Anthony J. 'Tony' Kraft
MOLT - Anthony J. "Tony" Kraft passed away April 13, 1999, at Evergreen Laurel Health and Rehab Center in Laurel. Tony was born Feb. 6, 1921, to Joseph and Elizabeth Kraft in Pittsburgh, Pa. Tony, formerly of Pittsburgh, had currently been a resident of Molt.
Tony was a retired Port Authority bus driver. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 118 in Millvale, Pa., as well as a member of the V.F.W. Post 3177 in Laurel. Tony was also a member of the Laurel Senior Citizen Center.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bauer Kraft. Tony is survived by his children: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pozzi of Molt; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kraft of Beacon, N.Y.; and Miss Kimberly Kraft of Beacon.
Cremation has taken place. Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel was in charge of arrangements. No Services are planned at this time.

Charles J. May
SARPY - Charles J. May, 68, Sarpy area rancher, passed away Monday evening, April 12, 1999, in the St. Vincent Medical Center.
He was born July 31, 1930, in Hardin, a son of Albert and Delia Palmer Fly May. He attended schools in Hardin, the Wolf Country School and Hardin High School. Following his education, he worked for area ranchers.
Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served three years in Korea and Japan, which included a Truman extended year as a 1st Sergeant, and received his Honorable Discharge at Fort Riley, Kan., in 1952.
He married Virginia Haveman on Sept. 10, 1953, in Myers and the couple made their home on the family ranch in the Sarpy area. He was a member of the Hysham Community Presbyterian Church. He had been an active member of the Little Horn Bank Board of Trustees since 1984. He loved to visit and play cards.
Charles was a dedicated rancher and loved the land he lived and worked upon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Rupe.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Della (Gary) Ruff of Custer, Monica (Bob) Redland of Hysham and Jo Ann May of Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Jean (Albert) Newman of Ingomar and Bobby (Don) Hagerman of Billings; and two grandchildren, Jon and Jenny Redland.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Montana Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1242 N. 28th St., No. 1003, Billings, MT 59101.

Vernon Lyle Badgley
BROADWATER, Neb. - Vernon Lyle Badgley, age 79, of Broadwater, died at home March 30, 1999.
Vernon was born on a homestead in Eastern Montana on Dec. 8, 1919. His family moved to Billings, when he was 3. He attended Billings High School until his family moved to Santa Maria, Calif., in 1937. He graduated from Santa Maria Union High School and attended Santa Maria Junior College where he majored in airplane mechanics.
Vernon proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps throughout World War II in India and postwar Germany. From 1946 to 1949 he was a partner in a furniture and war surplus store in Grand Coulee, Wash., before re-enlisting in the Air Force and serving in Korea where he was commended for bravery. Vernon had lived in Palo Alto, Calif.; Wenatchee, Wash.; and Lodgepole before moving to Broadwater.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his sister, Milola Mae; and his brother, Norman. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Dale Badgley of Sutter Creek, Calif., Bill Badgley of Dayton, Wyo.; Roberta Wachsmuth of Mountain View, Calif., and Beth Badgley of Palo Alto. He also will be missed by four caring nephews and four nieces.
Memorial services will be in Bozeman, Mont., at Dokken-Nelson Chapel, Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m.

Dorothy Irene 'Dottie' Bentz
Dorothy Irene "Dottie" Bentz, 76, passed away at home, Sunday, April 11, 1999, from a heart attack.
She was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Missoula, the daughter of Charles and Alice Mathka. After graduating from Missoula County High School she worked as a secretary for Huffs Teachers Agency. In later years she was a devoted wife and expert seamstress.
In 1944 she married Chris Bentz and they lived in Missoula until moving to Billings in 1976 to watch their grandchildren reach maturity. These were the most special years of her life.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Chris; a brother, Jack Mathka of Riverside, Calif.; her daughter, Sandy Mehus and her husband, Jerry of Billings; and three grandchildren, grandson, Chris and his wife, Tami, granddaughter, Brenda Rivera and her husband, Joe, and grandson, Brian.
Dottie had a deep attachment and commitment to her prayer group and was a blessing to those who loved her for her positive outlook on life.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life and of the Lord's love will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Private family interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Youth Group.

Marlene B. Amundsen
JOLIET - Marlene B. Amundsen, 81, of Joliet, passed away Friday, May 28, 1999 at Evergreen Care Center in Laurel.
A daughter of Melvin and Jessie Johnson she was born on June 14, 1917, on the Johnson homestead two miles southeast of Joliet. When she was a child her family settled in Joliet where she has resided her entire life. Marlene graduated from Joliet High School and later attended Billings Business College.
Mrs. Amundsen worked at Joliet High School as a secretary, assembly supervisor, girls basketball coach, and occasionally substitute taught business classes. She was also employed at Yellowstone Bank in Laurel.
On March 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to Cliff Amundsen of Joliet. They raised three children, Weldon, Sharon and Clifford.
Marlene loved to bowl, go camping, and attend high school sporting events. She also played the piano at Joliet Lutheran Church for several years, and belonged to the Ladies Aid.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Gladys Elaine, her father in 1952, and her mother in 1958.
Survivors include her husband, Cliff Amundsen of Joliet; son, Weldon and his wife Janine; daughter, Sharon and her husband, Duane Richardson; son, Cliff and his wife Doreen; and brother, Joel and his wife, Leota Johnson. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, in Joliet Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Joliet cemetery, with Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Joliet Lutheran Church or to the charity of one's choice.

Hannah Michelle Diebert
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Hannah Michelle Diebert, age 83 of Bellingham passed away May 27, 1999 at St. Francis Extended Health Care. Mrs. Diebert was born June 7, 1915 in Montana to Cornelius and Theresa (Lehman) Michel. She came to Whatcom County in 1956 and was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed music and playing the organ, bowling, outdoor gardening and walking and reading. Her greatest joy came from playing with her grandchildren who she loved very much. She married Leo Diebert in Billings June 1948. Hannah and Leo owned and operated a grocery store for 24 years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Hannah is survived by her husband, Leo of the family home; three sons: Larry Diebert of Bellingham, Marvin Diebert and his wife Sarah of Vancouver, Wash., and Donald Diebert and his wife Linda of Colorado; one brother, John Michel of Montana; four sisters: Mary Essman of Montana, Elizabeth Prank of Laurel, Minnie Frank and Theresa Skaar of Billings; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Brown, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Assumption Catholic Church followed by burial in the Ten Mile cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Jerns Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the National Federation of the Blind of Washington, P. 0. Box 2148, Bothell, WA 98041-2148. The arrangements and services are under the direction of the Jerns Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Bellingham.

George Holecek
LAUREL - George Holecek, 97, died December 25, 1998, at the Laurel Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 97.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel with inurnment in Rockvale cemetery.

Marie Anna Huth
"A stitch in time saves nine" was one saying that Marie Huth appreciated. As an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook, Marie spent most of her time helping her family and caring for all. Although she never married , she always considered her niece and nephew, Marilynn and John, "her children, " and she automatically became "another grandmother" to their children. When she was not designing a wedding gown or finishing a new craft, she was creating new styles and trinkets for her family.
Marie Huth, of 720 North 32nd Street, was born to John Huth and Rosalie Hack Huth on Jan. 23, 1910, in Stark County, N.D. She died of leukemia at her home on Friday, May 28, 1999. She was the oldest of four children and received her education in Dickinson, N.D. In 1948, she moved to Billings and lived with her sister Rosalie H. Sheard for more than 50 years. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church.
Survivors include Rosalie; her niece, Marilynn and husband, Ron Sexton and their children: Michelle (Brian, Brenden Brethorst), Doug, Laurie (Lance, Tanner Sullivan), and Lisa Host-Hansen; her nephew, John Sheard and his wife, Melvina and his children: Susan (Peter Belschwender) and Michael and Traci Sheard (Kristen, Kobe). Other survivors include Rosemarie and Ray Sartin of Ocean Park, Wash., Bob and Nancy Walery of San Francisco, Calif. and Charlene and Pat Nihil of Billings.
Marie was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Eva and Pete Walery of Salem, Ore., and her niece Amy Marie Sheard. The family would especially like to thank Big Sky Hospice Services for their help.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st., at Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 2nd, at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral with Rite of Committal in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.

Lucille M. LaVelle
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lucille M. LaVelle, 78, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Cremation has taken place. At her request, no memorial will be held. Cremation or Funeral Gallery was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes E. Standish
LODGE GRASS - Agnes E. Standish passed away of natural causes at her home on Rotten Grass Creek, southwest of Lodge Grass on May 27, 1999, at the age of 91.
She was born May 18, 1908 in Aberdeen, Wash., a daughter of Carl and Tekla Moiler Anderson. She grew up, attended schools and college in Aberdeen, Wash.
Agnes married Walfred Bergquist on June 23, 1928, and the couple had two daughters, Lorraine and Joy. Mr. Bergquist died in 1937.
She moved to Lodge Grass in 1938, where she was employed by various stores. Agnes married Dell Standish on Sept. 22, 1948, in Sheridan, Wyo. They became involved in ranching in the Snowy Mountains and on Rotten Grass Creek.
She was a charter member of the Big Horn County Cowbells, Civic Club, Sew and So Club, Grandmothers Club and the Lodge Grass Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included, reading, sewing, music, cooking, gardening and she was actively involved in 4-H for several years.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Dell; her parents; two brothers, Henry and Harold Anderson and a sister, Lilly Burton.
Survivors include her daughters; Lorraine (Edward) Pattyn of Lodge Grass and Joy (Harold) Campbell of Columbus; five grandchildren: Linda Small of Lodge Grass, Della (Michael) Anderson of Ranchester, Wyo., Chris (Sandi) Campbell of Joliet, Edna (Rocky) Nelson of Miles City and Francie (Bob) Fisher of Billings; 10 great-grandchildren: Paula (Len) Plenty, Clinton (Lucinda) Small, Kristy, Amy and Kimberly Fisher, Chance Nelson, Lee, Rebecca and Cayla Campbell; one great-great-grandchild, Sadye Rae Small; three sisters-in-law: Irene Baker of Hardin, Gertrude Anderson of Lodge Grass and Birdie Chandler of Chadron, Neb.
The highlights of her life were her family, ranching with her husband, Dell and their registered cow business. She thoroughly enjoyed following their grandchildren and great-grand-children in 4-H, horse shows, rodeoing and attending their school activities.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Phyllis M. Bruchez
HOBSON - Phyllis M. Bruchez, 64, of Hobson, died Thursday evening at her home in Hobson of lung cancer. Phyllis was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Otis and Fannie Reynolds of Mitchellville, Iowa. She began her education in Colfax and Mitchellville. The family moved to Lewistown in 1946 where her father was an auctioneer at the Lewistown Livestock Market. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and then Fergus High School, graduating in 1953. On Oct. 15, 1965, she was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Bruchez in Lewistown. They made their home in Hobson until the time of her death.
Phyllis was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hobson, American Veterinarian Medical Association, Past Matron of Vesper Chapter No. 83 Order of Eastern Star of Hobson.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Hobson; two daughters, Barbara Perrine of Powell, Wyo., and Deborah Cline of Reno, Nev.; two sons, Larry of Toston and John of Spearfish, S.D.; one sister, C.J. Reynolds of Rockvale, Md.; five grandchildren, Kimberly Child of Cody, Wyo., Toni Perrine of Powell, Jackie Bruchez of Bozeman, Sarah Cline of Reno and Matt Bruchez of Denton; four great-granddaughters, Amber, Haley and Brandy Child, all of Cody, and Hannah Maddox of Powell; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one brother, John O. Reynolds, preceded her in death.
Memorial Services for Phyllis M. Bruchez will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church of Lewistown. Cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may make memorials to the Masonic Home or Vesper Chapter No. 83 O.E.S. and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

Margaret Emily Carver
JOLIET - Margaret Emily Carver, 84, died peacefully Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Cedarwood Villa in Red Lodge.
Margaret attended schools in the area, and after graduating from high school achieved her teaching degree at Eastern Montana College. She also attended Montana State University, studying home economics and electrical drafting. On June 15, 1946, Margaret was united in marriage to Audley M. "Red" Carver in Seattle.
She enjoyed young people and all of their successes. She was a natural teacher and taught many places: Bozeman, Denton, Joliet, Honolulu, Guam, and the Marshall Islands. Margaret retired from teaching in 1961, but continued her service of others by caring for her mother for 19 years. She was also a consultant for the restaurant and hotel industry.
She was a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Starr, Cornelius Hedges #43, where she served as past worthy matron.
Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Audley M. "Red" Carver; her stepson, Audley Joseph Carver, of Irving, Texas; friend, Toshi Gregory, Joliet; and three cousins: Sidney McClintock, Richard McClintock, and Tana Jacobs.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel Red Lodge. Graveside services Wednesday, June 23, 11 a.m. at Rockvale cemetery. Family and friends to meet at cemetery.
