Mrs. Ethel Smyth Day

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Smyth Day, 91, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville.
A native of Louisville, Mrs. Day was a retired legal secretary for the law firm of Strong-Smith. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and while living in New Orleans worked for Oschner's Clinc, part of that time as Administrator of the Board Exams for orthopedic surgery throughout the United States. She lived in Seattle with her husband Truman Day before moving back to Louisville in the 1950s, where Truman raised cattle for many years. Mrs. Day died Monday, October 20, 2003 at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.
Survivors inlcude many cousins. She had especially close ties to Dr. patrick Smith of Jackson and David McCool of Louisville, who were in charge of her later affairs.

Mr. John P. Leone

Funeral services for Mr. John P. Leone, 62, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2003 at South Louisville Baptist Church. The Rev. Rob Faulk and Scott Vaughn officiated. Burial followed in Shiloh Baptist cemetery.
A resident of Louisville, Mr. Leone was the owner of Lee Tractor Company and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville.
Survivors include his wife, Jann Lee Leone of Louisville; three sons, John Brian Leone and wife Brenda and Jay Patrick Leone, both of Louisville, and Jackie Phil Leone and wife Karen of Holden, La.; six sisters, Verna Leone, Edna Leone and Wanda Sue Leone, all of Many, La., Clara Sepulvado of Zwolle, La., Lucille Procell of Hemphill, Texas, and Mary Bailey of Henderson, Nev.; three brothers, Joseph W. Leone of Las Vegas, Nev., William S. Leone of Henderson, Nev., and Simon H. Leone of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Gully, Rodney Leone, Wes Leone, Tony Thomas, Tim Smith and John Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Leone, Justin Leone, Lynn Leone, Corey Stanton and Brian Jauch.

Mr. Grady P. Reed

Funeral services for Mr. Grady P. Reed, 85, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Harmony Baptist Church in Winston County. The Rev. Tommy Jones and the Rev. Jerry Lundy officiated. Burial followed in Harmony Baptist Church cemetery in Winston County.
A resident of Louisville, Mr. Reed was a farmer and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at his residence in Louisville.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Reed and Mitchell Reed, both of Louisville; one sister, Thelma Ruth Slawson of Louisville and two grandchildren, Marsha davis and Natherin Reed, both of Louisville.
Pallbearers were David Chambliss, Scott Gregory, Barry Holloway, Benny Luke, Billy Quinn and Joel Slawson.

Captain Clarence E. "Pete" Castle

Funeral services for Captain Clarence E. "Pete" Castle, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003 at Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lee Castle offciated. Burial followed in Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville.
A Louisville resident, Capt. Castle was a retired pilot in the United States Air Force. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. Capt. Castle played football for the Ole Miss Rebels and was drafter by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but chose instead to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Later in his Air Force career, he was considered for the first astronaut program. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Louisville. Capt. Castle died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson.
Survivors include three daughters, Victoria L. Purvis of Lexington, Ky., Valerie J. Castle of Edwards and Michele L. Norris of Gainsville, Ga.
Pallbearers were Tom Purvis, Bollen Banks, Jerason Banks, Richard Castle, Ben Castle and Ken Norris.

Jackie Kyle
Mr. Jackie Wayne Kyle, age 69, of Columbus, died October 23, 2003 at his residence in Columbus.
Graveside services were held October 27, 2003 at Memorial Gardens cemetery with Rev. James Gardner officiating. Mr. Kyle was a native of Ackerman, MS and the son of the late Henry A. and Lannie Burdine Kyle. He was a truck driver for 40 years, driving for Brookshire's Dairy, Mississippi Freight and the Commercial Dispatch. He also drove a cab for the 500-600 Cab Company for 20 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Billy Jack Kyle. Survivors include one son Wayne Kyle of Columbus, two daughters, Rhonda Courtney and her husband Bradley of Caledonia, and Beverly Elaine Sahami and her husband Fred of Eldorado Hills, CA; one brother Wilbur A. Kyle of Starkville, MS; two sisters, Pearline Baxter of Ackerman, and Nadine Hobbs of Texas; Grandchildren, Kierra Kyle, Marlee Courtney, Perry Sahami, Shireen Sahami, and Joey Filarski. Pallbearers were Wayne Kyle, Brad Courtney, Jeff Turner, Bobby Bowen.
Memorials may be made St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.

Mr. George Wayne Roberts

Graveside funeral services for Mr. George Wayne Roberts, 59, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003 at Welcome Chapel Church cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Agnew officiated. Burial followed in Welcome Chapel Church cemetery.
A native of Louisiana, Mr. Roberts was a resident of Jackson and a self-employed plumber. Mr. Roberts died Friday, October 24, 2003 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Dempsey Roberts of Jackson; three daughters, Tonya Roberts and Dawn Bryant, both of Jackson, and Jessie Bryant of Louisville; three sisters, Ernestine Roberts of Monroe, La., Annie Roberts of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dean Deveroe of Washington; three brothers, Mark Roberts and Roy Humphrey, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Clayton Humphrey of Monroe, La., and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Cramer Katherine Hunt

Funeral services for Mrs. Cramer Katherine Hunt, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2003 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman. Burial followed in Sturgis cemetery.
A native of Choctaw County, Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker. She was a member of Sturgis Baptist Church. Mrs. Hunt died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Hunt of Sturgis; one daughter, Patsy Dreyer of Mesa, Ariz; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman.
Mrs. Nellie B. Joiner

Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie B. Joiner, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003 at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel in Philadelphia. The Rev. Mike Ingram and the Rev. Bobby Joe Butler officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel cemetery in Noxapater.
A native of Winston County, Mrs. Joiner was a homemaker and a resident of Noxapater. She was a member of Noxapater United Methodist Church. Mrs. Joiner died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Survivors include two daughters, Iva Nell Atkinson of Philadelphia and Charlene Joiner Shumaker of Canton; five sons, Travis Joiner, Wayne Joiner and Bennie Mac Joiner, all of Louisville, and Alvis Joiner and Charles "Bo" Joiner, both of Philadelphia; one sister, Odean Moore Jones of Noxapater; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Baskin, Joe Baskin, Bob Baskin, Dwight Moore, Jonathan Peeples and Scott Cheatham.
Arrangements were made by McClain-Hays Funeral Home of Philadelphia.
Mrs. Rachel Butler Weaver

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Butler Weaver, 85, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at Soule Harbour Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak. Brother Gerald Butler and Brother Bobby Joe Butler officiated. Burial followed in Shuqualak cemetery.
A native of Gholson, Mrs. Weaverwas a homemaker and a member of Soule Harbour Pentecostal Church. She died Sunday, October 25, 2003 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Lynn Knight of Brooksville; one son, Bobby Joe Weaver of Shuqualak; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and five great greeat grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Soule harbour Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak.
Arrangements were made by Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon.
Mr. Reed Kennedy
Mr. Reed Kennedy, 74, of Louisville, MS, died October 16, 2003 at Winston Medical Center.
Mr. Kennedy was a Member of Bethsalem Presbyterian Church, a Graduate of University of Miss and a member of The Ole Miss Alumni Assn.
Services were held at Bethsalem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Larry Courtney officiating and burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Billy James Kennedy of Torrance, CA.

Mr. Larry McBride Starnes

Funeral services for Mt. Larry McBride Starnes, 56, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman.
Burial followed in Salem cemetery in Choctaw County.
A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Starnes was a resident of Indianola and a retired truck driver for Supervalue Foods after 28 years of service.
He was a Vietnam-era veteran and Church of Christ by religion.
Mr. Starnes died Sunday, October 26, 2003 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include his longtime companion Jean Kelley of Indianola; one daugher, Monica Roberts of Indianola; five brothers, Harold Starnes, Willis Starnes and Randy Starnes, all of Ackerman, Howard Starnes of Kenner, La., and Donald Starnes of Louisville; eight sisters, Ruth Dickerson and Vera Henderson, both of Ackerman, Mary Hirose and Barbara Starnes, both of Eupora, Opal Prewitt of Greenville, Bessie McMillan of Memphis, Tenn., Eunice Crittendon of Jackson and Saundra Wright of Indianola and one grandson.
Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.
Deborah Gail Thomas
Mrs. Deborah Gail Thomas, age 43, of Houlka, MS, died October 29, 2003 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
Mrs. Thomas was Church of God faith and a Homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Willie Thomas of Houlka; one daughter, Holly Doss of Houlka; two sons, Chris Doss and Adam Doss both of Houlka; two sisters, Linda Thomas and Tammy Schmitz of Houlka; one brother of Augusta, Georgia and one grandchild, Jermaine Doss.
Services were held November 1, 2003 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS and interment in Embry cemetery.

William Frazier
Funeral services for William Frazier were held Thursday, Oct. 30, at McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Rev. Bernard Nail Officiating and burial in Beulah cemetery in Choctaw County.
Mr. Frazier, 55, died Oct. 28, 2003 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
He was a native of Neshoba County and lived in Philadelphia most of his life.
He was a former employee of Hardy Manufacturingt and was a self-employed bio-medical technician.
Mr. Frazier served in the U. S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Frazier of McCool; 2 daughters, April Frazier Boler and her husband, Michael of Brookhaven, and Stacey Frazier Rives and her husband Roger L. of Millbrook, AL; 9 grandchildren, Lori Lynn Rives, Roger M. Rives, Grayson Boler, Gavin Boler, Tori McCulloch, Meghan McCulloch, Dillon Jones, Dawson Jones, and Sierra Jones; 2 step-children, Kandie Jones and her husband Virgil of Ackerman, and Wade McCulloch and his wife, Joni of Ackerman; one sister, Francis Hicks of Philadelphia; two brothers, Harvey Frasier of Grenada, and Robert Neese of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Gary Sullivan, Dwight Hicks, Key Seward, Virgil Jones, Johnny Sullivan, and Trickye Norris.
