CLEVELAND — Funeral services for Willie B. Greer, 48, of Garland, Texas, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Vernon Memorial Church, Cleveland. He died March 27, 2002, in Dallas, Texas. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery, Cleveland, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Long of Dorchester, Maine, Karen Long of Cambridge, Mass., and Jayla Johnson of Cleveland; six brothers, Tommy Ray Greer of Killeen, Texas, Woodrow Greer of Cleveland, James Greer, Albert Greer and Charles Greer, all of Jackson, and Dexter Greer of San Antonio; six sisters, Selress Moss of Garland, Texas, Shirley Williams, Darlene Cooley and Thelma White, all of Dallas, and Idella Brooks and Josephine Mannings, both of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Elder William Cummings will officiate.

Hudson

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Oscar Hudson, 72, of Greenville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Shady Grove North MB Church, Greenville. He died April 1, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Winterville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hudson of Greenville; one daughter, Veronica Hudson of Chicago; and three grandchildren, Trynda L. Lynk, Aletra D. Peaches and John E. Peaches, all of Chicago.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

The Rev. W.J. Hall will officiate.

Laurence

ROSEDALE — Funeral services for Lavearn "Miss Kitty" Laurence, 58, of Rosedale will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Riverside United Baptist Church, Rosedale. She died March 30, 2002, at Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland. Burial will be in Pleasant Green Church Cemetery, Rosedale, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Rosedale.

Maranto

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Salvadore A. Maranto, 75, of Hot Springs, Ark., and formerly of Greenville will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greenville. He died of cancer April 3, 2002, at his residence. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mr. Maranto was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Arcola, Miss., the son of the late Angelo and Louise Maranto. He lived most of his life in Greenville before moving to Hot Springs, where he had lived for nine years. He was the founder of Janitors' Supply & Paper Co., and Port City Janitor's Supply & Paper Co., and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served on St. Joseph School Board, St. Joseph Church Parish Council, board member of Greenville Golf & Country Club, and was an usher for St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hot Springs, Ark. His wife, Ginger Criddle Maranto, and one son, Alfred Maranto, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Maranto of Hot Springs, Ark.; sons Mickey (Carol) Maranto and Donnie (Carol Ann) Maranto, both of Greenville, Dr. Greg (Jo Beth) Maranto of Meridian and Mark (Linda) Maranto of Greenville; daughters Melanee (Ron) Adams of Pine Bluff, Ark., Sue (Ed) King of Greenville, Mimi (David) Hughes of Greenville and Phoebe Maranto of Hot Springs, Ark.; sister Rose Ann Turfitt of Greenville; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home, with prayer service at 7 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Ronnie Adams Jr., Trey Smith, Michael Maranto, David Hughes Jr., Matt Maranto, Brad Adams, Wes Adams and Stephen Maranto. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruno Tubertini, Dave Sherman, Eli Shapley, Frank Terracina, Jimmy Lang, Bill Batson, David "Brother" Etheridge, Ernest McKinney, Mike Boyle and Frank Janous.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude or St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mister

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Barbara Renae Mister, 36, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship MB Church, Greenville. She died March 31, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include her mother, Sarah M. Watson of Greenville; her father, Leroy (Earline) Smith Sr. of North Chicago; four sisters, Kimberly (Chris) Mister and Erica (Maurice) Watson, both of Greenville, and Valerie Daniel and Brenda Blackmon, both of Zion, Ill.; three brothers, Jerry (Nakia) Mister of Greenville, and Leroy (Bobbie) Smith Jr. and Steven Smith, both of North Chicago; her paternal grandfather, Henry Smith of Greenville; 11 uncles; and six aunts.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. Repast will be at Alpha Temple Masonic Lodge, 505 Belle Aire St.

The Rev. Frank Hall will officiate.

Narmour

INDIANOLA — Funeral services for Marguerite Shawblosky Narmour, 87, of Indianola, a homemaker, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola. She died April 3, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery.

She was a resident of Mississippi Care Center in Greenville, where she was chosen Mrs. Nursing Home of Mississippi in 1997. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Eula Downs Shawblosky; her husband, Claude E. Narmour; one son, Billy E. Narmour; one sister, Helen Murphey; and two brothers, Joseph Shawblosky and Frank Shawblosky.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Narmour Kious of Ocean Springs and Claudette Narmour Skelton of Greenville; two sisters, Kathryn Drake of Bartlett, Tenn., and Jean Denson of Eufaula, Ala.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

Washington

GUNNISON — Funeral services for Annie B. Washington, 86, of Gunnison will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mercy Seat Church, Perthshire. She died March 29, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery, Gunnison, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Washington of Decatur, Ill., Tommie Washington of Gunnison and James Washington of Los Angeles; and one daughter, Hattie Jones of Gunnison.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

The Rev. Levon Jackson will officiate.

Whitlatch

ROLLING FORK — Funeral services for Elise L. Whitlatch, 95, of Rolling Fork, a retired nurse's aide, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home chapel, Rolling Fork. She died April 3, 2002, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital, Rolling Fork. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Rolling Fork.

She was a native of Fulton, Ky., and lived in Rolling Fork for the past 45 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Whitlatch Sr.; one son, Walter E. Whitlatch Jr.; and one daughter, Mary Sue Hale.

Survivors include one son, Charles Whitlatch of Hudson, N.C.; four daughters, Josephine Lofton of Gladewater, Texas, Dorothy Hale of Camden, Ark., and Oleita Stuart and Juanita Martin, both of Rolling Fork; and 31 grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Rev. Millard L. Caulder and the Rev. Reese Kyzar will officiate.

Berry

BELZONI -- Funeral services for Hurry Lee Berry, 59, of Belzoni will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at White Star MB Church, Belzoni. She died of heart failure Nov. 23, 2001, at Sharkey Issaquena Hospital, Rolling Fork. Burial will be in Humphreys County Memorial Gardens, Belzoni, under the direction of Delta Burial Funeral Home, Belzoni.

She was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Belzoni. She graduated from Humphreys County High School.

Survivors include her mother, Nettie Unger of Belzoni; three sons, Dwaine Berry, Roddy Berry and Reginald Berry, all of Belzoni; two sisters, Gloria Unger and Geraldine Jones, both of Milwaukee; three brothers, Roy Lee Unger of Greenwood, Henry Unger of Belzoni and R.C. Harris of Gary, Ind.; one niece, Doris W. Reed of Belzoni; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Rev. Donald Washington will officiate.

Carey

BILOXI -- Graveside services for Peggy L. Carey, 76, of Biloxi, will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. She died Nov. 28, 2001, in Biloxi. Burial will be under the direction of Riemann Funeral Homes Inc., Biloxi.

She was a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for 30 years; a former member of the Elks Club; a former resident of Greenville; and a retired bookkeeper for GMAC.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Sam Carey and B.B. Minton Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Sonny Minton of Biloxi and B.B. Minton of Ocean Springs; one daughter, Cindy Huffstickler of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Roy Friend of Dickenson, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of the South, 4803 Harrison Circle, Gulfport, Miss. 39507.
