VANCILEE YANCEY MULDER, 70, of Memphis, homemaker, died Sept. 26 at Methodist Healthcare-Germantown. Services were held Sept. 29 at Family Funeral Care Summer Avenue Chapel with burial in Cairo Cemetery in Alamo, Tenn. She was an Episcopalian. Mrs. Mulder, the widow of Barney Leland Mulder, leaves five daughters, Connie Blakley of New York, Dremeda Cook and Linda Price, both of Memphis, Patricia Drewery of Olive Branch and Marilyn Schuetrumpf of Brighton; four sons, Ray Crosby of Memphis, James Mulder of Brighton, Danny Mulder of Hope, Ark., and Ronald Mulder of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Virginia Lois Moore of Hernando, 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Lung Association.

BILLY GERALD NETTLES, 65, of Olive Branch, retired Memphis firefighter, died Sept. 27 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. Services were held Sept. 30 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven with burial in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens there. He was a member of the National Guard, Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven, Salem (Ark.) Church of Christ, Memphis Retired Fire Fighters Association and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1784. Mr. Nettles, the husband of Hazel Nettles for 44 years, also leaves a son, Tim Nettles of Starkville; his mother, Mary Goin-Nettles of Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister, Norma McElroy of Blytheville, Ark.; a brother, Jim Nettles of Little Rock, and two grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Arthritis Foundation.

HOWARD PAYNE, 79, of Hernando, dairyman, died Sept. 27 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. Services were held Oct. 4 at Henderson Funeral Home of Hernando with burial in Greenview Cemetery in Nesbit. Mr. Payne, the widower of Mattie Payne, leaves two sisters, Irma Jones and Ruby Lester, and a brother, Sammuel Payne, all of Memphis.

JAMES ANDREW PHILPOT, 50, of Hernando, music industry salesman, died Sept. 27 in Memphis. Services were held Sept. 30 at Hernando Baptist Church with burial in Hernando Memorial Park. Hernando Funeral Home had charge. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lee of Memphis and Sierra Renee Philpot of Brandon, S.D.; two sons, James Andrew Philpot II and Pearson Tyler Philpot, both of Brandon; his parents, Dr. James Cecil and Eva Joann Philpot, and a sister, Cinidi Porter, all of Hernando, and a brother, Paul Philpot of Hattiesburg.

GEORGE REED, 81, of Southaven, retired chiropractor and owner of Reed’s Health Food, died Sept. 27 at his home. Graveside services were held Sept. 30 at Palmer Baptist Church Cemetery in Ripley. Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven had charge. He was a World War II Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Reed, the widower of Maxine Reed, leaves a sister, Rubena Clark of Memphis, and two brothers, Raymond Reed of Arcadia, Calif., and Charles Gene Reed of Gunter, Texas. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

RALPH H. ‘PETE’ SMITH, 85, of Portageville, Mo., formerly of Blytheville, Ark., retired Portageville police officer and truck driver, died Sept. 25 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Services were held Sept. 29 at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with burial in Portageville Cemetery. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He leaves three daughters, Kay Smith of Lamar, Miss., Charlotte Massie of Memphis and Claudie Anthony of Mississippi; six sons, Wayne Smith of West Memphis, Mike Smith of Olive Branch, Charles Smith of Memphis, Donald Smith of Atoka, Dale Smith of Horn Lake and James Alexander Smith of Mississippi; three sisters, Dorothy Adams of Mississippi, and Wanda York and Wilma Malugen, both of Chicago, and 23 grandchildren.

DOROTHY JUANITA COWELL SNYDER, 69, of Memphis, homemaker, died Sept. 28 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services were held Oct. 2 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. She was a librarian and Sunday school teacher of Cherokee Baptist Church, member of PTA, Women’s Mission Union and Southern Baptist Convention. Mrs. Snyder leaves her husband, James K. Snyder; two daughters, Vivian Diane Sample of Collierville and Katrina Renee Randle of Horn Lake; a son, Ken Snyder Jr. of Olive Branch; a sister, Maxine McGuire of Oxford, and six grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Cherokee Baptist Church.

Services were held Sept. 26 at Bartlett Funeral Home with burial in Glenfield Cemetery in New Albany. Mrs. Taylor, the widow of C. E. Taylor, leaves a daughter, Cheryl Jacoby of Nesbit; a sons, William Taylor of Crozet, Va.; three sisters, Marquetta Simmons of Bristol, Tenn., and Violet Cline and Dawna Grover, both of Springfield, and two grandchildren.

BEATRICE ‘MOMA BEA’ HILL WALTON, 93, of Memphis, homemaker, died Sept. 29 at Methodist Healthcare-South. Services were held Oct. 4 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven with burial in the church cemetery. N. J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home had charge. She was a Mother’s Board member at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven. Mrs. Walton, the widow of Joe Walton, leaves a daughter, Inez Lester of Nesbit, two granddaughters who cared for her, Alma Hill Moore of Horn Lake and Gloria Griffin of Memphis, 15 other grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Busby leaves her husband, Charles Busby; two sons, Jimmy Lee Yancey and Charles Busby Jr., both of Olive Branch; a sister, Doris Allison of Memphis; two brothers, Lendin Medlin and Junior Yansey, both of Tate County, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Cawthorn, the widow of Vernon Cawthorn, leaves three daughters, Sandra Weaver of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Wilburn of Slayden, Tenn., and Judy Green of Hickory Flat; two sons, Lester Foreman of Olive Branch and James Cawthorn of Hickory Flat; six sisters, Cladis Barr of Hickory Flat, Ruby Rollins of Dorsey, Rose Russell, Lottie Hubb and Dottie Ferguson, all of New Albany, and Linda Crump of Myrtle; four brothers, R. J. Kiddy of Ripley, John Kiddy of Hickory Flat, Jack Kiddy of Myrtle and Bud Kiddy of New Albany, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Damare, the widow of Joseph Rene Damare, leaves a daughter, Rosann Damare Beach of Tunica; a son, William Joseph Damare of Hernando; a sister, Dorothy T. Bailey of Shreveport, La.; a brother, Ed Taylor of Baton Rouge, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM C. DUREN, 59, of Byhalia, died Jan. 20 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. Services were held Jan. 22 at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with burial in Autumn Woods Cemetery. He was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Mr. Duren leaves his wife, Elizabeth Burns Duren; a daughter, Amy Duren-Poyner of Longmont, Colo.; a son, Will Duren of Byhalia; his mother, Catherine Duren, and a sister, Loma Duren, both of Horn Lake, and a grandson. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Doss, and a sister, Lucy Jones, both of Southaven, 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gammel, the widow of Herbert Thomas Gammel, leaves a daughter, Rhonda Ramey of Horn Lake; a son, Ronald Dickerson of Hernando; two sisters, Mildred Bishop of Oxford and Lorene Harrington of Hickory Flat; a brother, Edward Bradley of Senatobia, five stepchildren, seven grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mrs. Klyce, the widow of William Klyce, leaves five daughters, Olivia Powers of Hernando, and Dorothy Williams, Edna Klyce, Alberta Walker and Allie Klyce, all of Chicago; three sons, Stylant Klyce of Memphis, and Robert Klyce and James Edward Klyce, both of Hernando, 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Logan leaves his wife, Mary L. Logan; four daughters, Lucille Gales of Nesbit, Erma Wilson of Memphis, Robbie Logan of Southaven and Annette Bowen of Hernando; two sons, Richard Dennis and Buster Logan Jr., both of Hernando; five sisters, Lillie M. Woods and Vera Alexander, both of Hernando, and Ida Hassell, Josephine Brownlie and Bertha Taylor, all of Memphis; three brothers, Hudson Logan of Memphis, and J. D. Logan and Julius Logan, both of Hernando, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
