Mr. Gordon Doss Tabor

Saturday, June 26, 2004

Funeral services for Mr. Gordon Doss Tabor, 83, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Shawn Parker officiated. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Columbus.

A resident of Columbus, MS, Mr. Tabor was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Tabor Plumbing Co. for fifty years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus. Mr. Tabor died on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at his residence in Columbus, MS.

Survivors include his wife, Audine J. Tabor of Columbus; his daughter, Linda T. Dahlem (Wilbert) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his son, Leon Tabor (Faye) of Columbus; his sister, Hattie Lou Gorman of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bennie L. French, Walter Fulton, Mac McCarty, Gene Dahlem, Chad Dahlem, and Blake Dahlem.

Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703.

Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marty Davis Thrasher

Sunday, June 27, 2004

Funeral services for Mr. Marty Davis Thrasher, 46, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at the Starkville Funeral Home. Rev. Kerry Collins and Rev. Marty Britt officiated. Burial followed in White Hall cemetery in Louisville, MS.

A native of Winston County, MS, Mr. Thrasher was a resident of Starkville, MS, where he was employed as an electrician for A & H Electrical and Refrigeration. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Starkville, MS. He died on Sunday, June 27, 2004 in Starkville, MS.

Survivors include his parents, James and Shirley Thrasher of Starkville, MS; his brother, Boyd Thrasher of Starkville, MS; and his three sisters, Mary Crowley of Ackerman, MS, Kathy Wentworth of Davenport, IA, and Barbara Reitz of Pryor, OK.

Memorials may be made to The Marty Thrasher Fund, 801 Stark Road, Starkville, MS 39759.

Starkville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Thomas Carter

Paul Thomas Carter, 62, a native of Brookhaven and resident of Wichita Falls, Texas, died June 20, 2010, at United Regional Hospital.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Pearlhaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven. The Rev. Anthony Yarborough will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Bogue Chitto.

Mr. Carter was born icon Aug. 21, 1947, in Brookhaven, to David Franklin Carter and Marjorie Case Carter.

He was an auto parts sales representative for Patterson Auto Group and a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, a son and his father-in-law, James Walter White.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie White Carter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Wayne and Lyndie Carter of Wichita Falls, and Christopher Paul and Carrie Carter of Nashville; one daughter and son-in-law, Chasity and Lance Falvey of Bogue Chitto; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James David and Polly Carter of Ruth and Harold Frank Carter of Nashville; and seven grandchildren, Riley, Duncan and Ellison Falvey and Madeline, Kate, Michael and Neal Carter.

Joe E. “Gene” Seale

Joe E. “Gene” Seale, 78, of Meadville, died there June 23, 2010, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital.

Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Meadville Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the fellowship hall. The Rev. Johnny Bowlin, the Rev. Wiley Reid and the Rev. Charlie Seale will officiate. Burial will be in Midway cemetery.

Franklin Funeral Home of Meadville is in charge of services.

Mr. Seale was born icon June 17, 1932, in Franklin County, to Clyde and Audra McCall Seale.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Meadville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Seale; an infant son, Jack; a grandson, Nigel Wentworth; and a brother, Jack.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Rand Seale and Jo Ann of Meadville; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Hal “Wimpy” Wentworth of Meadville; two brothers, Don and James Seale; three grandsons, Jamie Seale, Jeremy Seale and Yancy Wentworth, all of Meadville; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Seale, Jacob Seale and Peyton Nickles,

Pallbearers will be Yancey Wentworth, Jamie Seale, Jeremy Seale, Barney Hill, Wimpy Wentworth and Short Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dunk Wallace, Harry Wells, Buck Steele, Phillip Price, Les Hill, Tony Smith and Calvin Oglesby.

Dr. George H. Edmonson

Dr. George H. Edmonson, 75, died May 30, 2012, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

He was born icon in Magee on Feb. 9, 1937.

He was a dentist and a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

He was also a member of Brookhaven Exchange Club and Gideons International, lifetime deacon and general officer at First Baptist, and a life member of Mississippi Dental Association.

Dr. Edmonson got his bachelor’s degree from Ole Miss and doctorate in dentistry from Emory University in Atlanta.

Preceding him in death was his father, George H. Edmonson Sr.

Survivors are his wife, Linda H. Edmonson; mother, Lanelle Russell Edmonson; son, Mark David Edmonson; daughter, Amy Lynn Edmonson Campbell; brothers, Richard Mae Edmonson and Ben Garret Edmonson; nephews, Richie Edmonson and wife, Lisa, Stephen Edmonson and wife, Deborah, and Will Edmonson and wife, Tricia; and granddaughter, Kristie Ann Campbell.

Anne Crawford

Private graveside services for Anne Jordan Crawford, of Brookhaven, will be at Rosehill cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Riverwood.

Mrs. Crawford, 80, of Brookhaven, died May 25, 2012 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born icon on October 19, 1931, to Robert Burton Jordan and Bessie Dickson Jordan.

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.

She was member and past president of the Climbers Club, a member of Matinee Musicale and a member of the Tuesday Two Table Bridge and Luncheon Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Burt Jordan Brasfield; and her brothers, Joe Jordan, Dick Jordan and Milton Jordan.

Survivors include her husband, William F. Crawford; her son, Robert Michael Crawford; her sister-in-law, Roberta Moreton Crawford of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn Pepper

Mrs. Carolyn Harveston Pepper, 65, of Brookhaven, died on May 17, 2012, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb.

She was born icon on February 24, 1947, to Willard Winston (Jack) Harveston and Mary Alice Smith in Mississippi.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jerry E. Pepper; her father, Jack Harveston; her brothers, Alton Wayne Harveston, and Jackie Harveston; and her sister, Gail Harveston.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Alice Smith and husband, Truly; her stepson, Bruce Pepper and wife, Sharon of Hurley, Mississippi; her daughters, Stephanie Pepper Allen and husband, Lee, and Lacey Pepper; her brothers, Freddie Harveston and wife, Ruby, and Jim Harveston and wife, Darlene; her sisters, Judy Dykes and husband, Luke, and Dale Perone, all of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Madelaine Allen, Cayden Easley, Catelyn Easley, Haley Pepper, Colby Pepper, and Peyton Pepper; and one great-grandchild, Londyn Cole.

Donald Keith Wallace

Mr. Donald Keith Wallace, 57, died May 15, 2012, in Tampa Bay, Fla.

He was born icon in Mississippi on Dec. 8, 1954.

He was self-employed at HVAC and a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

Preceding him in death was his father, Irven Wallace.

Survivors are his mother, Yvonne Leggett Wallace; sons, Blake Wallace and wife, Allison, and Taylor Wallace, all of Brookhaven; daughters, Erica Wallace and Allyson Wallace, both of Brookhaven; brother, Randy Wallace and wife, Jenny, of Columbia; and four grandchildren, Tucker, Kat, Piker and John Patrick Wallace, all of Brookhaven.

Alfia A. Bullock

Mrs. Alfia A. Bullock, 89, of Ruth, died on May 3, 2012, at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven.

She was born icon on November 1, 1922, to A.C. and Mary Pate.

She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Alfia was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother.

All her life she devoted her time to do for and take care of others.

Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was what she loved most of all. Alfia will be missed by many.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.L. Bullock; her brothers, L.M. Pate, Jack Pate, AC Pate, Henry Pate, and Buck Pate; and her sisters, Lucy Free, Alma Bullock, and Evelyn Brister.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Bullock and wife, Sharon, of Ruth; her daughter, Sheila Jennings and husband, John, of Kentwood, Louisiana; her six grandchildren, Amy Henry, Amanda Bullock, Tammi Thornhill, and Chris, Billy, and Alan Reeves; and her seven great-grandchildren.

Dan P. Weeks

Mr. Dan P. Weeks, 75, died May 28, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

born Aug. 3, 1936 to James William and Nan Speed Weeks, he was a lifelong resident of Copiah County, dying on the same hill on which he was born.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base and serving a tour of duty near Seoul, South Korea, in the aftermath of the Korean War.

Immediately following his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1958, Mr. Weeks carried on the family business, starting Weeks Dairy and making a living from the earth fro the next 51 years.

His wife, children and grandchildren helped with the numerous daily responsibilities and his youngest son, Tim, joined his father in the dairy business in 1979.

Over the years, several local teenage boys were employed at the dairy and became a part of the extended family and were often referred to as "our boys." Now, "our boys" are grown men, some with children older than they were when they helped at Weeks Dairy.

He was an active member of Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson, where he served at length as a deacon and was a member of various committees.

Dan was known for his honesty (sometimes brutal honesty), generosity (which was never-ending), and analytical mind (he knew when your great plan wasn't going to work). He was well known for his mischievous sense of humor (he was pretty proud of it, anyway) and loved a good prank. He never shied away from hard work, and never backed down from a challenge. He was accustomed to sweat, blood, dirt and tractor grease.

Mr. Weeks loved his family, and we loved him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Jeanette Jackson; brother, Billy Weeks; and great-grandsons, Abraham Denver and Aran Daniel Northam.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years,

Ann Slay Weeks, of Wesson; sons, Jeff Weeks, of Denham Springs, La. and Tim Weeks and wife, Theresa, of Brookhaven; daughters, Beverly Weeks Tarver, of Wesson, and Judy Weeks Wilson and husband, Roger, of Brookhaven; brother, Jerry Weeks and wife, Laverne, of Vicksburg; sister, Charlotte Drane, of Wesson; grandchildren, Carrie Tarver Northam and husband, Adam, Jim Tarver and wife, Kaylee, all of Wesson, Bradley Weeks, Trisha Weeks Wells and husband, Jason, all of Baton Rouge, La.; Joshua Wilson, of Hattiesburg, Elizabeth McDaniel, Joshua Milholen, Erin Milholen, all of Brookhaven, and Jake Wilson, of Jasper, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Bergeron, Timothy Bergeron, Blaine, Cooper and Laikin Tarver, Kayden and Mason McDaiel, and Kreston and Anniston Wilson; in-laws, Patricia Slay King, Betty Slay Keywood, Russell and Jo Slay, Von and Brenda Slay, James N. "Jimmy" Slay, Deborah "Debbie" Slay Nance and David, Mrs. "Maudell" Weeks; special family friend, Charles Riddle; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Billy Joe Upton

Mr. Billy Joe Upton, 41, died May 26, 2012, at his home.

He was born icon in Brookhaven on Feb. 23, 1971.

He was a supervisor at Wastequip MayFab.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Deborah Lynn Upton; and father, James “Bud” Melton.

Survivors are his mother, Joyce Upton Melton; daughters, Joanna Upton and Jessica Upton Beeson and husband, Cody; brothers, Michael Upton, Jason Case and wife, Jennifer, and James Allen; sister, Nancy Case and daughter, Brittany Ladnier; and special family friends, Debra Harper, Brittany Beeson, Harry Kumar and his MayFab family.

Lucille Townsend

Mrs. Lucille Townsend, 89 of Brookhaven, died on May 24, 2012 at Brookmanor Nursing Home.

She was born icon on May 16, 1923 to Tom and Myrtis Honea.

She was a retired Bookkeeper of Holiday Inn and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Townsend and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Lester Boutwell and his wife Patricia of Brookhaven; sister Elma Dykes of Brookhaven; three grandchildren; six great –grandchildren, one great- great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
