Infant Justin Tyler Adams

Graveside services for infant Justin Tyler Adams were held at 2 p. m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Ebenezer Cemetery in Choctaw County.

Justin died shortly after birth at the Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

Survivors include his parents, Jonathan Wayne and Gina Deann McDonald Adams of Ackerman; paternal grandparents, David and Jane Adams of Grenada and Jerry and Tara Parker of Grenada; maternal grandparents, Tersia and Shelby Smith of Ackerman; aunts, Crystal McDonald, Tiffany McDonald, and Kayla Robinson of Ackerman; uncle, David Adams, Jr. , of Grenada; cousins, Summer McDonald, Tina Parker, Kristofer Parker, and Ashton Parker; and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Tedford of Grenada.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rosemary Juel Boyd Hood

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosemary Juel Boyd Hood, 93, were held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Starkville. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg at 11:00 a. m. Friday, March 16, 2007.

A native of Magee, MS, Mrs. Hood was a graduate of Clark College and Draughn's Business School and was employed by the Retail Credit Company of Jackson. She later worked as a clerk and chief office deputy for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. In 1941, she married B. S. Hood, a young officer with the newly organized Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, and the couple moved first to Hattiesburg, then to Grenada, and finally to Louisville. In 1964, the Hoods moved to Starkville as her husband had been employed by Mississippi State University to organize and head the MSU Police Department. Mrs. Hood was an active member of the First Baptist Churches of Louisville and Starkville as a member of the choir and various vocal ensembles, a Sunday School teacher, and a leader in the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member and Past Matron of Louisville Chapter No. 66 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Elizabeth Chapter No. 73 (Starkville) of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hood died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Oktibbeha County Hospital.

Survivors include her children, Dr. B. S. "Bill" Hood of Starkville, Fred Hood of Pontotoc, and Candy Hood Gordon of Sheridan, Oregon; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Starkville and to the Mississippi Baptist Children's Village.

Mrs. Frances Miley

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Miley, 84, were held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Arthur Story officiated. Burial followed in the Masonic Cemetery.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Miley was a retired postal employee. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star. She served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. Mrs. Miley died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Ray Miley of Louisville; and three daughters, Mary Gershwin of Atlanta, GA, Pam Miley of Germantown, TN, and Fran Miley of Cordova, TN.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Louisville or Eastern Star.

Nowell Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Edgar Joshua "E.J." Fryery

Funeral services for Mr. Edgar Joshua "E.J." Fryery, 91, were held at 10:30 a. m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Billy Bowie officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Neshoba County, Mr. Fryery retired from the railroad after 38 years of dedicated service as a fireman and locomotive engineer. He was a member of Dancing Rabbit Hunting Club for many years and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville where he served as a deacon. Mr. Fryery died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Willene Young Fryery; two sons, Bill Fryery of Louisville and Bobby Fryery of Meridian; one daughter, Darlene Bane of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Coker Fryery, Watson Fryery, Jeremy Hill, E. J. Bane, Patrick Bane, Johnny Young, Mike Parker, and Wayne Green.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Leala Harris

Funeral services for Mrs. Leala Harris, 93, were held at 1 p. m. , Monday, March 19, 2007 at Center Hill Church of God in Christ in Louisville. Rev. Jimmy Reed officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Harris was a homemaker. She was also a member of Center Hill Church of God in Christ in Louisville.

Mrs. Harris died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Care Center of Louisville.

Survivors include three daughters, Sadie Moncrief of Louisville, Mary Alma Mitchell of Milwaukee, WI, and Doris Jean Jordan of Louisville; one son, J. L. Harris of Louisville; 60 grandchildren; 215 great grandchildren; 48 great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dan Melvin Griffin

Funeral services for Mr. Dan Melvin Griffin, 71, were held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus. Bro. Rob Faulk officiated.

A native of Mathiston, Mr. Griffin served in the U. S. Air Force and later was employed as a used auto dealer and with Georgia Pacific Corp. as an electrician for 25 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #75 in Louisville and of South Louisville Baptist Church in Louisville. Mr. Griffin died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital GT in Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Griffin of Louisville; daughters, Lana Williams of Houston, MS, and Shelia Johnson of Mathiston, MS; step-children, Roy K. Carley of Columbus, Bradley R. Carley of Columbus, Bobbie Ann Souza of Yuba City, CA, Dorothy Watson of Caledonia, MS, Betty Nell Ott of Jackson, MS, Robbie Thornton of Florence , MS, Debbie Hawkins of Florence, MS, Shelia Moore of Jackson, MS, and Teresa Kent of Sturgis, MS; one sister, Gaynell Reeves of Hitchcock, TX; one brother, Harry V. Griffin of Mathiston, MS; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 26 step-grandchildren, and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Allen Carley, Scot Carley, Tony Carley, Randy Barber, Danny Ott, and Jeremy Swain. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Souza, Ira Ott, and Bill Robinson.

Lowndes Funeral Home of Columbus was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cecil C. Clement

Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil C. Clement, 92, 10 a. m. , Monday, March 19, 2007 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Graveside services were held at 2 p. m. , Monday, March 19, 2007 at Noxapater Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native Noxapater, Mrs. Clement was a graduate of Noxapater High School and attended MSCW. She was a charter member of Wesley Methodist church where she participated in many activities including U. M. W. and Eastern Star. Since it inception she has been a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church. Mrs. Clement will be remembered as a woman of strong faith, great determination, fierce loyalty to family and friends, and her delightful sense of humor. She was also retired from the Admissions Department at the University Medical Center.

Mrs. Clement died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her home.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra C. Richardson (Bill) of Arlington, TX; one son, Bill Clement (Hallie) of Jackson; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 7427 Old Canton Road, Madison, MS 39110; Noxapater Methodist Church, P. O. Box 282, Noxapater, MS 39346, or Palmer Home for Children, P. O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703.

Mrs. Pauline Arnold Gammill

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Arnold Gammill, 73, were held at 2 p. m. , Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. Granville Wiggins, Rev. Jeff Davis, and Rev. Carlos Clark officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Nebo Methodist Cemetery near Ackerman.

A resident of Sturgis, Mrs. Gammill was a homemaker. She was also a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.

Mrs. Gammill died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Gammill of Sturgis; three sons, Donald Arnold of Greenwood, Darrell Gammill of Starkville, and David Gammill of Sturgis; two daughters, Tonya Avent of Maben and Diane Bowie of Ackerman; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Nebo Cemetery Fund C/O Kenneth Perry of Ackerman.

Master Marquist Teron Edmond

Funeral services for Master Marquist Teron Edmond, 14, were held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Calvary Apostolic Church in Louisville. Elder James A. Young officiated.

A native of Louisville, Master Edmond previously attended Calvary Apostolic Church where he served as drummer and attended school in the Louisville Municipal School District. He also played the drums for Voices of Faith Choir and Still Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Master Edmond later transferred to La Tier in Los Angeles, California where he attended Latijera Middle School and Inglewood High in Inglewood, California as well as United Fellowship Church. Master Edmond died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, in California County Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Billy and Diane Edmond; four sisters, Dimetrius Bragg, Sherita Rush, LaQuita Edmond, and Dineshia Edmond; one brother, Markevious Edmond; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Hampton Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna Earl Jackson

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Earl Jackson, 78, were held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, December 4, 2006, at John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in Philadelphia. Dr. Dan Howard and Rev. Don Caviness officiated. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.

A resident of Philadelphia, Mrs. Jackson was a teacher in the Neshoba County School System. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary as well as First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Jackson died Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Neshoba County Nursing Home.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Otha Dill "O. D. " Jackson of Philadelphia; son Willie Jackson of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gary Hillman, Bryant Jackson, Hugh Thomasson, Craig Brown, Kip Herrington, Harlan Majure, Greg Jackson, and Steve Emerson.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy Greer

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Greer, 63, were held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. Dr. B. M. Pittman officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Greer was a retired teacher in Louisville Public Schools. She was also a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. Mrs. Greer died Monday, December 4, 2006, at the University Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include her son, Josh Mitchell of Louisville; two sisters, Princess Latham of Louisville and Easter Everett of Davenport, IA; one brother, Woodrow Latham of Davenport, IA; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Lessie Antonette Cook Mason

Funeral services for Mrs. Lessie Antonette Cook Mason, 83, were held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, December 7 at Betheden Lutheran Church in Winston County. Burial followed in the Betheden Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Mason was retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department where she served as a secretary for 30 years. Mrs. Mason died Monday, December 4, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Survivors include her brother, Thomas D. Cook of Starkville, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
