CHARLESTON - MRS. MARY F. 'TAD' MILLER, 82, a former resident of Charleston died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994, in a Knoxville, Tenn. Hospital following a prolonged illness. Mrs Miller and her husband, Clarence E Miller resided in Charleston from 1951 through 1953 and again from 1981 through 1983. She is the sister of the late Mrs. George Payne "Finney" Cossar. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Clarence E. Miller; one daughter, Jane L. Miller; of Tampa Fla.; one son, James H. Miller of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Jane Clark of Knoxville and two grandsons. Services for Mrs. Miller were held Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Highland Holly Hills Funeral Home in Knoxville with the Rev. Rich Elseroad officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were George Payne Cossar Jr., James Miller, Joel Miller, John Clark, John Finney and Heath Ponder.

CHARLESTON - EMMA LOUISE BOOKER WILLIAMS, 62, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994, at Tallahatchie General Hospital. Mrs. Williams was a bail bondsman and was a dental assistant for 23 years. The funeral was at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. John Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Fox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Juliet Booker of Chicago; three sons, Gene Booker, Mack Earl Booker, and Jerell Booker all of Charleston; a sister, Elizabeth Valier of Drew; three brothers, Eugene Harris of Drew; and Aubrey Harris and Monroe Harris of Joliet, Ill; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

PHILIPP - JOHN W. ADAMS, JR, 65, died Monday, May 2, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis after a heart attack. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 1994, at the National Funeral Home Chapel of Grenada with burial in Providence cemetery at Gore Springs. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Adams, the husband of Ruth Adams, also leaves a daughter, Brenda A. Norris fo Winona; three sons, John W. Adams, III, Bobby Wayne Adams and Barry Lynn Adams, all of Philipp; his mother, Grace Perkins Adams of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister, Ann Milam of Grenada; three brothers, James E. Adams and Jack Sdams, both of Milwaukee, and Charles R. Adams of Memphis, and a grandchild.

SELMAN, TN - ERA C. HUBBERT, 83, of Selma, retired beautician and manicurist, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, at Tri-County Convalescent Home in Adamsville, Tenn. after a long illness. Services were held Tuesday, April 26, at 11 a.m., at Lake Hill Memory Gardens. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Hubbert ins survived by a daughter, Doris Greer of Selmer; a son, Lewis Hubbert of Highpoint, N.C.; a brother, Willie Havens of Charleston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

CHARLESTON - ROBBIE WHITE SHOOK, age 91, widow of Noah C. Shook, died Sunday, May 8, 1994, at the home of her son, Edward Shook. born icon in Tallahatchie County, she was a former piantist for Paynes Baptist Church, a former school teacher, and was active in the Homemaker Demonstration Club where she was a recipient of a 50 year pin. Rev. Jerry Bingham conducted services11 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, at Paynes Baptist Church where she was a member. The sacred music was presented by Harlin Fox, soloist and Louise Fox, organist. Interment was in Magnolia Gardens cemetery at Paynes with Womble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Sarah Shook of Charleston; two sons, Edward Shook and Jamie Shook, both of Charleston; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Barksdale Denley, Nick Denley, Dan Shook, Roy Shook, Carey Worsham and William Archie Worsham. Family requests any memorials be sent to Paynes Baptist Church Building Fund.

ENID - ANN HOLLINGSWORTH WRENN, age 73, widow of W.D. Wrenn, died Saturday, May 7, 1994, at her home. She was a member of the Teasdale Ladies' Auxiliary Club and the Teasdale Quilters Club. Rev. Rex Wilburn conducted services 11 a.m., Monday, May 9, at the Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member. Frank Bartozzi presented the Eulogy. Sacred music was presented by Mrs. Brenda Brasher, Mrs. Pat Little, and Mrs. Carla Willis. Interment was in Bethel cemetery with Womble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Mills of Bay St.Louis, Mrs. Jeanne Witherspoon of LaPlace, La. and Mrs. Pam Brooks of Ruleville; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Epps of Enid and Mrs. Tommie Bartozzi of Memphis; one brother Jake T. Hollingsworth of Enid; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Donald Eastridge, Paul Eastridge, Gary Epps, Jerry Hollingsworth, Terry Hollingsworth, Teddy Taylor.

OAKLAND - BOOKER T. FLOWERS, 62, of Chicago, formerly of Oakland, died Thursday, May 5, 1994, of heart disease at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Services were 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Persimmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Enid, where he was a member. Cooley's Mortuary in Batesville had charge of arrangements. He leaves four daughters, Kimberly Flours, Ethel Flowers, Sabrina Flowers and Cleo Flowers, and a son, Booker T. Flowers, Jr. all of Chicago; his mother, Fordia Kimble of Oakland; six sisters, Minnie Suggs, Edna Bradford, Hubert Jean Kimble, and Shirley McCollins, all of Oakland, Marie Taylor of Cascilla and Mary Chandler of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, L.C. Kimble and H.K. Kimble, both of Oakland and 10 grandchildren.

SUMNER - BETTY LOU McLAIN, 50, former employee of Fabric Center in Clarksdale, died Sunday, May 15, 1994, at her home. Services were 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at McNeil-Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale with burial in Woodlawn cemetery in Sumner. Mrs. McLain leaves two sons, Windell McLain of Horn Lake and Shane McLain of Clarksdale; her mother, Lola Card of Sumner, and a brother Bobby Gene Card of Houston, Texas.

CHARLESTON - PAULINE ROGER WOLFE, 77, homemaker, died Sunday, May 15, 1994, of heart failure at Tallahatchie General Hospital. Services were 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, at Newsom Funeral Home with burial in Smith cemetery in Rosebloom. Mrs Wolfe, the wife of Chester Wolfe, also leaves a daughter Patsy Brasell of Batesville; a son Herbert Wolfe of Charleston; a sister, Catherine Campbell of Greenwood and a brother, John Louis Rogers of Baton Rouge, La.

SUMNER - CHARLEY EVERETT DEAN, 86, retired farmer, died Saturday, May 14, 1994, of heart failure at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale. Services were 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Mcneil-Nowell Funeral Home in Tutwiler with burial in Woodlawn cemetery in Sumner. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He leaves a sister, Ruth Dean Werner of Sumner.

TUTWILER - DONNY FULLILOVE, 46, of Brick N.J. formerly of Tutwiler, taxi driver, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, of heart failure at Kimball Hospital in Lakewood, N.J.. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at McNeil-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale with burial in Drew cemetery. he was a Vietnam War Army Veteran. The husband of Ellen Moses Fullilove, he also leaves two sons, Neil Fullilove and Adams Fullilove, both of Brick; three sisters, Myrtis Holland of Greenville; Gennelle Mathews of Woodward, Okla., and Leona Lane of Tutwiler; four brothers, Kenneth Fullilove of Houston, James Fullilove of Grenada and Carl Fullilove and Martin Fullilove, both of Pearl River, La.

CHARLESTON - GEORGE W. LINDLEY, 88, of Oakland, died Thursday, May 12, 1994, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Services were 2 p.m. Friday May 13, at Newsom Funeral Home with burial in Ruleville cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bertice Lindley of Oakland; a son George W. Lindley, Jr. of Dragonfield, Texas; three daughters, Juanita Allen of Oakland, Sadie Roberts and Estelle Hillhouse, both of Charleston; three brothers, Claude Lindley of Grenwood, Edward Lindley of Memphis, and Albert Lindley of Charleston; two sisters, Minnie Maxey of Oxberry and Laura Staten of Grenada; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

CHARLESTON - JOHN RILEY MARTIN, 72 retired carpenter and construction worker, died Sunday, May 22, 1994, of cancer at Tallahatchie General Hospital. Services were 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Newsom Funeral Home with burial in Bethel cemetery in Enid. He leaves two sisters, Mattie Taylor of Enid and Myrtle Martin of Tillatoba.

CHARLESTON - THELDA ELLETT ATKINS, 74, homemaker, died Friday, May 20, 1994, of probable complications from Parkinson's disease and epilepsy at her home. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Newsom Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Gardens cemetery in Paynes. Mrs. Atkins, the widow of Calvin Atkins, leaves two daughters, Nancy Baiel and Robbie Draffin, both of Memphis; two sisters Thelma McCullough of Charleston and Sara Lloyd of Shreveport. La.; a brother, James Norris Ellett of Arizona, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

CHARLESTON - ISAAC FRANK SAYLE, age 77, retired farmer, died Wednesday, June 1, 1994, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis. Rev. Jeff Sockwell and Rev. W.R. McElrath conducted services 2 p.m., June 2, at the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Linda Allison, organist, and Mrs. Elaine Sayle, pianist presented the sacred music. Interment was in the Charleston cemetery with Womble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an Elder Emeritis. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served for years as President of the Tallahatchie County Hospital Board and President of the Cowart Gin Corp. Board. He was a member of the Board of the Tallahatchie County Bank, former President of the East Tallahatchie School Board, past President of the Tallahatchie Country Club, and President of North Tillatoba Drainage District. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Heinline Sayle; one daughter, Sally Sayle Weathersby of Memphis; one son David Bardwell Sayle of Charleston; two step-daughter, Ann Heinline of San Francisco, Calif. and Patricia H. Rutrough of Bloomington, Ill.; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family requests any memorials be sent to the Tallahatchie General Hospital Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church.

GRENADA - MRS. S.A. HARVEY, 79, died Sunday, May 29, 1994, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. Rev. B. Brooks conducted services Sunday, June 5, at Brushy Fork M.B. Church with interment in Brushy Fork cemetery. She is survived by twelve children; daughters, Rosie Mae Horton, Maggie Johnson, Virginia Norton, and Annie Pearl Bridges all of Grenada; Lue Willie Berry of Ottawa, Kansas, Florence Reed of Fort Lee, Virginia; sons, Ennis Harvey, Jr. Nelson Harvey, Wade Harvey, Manuel Harvey, all of Grenada, Ike Harvey of Sandusky, Ohio and Sylvester Harvey of Phoenix, Ariz. One son and several brothers preceded her in death. She also leaves four sisters, Leora Covington and Essie Hands and Lillie Meeks of Portageville, MO.; two brothers, Lewis and B.W. Towns of Chicago, Ill. and 41 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

OAKLAND - MATTIE REA HARRIS-CRUMP, 71, retired domestic worker, died Friday, June 3, 1994, at South Panola County Hospital in Batesville after a heart attack. Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday June 7, at St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church wit burial in the church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home of Oxford had charge of arrangements. She was a member of Car's Chapel CME Church. Mrs. Crump, the widow of Sidney Crump, Jr., leaves five daughters, Susan Sumlin, Thelma Kee and Martha Clark, all of Oakland, Bobbie Hervey of Oxford and Annie Coffery of Memphis; three sons, Gene Crump and Richard Crump, both of Oakland, and Sidney Crump, III of Oxford; two sisters, Susie Johnson and Lucill Chambers, both of Oakland, 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

TUTWILER - KATHLEEN A. JENNINGS, 80 retired post office clerk, died Monday, June 6, 1994, of heart failure at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale. Services were 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at First Baptist Church in Tutwiler where she was a member, with burial in Rosemound cemetery. McNeil-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale had charge. She was a member of the Tutwiler Women's Club, Home Demonstration Club and National association of Retired Federal Employees. She also leaves two daughters, May Ann Osborne of Southaven and Davileen Aquila of Miami; a son, Dave Jennings, III, of Clarksdale; a sister, Mabel Callicutt of Tutwiler; three brothers, Henry Ashford of Cleveland and David Ashford of Grenada; eight grandchildren. The family requests any memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

GRENADA - JOE WILLIAM EZELL, 83 retired farmer and carpenter, died Saturday, June 4, 1994, of apparent heart failure at Grenada Lake Medical Center. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, at National Funeral Home with burial in Calvary cemetery. He was a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. The husband of Opal Byrd Ezell, he also leaves three daughters, Olene Little of Elliott, Sue Jennings of Charleston, and Brenda Ezell of Grenada; two sisters, Ruth Little of Elliott and Opal Farris of Jackson; three brothers, Frank Ezell and Jack Ezell, both of Tupelo and Billy Ezell of Grenada, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Little, Trent Little, Chris Jennings, Ben Simmons, Ricky Corley and Ray Britt.

COLUMBUS - EUGENIA 'JEAN' HARFST, 50 died Wednesday, June 8, 1994, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus of an apparent stroke. Services were Saturday, June 11, at Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jeral D. Hunley officiating, and with burial in Memorial Funeral Home had charge. A former resident of Enid, she made her home in Columbus in 1965. She received and associate's degree from Wood Junior College and attended Mississippi State College for Women. She had bee employed by Mexican Kitchen since 1984. She attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Dennis L Harfst; one daughter, Laurie Harfst; one son, James H. Harfst of Starkville; and a sister, Jane Christopher of Houston Texas. Pallbearers were Scotty Yates, Sam Laffoon, George Wages, Steve Jaynes, Jimmy Kellum and Robbie LaFarge.

CHARLESTON - JOE BUFORD CLARK, 73 died Monday, June 13, 1994, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired city manager of Water and Waste Treatment Plant and fire fighter after 33 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran and a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge. The funeral was 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel, . Burial was in Charleston cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Clark of Charleston; a son, Steve Clark of Cleveland; a daughter, Beverly Clark Trout of New Albany; two brothers, Perry Whitten of Charleston and John Clark of Jackson; three sisters, Virginia Cardwell of Killen, Texas, Bette Rose Pearson of Selma, Aola and Charlene Freeland of Jackson; and six grandchildren.

CHARLESTON - MARY WOLFE PETTIT, 80, homemaker, died Thursday, June 16, 1994, at the Grenada Lake Medical Center after a series of strokes. Services were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Newsom Funeral Home wirh burial in Magnolia Garden cemetery. Mrs. Pettit, the widow of Manley Wolfe, leaves three sisters, Frances Carlin of Houston, Texas, Estelle Williams of Charleston and Ruby Lynn Sharp of Memphis; a brother, Leroy O'Bryant of Iuka, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
