Ms. Addie Lee Moore

July 11, 2010

Funeral services for Ms. Addie Lee Moore, 67, were held at July 17 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church in Noxapater, MS.

Rev. Joe Glass officiated.

Burial followed in Mt. Vernon cemetery.

A native of Noxapater Moore was a homemaker.

She was also a member of Pleasant Ridge M. B. Church.

Ms. Moore died April 30, 1943 at Baptist Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Survivors include Shelia Smith, Jeffery Moore, Danny Moore, Shirley Hudson, Flay Moore, twelve grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Beck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Otha Hartness Jr.

June 23, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Otha Hartness Jr, 64, were held at 2pm June 25, 2010 at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

Reverend Burlon Commer and Reverend Micheal Halfacre officiated.

Burial followed in Sunrise Memorial cemetery in Noxapater.

Mr. Hartness was a retired truck driver.

He was also a member of First Apostolic Church.

Survivors include wife Reta Dickerson Hartness, daughter Angela Hartness, sons Shannon Hartness and Shayne Hartness, sisters Ella Mae Shepperd and Elizabeth Reaves, and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ricky Hartness, Steve Reaves, John Dickerson, Kyle Dickerson, Carl Dickerson, and David Quinn.

Memorials may be made out to the First Apostolic Church.

Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. David Brownell Williams

July 13, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. David Brownell Williams, 91, were held at 2 p.m., July 17, 2010 at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon, MS.

Bro. Gary Shelton officiated.

Burial followed in Salem cemetery near Macon, MS.

A native of Detroit Michigan, Mr. Williams was retired from auto sales.

He was also a member of Mulberry St. Methodist Church.

He was also a pilot training officer for B24 Liberator Bomber pilots during World War II.

Mr. Williams died July 12, 2010 at his residence in Macon, Georgia.

Survivors include four sons: David Williams of Kennesaw, GA; John Williams of Kennesaw, GA; Charles Williams of Savannah, GA and Edward Williams of Conyers, GA, and six grandchildren.

Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS was in charge of arrangements.

William D. Metts

An icon was lost in the Taylor Machine Works family with the passing of William Metts, Director of Marketing for over 38 years.

From his early beginnings more than 51 years ago as a service man taking care of Taylor customers throughout the Southeast, William's expert knowledge of the Taylor products, his infectious attitude of positive thinking, and his "get the job done no matter what it takes" spirit led him into the Taylor sales organization soon thereafter.

Among many of William's career accomplishments, he led the company through its formative years as head of Sales and Service during the strategic transition from an Agricultural and Forestry equipment manufacturer into the big lift material handling giant Taylor is known for today.

William also carried out the strategic plan for the company in establishing a top flight sales organization as well as developing the best big lift material handling dealer network the industry has ever seen.

His tireless commitment to the customer led the company to coin its sudden service philosophy into a corporate moniker with the establishment of Sudden Service, Inc.

William's amazing analytical ability of assessing equipment wear and tear led him to become an industry expert in the field of lift equipment residual values thus developing a sound after market equipment valuation methodology for the company and competitors alike.

There has never been a better forklift salesman than William Metts.

He will be greatly missed by the Big Red Team and especially his loving Taylor - Metts family.

Mr. Metts died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Winston Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 20, at 11:00 AM, at Evergreen Baptist Church, with Dr. Gayle Pope and Rev. Jimmy Flake officiating.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Metts worked for Taylor Machine Works for more than 51 years.

He was born icon October 20, 1941, in Louisville, MS, to Garland Davis & Florence; Emma Wood Metts.

He was a member of Poplar Flat Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, W.A. Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Nelda Childs Metts of Louisville, MS; daughters, Delisa (Larry) Peavy of Louisville, MS, and LaShearer (Greg) Merchant of Columbus, MS; a son, William Derick (Pam) Metts of Louisville, MS; step-daughter, Sonjia (Russ) McReynolds of Starkville, MS; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Sullivan, Mitzie Taylor, and Melba Metts Pearson, all of Louisville, MS; his mother-in-law, Billy Lynn Childs of Louisville, MS; grandchildren, Anthony (Kristi) Peavy, Brandy (James) Blanton, Caleb (Virginia) Metts, Rae Anne Merchant, Hunter Sims, Chelsa Peavy, Jamie Merchant, Dylan Peavy, Brailey Merchant, Mac McReynolds, and Sara Stokes McReynolds; and a great grandchild, Carleigh Rae Blanton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Donnie Woodruff, Caleb Metts, Larry Addkison, Pete Johnson, Barry Black, Jason Thompson, David Gully, and Ray Reed.

Memorials may be made to Poplar Flat Baptist Church, 90 North Church Ave., Louisville, MS, 39339.

Mrs. Georgie Alexander

February 22, 1924 - July 18, 2010

Mrs. Georgie Alexander, 86, died July 18, 2010 at Louisville Health Care Nursing Home.

Visitation was held Monday, July 19, 2010, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Preston, MS.

Rev. Clyde Pounds, Rev. Vernell Daniels and Rev. Bobby Wayne Alexander officiated.

Burial was in the Dry Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander was a retired Cafeteria Manager for Louisville Public School and a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Alexander.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita (Bobby) Hood, Kosciusko 2 sons, Larry (Linda) Alexander, and J.L. Alexander both of Louisville, MS 1 sister, Mrs. Johnnie Green, Preston, MS 6 grandchildren, Keith Alexander, Steve (Melissa) Chambliss, Cliff (Angela) Chambliss, Joey (Cynthia) Hood, Brandi (Matt) Darby, and Rene (Gene) Cathey, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Keith Alexander, Cliff Chambliss, Steve Chambliss, Joey Hood, Wayne Green, Kenney Joe Ballard, Jimmy Alexander, Billy Alexander and Mickey McDonald.

Memorials may be made to Dry Creek Baptist Church cemetery Fund.

Mr. Clarence C. "Bud" Adcock

Mr. Clarence C. "Bud" Adcock, 81, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 14th, at First Apostolic Church, with Rev. Burlon Commer, Rev. Fred Frazier, Rev. Allen Eaves, Rev. Michael Halfacre, and Rev. Granville Wiggins officiating.

Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adcock was born icon May 10, 1929, in Winston County.

He was retired from Dixie Wholesale Waterworks and was a member of First Apostolic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadean Adcock.

He is survived by a son, Harold (Patricia) Adcock of Louisville two daughters, Dianne Adcock of Louisville, and Janie (Benny) Yarbrough of Columbus, MS two sisters, Rita Groner of Pearl, MS, and Glenda Kemp of Louisville and 5 grandchildren, Amy Yarbrough, Jennifer Yarbrough, Matthew Yarbrough, Sandy (Jason) McArthur, and Amanda Adcock.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Heard, Brandon Heard, Tyler Guy, Ray Popec, Andy McBrayer, J.W. McBrayer, Randy Goodin, and Danny Goodin. Honorary pallbearers were Dan Eaves, Willis Jones, Buster Moody, Bobby Sullivan, Hunter Hudson, Henry Young, M.D. McMinn, Fred Reed, Stacy Kemp, and Clifford Adcock.

Memorials may be made to First Apostolic Church for Amanda Adcock Missions.

Mrs. Getrude Hathorn Cole

Tuesday, October 14, 2003

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Hathorn Cole, 74, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Mt. Pleasant #2 M.B. Church in Noxapater. The Rev. Curtis Johnson officiated.

A native of Winston County, Mrs. Cole was a member of Mt. Pleasant #2 M.B. Church in Noxapater, where she served as a deaconess, home missionary member and usher. She married icon Albert Cole, Sr. Mrs. Cole died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Winston County Nursing Home.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Cole Sr.; two daughters, Maxine Cole Lyon of Noxapater and Charlene Cole of Denton, Texas; two sons, Albert Cole Jr. of Louisville and Robert E. Cole of Coulmbus, Ohio; twelve children and six great grandchildren.

Hampton Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnnie Travis Hill

Friday, October 17, 2003

Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Travis Hill, 86, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2003 at First United Methodist Church in Louisville. Burial followed in Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Winston County, Mr. Hill was retired from work with the D.L. Fair Lumber Company and later for the Georgia Pacific Company as a forestry procurement officer for the Crosset Division. He was educated in the Ellison Ridge schools and graduated from East Central Community Collge. He joined the Army in World War II and served as a sergeant in the 904th Infantry, a part of the 79th Division in the European Theatre. A member of First United Methodist Church, having served as Sunday school superintendent, administrative board member and two-time member of the building committee, Mr. Hill was also an officer in the Winston County Christian Friends and chairman of the Louisville-Winston County Chamber of Commerce Forestry Committee and one of the founding board members of Winston Academy. He was a member of the Mississippi Manufactureres Association, the legislative committee of the Mississippi AARP and a past president of the Woodmen of the World jurisdiction of Mississippi. Mr. Hill died Friday, October 17, 2003 at aWinston Medical center in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife, France Young Hill of Louisville; one daughter, Lea-Ann Denton of Meridian and three granddaughters, Natalie, jessica and madelyn of Meridian.

Pallbearers were Mark Dillard, Hal Hanna, Rush Hembree, Brian Mills, Ken Mills, Kevin Mills, Kevin Mills, Chris Moore and Keith Webb and Quintus Earl Webb.

Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Clark, Dave Fair, Davis Fair, Bennie Hill, Bobby McKay, Hal Overstreet and the Wrinkled Roosters.

Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Leo Jarvis

Saturday, October 18, 2003

Funeral services for Mr. Leo Jarvis, 79, were held Monday, October 20, 2003 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Dr. Robert Duhs and the Rev. Tim Muse officiated. Burial followed in Brandon Memorial Gardens.

A native of Kemper County and a Rankin County resident, Mr. Jarvis was a World War II Navy veteran and a career employee of Southern Natural Gas. He was a member of Brandonn Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder Emeritus, a former president of the Lions Club and a member of the Brandon Methodist Bridge Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose Jarvis of Brandon; two daughters, Vivien Jarvis Moore of Brandon and Melba Jarvis Whitaker of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Wendell Jarvis of Vicksburg; two sisters, Cleo Gully of Preston and Bobbie Jean Creekmore of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Robert J. Jarvis of Pearl, and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jim Gilmore, John Richard McArthur, Charles Moak, Nat Whitten, Robert May and Gary Morrison.

Memorials may be made to Reformed Theological Seminary, 5422 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS 39209.

Arrangements were made by Ott and Lee Fuenral Home of Brandon.
