Mr. Alvin Moody, Jr.

Tuesday, December 28, 2004

Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Moody, Jr. , 73, were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman. Rev. Charles Rhodes officiated. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery in Ackerman.

A native and lifelong resident of the Burnside Community, Mr. Moody was a retired carpenter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of Salem Baptist Church and the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge. Mr. Moody died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Chambliss of Louisville; son, Stennis "Steve" Alvin Moody of Philadelphia; sister, Gladys Lee Sistrunk of Philadelphia; brother, Richard J. Moody of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Keith Doss, Wesley Moody, Reggie Reese, Dr. Randy Reese, Junior Smith, Mack Gilmer, Ryan Gilmer, David Ziething, and Phillip Sistrunk.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners' Children's Hospital.

Rev. Walter Bell Pennington

Funeral services for Rev. Walter Bell Pennington, 81, were held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Griffin United Methodist Church in Starkville, MS. Dr. Earnest Smith officiated. Burial followed in Odd Fellow Cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Rev. Pennington was a retired minister. He was a member of Griffin United Methodist Church in Starkville. Rev. Pennington died Wednesday, December 22, 2004.

Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Pennington of Lawrence, KS; son, Rev. Walter D. Pennington, Jr. , of New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beverly Powell

Funeral service for Mrs. Beverly Powell, 66, were held at 10:00 A. M. Monday, January 3, 2005, at the Porter Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Wayne Hill officiated. Burial followed in Ellison Ridge Cemetery.

A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and secretary for Taylor Machine Works for 18 years. She was educated in Wisconsin and later lived in Los Angeles for 15 years before moving to Louisville in 1976. She was a member of the Louisville Church of Christ. Mrs. Powell died Friday, December 31, 2004, at the Care Center of Louisville.

Survivors include her son, Justin Powell of Starkville, and sister, Barbara Isabell of Decatur, IL.

Mrs. Mary Irene Rushing

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Irene Rushing, 75, were held at 11 A. M. Friday, December 31, 2004, at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman. Rev. Don Savell officiated. Burial followed in Sand Hill Cemetery in Ackerman.

A resident of the Arlington Community of Neshoba County, Mrs. Rushing was a retired sewing machine operator from Wells Lamont in Philadelphia and was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. Mrs. Rushing died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.

Survivors include her husband, A. V. Rushing of Philadelphia; daughter, Brenda Coleman of Philadelphia; two sons, Dewayne Rushing of Louisville and James Rushing of Philadelphia; five sisters, Macie Rushing of Philadelphia, Carolyn Hart of Vancleave, Jean Tarpley of Vancleave, Becky Adams of Vancleave, and Barbara Nelson of Pascagoula; three brothers, Elton Conn of Pearl, Aubrey Conn of Carthage, and Jimmy Conn of Pascagoula; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joey Griffin, Johnny Coleman, Jerry Blount, Rickey Melton, B. J. Pettis, and Brad Stuart.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sylvia S. Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia S. Smith, 77, were held at 3:30 P. M. Friday, December 31, 2004, at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. John Adams officiated. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery.

A native of the Plattsburg Community of Winston County, Mrs. Smith was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Smith of Philadelphia; sister, Edna Johnson of Pearl; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Richard Smith, Jerome Smith, Alex Dees, III, and Joe Smith.

Mr. Henry Smith, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Smith, Jr. , 70, were held at 1:00 P. M. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Ackerman, MS. Rev. Young officiated. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery in Ackerman.

A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Smith was retired. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Ackerman. Mr. Smith died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the Choctaw County Medical Center.

Survivors include his two daughters, Annie Pratt of Ackerman and Barbara Smith of Ackerman; three sons, Eugene Smith, Harold Smith, and Micheal Smith, all of Ackerman; three sisters, Ruthie Gladney of Ackerman, Rachel McCain of Ackerman, and Frankie Smith of Dawagiac, MI; brother, R. C. Smith of Reform, MS; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mildred Thompson

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Thompson, 96, were held at 2:00 P. M. Monday, January 3, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Louisville. Dr. Don Boone officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Smith County, MS, Mrs. Thompson taught English and was a school librarian in Louisville and Noxapater for 46 years. She was educated at MUW and the University of Alabama. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville and the Louisville Pilot Club. Mrs. Thompson died Friday, December 31, 2004, at the Winston Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Robert C. McNeel of Ackerman, and son, Dr. Robert L. Thompson of Chapel Hill, NC, along with four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

Mrs. Essie Pearl Tindoll

Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Pearl Tindoll, 94, were held at 10:00 A. M. Friday, December 31, 2004, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona. Rev. Jimmy Latham officiated. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS.

A resident of Kilmichael, Mrs. Tindoll was a homemaker. She was a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church. Mrs. Tindoll died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Survivors include her daughters, Mildred Osborn of Kilmichael and Carolyn J. Hisaw of Louisville; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Beck, Brent Brawley, Bryan Lott, Wayne Beckwith, Colby Bridges, and Randall Beckwith. Honorary Pallbearers were Brooks Lott, Bailey Lott, Brett Bridges, Bryce Davis, Nathan Brawley, Logan Beckwith, Lane Beckwith, and Samson Beck.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral services for Mr. Lance DeRome Triplett, 49, were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, January 2, 2005, at Beck Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Martha Williams officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Triplett was a laborer. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church of Louisville and a US Army veteran. Mr. Triplett died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at the Baptist Medical Center in Columbus, MS.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Hannah Triplett; two daughters, Tina Tenekia Hannah and Tasha LaTrice Hannah, both of Louisville; four sons, Lawrence Terrell Whitfield of Gulfport, MS, Rodrequez Andrea Hannah, Willie Ball, and Dontavious Deonte DeRome Triplett, all of Louisville; two sisters, Shirley Ann Wraggs and Dorothy Ann Triplett, both of Louisville; three brothers, Levi Triplett, William Tony Triplett, and Gary Triplett, all of Louisville; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Annie Marteen Newcomb-Edmond

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Marteen Newcomb-Edmond, 73, were held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at St. John Primary Baptist Church in De Kalb, MS. Elder Greg Watkins officiated. Burial followed in St. John Primary Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Philadelphia, Mrs. Newcomb-Edmond was a health care professional and technical employee with Textile Processors Service Trades as well as John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member of Second Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and later of Saint John Primary Baptist Church in De Kalb. Mrs. Newcomb-Edmond died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian.

Survivors include her three sisters, Gladys Stewart-Mitchell of De Kalb, Pinkie Newcomb of Cleveland, Ohio, and Margaret Seals of Inkater, Michigan.

Mr. Jimmy Walter McFarland

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Walter McFarland, 59, were held at 3 p. m. , Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Pleasant Ridge M. B. Church in Noxapater. Rev. Joe B. Glass officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Noxapater, Mr. McFarland was a laborer. He was also a member of Pleasant Ridge M. B. Church.

Mr. McFarland died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Doris McFarland; his mother, Sally Prince; three daughter, Jennifer Lynch of Noxapater, Kim McFarland of Collinsville, and Chassidy Macon of Louisville; four step-daughters, Diane Worthy, Deborah Loving, Stephanie Spells, and Brenda Spells; four sons, Marcus McFarland of Louisville, Takei McFarland of Louisville, Nelson McFarland of Collinsville, and Keith McFarland of Collinsville; one step-son, Albert T. Worthy, Jr. ; two brothers, John Edwards of Louisville and James Prince of Macon; 15 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Miss LaChandra Michelle Moore

Funeral services for Miss LaChandra Michelle Moore, 32, were held at 2 p. m. , Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. David Harris officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A native of Noxapater, Miss Moore was a homemaker.

Miss Moore died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Survivors include her father, LeeAnder Moore of Louisville; her mother and step-father, Rosie Ivey and Chester Ivey of McDonough, Ga; three sons, Isaac, Nigel, and Ameer Stringfellow of Louisville; two brothers, Christopher Burnside of Moss Point and Reggie Moore of Louisville; paternal grandmother, Inell Moore of Louisville; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Haynes was a laborer.

Mr. Haynes died Monday, March 12, 2007 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include four daughters, Belinda, Rochelle, Barbara, and Kristy; eight sons, MacArthur, Randy, M. C. , Charles, Douglas, Tony, Demondes, and Brain; five sisters, Odia, Pearl, Clara, Lodia, Dora, and Hilda; five brothers, Less, Claude, Henry Earl, James, and Thomas; 30 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
