Mr. Shirl E. "Bud" Hartle

Funeral services for Mr. Shirl E. "Bud" Hartle, 72, were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia. Rev. Gene Higginbotham officiated. Burial followed in Longino Cemetery in Philadelphia.

A native of Butler, PA, Mr. Hartle was a supervisor for Packard and a member of the American Legion Henry H. Graves Post No. 1 and 82 Army Airborne. Mr. Hartle died Monday, February 27, 2006, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Yates Hartle of Byram, MS; one son, Randy Ponder of Jackson, MS; one daughter, Teresa Howard of McComb, MS; two brothers, Jim Hartle and Frank Hartle of Warren, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Grover Cleveland Oswalt

Funeral services for Mr. Grover Cleveland Oswalt, 66, were held at 2:30 P. M. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Rev. Bob Mamrak officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Airy Methodist Cemetery near Ackerman.

A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Oswalt was self-employed. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Mr. Oswalt died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at his residence near Ackerman.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel R. Oswalt of Ackerman; two daughters, Darlene Cox and Gail Martin, both of Ackerman; one brother, Paul Oswalt of Weir, MS; four sisters, Ruth Gazaway of Sturgis, Mary Higgins of Weir, Wilma Seawright of Weir, and Bonnie Sledge of Weir; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Mt. Airy Methodist Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 634, Ackerman, MS 39735.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Betty Morris Connell

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Morris Connell, 73, were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. Randle Poss officiated. Burial followed in Providence Baptist Cemetery near Ackerman.

A native of Choctaw County, Mrs. Connell was disabled and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Connell died Friday, March 3, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.

Survivors include her son, Phillip Connell of Ackerman; one daughter, Rita C. Hinton of Columbus; one sister, Ruby Marshall of Iuka, MS; and four grandchildren.

Family suggests memorials to Providence Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Ms. Oma Mae Fuller

Funeral services for Ms. Oma Mae Fuller, 87, were held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at New Haven Baptist Church near Weir. Rev. Jim Ballard and Rev. Jerry Lawson officiated. Burial followed in New Haven Baptist Cemetery near Weir.

A native of Arkansas and resident of Ackerman, Ms. Fuller was a homemaker and was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman. Ms. Fuller died Friday, March 3, 2006, in Ackerman, MS.

Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Jenkins of Weir.

Family suggests memorials to New Haven Baptist Church, 6690 Stewart-Weir Road, Weir, MS 39772.

Mrs. Gladys Irene Parker Robbins

Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Irene Parker Robbins, 84, were held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Philadelphia. Rev. Franklin Smith and Rev. Lin Chesney officiated. Burial followed in Indian Springs Cemetery in Winston County.

A native of Alabama and lifetime resident of Neshoba and Winston Counties, Mrs. Robbins was retired from Wells-Lamont Glove Factory. She was a member of Indian Springs Assembly of God Church in Winston County. Mrs. Robbins died Friday, March 3, 2006, at her home in Philadelphia.

Survivors include her four daughters, Hazel Collins of Noxapater, Brenda Gentry of Carrollton, AL, Sandra Leach of Jackson, MS, and Teresea Thrasher of Jackson, MS; two sons, Dave Parker of Noxapater and Keith Parker of Philadelphia; six sisters, Nora Drury of Noxapater, Doris Higginbotham of Houston, Marie Blount of Jackson, Mary Pitman of Jackson, Dotsy Thomas of Jackson, and Jewel Johnson of Maryville, TN; 32 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wade Collins, Jason Gentry, Charlie Gentry, Clay Jenkins, Steve Parker, and Daniel Parker.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William C. Long, Sr.

Saturday, March 4, 2006

Funeral services for Mr. William C. Long, Sr. , 77, were held at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. George Buell and Rev. Jim Pender officiated. Burial followed in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery near Ackerman.

A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Long was a truck driver and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Ackerman. He also served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Long died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Monfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Epps Long of Ackerman; one son, Bill Long, Jr. , of Ackerman; one daughter, Diane Atkinson of Weir, MS; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Louise Austin Triplett

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Austin Triplett, 96, were held at 11:00 A. M. March 11, 2006 at Williams and Herring Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Jerry Lee officiated. Burial followed in Union Chapel Cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Attala County, Mrs. Triplett was a retired domestic worker. Mrs. Triplett died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the Care Center in Louisville.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Williams and Herring Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Lou Miles

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Miles, 83, were held at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. George Buell officiated. Burial followed in Salem Independent Methodist Church Cemetery near Ackerman.

A native of Quitman County, Mrs. Miles was a retired teacher and a member of Ackerman United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miles died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman.

Survivors include her brother, Delbert H. Miles of Gardendale, Alabama, two nephews and one niece.

Memorials may be made to Ackerman United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Inez B. Pearson

Memorial services for Mrs. Inez B. Pearson, 84, will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Latter-Day Saints Church on Ridge Road in Columbus, MS. Burial will precede at Whitehall Church in Louisville.

A native of New Albany, Mrs. Pearson and her husband ran Foot's Service Station in Columbus. She also worked as a manager of several dinner clubs, was a regional manager for Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and owned a children's clothing store in downtown Columbus with her sister for several years. She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and she and her husband were among the first members of the Columbus Riding Club. Mrs. Pearson died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Gainesville, Missouri, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Survivors include her two sons, William "Billy" Pearson and Robert "Bobby" Pearson; daughter, Judy Jameson, sister, Tommie Walter; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Miss Donna Ellen Cunningham

Donna Ellen Cunningham, 58, died Thursday June 8, at her home in Louisville.

Memorial Services were held Sunday June 11, at 3 PM at First Baptist Church.

Miss Cunningham was the daughter of Lamont and Ava Merle Boyles Cunningham. She was a graduate of MSCW, and was a teacher in the public and private schools. Her most recent years teaching were spent at Grace Christian School in Louisville, where she served as headmaster and teacher for 10 years. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sisters, Lynne Cunningham, and Carol Mitchell, and Carol's husband, John, four nephews and their families, David and Carmen Mitchell, Mark and Luann Mitchell, Stephen Mitchell, and Matthew and Jenna Mitchell, and nine great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, PO box 82, Louisville, MS 39339.

Mr. Terry Scott "Ted" Murphy

Funeral services for Mr. Terry Scott "Ted" Murphy, 41 were held on Saturday, June 10, 2006 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Rev. Danny Irvin officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.

A resident of Ackerman, Mr. Murphy died June 7, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, Ms.

Survivors include Brooke Murphy, Madison Murphy, Payton Murphy, and Taylor Murphy - all daughters of Mr. Murphy. Also, Mr. Murphy's brothers - Brad Murphy and Ken Murphy.

Pallbearers were Monty Griffin, Barry Joe Miller, Ricky Woods, Tony Fulgham, Dan Blake, Richard Holder, and Carl "Barney" Phelps.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Inez Fuller Ball Rogers

Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Fuller Ball Rogers, 76, were held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville.

Rev. Wayne Sanders and Bro. Mike Fuller officiated. Burial followed in 16th Section Cemetery in Louisville.

A resident of Louisville, Mrs. Rogers was a retired dietician from the Winston County Hospital. She was also a member of Singleton Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rogers died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, Ms.

Survivors include daughter Patti and her husband Rex Blair of Louisville; son, Steve and his wife Maria Ball of Louisville; sisters, Ilene Estes, Imogene Flake, and Ann Robertson of Cayman Islands; brother, Leon Fuller of Louisville; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to 16th Section Cemetery

Mrs. Alice Haggard

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Haggard, 98 were held on Monday, June 12, 2006 at 11 a. m. in the Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville. Rev. Wayne Sanders officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Caramel Cemetery in Noxapater.

A resident of Noxapater, Mrs. Haggard died June 10, 2006 at Vaiden Community Center in Vaiden She was born July 29, 1908 and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Noxapater Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Patty Sullivan of Mobile, AL, Reba DeVeny of Batesville, Sara Ballard of Grenada; two sons, Billy Haggard and Jimmy Gayle Haggard both of Noxapater; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ricky Haggard, Ty Pitman, Patrick Ballard, Michael Sheffield, Wesley McAdory, Kyle Haggard, Ryan Haggard, and Brody Horn.

Memorials may be made to Noxapater Baptist Church.

Nowell Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.
