Mrs. Tressie H. Burchfield

Funeral services for Mrs. Tressie H. Burchfield, 96, were held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. George Buell officiated. Burial followed in Milligan Springs Cemetery in Montgomery County, MS.

A resident of Tupelo, Mrs. Burchfield was a homemaker and housewife. She was a member of South Union Methodist Church. She was a former resident of Ackerman and was living with her son in Tupelo. Mrs. Burchfield died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare of Tupelo.

Survivors include her son, James C. Burchfield of Tupelo, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to South Union Methodist Church or French Camp Academy.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hilda Hall Eaves

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Hall Eaves, 79, were held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, January 6, 2005, at the Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Jimmy Porter officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Eaves was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. Mrs. Eaves died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Survivors include her husband, James Junior Eaves of Louisville; four sons, Ronald S. Eaves of Philadelphia, Johnny Frank Eaves of Hot Springs, AR, Charles Donald Eaves of Senatobia, MS, and Vance Eaves of Louisville; two sisters, Hixie Clark of Louisville and Helen Deweese of Sacramento, CA; three brothers, William D. Hall of Nashville, TN, Frank T. Hall of Laurel, MS, and Murray Hall of Louisville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lyle Eaves, Dermis Foster, Robert Eaves, Quay Eaves, Justin Eaves, and Wayne Clark.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

Nowell Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. J. C. Higginbotham

J. C. Higginbotham, age 82, of Canton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning December 28, 2004. He was born November 13, 1992, in De Kalb, Mississippi, to the late Benjamin and Ada Higginbotham. He worked in the CCC Camps then entered the Marines in 1940, and during WWII he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations and participated in action at Guadal Canal BSI, Tarawa Atoll, Saipan, and Tinian, MI. He went to school under the GI Bill studying farming and moved to Hartville in 1950. He retired from Monarch Rubber Co. in 1981 after over 30 years of service. J. C. was a member of the Hartville Apostolic Gospel Church where he was one of the first officers. He loved gardening with his family. Proceeded in death by four brothers, he is survived by his wife of 57 and a half years, Helen; daughter, Glenda Sellers of Hartsville, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Tina Higginbotham of Dover; three grandchildren, Kirsten and Carlos Chavez of SC, Donald II and Liz Sellers of Canton, and Katrina Danielson of Dover; two great-grandchildren, Trenton and Nicolas Chavez; sister and brother-in-law, Ada and Al Akers of MI; brothers and sisters-in-law, R. T. and Kathryn Higginbotham of MS, and Benny, Jr. , and Mary Higginbotham of AL. Friends may call two hours prior to services Thursday, December 30th, 12:00 P. M. to 2:00 P. M. in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 2:00 P. M. December 30th with Minister Anthony Zupancic officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Pope

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Pope, 70, were held at 3:00 P. M. Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at the Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Tommy Murphy officiated. Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Noxapater.

A resident of Noxapater, Mrs. Pope was retired from the Spartus Corporation. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Noxapater. Mrs. Pope died Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Riley Hospital in Meridian.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Pope Hillhouse of Noxapater; sister, Maydelle Smith of Meridian; and one step-grandson.

Pallbearers were Danny Price, Joe Baskin, Bill Baskin, Bob Baskin, Matt Darby, Charlie Rushing, and Wayne Swindle.

Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Alvin Moody, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Moody, Jr. , 73, were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Philadelphia. Rev. Charles Rhodes and Rev. Carl Higginbotham officiated. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery in Philadelphia

A native and lifelong resident of the Burnside Community, Mr. Moody was a retired carpenter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of Salem Baptist Church and the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge. Mr. Moody died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Chambliss of Louisville; son, Stennis "Steve" Alvin Moody of Philadelphia; sister, Gladys Lee Sistrunk of Philadelphia; brother, Richard J. Moody of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Keith Doss, Wesley Moody, Reggie Reese, Dr. Randy Reese, Junior Smith, Mack Gilmer, Ryan Gilmer, David Ziething, and Phillip Sistrunk.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners' Children's Hospital.

Mrs. Mary Irene Rushing

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Irene Rushing, 75, were held at 11 A. M. Friday, December 31, 2004, at the McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Philadelphia Rev. Don Savell officiated. Burial followed in Sand Hill Cemetery in Ackerman.

A resident of the Arlington Community of Neshoba County, Mrs. Rushing was a retired sewing machine operator from Wells Lamont in Philadelphia and was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. Mrs. Rushing died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.

Survivors include her husband, A. V. Rushing of Philadelphia; daughter, Brenda Coleman of Philadelphia; two sons, Dewayne Rushing of Louisville and James Rushing of Philadelphia; five sisters, Macie Rushing of Philadelphia, Carolyn Hart of Vancleave, Jean Tarpley of Vancleave, Becky Adams of Vancleave, and Barbara Nelson of Pascagoula; three brothers, Elton Conn of Pearl, Aubrey Conn of Carthage, and Jimmy Conn of Pascagoula; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joey Griffin, Johnny Coleman, Jerry Blount, Rickey Melton, B. J. Pettis, and Brad Stuart.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jay Thaniel Haynes

Funeral services for Mr. Jay Thaniel Haynes, 94, were held at 1 p. m. Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Louisville. The Rev. Roby Collier officiated. Burial followed in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Haynes was a farmer. He was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Mr. Haynes died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at his home in Louisville.

Survivors include five sons, Sylvester Haynes, Almetis Haynes, Kendrick M. Haynes and Earl Haynes, all of Moss Point, and Charles Haynes of Louisville; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Charles Wesley Bouchillon, Ph. D.

Funeral services for Charles Wesley Bouchillon, Ph. D. , 73, were held at 10 a. m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Starkville.

A native of Louisville and resident of Starkville, Mr. Bouchillon was a retired professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mississippi State University. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War.

Mr. Bouchillon graduated from Louisville High School as Student of the Year in 1949 and graduated from Mississippi State College in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Following his service in the military, Mr. Bouchillon earned his master's degree and doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He began his career at MSU in 1962 as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and also worked in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. While a professor of mechanical engineering, Mr. Bouchillon worked with the NASA Research Center during the 1960s and 1970s. He was a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education and the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry. Mr. Bouchillon retired from MSU in 1995.

Outside of his career at MSU, Mr. Bouchillon was an entrepreneur, beginning with consulting at Combustion Engineering Bauer, from which he became a founding partner in FluidQuip, Inc. of Springfield, Ohio. He also received several patents for his work in fluid separation technology.

Mr. Bouchillon was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was active on numerous boards and committees. He was a member of Men for the Master, a non-denominational men's choir, the local Lion's Club, the Starkville Emmaus Community and a close, lifelong group of friends known as the SCARS. Mr. Bouchillon died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

Survivors include one daughter, Leslie Bouchillon Salzmann of Birmingham, Ala. ; three sons, C. Ruston Bouchillon of Starkville, M. Scott Bouchillon of Alpharetta, Ga. , and David D. Bouchillon of Atlanta, Ga. ; two sisters, Maxine Milam of Curtis Station and Hettie Burnett of Batesville; one brother, Milton Bouchillon of Louisville and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wesley Foundation at Mississippi State University, P. O. Drawer MY, MSU, MS 39762.

Mr. Willie Doss Clark

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Doss Clark, 63, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. The Rev. R. D. Harris officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Clark was a laborer. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Clark died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include one son, Larry Clark of Chicago; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren and his fiancée, Louise Triplett.

Mr. Troy E. Goodin

Funeral services for Mr. Troy E. Goodin, 60, were held at 1 p. m. Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at First Pentecostal Church in House. The Rev. Barry Fulton and the Rev. Arrie Fulton officiated. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

A resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Goodin retired from Irby Construction after 30 years of service. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of House, the National Rifle Association and AARP. Mr. Goodin died Monday, September 13, 2004 at his home in Philadelphia.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Goodin of Philadelphia; two daughters, Beverly Cumberland and Debbie McAdory, both of Philadelphia; one son, David Troy Goodin of Philadelphia; one stepson, Larry McCullough of Collinsville; one sister, Mary Lunn Farves of Philadelphia; three brothers, Clark Goodin and Willard Goodin, both of Noxapater, and Clyde Goodin of New Orleans, La. ; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ken Mitchell, Billy Hardy, Dale Fulton, Dustin Howard, Lige Fulton and Glendale Watkins.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shirley Ruth Channell

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ruth Channell, 55, were held at 2 p. m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman. The Rev. Jimmy Flake and the Rev. Gary Jackson officiated. Burial followed in Bethsadia Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Choctaw County and resident of Ackerman, Mrs. Channell was a manager for B-Quik stores. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Channell died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at her home in Ackerman.

Survivors include her husband, R. M. "Buddy" Channell of Ackerman; two sons, Robert Channell and John Channell, both of Ackerman; her mother, Betty Ruth Armstrong of Ackerman; two brothers, Arkell Armstrong of Grenada and Eddie Armstrong of Kilmichael; two stepbrothers, Gibby Mullins of Kilmichael and Keith Mullins of Winona; four stepsisters, Connie Greenlee of Kilmichael, Daphne Armstrong of Grenada, Gild Morrison of Tuscaloosa, Ala. , and Natalie Burks of Jackson and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Maude Denton Saxton Fanning

Funeral services for Mrs. Maude Denton Saxton Fanning, 105, were held at 11 a. m. Saturday, October 18, 2004 at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Dr. Leroy Brewer officiated. Burial followed in Newton Masonic Cemetery.

A native of Newton County and resident of Newton, Mrs. Fanning was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newton and managed Foster's Department Store in Newton until her retirement. Mrs. Fanning died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Hilltop Manor in Union.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Simmons of Newton and Betty Lawrence of Louisville; one son, Curtis Saxton of Meridian; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren and four great great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Keith Lawrence, Kenny Lawrence, Ronald Wayne Blacklidge, Brittany Blacklidge, Trippy Saxton and Ken Paternostro.

Memorial may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
