Paul Scheuneman
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. - Paul R. Scheuneman, 81, of Bullhead City, and Red Lodge, Mont., died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Phoenix.
Born Feb. 3, 1917, near Bridger, Mont., Paul grew up on the family farm. During WW II he served in the Army Air Force, training pilots for instrument navigation. While stationed in Santa Monica, Calif., he married Juanita Reifer of Fromberg, Mont. After the war, Paul homesteaded on the Heart Mountain project in Wyoming where he served on the first water and power board. He moved to Arizona where he managed citrus groves and farms and maintained an active real estate license. He owned and managed Gila Ranch Supply in Tacna.

After retiring to Riviera, Paul pursued fishing, hunting, horticulture, and black-smithing. He loved to fish near his summer home in Red Lodge. He estimated that he had planted over 10, 000 trees during his life. He eagerly shared his love for the outdoors, teaching generations of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends to fish, hunt and respect the land.

He is survived, but will never be forgotten by his daughters and sons-in-law: Jena and Marco Morga, and their daughters, Emma and Sarah of Bullhead City, and Linda and Louis Thanukos, and their daughters, Ali and Anna of Phoenix; sisters: Lillie Reamy of Bridger and Meta Meinhardt of Great Falls, Mont.

Services were held on Feb. 5 in Phoenix. Memorials can be sent to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 ProRodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80919.

Helen (Wirtala) Tuomi
GREAT FALLS - Helen (Wirtala) Tuomi, age 86, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Highland cemetery. Croxford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born March 10, 1912, in Sand Coulee. She received her education in Sand Coulee and graduated from Centerville High School. She earned a teacher's certificate from Dillon Normal School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Montana. In 1941 she married Elmer Tuomi in Fort Benton.

In the early years she taught school at rural schools around Belt, which was called Burlingame; Four Corners; Roosevelt; Sand Coulee and Augusta. She retired from teaching in 1976 and moved to Great Falls from Augusta.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Joy Schanz of Ryegate and Jean Olson of Colstrip; three sons, Jay Tuomi of Great Falls, Jack Tuomi of Anchorage, Alaska, and John Tuomi of Palmer, Alaska; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mathias Buechler
HARDIN - Mathias Buechler, 69, of Hardin passed away, Feb. 13, 1999, in the Aspen Meadows Nursing Home in Billings.
He was born June 29, 1929, in Burnstead, N.D., a son of Ludwig and Mary Vetsch Buechler. At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Montana. He attended schools near Bridger, the north valley country school near Hardin and Crow Agency schools. Following his education, he worked on the family farm and for area farmers.

Mat was married and later divorced. He worked as a surveyor for most of his life and was instrumental in laying out the plat for the town of Lander, Wyo. He later worked for the Wagner and Sons Plumbing in Hardin.

He enjoyed hunting and looking for arrowheads.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynell Poglajen of Billings; one son, C. J. Poglajen of Arizona; three sisters, Sophia Elliott of Billings, "Pete" Stoltz of Livingston and Mary Meinhardt of Hardin; three brothers, Tony of Hardin, Olie of Billings and Roy of Joliet; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place in the Bullis-Eastern Montana Crematory. Memorial graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Hardin Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Wallace Fetter
GREYCLIFF - Wallace Fetter was born Aug. 19, 1928, at the Knife River Ranch in the Dakota Territories. He died of natural causes March 25, 1999, at home in Greycliff.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bobbie Fetter; six children, Cameal Fetter, Donna Stewart, Pauline Irwin, Mathew Fetter, Martin Fetter, and Jeffery Fetter; 10 grandchildren, Robbie Debuff, Joshua Debuff, Charlotte Partin, Tina Whiting, Robert Fetter, Scott Fetter, Courtney Fetter, Brian Fetter, Jason Irwin, and Kerri Irwin.

Mary L. Fisher
Mary L. Fisher passed away Friday, March 26, 1999 after a courageous battle with emphysema and cancer. Mary was born Dec. 19, 1923, to Tom and Myrtle Gammon of Kutch, Colo. She attended a one-room school until 8th grade, then to Consolidated High School in Simla, Colo.

Mary married William R. "Ray" Fisher in 1942. Ray served in WWII and Korea. They lived in many states and both worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

In Billings, Mary worked at Woolworth's until they adopted a daughter, Shellie in 1958. Then her life was devoted to family, home and growing flowers.

Preceding Mary in death were her husband Ray, her parents, a brother, Tommy, sisters Martha and Ruth, and granddaughter China.

Surviving are her daughter Shellie; grandchildren, Ashley, Dakota and Asia of the family home; brother, Robert Gammon, nieces, Dodie and Judy of Colorado and her many friends and neighbors.

To my Mom - Those we love are never really lost to us - We feel them in so many ways -- through friends they always cared about and dreams they left behind, in beauty that they added to our days, in words of wisdom we still carry with us, and in memories that never will be gone. Those we love are never really lost to us - For everywhere their special love lives on. "Love, Shellie"

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th Street. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice; Box 35033; Billings, MT 59107

Kenneth D. Moore
Kenneth D. Moore, 71, passed away on March 25, 1999, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
Kenneth was born September 5, 1927, to William H. and Edna Moore, in Red Lodge. He grew up and graduated from high school in Red Lodge. Following his higher education, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Artillery Corp. Ken retired as a Major in 1977 from the U.S. Army.

While stationed in Worms, Germany, in 1956, he met and married his loving wife of 42 years, Hanna. Ken spent 30 years defending his country as an Army officer, showing his family many parts of the country during his many and varied assignments. His never ending quest for knowledge and love of history always lead him to new and exciting places to explore. His quick wit and ever-present sense of humor made him a pleasure to know and be around. Ken was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Rimrock Lodge #149 and American Legion Post #4. He enjoyed reading and many other hobbies including model building and miniature soldiers.

His wife Hanna, his four children, Ursula and husband Steven Yeo of Baltimore, Md., Edna Tucker, William Moore, Michael and wife Gina, all of Billings, survive him. Also surviving are his sister Muriel and husband Edward Lenhardt and sister-in-law Patricia Moore, also of Billings; ten grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends. He will be greatly missed.

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father and one brother William H. Moore.

A private family viewing was held on March 27, prior to cremation. A celebration of Ken's life will be held in his honor by friends and family at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the American Legion Post 4 in Billings. All friends and acquaintances that wish to attend are welcome.

Memorials can be made in Ken's name to Northern Rockies Kidney Center, Deaconess Medical Center, 2800 10th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101, or the charity of your choice.

David G. Lamb
BREMERTON, Wash. - David G. Lamb, of Bremerton, passed away on March 26, 1999, of cancer. He was 72 years of age.
David was born on Sept. 6, 1926, to David Lamb and Ardis Bruffey Lamb in Big Timber, Mont. David attended school in Big Timber and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was married to Olive Alexander-Lamb from 1953 to 1970. He moved to Bremerton in 1971. He married Doris Ellis on Dec. 28, 1975.

During his early years, David ranched in the Big Timber area, later moving to Red Lodge, Mont., where he ran the Ben Franklin Store for many years. He later moved to Bremerton, where he worked in the Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard for the balance of his work life.

He was a longtime member of the American Legion.

He was blessed with a loving family and many fine friends. He will be missed.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Big Timber Lutheran Church in Big Timber followed by a gathering of friends and family at the Legion Hall in Big Timber. Please join us.

G. Bernice Peterson
G. Bernice Peterson, age 89, former government employee and gift shop manager, died Friday, March 12, 1999, of complications from dementia at the Western Manor Care Center in Billings where she lived since 1992.
Mrs. Peterson, was born in Miles City on Oct. 9, 1910, the daughter of Nels B. Nelson and Hilda M. (Johannson) Nelson. She attended schools there and worked in various occupations in Miles City and Billings, and in Anchorage, Alaska.

In 1946, she married Bert L. Peterson in Red Lodge. There were no children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, who died in 1967 in Billings; by a brother, Stanley W. Nelson of Houston, Texas, who died in 1982; and by a sister, Virginia C. Boodry, of Miles City, who died in 1991.

Survivors include three nieces and a nephew: Judie (Nelson) Campanelli of Bethany Beach, Del.; Kathy (Nelson) Turnquist of Woodbridge, Va.; Stan W. Nelson, Jr., of Huntsville, Ala.; and Marsha Nelson of Houston, Texas. There are also eight grandnieces and nephews; two great-grandnephews; and cousins in Miles City; Omaha, Neb.; and Sweden.

A family graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at the Mountainview cemetery in Billings with Rev. Tom Peterman of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Miles City and sent in care of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home, 1717 Main, Miles City, MT 59301. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

John Joseph Reczek
John Joseph Reczek, 51, beloved father, husband, brother, and friend passed away Saturday, March 13, 1999, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
John was born Jan. 12, 1948, to Joseph and Georgina Reczek in Miles City. He was raised in Hardin where he graduated from high school. John attended the University of Hawaii, and returned to Billings in 1970 to pursue opportunities with CIT, Boise Cascade, and American Leasing Resources.

John touched many lives through his community service activity. He was involved with Kiwanis, Exchange Clubs, Boys and Girls Club, Billings Mustang Fan Club, Lake Elmo State Park, and Rose Park Girls Softball.

Of all his activities, his greatest joy was baseball. Whether it was coaching his daughter, watching the Mustangs, or participating in Little League activities, John's boyhood love of baseball given to him by his father carried throughout his life. It was important to John that he made a difference in the lives of kids through his participation in youth organizations. He had a special strength that allowed him to connect with kids.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Georgina, and infant daughter Jennifer. Survivors include his wife Susan Kalaris, daughter Amy, brother George, aunt and uncle JoMae and Bill Woods, and numerous nieces and nephews. His special boys, Buddy and Max, will miss him greatly.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral, 215 N. 31st Street. A reception will follow at the church. Cremation has taken place. Private interment to follow.

To our dear dad and husband, we love you with all our hearts and you will be greatly missed.

Viola Mildred Creech
Viola Mildred Creech was born in Custer on Oct. 24, 1916, the daughter of Emil and Lillie Tesch. She passed away Friday, March 12, 1999. She lived her childhood in Molt and the family moved to Billings in 1947. She worked at the Billings Laundry. After retiring she spent her time making a loving home for her family.
She married Clifford Creech Feb. 28, 1938. They had two children.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Herb and George (Bud); her daughter Delores Schreiter; and sister Vera Schleinger.

Survivors include her son Angelo Creech and his wife Billie; a son-in-law David Schneiter; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Edna Tesch and Babe (Don) Brodsho of Billings.

She loved making pillows, afghans cookies, and candy with Delores at Christmas time. Viola and Cliff went hunting and fishing and they loved going to Idaho to visit Cliff's brother Clyde and his wife Dorothy. She will be missed but remembered by all.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Doris R. Arden
Doris Ruby (Hannah) Arden, 84, died in her sleep at her home Friday, March 12, 1999, after a short cancer illness. She was the middle child of five born to Riley John and Ruby Jane Clifford Hannah on the family ranch on Trout Creek south of Moore, on Sept. 15, 1914. She graduated from Moore High School in 1932 and attended Billings Business College and was a bookkeeper.
Doris married William Hollingsworth Arden in 1936 and since 1942 she has been a very devoted Witness of Jehovah and devoted to her husband, daughter and family.

A little lady who always made us feel welcome, her words were few and had insight. Her quiet and mild spirit will be dearly missed by the many friends and family who knew and loved her.

Doris has been preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Dorothy and Judith. Survivors include her husband of 62 years William, her daughter Ellen Lorraine (Jerry) Harris and her two grandsons families, Wade (Kim) Harris and Tracy (Stacy) Harris, her great-granddaughters Cassidy and Carson Harris, one brother John R. Hannah of Moore, one sister Marjorie Randall of Florissant, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 36th Street W. and Monad Road in Billings. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
