He was a World War II Army veteran, a National Guard veteran and a member of the American Legion and Ripley Civitan Club. Mr. Horton, the husband of Hilda Akins Horton, also leaves two daughters, Chris Grisham and Mary Lynn Carter; a son, Loyd Ellis Horton III, and two sisters, Otelia West and Patricia Sanford, all of Ripley, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
