Garrett

CLEVELAND — Funeral services for Earnest "Big Mama" McCullough Garrett, 86, of Cleveland and formerly of Gunnison will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cleveland. She died Aug. 11, 2003, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, under the direction of Thweatt-King Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Mrs. McCullough was retired from AMCO in Rosedale, Miss. She was a member of Eastern Star and Immanuel Baptist Church. She attended Gunnison High School. She was chairperson of the hospitality committee at Immanuel Baptist Church, and was a member of the Senior Citizen's Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Guy Garrett, and her son, Doyle Ray Garrett.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Fay Moore of Cleveland; one son, Richard Garrett of Benoit; one sister, Ruth Riddle of Pocahontas, Ark.; six grandchildren, Carl Guy Moore, Bobbie Fay Lea, Lisa Ann Davidson, Ricky Garrett, Sara Garrett and Patti Gordon; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thweatt-King Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1300 Lamar St., Cleveland, MS 38732.

Harris

ROLLING FORK — Funeral services for Larry Harris, 54, of Rolling Fork will be today at 10 a.m. at Church of God of Prophecy, Rolling Fork. He died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Valley Park. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Rolling Fork, under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.

Mr. Harris was born in Houston, Miss. He had been a longtime resident of Rolling Fork. He was employed by Staplecotn of Rolling Fork. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Rolling Fork.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Clark Harris of Rolling Fork; one son, Curt Harris of Rolling Fork; two daughters, Jennifer Willis and Kim Wigley, both of Rolling Fork; his mother, Lennie Harris of Rolling Fork; five brothers, R.L. Harris and Melvin Harris, both of Arkansas, Melton Harris of Natchez, Jimmy Harris of Southaven and Jessie Harris of Rolling Fork; six sisters, Hazel Hawkins of Tupelo, Linda Simmons of Lula, Nell Carter of Grenada, Doris Pierce of Natchez, Betty Beliew of Hollandale and Faye Tennhit of Arkansas City, Ark.; and 8 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Perry, Ricky Yarbrough, Eddie Holcomb, Larry Franklin, James Clark and Bill Newsom. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Thomas, Daniel Goss, Ellis Screws, Guy Williams and Robert Barfield.

Ministers will be the Rev. Jim Nedecott, the Rev. Jimmy Bivens and the Rev. Paul Cook.

King

GREENVILLE — Funeral arrangements for Albirdie King, 86, of Greenville are pending at Harris, Brown & Marion Funeral Home, Greenville. She died Aug. 12, 2003, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.

McCraney

MOORHEAD — Funeral services for James Winford "Monkey" McCraney, 81, of Moorhead, a retired mechanic, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Card Funeral Home, Indianola. He died Aug. 11, 2003, at South Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola. Burial will be in Moorhead Cemetery.

Mr. McCraney was a retired mechanic for the city of Moorhead.

Survivors include two daughters, Missy Forrest of Moorhead and Julie Coker of Gore Springs; one son, Winford "Wimp" McCraney of Grenada; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, Indianola.

Turner

SUNFLOWER — Funeral services for Julia Bell Turner, 83, of Sunflower, a homemaker, will be Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Persimmon Grove MB Church, Sunflower. She died Aug. 11, 2003, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood. Burial will be in Willing Worker Cemetery, Sunflower, under the direction of Delta Burial Corporation, Belzoni.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Russell Jr. of Indianola and Walter Russell of Sunflower; 14 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and three daughters-in-law, Earnest J. Russell, Clara J. Russell and Dorothy Clayton.

The Rev. Terry Cobbs will officiate.

Benjamin

ANGUILLA — Funeral services for Eula Mae Benjamin, 89, of Anguilla will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christian Light MB Church, Anguilla. She died of heart failure April 7, 2002, at Sharkey Issaquena Hospital, Rolling Fork. Burial will be in Section Cemetery, Anguilla, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Belzoni.

Mrs. Benjamin was a retired custodian with Anguilla Consolidated Schools.

Survivors include one son, Fred Cole of Pensacola, Fla.; and one daughter, Doris Stubbs of Anguilla.

Visitation will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home chapel, Belzoni.

The Rev. Frank Bailey will officiate.

Carter

ROLLING FORK — Funeral arrangements for Kendric Orlando "Ko Ko" Carter, 5 months, of Rolling Fork are pending at Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork. He died April 5, 2002, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson.

Downs

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Juanita Pinnix Downs, 76, of Greenville, a sterile technician, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Riverport Baptist Church, Greenville. She died of heart failure April 8, 2002, at River Regional Hospital, Vicksburg. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mrs. Downs was born in Drew, Miss., where she received her education. She has been a resident of Greenville since 1958, and was employed at General Hospital (now Delta Regional Medical Center) for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Downs, in 1994. She was a member of Riverport Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jim Downs Jr. of Greenville; two granddaughters, Brittany Turner and Beverly Downs, both of Greenville; three grandsons, Paul Oswalt of Lake Village, Ark., Todd Oswalt of Macon, Ga., and Jeremy Turner of Greenville; two great-granddaughters, Shana Scucchi and Amy Oswalt, both of Lake Village, Ark.; one great-grandson, Bryant Oswalt of Macon, Ga.; and one sister, Laudis Costa of Denver, Colo.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home.

Dumas

INVERNESS — Funeral arrangements for Charles Dumas, 79, of Inverness are pending at Byas Funeral Home, Indianola. He died April 7, 2002, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Greenwood.

Hill

SILVER CITY — Funeral services for Adline Hill, 96, of Silver City, a retired farmer, will be Saturday at noon at Little Mt. Zion MB Church, Silver City. She died of heart failure April 5, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in Little Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Midnight, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Belzoni.

Survivors include five daughters, Adline Hill and Louise Johnson, both of Chicago, and Earnestine Hill, Lucille Hill and Carutha Moore, all of Silver City.

Visitation will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home chapel, Belzoni.

The Rev. C.W. Ray will officiate.

McNair

PHILADELPHIA — Funeral services for Frank McNair, 84, of Philadelphia, a retired dairy farmer, will be today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home chapel, Philadelphia. He died April 8, 2002, at Neshoba County General Hospital, Philadelphia. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union.

Robinson

ROLLING FORK — Funeral arrangements for Edward G. Robinson, 56, of East St. Louis, Ill., and formerly of Rolling Fork are pending at Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork. He died April 4, 2002, in East St. Louis.

Battle

SILVER CITY — Funeral services for Richard Earl Battle, 53, of Silver City, a farmer, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Christian Valley MB Church, Silver City. He died of heart failure June 2, 2002, at King's Daughters Hospital, Yazoo City. Burial will be in Humphreys County Memorial Garden, Belzoni, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Belzoni.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Thomas of Chicago; two brothers, Joseph Battle of Detroit and Eugene Battle of Gary, Ind.; and two sisters, Margaret Wolf of Chicago and Lillie King of Detroit.

Visitation will be today from noon to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Belzoni. The body will lie in state at Christian Valley MB Church from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Rev. N. Watson will officiate.

Brooks

ITTA BENA — Funeral services for Carrie Bell Brooks, 46, of Itta Bena will be Saturday at noon at Tabernacle Church, Itta Bena. She died June 4, 2002, at her home. Burial will be in True Vine Church Cemetery, Itta Bena, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Indianola.

Survivors include her father, Robert Brooks of Itta Bena; one son, Patrick Brooks of Itta Bena; two daughters, Tracy Brooks and Denise Brooks, both of Itta Bena; four brothers, Robert Brooks Jr., Henry Brooks and Larry Brooks, all of Itta Bena, and Jimmie L. Brooks of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Eloise Brooks of Itta Bena, and Susie Ford and Geraldine Fork, both of Moorhead; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hayes Chapel of Byas Funeral Home, Indianola.

The Rev. T.L. Martin will officiate.

Buchanan

INDIANOLA — Funeral services for Katherine Hodges McDonald Buchanan, 77, of Indianola, a health caregiver, will be today at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Indianola. She died June 5, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben McDonald; and her second husband, Buck Buchanan.

Survivors include three daughters, Eddie Katherine Thompson of Indianola, Deborah M. Crowder of Winona and Sue Ellen Moore of Tupelo; one son, Pete McDonald of Hattiesburg; four sisters, Erlene Sullivan of Kanakee, Ill., Bernice Bishop of Charleston, Miss., Ruth Box of Yazoo City and Mary Jo Langley of Clarksdale; two brothers, Herbert Hodges of Greenville and Tom Hodges of Long Beach, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
