Boyce McBrayer of Demopolis, Alabama; Cecil and Liz McBrayer of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Richard and Nancy McBrayer of West Point, Mississippi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lois was a retired elementary school principal. She also served as a director of special services and has served many years of teaching regular and special education in Mississippi and Georgia. When she and her husband retired, they moved back to their hometown of Louisville, Mississippi, where she currently lived. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Louisville, Mississippi. She also enjoyed Friday night games of Rook with her friends, traveling around the United States and abroad, and especially enjoyed loving, playing with and spoiling her only grandchild, William!

A special thanks goes to Dr. William Williams of Jackson and his wonderful care during her brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Thanks and praises also goes out to the 5th floor nurses and hospice ministries staff of Baptist Medical Center for their treatment, care, devotion, patience and words of encouragement during our stay at Baptist.

Visitation for Mrs. Lois was Wednesday, October 27, 2010, from 5 p. m. until 8 p. m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services were Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 11:00 a. m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers were Ronald Stokes, Rodney Stokes, Paul Netherland, Chris McBrayer, Keith McBrayer, and Steve McBrayer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Children’s Department at Calvary Baptist Church, 405 North Jackson Street, Starkville, MS 39759.

Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi, is handling the arrangements.

Ms. Olline Rainer Richland

Mrs. Eva Olline Rainer, 91, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services were at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11AM. Interment followed at Lakewood Memorial Park.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Rainer, Walter, Richard, Howard and Mike Rainer; daughters, Jane Chappel, Vickie Lott, Linda May, and Melissa Welborn; sisters, Inez Hillard of Dallas, Tx and Jauwese Franklin of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Tom C. Tiller

November 9, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Tom C. Tiller, 57, were held at 2pm November 14, 2010 at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville, MS. Reverend William Haynes officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Garden Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mr. Tiller was a Laborer. Mr. Tiller passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Winston County Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include Sisters, Goldie Coleman of Noxapater, MS; Ella May Taylor and Lizzie Sanders of Huntsville, AL. Brothers, Jerry Tiller of Louisville, MS and Johnnie Grant of Meridian, MS. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mr. Thomas Jefferson Hickman

November 6, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Jefferson Hickman, 75, were held at 11am November 12, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant #1 M. B. Church in Louisville, MS. Reverend Willie Daniels officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mr. Tiller was a retired Laborer from EMEPA. Mr. Hickman passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Survivors include Son, Terrence J. Kincaid of Louisville; Step-sons Bobby D. Triplett, Rico Riddle and Carlous Riddle of Louisville. Step-daughters Rotunda B. Riddle and Shamalisha M. Riddle of Louisville. Brothers Joe P. Hickman of Louisville, Major Hickman of Austell, GA, Carlos N. Hickman of Chicago, IL. Sisters Betty S. Hickman, Emma L. Glenn, Virginia Glenn, Grace Gidwell, Sally Banks and Ruby Goudy all of Chicago, IL.

Mrs. Lula Carter

Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Carter, 84, were held at 1pm November 11, 2010 at Mr. Calvary M. B. Church in Louisville. Reverend E. C. Pittman officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Mount Calvary M. B. Church in Louisville. Mrs. Carter passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Dorothy Daniels Moore

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Daniels Moore, 51, were held at 2pm November 13, 2010 at Mt. Vernon M. B. Church in Noxapater. Reverend David Harris, Sr. officiated. Burial followed in Union Chapel Cemetery in Noxapater.

A resident of Winston County, Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Noxapater, MS. Mrs. Moore passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.

Survivors include Clint Moore, Jr. , husband. Mother, Ella Mae Miller. Daughter Mercedes Hathorn. Sons Cornelius Hathorn of Killeen, TX and Renardo Hathorn of Louisville. Sisters Ella R. Miller, Annie Daniels, Dorothy Young, Rosie Woods, Phyllis Miller, Mary Miller Nancy Naylor and Linda Daniels all of Louisville. Brothers Winston Miller, Jr. , Johnny Gill of Louisville and Larry Daniels of Columbus, MS. 4 Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Christine Padillia Murphy

November 13, 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Padilla Murphy, 55, were held at 1:00pm, November 16, 2010 at Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. Reverend Danny Irvin officiated. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery near Ackerman.

A resident of Ackerman, Mrs. Murphy was disabled. She was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. Mrs. Murphy died November 13, 2010 at her residence in Ackerman.

Survivors include husband, Richard Murphy and son, Josh Murphy. Brother, Paul Padilla of Pascagoula, MS and sister Carolyn Bray of Grenada, MS.

Memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery Fund. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William Owen Jenkins

November 6, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. William Owen Jenkins, 61, were held at 2:00pm, November 13, 2010 at Ackerman Community Center in Ackerman, MS. Reverend I. D. Thompson officiated. Burial followed in Bethsalem Cemetery in Reform, MS.

A resident of Ackerman, Mr. Jenkins was a Laborer. He was also an Army Veteran and a member of Bethsalem Missionary Baptist Church in Reform, MS. Mr. Jenkins passed away November 6, 2010 in his home.

Survivors include 5 daughters, Dianco Stallworth of Pascagoula, MS, Tracie Graham, Felicia Green and Trease Patterson all of Gautier, MS and Laquicia Jenkins of Biloxi, MS. Sisters Dessie Blanchard of Harvey, IL; Margaret Jenkins, Viola Cork and Iola Gladney all of Ackerman, MS. Brothers Rev. Charlie Jenkins of Chicago, IL; Sam Jenkins and J. W. McKinney of Ackerman, MS. 11 Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wilma Clark Sanders

Mrs. Wilma Clark Sanders, 99, died Friday, November 12, 2010 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, November 14th, at Evergreen Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders was born April 25, 1911, in Louisville, MS, the daughter of Sallie Bennett and Johnnie C. Clark. She was a graduate of Noxapater High School, and attended nursing school at the University of Virginia. She was a homemaker, and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olyn Sanders, and a daughter, Betty Joyce Sanders.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Agent of Louisville, MS, and Jean King of Madison, MS; a sister, Ethel Atkinson of Louisville, MS; a brother, Ernest L. Clark of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Suzanne Agent, Rebecca Phelps, Stephen King, and Nowell Agent; and seven great grandchildren, Ian & Noelle Scroubelos, and Abby, Heidi, Bennett, Maylee, and Sam David Phelps. Pallbearers were Nowell Agent, Stephen King, Mike Phelps, Ian Scroubelos, Bruff Sanders, and Johnnie Lee Clark.

Memorials may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church, 230 Evergreen Rd, Louisville, MS, 39339, or Hope Hollow Ministries, P. O. Box 2247, Madison, MS, 39130.

Mr. Olyn L. Houston

Mr. Olyn L. Houston, 86, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, Nov. 7th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Painter officiating. Interment was in

Ellison Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Houston was born September 28, 1924, in Winston County, MS. He was an Army and Navy veteran of World War II, and was a retired welder at Taylor Machine Works. He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lynn Houston; his parents, Nellie Hill and J. K. Houston; and a sister, Jessie Inez Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Smith Houston; four daughters, Roslyn Collins of Trussville, AL, Rhonda Hurt of Jacksonville, FL, Rebekah Reed of Charlotte, NC, and Ramona Green of Starkville, MS; two brothers, Theodore Houston and Otis Houston, both of Louisville, MS; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Mike Fuller, Perry Hemphill, Larry Hemphill, Stanley Eaves, Larry Cockrell, Edward Stokes, and Johnny Eaves. Honorary pallbearers are Leroy Fulcher, John Moorehead, Ted Eaves, Gary Hill, and Steve Jernigan.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn. , the American Kidney Foundation, and the American Diabetes Foundation.

Mrs. Sylvia Renae Stokes

Mrs. Sylvia Renae Stokes, 53, passed away Thursday November 4, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. , at John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services, with Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Stokes was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. Mrs. Stokes was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Stokes of Philadelphia, MS; two sons, Michael Edward Stokes of Decatur, MS and Johnnie Alton Stokes of Philadelphia, MS, step father Jimmie Kyzar of Hickory, MS; two sisters, Kathy Hall of Pascagoula, MS and Regenia Hollingsworth of Newton, MS; three brothers, Morris Neese of Hickory, MS, Paul Neese of Philadelphia, MS and Jimmy Kyzar of Pascagoula, MS; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

John E. Stephens Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kendrick L. Miller

Kendrick L. Miller, 30, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in a auto accident at Carthage, MS. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 1:00 p. m. , at Agape M. B. Church, with Rev. Robert Brownlee officiating. Burial followed in Union Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Miller was a laborer and a member of Agape M. B. Church in Louisville, MS.

He is survived by his father, Frank Miller Jr. ; one daughter KaKenya, two sons; Kindle and Xavier; one brother, Sed Houston of Louisville, MS; maternal grandmother Remonia Miller, aunts, uncles cousins and other relatives and friends

Mr. Hulon McQueen

Hulon McQueen, 77, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Graveside services were held Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 9:00 p. m. , at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, with Rev. Joe Glass officiating.

Mr. McQueen was a retired laborer and a member of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Melba McQueen. one daughter LaTonya McQueen Glass of Louisville, MS, one son; Pierre McQueen of Jackson, MS; one sister: Suretta Nunn of Noxapater, MS. ; three brothers, Delphia, Marion Jr. and David McQueen all of Louisville, MS. ; and three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends

Funeral services for Mr. Hailey Verda Bryan, 86, were held at 11:00 am November 4, 2010 at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia. Reverend Ray Luke and Reverend John Stephens officiated. Burial followed at North Bend Methodist Cemetery in Philadelphia. Mr. Bryan was a retired farmer, worked at Byars Furniture Company and was owner/operator of Philadelphia Dry Cleaners. He was a World War Two U. S. navy veteran, a member of V. F. W. and American Legion. He was also a member of North Bend Methodist Church. Mr. Bryan died Monday, November 1, 2010 at University Medical Center. Survivors include daughter Jan (Jack) McMichael, sisters Mildred Staudt, Bessie Andrews, Evelyn Fulton, Naomi Beckham, Nellie Woodward, Verdain Glenn, Mary Burkeen, and Lula Bell, brothers Bobby D. Bryan, Bennie Bryan, Billy Bryan, Aaron Bryan, and David Bryan, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Al Bryan, Kenny Bryan, Harold Bryan, David Bryan Jr. , Bryan Glenn, Adam Bryan, Josh Bryan, Paul Embry, and Claudie Embry. John E. Funeral services for Mr. Arlee Edwards, 61, were held at 11:00 am November 4, 2010 at Chapel of Williams, Herring & Hampton. Reverend John Ball officiated. Burial followed in New Zion Cemetery. Mr. Edwards was retired. He was also a member of Harper Chapel M. B. Mr. Edwards died October 29, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Survivors include mother Mary Coleman, daughter Demetric McMillian, son Anthony Edwards, sisters Ellouise Howard, Lois Ball, Martha Moore, Jewelean Davis, and Bonnie Jackson, brothers Obie Lee Hathorn, Jimmy Coleman, and Malcolm Coleman, twelve grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Williams, Herring & Hampton was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Patsy Jean Mullen

Funeral services for Mrs. Patsy Jean Mullen, 75, were held at 2:00 pm November 4, 2010 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Reverend Ed Pogue and Reverend Danny Irvin officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Mrs. Mullen was a retired librarian and county agent. She was also a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. Mrs. Mullen died November 2, 2010 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. Survivors include husband Edgar Moon Mullen, daughter-in-law Julie Mullen, three grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
