Charles R. 'Fritz' Jensen
Charles R. "Fritz" Jensen, 57 of Billings, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Benefis East Hospital, Great Falls.
The son of Peter R. and Marcella Jensen, Fritz was born May 15, 1941, in Ekalaka. He was raised and educated in Billings, graduating from Billings Senior. Following high school he served in the Navy until his discharge in1963.

Fritz worked for Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. He had started with Northern Pacific in December 1966.

He married Debbie Plummer in Billings, Dec. 6, 1975.

He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the NRA. A warm outgoing man, Fritz had a wonderful laugh. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, hunting. fishing and boating.

Survivors include his wife Debbie of Billings; his brother William and his wife Louise and their daughters, Amber and Malea of Billings; and all of Debbie's family who enjoyed and cared for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at American Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Susie Masini
ROUNDUP - Susie Masini, 94, passed away at Roundup Memorial Hospital on Monday, Jan. 4, 1999.
Susie was born Feb. 15, 1904, in Bethune, France, the daughter of Suzanne and Frank Demany. She came to the United States with her parents in 1908 and settled in Colorado. She moved to the Klein and Roundup area in 1911. In 1920, she was united in marriage to Joseph Masini. He died in 1965.

Susie was a kind and gentle lady, devoted to her family. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, watching TV and reading Louis Lamour novels.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Erma and Jim Ross of Roundup; seven very special grandchildren and their spouses, Bob and Carol Ross of Sunburst, Mont., Nancy and George Griemsman of Roundup, Mike and Kersten Ross of Homer, Ark., Janet and Ron Taylor of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jim and Linda Wier of Lewistown, Mont., Bill and Sarah Wier of Bozeman, and Kellie Wier of Billings. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Henry Masini of Billings and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather, her daughter Ada Wier, grandson Pat Wier, three sisters and a brother.

Private family services will be held in Roundup at Wier Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999.

Ronald R. Duncan
BLAINE, Wash. - Ronald R. Duncan, 64, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998 at his home in Blaine. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in Blaine at a later date.
Mr. Duncan was born March 13, 1934 in Billings, a son of Jesse and Bertha Duncan. He graduated from Billings Senior High School and the University of North Dakota at Jamestown. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in France. Following his discharge from the army, he taught school in Scobey before coming to Laurel in 1961 where he taught English at the Laurel Junior High School. Following his retirement from teaching in 1984, he moved to Blaine.

His interests were broad - he enjoyed Egyptian, Roman, and Greek history, reading, teaching 55 Alive, and arts and crafts.

He is survived by a brother, George in Puyallup, Wash., and a sister, Karen Penno, in Blaine, and several cousins in the Billings area.

Memorials may be made to the Blaine Senior Center, 763 "G" St., Blaine, WA 98230.

Lawrence B Poe
TOWNSEND - Lawrence B Poe, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999 at Broadwater Health Center of cancer.
Lawrence was born on Sept. 2, 1915, to Bud C. and Martha Poe on the home place at Radersburg, Mont.

On March 24, 1940 he and Margaret Hensley were married in Townsend, Mont. They lived in Radersburg, Townsend, Victor and Richland before returning to Townsend in 1962.

He was a 57 year member of the Valley Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. He was recently elected secretary emeritus in perpetuity. Lawrence was also a 53-year member of Esther Chapter #3 O.E.S. and received the Grand Cross of Colors from the Rainbows.

Lawrence was involved with 4-H, Boy Scouts, Search & Rescue, Fire Department, Broadwater Museum and Historical Society, Townsend Chamber of Commerce and was the Crow Creek Water Commissioner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two grandchildren and a son-in-law.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Son and daughter-in-law, Loyd and Dawn Poe of White Sulphur Springs, Mont.; Daughter Jurenne Fuchs of Townsend. Grandchildren: Tara, Vance, Royce, Kenneth, and Brett Poe; Scott and Susan Pitcher, John Fuchs, Denise Nielsen and four great-grandchildren. Brother Floyd Poe of Radersburg and sister Adeline Corbett of Helena.

He was a humble man and a friend to everyone.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999 at Connors Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Gohl officiating the services. Interment will follow in Deep Creek cemetery.

Bette A. Knebel
Bette A. Knebel, beloved wife, mother and friend, died Jan. 6, 1999, in Billings after a lengthy bout with emphysema.
She is survived by her husband Harold and her three children: Paul of Billings and Beth Anne and Michael both of Seattle.

Bette was born in Omaha, Neb., on Dec. 5, 1923, and graduated from North High School in 1941. She moved to Billings with Harold following his retirement from Mutual of Omaha in 1985.

Private services were held at Smith Funeral Chapel in Billings. Memorials may be made to either Aspen Meadows Retirement Community, C/O Deaconess Foundation, P.O. Box 3566, Billings, MT 55103 or the American Lung Association, 825 Helena Ave., Helena MT 59601.

Cooper T. James Calvert
CODY, Wyo. - Cooper T. James Calvert, 7 months, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Powell Hospital Emergency Room. He was born June 11, 1998 in Billings, the son of Jarred Eugene and Brandi Marie Dickie Calvert.
His survivors include his parents, Jarred and Brandi of Ralston, Wyo.; paternal grandparents, Jamie Calvert and Eddy Calvert of Susanville, Calif.; maternal grandmother, Karen Dickie of Kings City, Calif.; paternal great-grandmother, Donna Pardee of Susanville; and maternal great-grandparents, Roland and Fran Dickie of Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services for Cooper T. James Calvert will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Ballard Funeral Home with interment following in Riverside cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Susanville on Jan. 16, 1999. Visitations will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Ballard Funeral Home.

Those wishing may make memorial donations to Children's Hospital Foundation, 1129 E. 17th, Denver, Colo. 80218, Attn: Newborn Center.

Raymond 'Ray' Fisher
CASPER, Wyo. - Memorial service for Raymond "Ray" Fisher, 90, of Casper, Wyo., will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3931 West 45th in Casper, Wyo. Officiating will be Bishop Don Sundquist.
Mr. Fisher died on Jan. 4, 1999 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper, Wyo.

He was born Dec. 16, 1908 in Cashton, Wis., to Frank S. and Bertha M. (Rudolph) Fisher. At an early age he moved to Billings and attended schools there. He married Hazel Marie Grant on May 20, 1935 in Montana. During WWII they moved to Portland, Ore., and both worked as welders in the Naval Shipyards building battleships. After the war they returned to Montana and he worked as a roustabout for Texaco Oil working in Big Horn Basin oilfields, retiring in 1964. In 1995 they moved to Casper to be near their family.

Mr. Fisher is survived by two sons, Ronald Fisher of Billings, and Gary Fisher of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Margo McIlhaney of South Dakota and Golden Lee Jenkins of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife in 1996.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 319 South Wilson, Casper, Wyo. 82601.

Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Kyle Tyler Johnson
BYRON, Wyo. - Kyle Tyler Johnson, age 15, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at his home in Byron. He has resided in Byron for the past eight years. Before that he resided in Cody where he was born on Nov. 2, 1983.
He is survived by his parents Perry and Gloria Johnson of Byron, and Kathy and Randy Grim, of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Kory Johnson of Byron; three half-brothers, Leviy Johnson of Laramie, Justin Johnson of Marysville, Calif., and Richard Grim of Anchorage, Alaska; two stepbrothers, Bradley Johnson of Riverton, and Brandon Johnson of Byron; a sister, Kayla Johnson of Byron; and his grandparents, Brad Butler of Texas, and Vernon and Johanna Johnson, of Billings. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, in the Byron LDS Church. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell, Wyo., is in charge of arrangements.

Art Adams
COLUMBUS - Arthur N. Adams, 80, of Columbus, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 5 at the Stillwater Community Hospital.
Art was born Jan. 29, 1918 on Flaherty Flat near Columbus, a son of lrv and Grace Adams, the third of six children. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1936, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged in early 1946.

Art married Norma French on April 15, 1941. He worked nearly his entire adult life farming and ranching the Adams Ranch homesteaded by his father in 1908 in the Flaherty Flat Community southeast of Columbus. He was an active member of the Columbus Community Congregational Church serving as treasurer, deacon, youth group leader, and many other supporting roles. He was a leader for the Flaherty Flat Rustlers 4H Club and supported the Stillwater County 4H Council, a member of American Legion Post 34, and a longtime donor to the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Art supported his community in innumerable other roles. He will be fondly remembered by multiple generations for his making the "Adams Hill" and the tractor-drawn sled rides, an integral element in his community's wholesome family entertainment.

Art was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; three brothers, Harold, Earl, and Ray; his sister, Ida Mae, and a son, Vernon. He is survived by a son, Orland of Albuquerque, N.M., and children Bruce and Cathie; a daughter, Dottie Williams of Bozeman and sons Tyler and Spencer, and Vern's sons Jason, Corey, and Brady. He is also survived by a brother, Don of Absarokee and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in the Columbus Community Congregational Church with the Rev. Al Slighter officiating. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetary. Smith-Cashmore Memorial Chapel of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Columbus Community Congregational Church or a charity of choice.

Marie Burnham
Gladys Marie Burnham died Jan. 6, 1999, at Saint Vincent Hospital at the age of 80 from the effects of a stroke. The daughter of Alfred and Luetta Biddle, Marie was born April 2, 1918, in Saco, Mont., but was raised near Loon Lake, north of Spokane.
She married Troy T. Burnham on Sept. 9, 1939. They lived in Eastern Washington and later moved to the Seattle area. Marie moved to Billings in 1994 so she could live closer to her family and deal with medical problems.

Her husband, Troy, died in 1990 after an extended illness. Their son, Stanton Burnham of Olympia, Wash., is also deceased.

Survivors include their daughter, Marabee Clark and her husband Rex Clark of Billings; four grandchildren, Bryan Clark of Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Annmarie Hamling of Billings, Bruce Clark, attending the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and Brooks Clark of Billings, and one great-grandchild, Bruce W. Clark.

Marie worked diligently for years in managing her home and helping her husband run their bridge construction business. She was a capable, seasoned businesswoman. She loved being around people. She had extensive life experience and common sense and was often sought out by others for advice. She always kept up on current events and was an entertaining and witty dinner companion.

She greatly missed the Seattle area and her friends there, but kept in touch with them and visited occasionally.

She was an active member for years of Highline Reformed Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Wash., and later an active participant in Midway Community Covenant Church, also in Des Moines. After moving to Billings, she attended Rocky Mountain Community Church. She would often tell her family and friends that she was praying for them.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at 3:30 p.m. at Rocky Mountain Community Church, 1246 Cook Ave. Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Community Church, 1246 Cook Ave., Billings, Mont. 59102.
