Sally Ann Magnuson Neumiller
HELENA - Sally Ann Magnuson Neumiller got her wings on April 15, 1999. Sally recently turned 50. She fought a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Sally was born on March 8, 1949, in Miles City, to Gus and Pat Magnuson. Sally attended school in Miles City and married Kenneth Neumiller on March 16, 1969, and they lived there until 1979. They moved to Billings in 1979 where Sally worked at Deluxe Check Printers from 1983 to 1989. They moved to Helena in June of 1990. She owned Sally's Sweets and catered until 1996. She also wrote a recipe column for the Independent Record. She took great joy in playing with her grandkids, making crafts, playing piano and going to garage sales.
Sally was a universal mother with a giant heart and her compassion and her caring for others shown through in everything she did. She touched a lot of hearts and she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ken; her parents, Gus and Pat Magnuson; her daughters and their families: Wendy and Wes, Lauren and Kaitlin Stewart of Helena, Kendra and Quinn Ness of Helena, and Angie Neumiller and her fiancÈ, Ryan Bahnmiller and his son, Reed, all of Helena; her sisters, Sandy Brownfield and her family of Billings, Jill Solomon and her family of Billings, Jane Robertson and her family of Houston, Texas, Nancy Tennant and her family of Gillette, Wyo.; and her brother, Bob Magnuson and his family of Miles City.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Helena at 11 a.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family requests any memorials be given to Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, 1400 Smart, Helena, MT 59601.

Myron L. Yellow Owl
POPLAR - Myron L. Yellow Owl, 39, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Poplar Community Hospital.
Visitation and a wake will be held Sunday, April 18, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at the center with interment in the Poplar City cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Charles E. McCabe
WATFORD CITY, N.D. - Charles E. McCabe, 73, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at the McKenzie County Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, and 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Fulkerson Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Epiphany Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the church with interment in the Schafer cemetery.

Olivia M. Nielsen
SIDNEY - Olivia M. Nielsen, 97, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care Facility.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Pella Lutheran Church with interment in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas Harry Petersen
Thomas Harry Petersen, age 51, passed away Sunday, April 25, 1999, after a valiant battle with lung cancer at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center.
Tom was born June 13, 1947, to Harry and Nellie Petersen in Dennison, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Schleswig, Iowa. Tom worked for 10 years as a salesman for Kar Products and 11 years as parts manager for Cummings Power. In 1982 he married Kathy Holbrook in Billings. Together they had one daughter, Cammie Jo.
Tom enjoyed golfing at Par 3, snowmobiling around Cooke City and speed boating at Cooney Dam, with many friends. He is on his Goldwing in the sky. He took particular pleasure in spending quality time with his grandson, Jeremy. "I miss you, buddy."
Survivors include his parents, Harry F. and Nellie Petersen of Schleswig; his wife, Kathy, daughter, Cammie Jo, grandson, Jeremy Michael, all of the family home in Billings; a sister, Judy (Gayle) Cose of Dennison; two brothers, Jim (Madelyn) Petersen of Farmington, N.M., and Darryl (Joyce) Petersen of Schleswig.
Memorial Mass will be held noon Thursday, April 29, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings. A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Friends are welcome.
Memorials will be distributed to Northern Rockies Cancer Research Center, The American Cancer Society as well as other organizations important to Tom. The family has entrusted Dahl Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.

May Charbonneau
FORESTGROVE - May Charbonneau, 83, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in a Billings hospital of natural causes.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, with interment following in Calvary cemetery. Cloyd Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Harry Corbin
MILES CITY - Harry Corbin, age 80, of Miles City, Mont., passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Harry was born in Berino, N.M., on Sept. 11, 1918, the son of Henry and Louise (Scherrer) Corbin. He attended schools in New Mexico and graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Albuquerque in 1935. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941 and became a B-17 pilot in World War II. He served with the 487th Bombardment Group in England during World War II; the Strategic Air Command, and the 4th Air Commando's in Vietnam. Harry accomplished 238 combat missions. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Bronze Star. He flew many aircraft during his career with the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1967.
Harry married Beverly Powell on Aug. 14, 1943, in Augusta, Ga. To this union, eight children were born. After his retirement from the Air Force, he moved his family to Miles City in 1968. He continued flying for Miles City Aero Service and Northern Tank Lines for many years afterwards. He also worked for many years at the Hook Ranch and F & W Enterprises. He was known in the area as a top cowboy as well as for his flying skills and instruction. Furthermore, he was a loving husband and father.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Louise, Katherine, and Ethel; and a brother, William. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Corbin of Miles City; a brother, Albert Corbin; two sisters: Sister Mary Eudora Corbin and Sister Marion Louise Corbin, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; five daughters: Margaret Knorr and her husband Bill of Medford, Ore., Mary Morris and her husband Howard of Tacoma, Wash., Anne Heiser and her husband Jerry of Shepherd, Mont., Frances Corbin of Miles City, Mont., and Jane Seberger and her husband Tom of Cedar Lake, Ind.; three sons: Robert Corbin and his wife Pat of Ashland, Mont., William Corbin and his wife Peggy of Boise, Idaho, and David Corbin and his wife Kathleen of Scobey, Mont.; grandchildren: Brian, John and Kathy Knorr; Lisa and Steve Wysocki; Jennifer and Leah Smith; Christine and Penny Corbin; Amanda, Melissa, and Emily Seberger; step-grandchildren: Denim Irish; Kevin With, Jodi Wootan; Juanita Robertson; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Harry knew first-hand what strife and hardship was; both here while growing up and in many foreign countries while in the Air Force. He made sure his family didn't experience that kind of life.
Vigil services will be held Tuesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Gil Hemauer- Capuchin officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery,
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Gladys E. Eggenberger
HARLOWTON - Gladys E. Eggenberger, 92, passed away on Monday, April 26, 1999, at Wheatland Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, at 2 p.m., at the Harlowton American Lutheran Church with burial in the Harlowton cemetery. A coffee hour will be held after the service at the Faith Center.
Gladys Emestine Eggenberger (nee Olson) was born on Sept. 5, 1906, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to John Earnest Olson and Alma Matilda Olson (nee Johnson). Gladys grew up in Velva, N.D., Wilsall, Devon and Judith Gap. She graduated from Alvarado High School.
Gladys was the oldest of four sisters and taught school in Montana at Lombard, Buffalo, Judith Gap, Dixon, Harlowton, Two Dot and Shawmut. She went to Moorhead (Minn.) State University for her teaching degree and did postgraduate work at the University of Montana and the state colleges at Dillon and Billings.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary. In the mid 1930s when Gladys was teaching in Harlowton, she met Andy Eggenberger and they were married in Butte June 24, 1935. To this union one son was born, Andrew Jon Eggenberger. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1982.
During World War II, Gladys assisted Andy in the operation of Eggenberger's (or Andy's as it was know) which is now the Cornerstone. After they sold Andy's in 1945, they moved to the tall yellow apartment house above the football field and on Mill Hill. They lived there until 1966 when they moved next door to the HB Meyers house.
During the time she lived on Mill Hill, Gladys continued to teach school and in the 1950's and early 1960's, she taught the upper grade at Two Dot. Later in the 1960s she taught at the Shawmut School. Since 1945 Gladys operated the U.S. Weather Bureau Observation Station in Harlowton. Gladys retired from the Weather Bureau in 1982.
Gladys was a member of and extremely active in the American Lutheran Church. Gladys has been active in the American Legion Auxiliary and is a Past Matron of Primrose Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son Dr. AJ Eggenberger of Arlington, Va.; her sister Rubye 0. Youngblood of Arlington, Va.; and numerous nieces and cousins.
The family asks that any memorials be made to the American Lutheran Church, P0 Box 241, Harlowton, MT 59036.

Frieda Fried
PLEVNA - Frieda Fried, 92, of Plevna, passed away Sunday, April 25, 1999, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Stevenson's Funeral Home in Baker. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, in the Emanuel Evangelical Free Church in Plevna. Burial will be in the Plevna Union cemetery.

Janice May 'Judy' Hall
Janice May "Judy" Hall passed away at her home on Monday, April 26, 1999, following a courageous battle with cancer. She had lived for 72 years.
Judy was born on May 2, 1926 in Madison, Wis., the only child of Linton and Emaline (Temby) Davis. On Feb. 20, 1946, she married Orville Hall in Baraboo, Wis., and together they lived and raised their family in Madison. While Orville drove for the Greyhound Bus Company, Judy worked as an interior decorator for which she received many awards. Prior to their retirement, the Halls built a home in Billings and have resided here since that time. Judy and her husband were members of the Hope Evangelical Church.
Survivors include her husband Orville; a son Greg and his wife Sharon of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a daughter Tamara of Madison; five grandchildren, Nicole and Tonia of Glens Falls, and Taria, Melissa, and Vanessa of Madison; along with four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 29 at the Hope Evangelical Church, 5554 Grand Ave. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Big Sky Hospice in Billings. Smith West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Halland
REDSTONE - Funeral services for Gladys Halland will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28. Pastor David Curtright will officiate at the service at Plentywood Lutheran Church; interment will be in Redstone cemetery. Gladys, 70, died Saturday morning, April 24, at Billings Deaconess Hospital, of complications following heart surgery in March.
Gladys was born at McElroy, Mont., Jan. 22, 1929, the daughter of Peter M. and Bertha (Christensen) Andersen. She started school in the McElroy community before the family moved to Plentywood. Gladys worked in cafes in the community before she married Orville Halland March 12, 1949, at Plentywood Lutheran Church. They lived in Plentywood until they moved to a farm south of Redstone in March 1955. They celebrated their 50th anniversary a few days before she entered the hospital.
Gladys was always busy; taking care of her family, helping Orville with farming and construction activities, playing cards, dancing, and especially working in her yard and flower beds. She loved quilting and needlework; and she and Orville were instrumental in forming the Big Sky Squares square dancing club. She was treasurer of the Wolf Creek Club for many years; and became "mom" to two Brazilian exchange students, Denverson Malta and Homero DePalo, She and Orville loved to travel, visited her "kids" in Brazil, and were among the first Americans allowed to enter China, when they went with a Farm Journal tour, in January 1979.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Orville, of Redstone; and by four sons and their families: Sam, and his wife Linda, of Plentywood, and their children, Toni Yoss and her husband Ray, of Glasgow, and Jeffrey Halland, of Plentywood; Duane and his wife Laura, on the family farm at Redstone, and their children Tim Halland and his wife Michelle, of Williston, David Halland and his fiance Kristy Anderson and her son, Jordan, of Billings; Dale and his wife Tracey, of Billings; and Jim and his wife Tanya, and their daughter Jennifer, of Missoula. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Jeffrey Yoss; by a brother, Don Andersen and his wife Mary, of Hayden, Idaho; and by a sister, Agnes and her husband John Forsyth, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and by a sister-in-law, Deloris and her husband, Jerry Clayburn, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother, Leonard Andersen, and by an infant son, David.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials might be made to the heart association, to Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home, or to the charity of the giver's choice.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

Barbara Bublich
ROUNDUP - Barbara Bublich, 94, passed away on Good Friday evening, April 2, 1999, at the Roundup Memorial Nursing Home. She was born in Croatia April 28, 1904, and came to the United States when she was 16 years old.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved her family very much and would do anything for them. She was an avid gardener, homemaker and crocheted afghans and doilies for all in her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marko and Anna Vranish, husband Marco Bublich, son Leo Miller and daughter Betty Ratkovich, son-in-law Chuck Ratkovich and Stanley Blazina, sister Ellie Sudduth and brothers Frank, Steve and Matt Vranish.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Anne Blazina, Shirley and Ed Ording, son and daughter-in-law John and Marlene Bublich. She is also survived by all her dear grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, her sister Ann Fletcher and brother and sisters-in-law Marko and Donna Vranish, Jo Vranish and Mary Bublich.
Visitation 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, at Wier Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be at Wier Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. with Father Wayne Pittard officiating. Interment in the New Miners cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Benedicts Catholic Church or Roundup Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home or charity of choice. Wier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Goodbye Ma. We love you and we will miss you.

Walter Harry Onion
LODGE GRASS - Walter Harry Onion, 71, one of the original Crow Indian Cowboys, passed away Sunday, April 4, 1999, in the Crow Agency IHS Hospital.
Biiliichiili'ssaash "Not Afraid of Water" was given his Indian name by Chief Plenty Coups. He was born May 4, 1927, in Crow Agency, a son of Pete and Lucy Yarlott Onion. He grew up and attended schools in Crow Agency. His accomplishments were many as his Indian name suggests, he was not afraid to try new adventures. Following his education, he worked for the Kennedy Cattle Company, the Charlie Miller ranch in Wyoming, Kenneth Zettle farm and finally for the Bureau of Indian Affairs irrigation department, retiring in 1993 after 30 years of service. Although he worked for several individuals, he ran his own cattle operation in the Lodge Grass area.
During his younger days, he broke horses and actively participated in rodeos in the saddle bronco event. He enjoyed camping in the Big Horn mountains with his grandfather, Charles Yarlott. He strongly supported traditional Hand Games and Arrow throwing events and enjoyed watching his sons take part in these events. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play basketball.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and received his Honorable Discharge in 1947.
Walter used his construction skills to build homes for his mother and brother, assisted on the construction of the Crow Agency Church of God and the building of bleachers and the "fort" for the Re-enactment.
He married Delphine Backbone on Jan. 13, 1967, in Sheridan, Wyo., and the couple made their home in Lodge Grass. Mrs. Onion died in 1996.
Walter was a member of the First Crow Indian Baptist Mission in Lodge Grass, Sore Lip Clan, a child of the Whistling Water Clan and a member of the American Legion. He often was a member of the Crow American Legion Honor Guard, caring the American flag at veteran and Tribal events.
He was a mentor to Corone Little Light and John Onion's children. He specifically taught the Onion boys the ropes of being a 'Cowboy". He was a man of few words, but always spoke softly and with wisdom.
Walter was preceded in death by one son, Robert Falls Down, Jr.; one sister, Corine Little Light and two brothers, John and Jenson Onion.
Survivors include three daughters, Dora Mae (Jerome) Hugs of Pryor, Jennifer Onion and Ruth (Stanley) Bellrock of Lodge Grass; five sons, Marvin (Gwendolyn), Ronald (Georgine) and Clayton (Rebecca) Falls Down of Lodge Grass, Gary (Kathy) Gardner of Hardin and John Onion of Crow Agency; one adopted son, Dana Walter Singer Onion of Lodge Grass; two sisters, Lucille Other Medicine and Danetta Falls Down of Crow Agency; five brothers, James Onion, Emmett and Chester A. Other Medicine of Crow Agency, Alonzo Ten Bear of Hardin and Ronnie Stewart of Wyola; his uncles, Elmer and David Yarlott; his aunt, Evelyn Old Elk; his nieces and nephews, Renee, Geraldine, Gloria, Clara, Dora, Bruce and Gerald Little Light Jr.; Elsie, Johnann, Preston, Pete and Thomas Onion; 67 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lodge Grass First Crow Indian Baptist Mission. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
