Mr. Herman Justice

Visitation for Mr. Herman Justice, 82, was held from 4 to 9 p. m. Friday, June 23 at Modell Funeral Home in Darien, Illinois, with internment at Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Fulton, Mr. Justice was an inspector for Danly Machine Corporation. Mr. Justice died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at his home in Westport, Illinois.

Survivors include his children, Sandra and Herman, Jr. ; and his brother, Virgie Guynes.

Modell Funeral Home of Darien, Illinois, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. F. H. "Jack" Kelly, Jr.

Monday, June 19, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. F. H. "Jack" Kelly, Jr. , 75, were held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia. Rev. John Stephens and Rev. Delbert Latham officiated. Burial followed in Fellowship Cemetery in Philadelphia.

A resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Kelly was a truck driver for 31 years and was a safety director for 10 years for Olen Burrage Trucking. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Kelly died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Kelly of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Sue Frasier of Philadelphia and Jerri Stribling of Carthage.

Pallbearers were Masons.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Christine Roberts

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Roberts, 84, were held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. mike Childs and Dr. Prentiss Gordon officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and of the Guild Circle of the UMW. Mrs. Roberts died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at her home in Louisville.

Survivors include her daughter, Genia Dufour of Meridian, MS; four sons, Kent Roberts and Robin Roberts of Louisville, Larry Roberts of Umatilla, FL, and Steve Roberts of Columbia, MO; one sister, Margie Rodgers of Louisville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charles Bond, Bobby Clary, Jimmy Hathorn, Roy King Humphries, Bob McCloud, and Larry Woodward.

In lieu of flowers, donations made by made to Palmer Home, Methodist Children's Home, or French Camp Academy.

Nowell Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marshall Gilmore Dawkins

June 21, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. Marshall Gilmore Dawkins, 98, were held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Eddie Pilgrim officiated. Burial followed in Betheden Cemetery.

A resident of Louisville, Mr. Dawkins was a farmer and a member of Betheden Lutheran Church. Mr. Dawkins died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at his home in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Faye White Dawkins of Louisville; three daughters, Betty Rhodes, Beverly Quinn, and Patti Peterson of Louisville; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dale Dickerson, Todd Eldridge, Tony Jordan, Tommy Peterson, Ladd Reynolds, and Glenn Rhodes.

Nowell Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Emment Lemar Rush

June 21, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. Emment Lemar Rush, 45, were held Sunday, June 25, 2006 at 2:00p. m. at New Prospect M. B. Church in Louisville. Rev. Floizell Wilson officiated.

Mr. Rush was a member of Mt. Pisgah M. B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Babers.

Survivors include his wife, Walterine Rush; his parents, Emmett (Buck) and Berline Rush; his daughter, Jennifer; his sons, Jason and Jordan Rush; four sisters, Catherine Hanes of Louisville, MS. ; Mildred Givens (Jasper) and Lois Hopkins (Kenneth) of Calumet City, IL; Roshelle Kirk (Wes) of Preston, MS. ; brother, Otis Rush of Rock Island, IL; two grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Leon Williams

Funeral services for Mr. James Leon Williams, 73, were held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. Rev. Gayle Pope officiated. Burial followed in Poplar Flat Cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Williams was a retired parts foreman at Taylor Machine Works. He was a member of Poplar Flat Baptist Church and after retirement, he worked in the Garden Center at Wal-Mart. He was a Navy veteran of Korea and was a member of the VFW. Mr. Williams died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include his daughter, Jane Bouchillon of Louisville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rusty Dooley, Brad Hodges, Mike Peterson, Fred Nabers, Jim Bouchillon, and Danny Kenne.

Memorials may be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

Porter Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Martin Earl Goolsby

Thursday June 22, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. Martin Earl Goolsby, 56, were held at 3 pm Saturday, June 22, 2006, at Ott & Lee Funeral home Chapel in Forest. Dr. Jim Everett officiated. Burial followed in Antioch- Steele Cemetery.

Mr. Goolsby was a native and long time resident of Scott County. He was a former resident of Noxapater. Mr. Goolsby was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Goolsby in 1987 & his two brothers, Grover "Rod" Goolsby in 1994 and Arthur Goolsby in 1997.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Joyce Harrell of Noxapater; mother, Nell Goolsby of Forest; one daughter, Rebecca Sorrels of Noxapater; three sons, Neal Harrell, Wayne Harrell and Trent Harrell all of Noxapater; three brothers, Sam Goolsby, Tony Goolsby and Johnny Goolsby all of Forest; three sisters Mildred Risher, Iva Nell Wilcher, and Dorothy Goolsby all of Madden; four grandchildren; and a number of aunts uncles cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charles Goolsby, Thomas Goolsby, Johnny Ray Goolsby. Jamie Goolsby, Melton Culpepper, and John Gardner.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Minnie May

Harmon Holmes

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie May Harmon Holmes, 84, were held Friday, June 23, 2006 at Brushfork M. B. Church in Louisville. Rev. Robert Avant officiated. Burial followed in Ruth Cemetery in Noxubee County.

As a native of Macon, Mrs. Holmes was a long term employee in the Saginaw Correctional System while living in Saginaw, Michigan. She later moved back to Macon, Mississippi where she enjoyed her last days in the surrounding of friends and family.

Survivors include one sister, Lizzie Cotton of Macon; one sister-in-law, Edna Harmon of Macon; one brother-in-law, Joe Cotton; one stepdaughter Rose Mary Smith of Louisville; two nephews John Henry Cotton of Macon and James Wyatt of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandsons Christopher Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan and Keith Harmon of Atlanta Georgia.

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Evelyn Boswell Bennett

Evelyn Boswell Bennett, 90, of Louisville, MS, died on January 1, 2005, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Mrs. Bennett was living at Sunnybrook Estates at the time of her death. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, January 4, at Louisville Presbyterian Church with graveside services preceding at 10:00 A. M. at Memorial Park in Louisville. Visitation will take place Monday evening from 5 P. M. to 7 P. M. at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville.

Mrs. Bennett was born on September 1, 1914, in Noxapater, MS, the daughter of Herman Frank Boswell and Selma Webb Boswell. She was married in 1938 to the late William Edgar Bennett of Louisville. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women (now Mississippi University for Women) with a BA degree in 1936 and taught fourth grade in Louisville Public Schools for many years.

Mrs. Bennett was an active member of Louisville Presbyterian Church for over 60 years and was an Associate member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Mrs. Bennett was a charter member and former president of Louisville Junior Auxiliary and the Louisville Fortnightly Club. In Jackson she was a former member of Concordia Luncheon Club.

She was an avid Mississippi State and Atlanta Braves fan, a marvelous cook, a voracious reader and enthusiastic bridge player. She loved to vacation in Gulf Shores and recently celebrated her birthday there with family and friends.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Bennett Hairston and John Peter Hairston of Mt. Pleasant, TX, and Martha Bennett Power and Oliver Kenneth Power, III, of Ridgeland, MS; brothers, Wedd A. Boswell of Noxapater, and Dr. H. F. Boswell, Jr. , of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Alexander Kenneth Power of Starkville, MS, Holly Hairston Steen of Frisco, TX, Olivia Power Long of Conyers, GA, William Bennett Hairston of Park City, UT, and Margaret Power Kaderli of Newtown, CT; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Louisville Presbyterian Church in Louisville, MS, Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS, or Hospice Ministries, Inc. , in Ridgeland, MS.

Mr. Thomas Boyce Coleman

Graveside services for Mr. Thomas Boyce Coleman, 89, were held Saturday, January 1, 2005 at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS.

A native of Ackerman, Mr. Coleman was a truck and fleet manager for Estabrook Motor Company until his retirement in 1977. He also served on the Mississippi Education Finance Commission from 1968 to 1988 and served as chairman in 1973-1974 and 1979-1980. Mr. Coleman was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a member of the Grand Lodge of Mississippi F & A. M. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Hamasa Shriners. Mr. Coleman died Tuesday, December 28, 2004.

Survivors include his daughter, Sue Leggett of Pascagoula; sister, Ruth Golden of Vaughn, MS; brother, W. D. Coleman of Jackson, MS; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. William Porter Griffith

Funeral services for Mr. William Porter Griffith, 78, were held at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman, MS. Rev. Danny Irvin officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.

A resident of Germantown, TN, and former resident of Ackerman, Mr. Griffith was a retired chemical engineer. He was a member of Germantown Baptist Church. Mr. Griffith died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at his home in Germantown.

Survivors include his wife, Katrina Griffith of Germantown, TN; daughter, Tina Griffith of Germantown, TN; son, John Griffith of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS.

Mrs. Mary Inell Dawkins Hudson

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Inell Dawkins Hudson, 85, were held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Louisville. Rev. Martha Williams officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Hudson was a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Louisville. Mrs. Hudson died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at the Winston County Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include her four daughters, Belva Eiland of East Lansing, MI, Frankie Granberry of Florissant, MS, Dianell Carter and Johnnie Gaines, both of Louisville; step-daughter, Ruby Dixon of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Paul Haynes of Florissant, MO, and McArthur Haynes of Rock Island, IL; sister, Maurine Griffin of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Talmadge Dawkins of Louisville, and Robert Dawkins of East St. Louis, IL; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
