GREENVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for Rachel Clark Wells, 78, of Greenville are pending at Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville. She died June 1, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.
Adams
GREENVILLE -- Funeral services for John Lucas "Jack" Adams, 74, of Greenville, a riverboat pilot, were Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. He died of heart failure Dec. 20, 2001, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery, Thomastown.
He was born in Attala County and was a riverboat pilot.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Beatrice Adams of Greenville; two daughters, Jackie Elaine Adams and Tracy Lynn Adams, both of Greenville; four sons, David Ray Adams of Atlanta, Ga., Ronnie Wayne Adams of Pine Bluff, Ark., John Dale Adams of Dallas, Texas, and John Adams Jr. of Ponotoc; three sisters, Doris Ingalls of Florida, Judy Prince of Texas and Gertrude Khalaf of Houston, Texas; and one brother, Joseph Adams of Missouri.
The Rev. Neal Cordell officiated.
Causey
SUNFLOWER -- Funeral services for Joe A. Causey, 61, of Sunflower, a truck driver, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home Chapel, Greenville. He died of heart failure Dec. 22, 2001, at Grenada Health and Rehab, Grenada. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
He was preceded in death by wife Bettie Causey.
Survivors include a daughter, Myra (Steven) Thomasson, and a son, Thomas Causey, both of Greenville; Two sisters, Lela Dunn and Dorothy Ludken, and one brother, Henry Causey, all of Sunflower; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home. The Rev. Arthur Scott will officiate.
Duckworth
GREENWOOD -- Graveside services for David L. Duckworth, 50, of Greenwood, a retired marine engineer, will be today at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville. He died Dec. 22, 2001, of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Williams & Lord Funeral Home, Greenwood.
He was born in Greenville and employed as an engineer on tugboats on the Mississippi River and Gulf Coast. He was also a commercial diver and a Ford parts manager. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda E. Duckworth of Greenwood; one daughter, Rachel Biggers of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a son, Jay Clark of Clinton Miss.; three cousins, Larry Duckworth and Jimmy Duckworth, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Carol Aljets of Matthews, N.C.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Richard Ellington, Chris Pangburn, Jeffrey Pangburn, Bill Ellington, Sammy Houston and Scott Flemmons.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood.

Faurote
GREENVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for Jerry Faurote, 60, of Greenville are pending at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Dec. 22, 2001, at Regional Medical Center, Memphis.
Hirsch
GREENVILLE -- Funeral services for Dr. Jerome Byron Hirsch Jr., 82, of Greenville, a medical doctor, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Dec. 22, 2001, at the home of his daughter in Pascagoula. Burial will be in the Greenville Jewish Cemetery.
Dr. Hirsch was born in Greenville Jan. 2, 1919, to Jerome and Pearl Rothchild Hirsch. He graduated from Greenville High School and attended Tulane University, where he received his medical degree. Upon graduation, he entered the Army and served as a surgeon in W.W. II, during which time he received a Purple Heart. He practiced general surgery, obstetrics and, later, family medicine for a total of 46 years in Greenville. Dr. Hirsch, an avid hunter and fisherman, was a member of the Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society and was active in the Lions Club for many years.
Dr. Hirsch is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Marie Bianca Hirsch; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jerome Byron Hirsch Sr.; and his brother, Dr. Joseph Rothchild Hirsch of Baton Rouge, La.
Survivors include his wife of five years, Mrs. Viola (Tina) M. Hirsch; his twin daughters, Dr. Catherine P. Hirsch of Pascagoula and Marie, and husband James Richard Smith, of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Dr. Hirsch had a loving extended family that includes Fan Jo Fleischer, Connie Kimball, Catherine Geraci, Virginia Bianca, Nina Kuhn Martin, Michael Kuhn Sr.; and seven grandchildren, Michael Kuhn II, Misty Kuhn, Chris Martin, Lesly Martin, Elizabeth Noble, Greg Shannon and Lindsey Shannon.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Boone-Wells Funeral Home.
Matthews
GREENVILLE -- Graveside services for Albanus R. Matthews Jr., 79, of Greenville, a crew sergeant with the State Tax Commission, will be Wednedsay at noon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville. He died of heart failure Dec. 23, 2001, at the Mumford-Jones Care Center in Kosiusko. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was born in Crueger, Miss., where he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during W.W. II. After his discharge, he returned to Greenwood and has been a resident of Greenville since 1977, where he worked for the State Tax Commission as a crew sergeant at the Greenville Hwy. 82 scales, retiring in 1982. For the past several months, he had been a resident of the Kosiusko VA nursing home. He was a member of Blackhawk Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and was a very active member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Brashears Matthews of Greenville; two daughters, Ann M. Turner of Greenwood and Julie Matthews of Meridian; three sons, Jimmy Matthews of Oxford, Mickey Matthews of Greenwood and Larry Kimberling of Bradford, Ark.; two sisters, Sarah Lancaster of Greenville and Leslie Holtz of Knoxville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Boone-Wells Funeral Home.

GREENVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for Alberta Booker, 93, of Greenville, are pending at Dillon Funeral Home, Greenville. She died Nov. 28, 2001, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.
Chew
GREENVILLE -- Funeral services for Nathaniel Chew Sr., 78, of Greenville, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Hope First Baptist Church, Greenville. He died Nov. 24, 2001, at his home. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.
Nathaniel Chew Sr. was born on Dec. 5, 1922, the fourth child of the late Leroy and Terry Bohannon Chew in Benoit, Miss. He grew up in the Stringtown Community and attended Bolivar County school. He served in World War II for two years. In 1945, he moved to Greenville, Miss., with his family, and received training in his life occupation where he was a carpenter. He was employed by Bostick Brothers until he retired on March 31, 1998. On Oct. 3, 1948, he married Amanda Johnson, and this union was blessed with 11 children. In the summer of 1955, on a Wednesday night, Nathaniel Chew Sr. accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and Lord and was baptized at New Hope First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. H.H. Humes. He was an active usher and deacon until his health failed. He was a Mason.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Quinize Perry Chew and Gregory King Chew; three brothers, P.Z. Chew, Leroy Chew Jr. and Henry Chew; and two sisters, Daisy Lee Chew King and James Ethel Chew Hines.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Amanda Bell Johnson Chew of Greenville; three sons, Quinnie Perry Chew, Nathaniel (Mildred) Chew Jr., and Don Anthony Chew, all of Greenville; six daughters, Dorothy A. Bolden of Memphis, and Lois J. Nash, Geraldine (Eddie) Richardson, Demetris (S.B.) Buck, Amanda Terrie Chew and Carristine Glasco, all of Greenville; two sisters, Emma Chew Tinson of Greenville and Clara Chew Hunt of New York, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Lucille Green of San Diego; one brother-in-law, Willie J. Johnson of Los Angeles; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. The remains will lie in state at the church Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m.
The Rev. Robert E. Kimble will officiate.
Jackson
CLEVELAND -- Funeral services for LeJuan Terrell Jackson, 19, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Cleveland, will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Church, Cleveland. He died Nov. 24, 2001, at Carlton Methodist Hospital, Dallas. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Cleveland, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.
Survivors include his mother, Audrey Jackson (Ernell) Webb of Cleveland; father, James (Denise) Madison of Dallas; one brother, Frederick Jackson of Cleveland; two sisters, Andra Webb and Mandy Webb, both of Cleveland; and grandparents, Joseph and Bessie Jackson of Mound Bayou.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland. The body will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Johnson
ANGUILLA -- Funeral services for Lucinda P. Johnson, 72, of Anguilla, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Christian Light MB Church, Anguilla. She died Nov. 26, 2001, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Vicks Cemetery, Anguilla, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.
Survivors include one son, Burley Johnson Jr. of Chicago; one daughter, Annie Mae (Jerry) Collins of Chicago; one sister, Mary K. Hunt of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 6 p.m. at Adell Walker Memorial Chapel, Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.

GUNNISON -- Funeral services for Sam Otis Leaks Sr., 77, of Gunnison, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Church, Gunnison. He died Nov. 27, 2001, at his home. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.
Survivors include nine sons, Leetonie Leaks of San Francisco, Sam Leaks Jr., Everette Leaks, Raymond Leaks and Leon Leaks, all of Gunnison, Phillip Leaks of Memphis, Lonzo Leaks of Decatur, Ill., Odell Leaks Scott of Chicago and Leetonie Scott of North Carolina; four daughters, Rosetta Ingram of Decatur, Ill., and Pearline Sterling, Bertha Leaks and Lottie Leaks, all of Gunnison; four brothers, Joseph Leaks and Fletcher Leaks, both of St. Louis, Mo., George Leaks of West Memphis, Ark., and Lavon Jackson of Pace; one uncle, George Adolf of Memphis; and 40 grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m., with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Shelby. The body will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
