Survived by wife, Jo A. Barnes; daughters, Kathy Sisk and husband, Melvin, Byhalia and Vickie Utley and husband, Larry, Horn Lake; sons, Loyal Laverne Barnes Jr. and wife, Hattie, Nesbit and Ronnie Hatton and wife, Pam, Southaven; mother, Flora Mae Barnes, Booneville; sisters, Joyce Moreland, Booneville, Betty Lou Williams, Baldwin, and Deborah June Morris, Booneville; brothers, Eugene Barnes and Johnny Barnes, both, Booneville, and Von Ray Barnes, Joliet, Ill. ; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. FRIERSON - Essie Frierson, 93, Oxford, passed away Oct. 1, 2007. Services, Hodges Funeral Home.

HARDY - Terry "Gene" Hardy, 65, Horn Lake, retired Logistics Specialist of Horn Lake, passed away Oct. 6, 2007, at Baptist-Desoto Hospital. Loving father and grandfather. Survived by wife of 39 years, Donna; daughter, Shelby Elmore; son-in-law, Ronnie Elmore and three grandsons, Matthew, Andrew and Jacob; mother, Lucy Hardy-Rogers; sisters-in-law, Karen Webb and Dollie Hardy; brother-in-law, Rusty Sisson; nephews, Mike, Robert and Shane; niece, Courtney; and host of other relatives and dear friends. Preceded in death by father, Owen Hardy and brothers, Joe and Seth Hardy. Worked in the same plant for over 47 years as it changed ownership and names several times before becoming Bryce Corporation. Avid outdoorsman, enjoyed deer hunting and raising and riding quarter horses. Spent his life helping and mentoring others in the workplace and at home. Accomplished saddle maker, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, Memorial Park Funeral Home. Family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to charity of donor's choice. Arrangements, Memorial Park Funeral Home.

HANCOCK - Joseph Daniel Hancock II "Joey," Southaven, passed away Sept. 17, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto. Born April 27, 1958, in Jonesboro, Ark. Attended University of Memphis and University of Arkansas. Employed with Crews and Associates. Survived by mother, Bobbye Davis, Southaven; sisters, Angela Hancock Wilson, Hernando and Ella Grace Young, Southaven. Memorial was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. HUGHES - Cathryn Willene Hughes, 63, Hernando, homemaker, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto. Memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, Trinity Baptist Church, Southaven. Preceded in death by husband, Raymond O Hughes. Survived by son, Michael R. Hughes (Sharman), Hernando and grandchildren, Emma and Charles Hughes. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Lung Cancer Society or Animal Shelter. HUNT - Henrietta Jackson Hunt, 82, Holly Springs, passed away Sept. 27, 2007. Services, J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home.

HYDE - Raymond C. Hyde, 56, Memphis, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in Jackson, Tenn. Engineer with Tennessee Dept. of Transportation. Survived by sister, Evelyn Hyde Joyner, Cordova; aunts, Evelyn Cornelius, Memphis, Dorothy Simmons, Tyro, Miss.; a niece; a nephew; and three great nieces. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 6, Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch with visitation at 9 a.m. Interment, Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Tyro. Memorial gifts may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

KIRKSEY - Pamela Kay Kirksey, 50, Olive Branch, passed away Oct. 1, 2007. Born June 9, 1957, in Biloxi, Miss. To Forrest and Wanda Rector. Taught in public schools of DeSoto County for several years. On June 6, 1981, she married Robert F. Kirksey, Westville, Okla. After traveling with the military for several years, they settled their family in Olive Branch. Active member of Getwell Road United Methodist Church, where she taught Children's choir and played hand bells. Loved working with kids and was avid supporter of high school sports in Olive Branch and Center Hill. Survived by husband of 26 years; daughter, Brittany Elizabeth, Baton Rouge, La.; son, Robert F. Kirksey II; mother, Wanda Rector; and brothers, Steve and Jeff Rector; and families of Fayetteville, Ark. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 5 with services at 2 p.m. Oct. 6, both Brantley Funeral Home. Interment, Blocker Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Arrangements, Brantley Funeral Home.

LACY - Ms. Elvie Lacy, 93, Olive Branch, formerly of Sulligent, passed away Oct. 1, 2007, in Olive Branch. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, Otts funeral Home Chapel, with burial, Webb Cemetery. Bro. John Nicholson officiated. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., funeral home. To the late John Thomas and Pinkie Kersey Cantrell. Member of Sulligent Church of Christ and previously worked at McCoy Manufacturing in Sulligent. Survived by son, Stoney (Mary Ann) Lacy, Olive Branch; daugther, Sharon Loveless, Sulligent, Ala.; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Ottis Cantrell, Seattle, Wash. Preceded in death by parents, John Thomas and Pinkie Cantrell; daughters, Maxine Reeves and Carolyn Sandlin; grandchild, Bonnie Jane Reeves; sisters, Verla Hollis, Margie Vann and Bertha Cantrell; and brother, Bill Cantrell. Vice President of North Mississippi Radio Control Club, assistant baseball coach for Southaven Braves and Southaven All-Stars, devoted employee of St. Jude Hospital and former Deputy Sheriff for DeSoto County and Motorcycle officer. She is survived by her daughter, Glyndell Aycock, who cared for her; three grandchildren, Deborah Hunt, Ramona Gore and Raymond Aycock Jr.; and three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
