HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Clyde Atkins, 58, of Chicago and formerly of Hollandale will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church, Delta City. He died Feb. 6, 2003, at his home. Burial will be in Canney Cemetery, Delta City, under the direction of Sanders-Byas Funeral Home, Hollandale.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosetta Hooks of Chicago and Margaret Weatherspoon of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Geraldine Atkins of Hollandale and Ida B. Atkins of Los Angeles; eight brothers, Leo Atkins of Hollandale, Vernon Atkins of Glen Allan, William Atkins of Haines City, Fla., Harris Atkins and Joe Louis Atkins, both of Pompano Beach, Fla., Jessie Atkins of Aluche, Fla., William Atkins Jr. of Chicago and Bobby Joe Atkins of Los Angeles; a special cousin, Essie (Rosie) Atkins of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Rev. Willie Cotton will officiate.

Bunton

MAYERSVILLE — Funeral services for Julia Olivia Richardson Bunton, 63, of Mayersville will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill MB Church, Mayersville. She died Feb. 9, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital, Rolling Fork. Burial will be in St. Peter Church Cemetery, Mayersville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

The Rev. W.C. Wallace will officiate.

Byas

GREENWOOD — Funeral arrangements for Gloristean Byas, 62, of Greenwood are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Indianola. She died Feb. 11, 2003, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood.

Carter

LELAND — Funeral services for Gladys Wigley Carter, 90, of Leland, a retired purchasing agent, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. She died of heart failure Feb. 12, 2003, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville.

She was born in Attala County and lived in Leland most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leland, and was past president of the Leland Garden Club. She was a retired purchasing agent for Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Alice Falkenstein, and her husbands, Percy Leroy Hodges and John B. Carter.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Percy Hodges of Leland; one sister, Ada Jean Edwards of Pekin, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lynn Falkenstein Schauff of Parsons, Kan., Julie Falkenstein Martin of Kansas City, Kan., and Scott Allen Falkenstein of Chanute, Kan.; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

The Rev. Robert Chason will officiate.

Dean

HOLLY RIDGE — Funeral services for Clarence Dean, 65, of Holly Ridge will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer MB Church, Leland. He died Feb. 10, 2003, in Sunflower County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Burial will be in Holly Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Frye Funeral Home, Leland.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory one son, Clarence Dean Jr.; one daughter, Keisha Dean of Indianola; one brother, Eugene Dean of Leland; and several other family members and many friends.

The Rev. William Harvey will officiate.

Evans

ROSEDALE — Funeral services for Bobby Calvin Evans, 32, of Rosedale will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church, Rosedale. He died Feb. 5, 2003, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Rosedale, under the direction of Bea's Century Funeral Home, Rosedale.

Survivors include four sisters, Elizabeth Tucker (Elyson) and Lee Ethel Evans (Ricky), both of Rosedale, Almeter Walker (J.C.) of Gunnison and Shalinda Ford (Jerry) of Greenville; four brothers, Louis Charles (Eddie B.) and Johnnie Gadison (Jackie), both of Rosedale, and Willie Lloyd (Debbie) and Ulcee Evans (Bessie), both of Gunnison; one uncle, John D. Evans (Pearlie Mae) of Chicago; four aunts, Josephine Butler, Annie B. Moore and Nan Lee Rice, all of Rosedale, and Evelyn Evans of Gunnison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family hour will be Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Bea's Century Funeral Home, Rosedale.

The Rev. L.J. Mapps will officiate.

Gilmore

MOUND BAYOU — Funeral arrangements for Ethel Gilmore, 65, of Mound Bayou are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Cleveland. She died Feb. 12, 2003, at Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland.

Jones

SHELBY — Funeral services for Willie B. Jones, 89, of Shelby will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew MB Church, Shelby. She died Feb. 11, 2003, in Shelby. Burial will be in Zion Grove Cemetery, Shelby, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

She is survived by one son whom she raised, Ricco Jones of Alma, Ark., and many friends and relatives.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at J.H. Hank Chapel of Byas Funeral Home, Shelby.

The Rev. Eugene Anderson will officiate.

March

HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Elizabeth Williams March, 85, of Chicago Heights, Ill., and formerly of Hollandale will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Church of God, Hollandale. She died Feb. 9, 2003, at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Hollandale, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Hollandale.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Williams and Elder Evans March; and two sons, Samuel Williams and Tommy Williams.

Survivors include nine daughters, Dorothy (Eddie) Gaines of Alto, Mich., Luevenia Williams and Mary Lee (Freddy) Venson, both of Hollandale, Ida Mae (Walter) of Kankakee, Ill., Alice (Lee) Royal and Barbara Williams, both of Chicago, Mattie (Willie) Williams of Greenville, Gloria Shorter of Maywood, Ill., and Shirley (Henry) Spruill of Bellwood, Ill.; three sons, John (Pearlie) Williams of Auburndale, Fla., Archie (Lula) Williams of Greenville and George (Monica) Williams of Jackson; 45 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Acoff and Rosie L. Chilous, both of Hollandale, and Lillian Steel of Indianapolis; and four brothers, David Young of Chicago, Harry Young of Yazoo City, and L.T. Young and Booker T. Young, both of Hollandale.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville.

Bishop Nathaniel Bell will officiate.

ROLLING FORK — Funeral arrangements for Freddie Lee Powell Sr., 38, of Rolling Fork are pending at Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork. He died Feb. 9, 2003, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital, Rolling Fork.

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Dorothy Stokes, 74, of Greenville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter MB Church, Greenville. She died Feb. 8, 2003, at her home. Burial will be in Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include two sons, Danny (Lori) Stokes of Atlanta, Ga., and Carl W. Stokes of Greenville; five daughters, Betty Lue Moering, Jewell Norris and Frances Casteele, all of Greenville, and Mary (Walter) Branch and Margaret Stokes, both of Memphis; four stepchildren, Riley Stokes Jr. of Australia, Dan Mitchell Waren of Robins, Ga., Corine Hubbard of New Orleans and Earnestine Hubbard of Chicago; three brothers, Roy Robinson, Charles Robinson and Marcc Robinson, all of Memphis; two sisters, Lucille (James) Ellis of Memphis and Lorine Robinson of Houston, Texas; 35 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville. Family hour will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Sisson Chapel of Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.

HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Rosa Mae Vallery, 75, of Hollandale will be Saturday at noon at St. Luke MB Church, Hollandale. She died Feb. 8, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Luke MB Church Cemetery, Hollandale, under the direction of Sanders-Byas Funeral Home, Hollandale.

Survivors include four sons, Earl (Dorothy) Vallery, James (Sherry) Vallery, the Rev. Lee (Shirley) Vallery and the Rev. Leon (Rosalyn) Vallery, all of Hollandale; five daughters, Lula Bell of Delta City, Margie Royster of Jacksonville, Ark., and Vivian (Willie) Winston, Angela (Cleo) Brockman and Daisy (Rufus) Stafford, all of Hollandale; six brothers, Leon (Sophia) Kellum, William (Josie) Kellum and Charles Kellum, all of Chicago, and Sherrod (Rose) Kellum, Curt (Linda) Kellum and Jessie Kellum, all of Greenville; six sisters, Letha Lindsey of Chicago, Rosie D. Jackson and Claudette (J.C.) McCarter, both of St. Louis, Mo., Virgie (Edward) Harris of St. Louis, Ill., and Nancy (Willie) Strickland and Addruss (Raymond) Young, both of Houston, Texas; 40 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Sanders-Byas Funeral Home, Hollandale. Family hour will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at T.R. Sanders Chapel at Sanders-Byas Funeral Home, Hollandale.

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Sandra "Faye" Griffin Wells, 28, of Greenville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest MB Church, Greenville. She died Feb. 9, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Wells of Greenville; three sons, Shaquobe Jamarie Wells, Desmann Nyktt Wells and Joekwaris Wells, all of Greenville; her mother, Jeanette Taylor of Greenville; her father, Sammie L. Evans Sr. of Greenville; five brothers, Robert Griffin of New Jersey, Phillip Eric Evans Vaughn, Ricky Carter and Sammie Evans Jr., all of Greenville, and Merrill Evans of San Diego; four sisters, Patricia Evans of North Korea and Jamellah Williams, Courtney Evans and Samdricka Evans, all of Greenville; and her maternal grandmother, Maggie Griffin of Greenville.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home chapel, Greenville. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Pastor A.M. Hines is pastor of the church. The Rev. Theo Sutton will officiate.

Wright

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Luther Wright Sr., 74, of Greenville are pending at Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Feb. 11, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.
