She was a member of Southaven First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Oakwell Lodge 265 and the American Legion Post 51. Mrs. Lyle, the widow of Ernest Gilbert Lyle, leaves three sisters, Shalar Moore of Amory, Gloria F. Jones of Tupelo and Laura N. Hubbard of Southaven, and three brothers, Stanley Underwood and Joe Wayne Underwood, both of Fulton, and Buddy James Underwood of Guntown

Walnut -- Vernice Cutbirth Martindale, 88, retired seamstress for McGregor Manufacturing Co., died Wednesday at Beverly Healthcare in Ripley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McBride Funeral Home in Ripley with burial in New Salem cemetery in Walnut. She was a member of Tiplersville Church of Christ. Mrs. Martindale, the widow of Theron Martindale, leaves a son, Dan Martindale of Bartlett, Tenn.; a sister, Lee Earl McMillin of Memphis, and four brothers, Russell Cutberth of Memphis, Charlie Cutberth and Howard Cutberth, both of Middleton, Tenn., and Bud Cutberth of Walnut.

He leaves four daughters, Fonda Webb of Memphis, Gwenda Brady of Birmingham, Audrey Pride of Indian Trail, N.C., and Beverly Willis of Clarksdale; five sons, Myron Fair and Dewone Fair, both of Memphis, Larry Harris and Michael Booker, both of Clarksdale, and Michael Curtis of Little Rock; nine sisters, Birda Knox, Algora Young and Joyce Whitehead, all of Chicago, Flora Perry and Teasie Burns, both of Alton, Ill., Frances Johnson of Detroit, Vansie Ruffin of Elyria, Ohio, and Lois Bernard and Doris Harrison, both of Memphis; a brother, Marshall Fair of Clarksdale, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Coldwater -- Edward Brown, 72, retired from Protein Technologies and retired Navy veteran, died Friday at his home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hernando Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, the husband of Nita J. Brown, also leaves six daughters, Leigh Ledbetter of Nashville, Kimberly Pittman of Columbus, Neb., Tawny Trimm of Florence, Colo., Kimberly Coleman of Independence, Karen Stewart of Hernando and Debra Morgan of Birmingham; a son, Rex Brown of Huntsville, Ala., 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Mr. Walters, the husband of Sheila Walters, also leaves three daughters, Sandy Olson of Mundelein, Ill., Carol Bjorkman of Chicago and Karen Jackson of Stillman Valley, Ill.; four stepdaughters, Tammy Ligon of Auburn, Wash., Shannon Lodholz of Horn Lake, Linda Hadzima of Chicago and Charlene Rozakis of Rockford, Ill.; a stepson, Royce Lodholz of Horn Lake; three sisters, Charlene Frush of Senatobia, Nellie Miller of Hernando and Nettie Geeslin of Bett, six grandchildren and 13 stepgrandchildren.
