Mr Billy Joel Triplett

Mr. Billy Joel Triplett, 62, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 3rd, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating.

Interment was be in Antioch cemetery.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Triplett was born icon January 30, 1948, in Louisville, MS.

He was a graduate of Louisville High School and East Central Community College. He was self-employed in the trucking business.

He was a Shriner and a member of Fist United Methodist church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn "Sweet" Triplett.

He is survived by his wife, Lissa Triplett of Louisville; two daughters, Tiffany Triplett Henkel of New York, NY, and Traci Triplett Thoms of Hickory, MS;three sons, Chad Turner of Louisville, B.J.Triplett of Lexington, KY, and Ray Triplett of Louisville;his father, Billy Earl Triplett of Louisville;a sister, Mary Metts of Louisville; and 5 grandchildren, Braxton Thoms, Camden Thoms, Joel Hudson Henkel, Mazie Turner, and Camp Turner.

Pallbearers were Tony Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Jason Miller, Chris Miller, Miller McMinn, and Caleb McMinn.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Louise Metts

On August 4, 2010, at age 87, Mrs. Louise Metts passed away at St. Dominic's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs.Metts was a resident of Louisville, MS, where she had lived her entire life.

On December 15th, 1 23 Mrs.Louise Metts was born icon to Edgar and Lucille Cockrell.

In 1943 she was wed to Mr.John Phillip Metts whom she was married icon to for 43 wonderful years until his passing in 1 86.

Mrs. Metts was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as secretary for 50 years.

As a hobby Mrs. Metts was an avid quilter, spending much of her spare time as a member of the Louisville Quilting Guild.

Mrs. Metts was an enthusiastic thimble collector who could also be found rooting on her favorite teams, the Duke Blue Devils and the Atlanta Braves.

Mrs. Metts is survived by daughters;Ruby Louise Metts of Louisville, MS, Ida Lucille Baldwin and husband, Joseph Douglas Baldwin of Brandon, MS, Jackie Carolyn Metts and husband, Jack Oliver White of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, brother, Jack Cockrell of Louisville, MS, daughter-n-law, Eva Faye Metts of Decatur, AL.

Mrs.Metts is preceded in death by her husband, John Phillip Metts, son John Phillip Metts Jr., brothers Davis Cockrell, Billy Cockrell, Joe Cockrell and sister Margret Ming.

Mrs. Metts was better known as "Grandmaw" by eight grandchildren; Melinda, John, Nicole, Doug, Brian, Josh, Andy and Jeff ...and by eleven great grandchildren;Megan, Mark, Macey, Matthew, Maggie, Kirsten, John Garrett, Nicholas, Harrison, Abby and Easton.

Funeral services were held at 10:30am on August 7th, 2010 at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Junior Davis and Rev. Rickey McKay officiating.

Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Metts, Doug Baldwin, Brian White, Josh White, Andy White, Jeff Watson, Michael "Opie" Wilson, and Wes Goldman.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Old Robinson Road, Louisville, MS.

Mrs. Mae Lee Cherry

August 20, 2010

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mae Lee Cherry, 64, were held at Weir Chapel, M.B. Church Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. Rev. Roy Williams officiated. Burial followed in Millspring cemetery.

Mrs. Cherry was a member of Weir Chapel, M.B. Church. Mrs. Cherry died August 20, 2010 at Neshoba County Hospital.

Survivors include her daughters, Sarah and Mary Cherry both of Philadelphia, MS; her mother, Sarah Marshall of Weir; her brothers, Johnny Marshall and Joe Marshall both of Weir. She is also survived by two grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Williams, Herring and Hampton F.H. were in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Irene Ray Lucas

September 2, 2010

Funeral Services for Mrs. Irene Ray Lucas, 87, were held on Saturday September 4, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Salem Independent Methodist Church near Ackerman, MS. Rev. Tim Long and Rev. Doug Herring officiated. Burial followed in Salem Independent Methodist Church cemetery near Ackerman.

A resident of Eupora, Mrs. Lucas was a Homemaker. She was also a member of Salem Independent Methodist Church. Mrs. Lucas died September 2, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Survivors include, her sons Paul Lucas, Ricky Lucas, and Wendell Lucas, all of Ackerman; her brother, Frank Ray of Ackerman; her sisters Jo Lenore Null, Mary Lee Ready, both of Ackerman. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cora Lee Parker

Mrs. Cora Lee Parker, 68, passed away August 21, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Visitation was Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, Louisville, MS. Funeral service was held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, Louisville MS. Rev. Jerry Lundy and Rev. Tommy Jones officiated.

Mrs. Palmer was a retired cafeteria worker from Nanih Waiya School. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Ada Elizabeth Monty Hamilton and son, Roy Wayne Palmer.

Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Palmer, Sr., Louisville, MS; 3 sons, Joe W. Palmer, Jr. and Dana, Mobile, AL, Jerry P. Palmer and Sue, Pisgah, MS, Johnny L. Palmer an Allison, Philadelphia, MS; step-daughter, Rita Herman, Louisville, MS; 2 sisters, Maria Ann Underwood, Louisville, MS, Bea Price and George, Riverside, MI; 3 grandchildren, Jason Palmer, Nashville, TN, Arin Palmer, Mobile, AL, Posey Leigh Palmer, Philadelphia, MS; 3 step-grandchildren, Dustin Herman, Megan Herman and Melanie Waldrop; 2 great- grandchildren, Hayden Patrick, Katelyn Noel.

Pallbearers were Victor Underwood, Dave Underwood, Jason Palmer, Arin Palmer, Dustin Herman, and Paul Reed.

Memorial can be made to Harmony Baptist Church cemetery Fund.

Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Lawrence

Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Lawrence, 85, died Saturday, September 3, 2010, at Winston Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 6th, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lawrence was born icon August 5, 1925, in Winston County, MS, the daughter of Rubye Lewis and William Oscar Pittman. Mrs. Lawrence was a homemaker and worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Carter Kemp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lawrence, and a daughter, Linda Kemp.

She is survived by a son, Dwayne (Deborah) Lawrence of Providence, RI; three grandchildren, William Christopher Kemp, Elizabeth Caroline Lawrence, and Melissa Lawrence Scales; and one great grandchild, Ailsa Skye Carmisciano.

Pallbearers were Wally Bennett, Lee Kirkpatrick, Arnie Strait, Chris Kemp, Tommy Kirkpatrick, Jason Bennett, Jonathan Bennett.

Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P. O. Box 746, Columbus, MS, 39703.

Doris Elaine Triplett Boydstun

Doris Elaine Triplett Boydstun, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at her home in Louisville. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, at First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville. Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Porter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boydstun was born icon October 27, 1925, in Brooksville, MS, the daughter of Doris Harper and Howard Hastings Triplett, Sr. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was long-time member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Osborn Boydstun; her son, Philip Marshall Boydstun; son-in-law, Cavett Taff; and brother, Howard Hastings “Buddy” Triplett, Jr.

Mrs. Boydstun leaves her daughter, Carol Taff of Jackson; son, Tommy Boydstun and his wife Leah of Louisville; a sister, Barbara Triplett Reid of Dallas, TX; and seven grandchildren, Emily, Philip, Lila and Ryder Taff and Caroline, Marshall and Anna Grace Boydstun.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 547, Louisville, MS, 39339.

Mrs. Berley Ann Rogers Lindley

Mrs. Berley Ann Rogers Lindley, 74, passed away at Winston Medical Center on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation was at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Salem Baptist Church cemetery in Noxubee County with Rev. Jimmy Flake officiating.

Mrs. Lindley was the oldest of seven children born icon to Henry and Irene Myers Rogers; she was a retired antique dealer.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Matt) Mathis of Starkville; two sisters, Caroline (Don) Sisson and Mona (Charlie) Herrington all of Louisville; two brothers, J. W. (Ganice) Rogers of Loretta, Tennessee and Doyle Rogers of Weir; and two grandchildren, Joey (Amber) Phelps of Orlando, Florida and Zachary Roggensees of Bronaugh, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lindley and her daughter, Cindy Phelps.

Pallbearers will be Stevie Herrington, Reid Simpson, and Casey Sisson. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mary Belle Swearingen

Mary Belle Swearingen logged thousands of hours on the back of a motorcycle, and survived, had three major car accidents, and survived, jumped out of an airplane on her 75th birthday last December, and survived, so how sad that

we lost our precious Mary Belle from complications following a routine outpatient surgery.

On Sunday, September 5, 2010, she left this life to join her Lord and family in Heaven.

She is survived by Bob Lewallen, as well as her three children, Keni and John Rodgers of Hondo, Lesli Banner and John Atkin of San Antonio and Phil and Valerie Swearingen of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Ron and Shanna Rodgers of Houston, Lori and Mike Rose of Hondo, Lauren and Mark Richey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rowdy Banner, Kylie Rock, Tatum and Reid Swearingen; two great-grandchildren, Bella Rose and Caitlyn Richey. She is receded in death by her husband, Col. Douglas Osborne Swearingen and her daughter, Judi Johnson.

Mary Belle was a committed member and pianist at First Baptist Church, Jourdanton and was actively involved in their nursing home ministry.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 8:30AM at the Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX, 78218 with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Jourdanton.

Mrs. Mattie Mae Higginbotham West

Mrs. Mattie Mae Higginbotham West, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Good Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Sammie McMillen and Rev. Larry Ferris officiating.

Interment was in Good Hope cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. West was born icon July 28, 1932, in Noxubee County, MS.

She was a cosmetologist, and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Louise Vaughn and James Larkin Higginbotham; a son, Jeffrey Donald Hemphill; and two brothers, William Higginbotham and Joe Higginbotham.

She is survived by her husband, Paul West of Louisville, MS; two daughters, Cathy Ferris of Monroe, LA, and Paula McCluskey of Ripley, MS; six sons, Randy Hemphill, Danny Hemphill, John Hemphill, and David Hemphill, all of Louisville, MS, James Hemphill of West Point, MS, and Eugene Hemphill of Arizona; a sister, Elsie Parney of Louisville, MS; two brothers, George Higginbotham of Macon, MS, and Charles Higginbotham of Baton Rouge, LA; 24 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jay Moore, Anthony Miles, Jimmy Higginbotham, William Shepheard, Kevin Bishop, Jimmy Hemphill, Dennis Hemphill, and Ronnie Lee. Honorary pallbearer is Shannon Foskitt. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International or the Baptist Children’s Village.

Mr. Joseph David Lowery

Graveside services for Mr. Joseph David Lowery, 60, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday July 22 at Hinze cemetery in Winston County. Rev. Chris Gully officiated.

A native of Winston County, Mr. Lowery was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired after working 15 years with Sierra Pipeline of Dayton, TX. Mr. Lowery was a Baptist.

Survivors include wife Betty Lowery of Forest, MS, son Scottie (Hope) D. Lowery of Forest, MS, brother Jimmy Lowery of Louisville, MS, and 3 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Scottie Lowery, Robert Lasseter, Rusty Breaux, Robby Breaux, David Warren & Randy Clark.

John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Edward Weeks

July 17, 2010

Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Weeks, 76, were held on Tuesday, July, 20 at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Bro. Jay Clark officiated.

Burial followed in Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Weeks died Saturday July 17, 2010 at NMMC in Eupora.

Survivors include Tommy Weeks, Shane Weeks, Debbie Morris, Susan Weeks and April Weeks.

He also had twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Dewayne Williams, Lane Williams, Shane Johnston, Dustin Dipuma, Pettey Leach, and Fonzie Comans.

Wise Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.
