Mrs. Marie Wilson Wells

Marie Wilson Wells, 80, of Eupora, died September 25, 2010, at her residence in Eupora.

Services for Mrs. Wells were September 27, 2010, at Wood Springs Baptist Church with Bros. Lanny Collum, Larry Watson, and Dale Strickland officiating. Interment followed at Wood Springs cemetery in Choctaw County.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Dewberry, Regina Busby, both of Eupora, and Linda Stewart, of Walthall; a son, Benny Wells of Douglas, Wy.; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Wells were Justin Dewberry, Brandon Busby, Eric Busby, Stephen Pruitt, George Koerber, and Nelson Dean.

Arrangements were handled by Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora.

Mrs. Gladys Evelyn Hackler

Gladys Evelyn Hackler, 82, of Mena, Ark., died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at her home.

Services for Mrs. Hackler were October 2, 2010, at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Bros. Greg Chamblee, Chet Ferguson, and Mark Mayo officiating. Burial followed in Bear Creek cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Hackler of McCool, Miss.; son, Danny Hackler of McCool; daughter, Theresa Kelley of McCool; three grandchildren, Evelyn Pender, Liz Odom, and Emily Kelley; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included Charles Pender, Ronnie Johnson, Tommy Pender, Erik Cagle Nathan Duggar, and Tony Spears.

Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage, Miss., was in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Cutts Phillips, July 15, 1940 - July 21, 2010, A Memorial service for Martha Cutts Phillips will be held October 23, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in Gulfport, Mississippi. Rieman Family Funeral Home of Gulfport, Mississippi is in charge of services.

Mr. Russell Ovette Hall

Mr. Russell Ovette Hall, 79, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Rush Foundation Hospital. His funeral will be held at John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia at 1 P.M. Monday, October 4, 2010 burial followed in Galloway Family cemetery in the House Community where he lived most of his life. Rev. Richard Burks and Rev. John Stephens officiated

He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and a truck driver. He worked many years hauling milk, logs and sweet potatoes. Mr. Hall was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Pentecostal Apostolic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Hall of Philadelphia; one daughter, Ginger H. Brooks of Philadelphia; one son, Rusty Hall of Philadelphia; one sister, Betty Woods of Philadelphia; three brothers; Anderson Hall, Bobby Hall both of Philadelphia and Mike Hall of Columbia, MS.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pauline Carter Lewis

Mrs. Pauline Carter Lewis, 79, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Monfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Her funeral was held at Mt. Calvary M. B. Church at 1 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2010 burial followed in the Church cemetery. Rev. E. C. Pittman was the officiating minister.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary M. B. Church and a retired homemaker.

She is survived by six sons; Prentiss Woods, of Hattiesburg, MS.; John Lewis of Louisville, Lee Lewis, Fredrick Lewis, Leon Lewis and Bobby Lewis all of Kosciusko; two sisters, Margaret Daniels of Miami, FL.; Estes Fulwiley of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews

Mrs. Lillie Mae (Cox) Lyons

Mrs. Lillie Mae (Cox) Lyons, 99, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Neshoba County Nursing Home in Philadelphia. Her funeral was held at Mt. Ary M. B. Church at 1 P.M. Saturday, October 2, 2010 burial following in the Church cemetery near Philadelphia, MS. Rev. Bennie J. Hopkins, Sr. was the officiating minister.

She was a member of Mt. Ary M. B. Church and a Sunday School teacher. A member of the Home Mission Society, and served as Secretary to the Mt. Olive District Home and Mission.

She is survived by five sons; Marshall Lyons of Flint MI., Melvin, Jessie and Andy Lyons all of Philadelphia, MS.; twenty grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Robert Dwight Rucker

Robert Dwight Rucker, 43, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at his home in Louisville, MS. His funeral was held at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville at 2 P.M. Saturday, October 2, 2010 burial following in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Louisville. Rev. Robert E. Sangster, Sr. was the officiating minister.

He was a laborer.

He is survived by his mother Aldean Ivy; one son. Willis Smith of Louisville; two sisters, Patricia Hamilton of Humble Tx., and Marilyn Rucker of Houston, Tx; and one brother William Rucker, Jr. of Louisville; also aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and other relatives and friends

Mr. Johnny L. Cooper

Johnny L. Cooper, age 61, of Ashville, AL, passed away September 22, 2010.

He was formerly of Meridian, MS and York, AL. He was a veteran of the US Army, and was laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, AL.

He is survived by his wife Linda Williamson Cooper; daughter Lori Cooper Donellan; 4 grandchildren; mother Charlene Cooper of York, AL; sister Sandra Smith of Cuba, AL; and extended Williamson family of Louisville, MS and surrounding areas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Johnny L. Cooper Memorial Fund. Please send checks to Hometown Bank, 6480 Hwy. 79, Pinson, AL 35216.(Acct. # 1611771) Proceeds will be used to offset funeral cost and to donate to pancreatic cancer research.

Funeral services for Mr. Demetrius Smoot, 25, were held at 1 pm September 28, 2010 at Brown Ridge M.B. Church. Reverend James T. Steele officiated. Burial followed in Depot Hill cemetery.

Mr. Smoot was a member of Brown Ridge M.B. Church in Dekalb, MS. Mr. Smoot died September 23, 2010 in Dekalb.

Survivors include father Johnny Butler, mother Sandra Smoot, sisters Tamekia Butler and Pamela Corbin, brothers Jermaine Smoot, Devontae Drummond, and Dennis Griffin, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Mr. Willie Joe Gentry

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Joe Gentry, 68, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Bevil Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Phil Gerber officiated. Burial followed in Bevil Hill cemetery.

A native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Macon, MS, Mr. Gentry was a truck driver. He was a member of Wess Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry died on Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home in Macon. Survivors include his wife, Jeanelle Gentry of Macon, MS; his daughter, Robin Hinton of Guntown, MS; two sons, Joseph Dale Gentry of Clarksdale, TN, and Mark Gentry of Louisville, MS; five step-sons, James Jones and Casey Jones, both of Macon, MS, Frankie Jones and Stephen Jones both of Louisville, MS, and Jackie Jones of Aliceville, AL; nine grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Hodge, 60, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2004, in the Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, MS. Brother Rob Faulk and Brother Charles Maple officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel cemetery in Noxapater, MS.

A resident of Louisville, MS, Mr. Hodge was a retired foreman from Taylor Machine Works. He was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church. Mr. Hodge died on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in the home of his son, Brad, in Eupora, MS.

Survivors included his son, Brad Hodge of Eupora, MS; his sister, Norma Dotson of Jackson, MS; and his two grandsons.

Pallbearers were Joe Hodge, Clark Hodge, Kenny Morris, Scott Dotson, Chad Hodge, and Bobby Joe Hodge.

Memorials may be made to Sta-Home Hospice of Louisville, MS.

A native of Louisville, MS, Mr. Triplett was a laborer and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Hopewell U. M. Church in Louisville, MS. Mr. Triplett died on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.

Survivors include his mother, Bessie Ola Triplett of Louisville, MS; three sisters, Guiline Mack and Marie Coleman, both of Louisville, MS, and Shirley Gladney of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A native of Winston County, Mrs. Garner was a homemaker, and a member of Hopewell U. M. Church. Mrs. Garner died on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in the Alliance Health Center in Meridian, MS.

Survivors include her two sons, Johnny Garner of North Carolina, and Jerome Hannah of San Diego, CA; her two sisters, Christine Graham and Ernestine Haynes; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, MS.

She died on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Aurora Nursing Home in Columbus, MS.

Survivors include her four daughters, Irene Lipscomb of Macon, MS, Mavis Barlow of Florence, MS, Mary Ezelle of Wickenburg, AR, and Syble Miles of Columbus, MS; two sons, Dorris H. Jones of Louisville, MS, and James W. Jones of Silver Creek, MS; her sister, Dorothy Parker of Knoxville, TN; her brother, Clyde McCool of Copperopolis, CA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A resident of Noxapater, MS, Mrs. Benson was a retired homemaker. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Noxapater, MS.

Mrs. Benson died on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Winston Medical Center.

Survivors include her three sons, Charles Hancock of Tempe, AR, Carey Hancock of Surprise, AR, and Danny Hancock of Noxapater, MS; two daughters, Irene Picard of Boise, ID, and Paulette Watts of Florence, MS; four brothers, Wesley Garrard of Louisville, MS, Alvin Garrard of Carthage, MS, Willis Garrard of Vicksburg, MS, and Homer Garrard of Columbus, MS; her sister, Inez Malone of Starkville, MS; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Roger Hancock, Jason Hancock, Kenneth Garrard, Joe Foster, Randle Ellis, and Bobby Ellis.

Mrs. Jane Harris McCool

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Harris McCool, 84, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS. Ms. Ann Houston Kelly officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park cemetery in Louisville.

A native of Louisville, MS, Mrs. McCool was a retired school secretary, and an avid bridge player. She was a member of Louisville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. McCool died on Thursday, June 24, 2004, in the Neshoba County Nursing Home in Philadelphia, MS.

Survivors include her son, Tommy McCool of Philadelphia, MS; two daughters, Cindy Faucette and Mary Ann Childs, both of Tupelo, MS; her sister, Joyce Hurt of Louisville, MS; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
